All you can do is win the games in front of you. If United win today and City lose the Champions League beckons – but ultimately it is not in the hands of Van Gaal’s men.

However, there is an FA Cup Final to look forward to next weekend and an increasingly excellent record at Old Trafford to point to. Bournemouth have not faired badly away from home in the last six, but may well struggle to score.

Man Utd v Bournemouth - Recent Form H v A

While home form has been one massive positive in recent times, goals (or lack of) have been a recurring problem for United this season. And with an average of just seven shots on goal during the last ten games it is not hard to see why.

Ultimately though, United should have the edge – with more games won in the last 1o, more clean sheets and far fewer goals conceded. Bournemouth have scored slightly more goals over that period, and are more competitive in terms of attacking form, but defensively they are no where near as strong as United.
