Two Manchester United stewards are set to appear in court next week after allegedly throwing a City fan down the stairs during the match derby which finished 4-3 to us.
Peter Sweeney admits to being caught smoking inside the ground twice before being lobbed down the stairs, breaking both his legs.
Mark Roberts and Paul Stringer have both been charged with grievous bodily harm.

According to people who know this blue, he is the biggest compensation work shy merchant going. Apparently on that many benefits he could be a scouser!
yeah he is either faking or arrived at old Trafford with the broken legs
its shitty aint it…
The look on his face is pretty scary to say the least. He looks like a typical mafia.
Given all his claimed illnesses, the bloke shouldnt have been smoking anyway.
I don’t see what the problem is.
i wouldn’t surprised if city didn’t put him up for this
as nelson from the simpsons would say
‘ha ha’
Maybe the stewards can get Stevie Me’s lawyer and get off for GBH.
In all seriousness though, the stewards were a bit over zealous with the citeh twat.
I know the stringer fella, hes from runcorn,I`ll buy him a pint next time I see him…
city or not, it’s hard to make fun of an old, sad, and admittedly scary, looking geezer with two broken legs!
even with two broke pegs, i bet he didn’t flop around pantomime seizure style like a certain ‘fucking disgrace’ did on sunday! you would have thought the ‘fucking disgrace’ had a career threatening injury after that act. evans was careless with his studs too high, and was lucky to not have been punished, but the ‘fucking disgrace’ should have left the pitch immediately and never returned after that reaction. looked like he was dying.
if rugby can penalize harlequins for bloodgate, why can’t the fa come down on cheaters and simulators the same way. i heard they’re gonna start using video evidence, but they would still probably find away to muck that process up as well!
What a pleb, reading from the comments, how’d he afford to go to the game is my question!?
Some of the stewards inside OT are grade A cunts, there was a guy with a Gooner shirt on sat a few rows behind me in whats usually the away end but was given to the home fans at the champions league game last season, my mate had a word with the steward and they did fuck all. I even told him they would do nothing as well. I don’t know what to believe but if he’s caught smoking and then does it again its hard to have any sympathy whatsoever. He blatantly struggled as I don’t think the stewards would have any bottle to do anything especially as how quick everyone is to go court as in this case.
Should have broken his arms too, that way the prick can’t do the airplane gestures anymore.
Pair of twats
You lot are such a bunch of hypocrites. Imagine if it was the other way round and a united fan had been thrown down the stairs by city stewards. You’d all be so livid that this website would consist of nothing but complaining articles for the next week – and don’t deny it.
Being bias is one thing, but there’s never room for hypocricy.
You know what? I don’t care what team he supports or what he was doing in the stadium. Some old bloke breaking both his legs is horrible and if the stewards did push him down some stairs they deserve some prison time to think about it.
Every time I read this kind of story, like with those idiots at Barnsley, I just feel embarrassed by association.
who honestly cares about this worthless excuse for a human being?
You lot are a bunch of numbskulls. Imagine if it was the other way round and a united fan had got pushed down the stairs by city stewards. This website wouldn’t have anything but articles about it for the next week.
There’s one thing being bias, quite another being hypocritical.
you’re absolutely deluded if you think as an inbred Bertie you can come here and convince us that you’ve just pressed the morality button on your keyboardm, are you trying to convert us to your deluded cause?
And…?
Just because they are stewards at OT doesn’t automatically mean they are United fans. I know three stewards there who are bitters!
@ Its in my blood
Good point, why are we assuming that anyone who works at OT is a United fan?? It is their job, for all we know they might not like football at all and just earn wages period.
how about Drogba withdrawing from the Ivroy Coast game due to having some discomfort in his chest?? more like having Evan’s stud print tattoo that is bothering him….those chelsea shirts have the effeminate pads in the chest, did that not protect him? What a twat!
y u stupid fan do tat 4 idots grow up people cnt u just grow up cmon this is real world bloody hell. tats y i call footys crazy.
why are people actually defendin stewards? its not like rooney and berbatov fucked him down like their just 2 fat stewards that pushed a guy, end of story
the poor guy getting hurt is sad.
No matter what he did(smoking?) or that he’s a city fan, he doesn’t deserve to get his legs broken in that way. The guy might have a family to run and he might have to stay away from his job for a little…have some compassion lads.
We United fans should show a bit more compassion and class.
the derby win gets sweeter by the day!
That’s not good. Whether he is a City fan or not, that’s not a way to deal with people and it actually hurts United’s reputation.
@ che guevarist
Exactly the point mate….I am more concerned by how United’s reputation as a club with class is being tarnished by recent events. First the disgraceful trouble at Barnsley, then this episode, then the poppy brigade….the newspapers are having a field day at our expense.
@Raj K
Hv some compassion u @$$. You shouldn’t be rejoicing on injuries like that. No matter who he/she is.
lesson number1: dont act like a tosser when your inside the theatre of dreams…
He probably still has better ball control than Tevez!
rooneyisclass , are you from Runcorn?
@Duncan
You will need to find a better example to illustrate hypocrisy than a situation that you need to ‘imagine’.
The guy says he had to give up drinking years ago as he has a medical condition, he then admits to having 1 and a half pints of guniess and no lunch, he also claims to be 7 stone. All that suggests that he might have been slightly drunk at the time.
He then goes on to tell of his illness, which in all reality, he shouldnt actually be smoking. I hope the NHS read he is smoking and refuse to treat his condition, as hes not helping himself.
@ bengalisoldier don’t know if it is just me getting older but for fuck’s sake if you can speak english try writing in english.my kids are out so I can’t even get your post translated.
I’m sure this guy will make a fortune in compensation and then have his benifits stopped
He fell, he wasn’t pushed
Speaking from experience with stewards some of them in the ground are feckin little hitler twats, ordering u about, sit down, be quiet, dont sing – Feckin arseholes some of them – even if he is a bitter, no one deserves to be threw down steps – ok i know i dont know the full story before anyone starts defending them for ONLY doing their job!
To tufty, yes mate I am from runcorn,I do know the stringer lad,and yes he is a man utd fan.
rooneyisclass, do you know me?
He looks like Billy Mitchell from EastEnders …

Hmm, something just doesn’t add up here.
brett1985 – Fucking quality son.
Those stewards take no prisoners. Our steward in the family stand is a top bloke. I know he is a true red, however, a couple a seasons ago I was outside the ground with my nephew who is deaf. He used to love watching the players arrive. Before one game he was waiting, the team arrived the very efficient stewards started moving the barriers. One big bruiser asked him to move, the lad was so excited, he was nt facing the guy to lip read, sensing the stewards urgency, I immediately, I am talking about within a minute, tried to move the lad away by which time, the steward had got sooooo annoyed that he pushed the barrier aggressively into the little lads face. Woman or no woman I wiped the floor with him and he did apologise went he discoverd that the lad was not being awkward,he just didnt hear him.
my brother paul just did his job on this one he is not in the ground to take abusive from this idiot he is innocent. this man swore at my bro when asked to put out his ciggy he was drunk and was ejected from the ground.
