There was a time over the past couple of weeks where United could be left with just Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez as striking options, with Tottenham refusing to sell Dimitar Berbatov, with offers coming in for Frazier Campbell Louis Saha.
Berbatov has since signed for us, and David Gill has revealed yet even more good news on the striker front.
“We couldn’t get a work permit for him straight away, but when we looked at the rules and regulations we found that he actually qualified for one automatically. We’re delighted to have him,” Gill said. “He’s 25 years-old and has got a lot of great attributes. You only need to look at the goals he scored at the African Nations Cup to see that and I think he brings something different to the team. He’s got a little injury at the moment, but we’re looking forward to him getting fit and showing us what he can do. He’s a great prospect.”
Do you think Manucho has a chance of first team action this season?

Man Utd News 24/7

may be not in the premiership or CL but we can always play him in the FA cup or the league cup….
WHEN THE BALLS IN THE GOAL IT AIN’T TORRES OR JO ITS MANUCHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I can’t wait, i’m so excited, it’s about time we had these options, we’ve finally got variety up front and it will prove decisive I should think.
he is a superstar in angola + he moves like n strike same like ADEBAYOR, he will finds his place surely
yep bleed him in, in cup games..he prospers there..then everythings a bonus from there on…hope he realises the potential CQ saw in him….excited too
Yes allow him to be in the first team and downgrade John Oshea,Fletcher,Gary N,Giggs and Scholes to reserved team to compete in the Carling Cup.
I have seen the lad play and i think we are gonna see him playing plenty of time probably as a sub first and get some games depending on how well he does. We obviously know Berbatov is the first choice but its always good to have another tall striker to come in. I think Manucho will be marvellous for us, just wait until he puts the shirt on and gets on the field.
cant wait to c man u playing, imagin rooney and berbatov in the 1st half then manucho and tevez in the second. i pity the teams that we’ll be facing Man u this year
ManU, are you still going on about that nonsense? This isn’t FM. In real life, you don’t dump quality players like Scholes and Giggs in the reserves. At their age, they either play, retire or finish their career at a lesser club than United. For instance, Scholes has always dreamed of playing for his boyhood club Oldham and may end up there. And Fletcher and O’Shea are good players to have in the squad. They can’t all be Berbatovs.
Son, go run your show.
Stop pretending that you care.
Manucho will be great addition in our squad. With manucho, tev, roon, ron, berba we are going to defend our titles.
I think Manucho will get his chance dis season…coz dat lad’s awesome…and he’s sum1 dat can change the outcome of a match….I’ve seen him playing for panathaikos and man he’s too good to be in dat team………dis year he’ll be MU’s main star….Viva la manucho
Manucho and berbatov will only tell Rooney that his spot is up for grabs cos he’s been really messing up lately and that will get everybody up and going about putting United forward in every competition. I think for variety sake United will do just great with 4 strikers going out for a quadruple.
He makes ADEBAYOR look average (even more so!)
Watched him in AFC – was IMMENSE (well as much as a striker can be playing in an underrated ANGOLAN side (no disrespect to ANgolans – I dont think you were favourites – they being Ivory Coast And Egypt)
I do hope he IS USED in CL games and used as not only cover but to help give us NEW options:
Manucho up front, with Rooney and Co. playing off him.
I think Our Front line options this season will enable us to adapt to ANY situation.
Grindin out results against physical teams – use Manucho etc
He’ll most IMPORTANTLY get those HEADERS IN!!!
The guy is 25 years old, if he’s not good enough for the first team we should never have signed him. No 25 year old deserves that.
United have always worked with 4 forwards and he is the 4th… He looks as though he can come on and change games. He is huge and although African Nations Cup is relatively low quality football, he still did very well and scored a great 30 yarder!
Course He will get his chance. Surely whenever we have one of our strikers injured, he becomes the main striking sub if we are deploying two at the top. Start with him in less challenging cup games. He might see 20 appearances or so
Our squad is now complete. The key is to have plenty of numbers in all positions, to cover injuries and suspensions, and with the addition of Berbatov and the successful application of a work permit for Manucho means that the one remaining area has been significantly strengthened. Roll on dippers and rentboys.
Depth. It’s a great thing for a team in a marathon-of-competitions.
If some of you “supporters” would have your way Fletcher and O’Shea wouldn’t get into forty or fifty games but the first-team players would be burned out by February.
Manucho might – might just – be one of those late-bloomers; certainly, he was the best striker at the AFC, ahead of Drogba and Eto’o so he ain’t exactly chopped liver.
4 strickers and a 40+ goal scorer in mudfield
fuck me thats good
Big powerful striker got good size and pace on him ideal to bring of the bench
no one is expecting him to displace rooney tevez or berbatov but a good option none the less
ManU
Scholes in the reserves wat fucking planet are you on?
I think we should let the strikers fight for their place in the first team. Let see who score more goals and who play better game. The selection must not based on the player reputation but on player’s form. I can see Manucho starting and Rooney on the bench…who knows???
Scholes in the reserves, go and support Chelsea idiot.
