    1-0 down to Spurs on the last day of the season and it was Beckham who scored a cracking goal on the stroke of half time to send us in level.

    Two sublime crosses for Dwight Yorker at home to Inter Milan in the first leg of the quarter finals.

    Beckham’s improvised half volley back towards goal to cause the goal mouth scramble that saw Ryan Giggs equalise against Juventus at home in the semi final first leg. Sublime cross for Roy Keane to head home the first goal of the 3-2 away win against Juventus in Turin.

    Beckham’s cracking opening goal in the FA cup semi final replay against Arsenal.

    This is not a competition between who was better out of Scholes, Keane, Beckham or Giggs. They were four world class players who played and fought for each other. Without doubt out greatest ever midfield by some distance. Beckham was a huge part in that and I’ll always remember him for it.

    Right chaps 24 hours left for you to leave me your question here for the pros. I will be doing a sweep of them all around this time tomorrow so make sure you get them to me by then!

    Cheers
    Jim

    @Jim Edwards

    Dont forget to ask mine to Scholsey, who had the scarier hairdrier, Eric Harrison or Sir Alex Ferguson.

    Got a good one for Coley which he probably will be ruluctant to answer, has he kissed and made up with Teddy yet and what was the argument about which made them not talk for years

  4. Sparkz says:

    @Jim – Ask Yorkie what happened at the Christmas party in 99!

    If he doesn’t answer that then ask Phil whether he deliberately jumped about right in front of the Bayern players, or if it was just the moment (watch it again, he runs onto the pitch and celebrates right in front of one of their lads lol)

    Also ask Cole if he thinks he’d have beaten Alan Shearer’s Premier League record if he’d taken more penalties.

  5. Gary Mitrovic says:

    Tommy, I think the Cole and Sheringham rift started from something as small as a substitution incident. While Cole came on for Teddy in what was his England debut I think, Sheringham barely acknowledged him and it seems to have started from something that small. I guess they just didn’t get on. That’s life, but they were professional enough to put that behind them while on the pitch.

  6. Sparkz says:

    @Tommy – I think Coley revealed that a few years ago? Apparently when he came on for his England debut Teddy blanked him and didn’t shake his hand (think he was the one being replaced)

    Also I havr to agree with Gary, that was an incredible midfield 4 and had every aspect you want. There wasn’t a single thing that quartet didn’t have between them. Goals, assists, passing, tackling, dribbling, engine – the whole lot. Becks was a phenomenal player in that period which as I said is some achievement given his limitations.

    If he had got a long tern injury that season, no way would we have won the Treble (same applies for Keane btw). We didn’t have a proper replacement for starters, and we’d have lost our biggest chance creator.

    And I still maintain that if he’d have started the Real Madrid game in 2003 instead of a half fit Veron, we’d have got through

    @Spaekz

    Hes not a midfielder, at this level you cant get away with shoving wide players into a position they can not play to a high level, I also think their wasnt really replacements for many of our players ack in 99, squads were in its infantcy then and pretty much the same team always played (Apart from our 4 forwards of course)

  8. Tommy says:

    @Gary and Sparkes

    Fair enough I expected it to be more serious than just a handshake but thanks for the info lads

  9. MichaelDatnow says:

    #FCBday1 #AskALegend – Andy Cole – what was the funniest prank done in the dressing room?

  10. Gary Mitrovic says:

    Tommy, yea seems a bit petty alright. I guess they just weren’t each others kind of people. I don’t think either of them have lost any sleep over it. I’m sure they respected each other on a personal level.

  11. Gary Mitrovic says:

    Professional level I meant.
