Van der Sar: Not Another Bloke In The World Like Sir Alex

After signing another year long contract extension which will see him playing Premiership football in his 40s, Edwin Van der Sar has hailed Sir Alex Ferguson and explained why he is staying on.

“There is not another bloke in the world like Sir Alex,” said Van der Sar. “I really think he is a unique coach, unparalleled. The way he has us playing is everything I think football should be be: utter concentration, reaching peak moments at the right stages. I only have to think about the AC Milan game. What a joy it was. I have to be honest, if I only had Bolton away to look forward to, I wouldn’t carry on playing in England.”

Top man. Top Professional. Long may he continue, nothing but a credit to himself.

  2. rubito says:

You took the words right out of my mouth, The Shankill Skinhead Said. I totally agree. I think, also, it says huge amounts about our manager, too.

  3. Red phil says:

What’s wrong with Bolton away? It’s one of my favourite places to win!

  4. Ben Otto says:

Stay on Edwin, with you, United are in safe hand.

    red phil

i think what he says is if it is not games against milan, barca, etc which are on par with us interms of history and world standing, football would have been booring if we play week in week out against bolton, wigan, stock etc..

  7. Gudjohnsen says:

I’m glad VDS signed an extension. He’s still a world class keeper.

But I’m kind of nervous when Fergie quits football. Like VDS says, there’s no one other like him in the world. When I see a list of possible replacements I always think “yeah great managers but not as good as Sir Alex”. So I think it’s inevitable for us to take a dip in managerial quality when Sir Alex retires.

  8. King Eric says:

A classy bloke. Should have signed him after Pete called it a day. A decent man an a top keeper.

Also just shows you what Fergie is like. “concentration and peak moments” Genius.

  9. BrianBL says:

What his comment shows is the aspiration and drive.. we’ve done it all. But doesn’t spot the drive for more and more and more.. brillant.

  10. BrianBL says:

    stop* :S

  11. Fred says:

What’s the comment about Bolton away supposed to mean?

  12. Always Be Closing says:

That looking forward to the big games is what it’s all about. Playing world class football against world class opponents and winning.

  13. Hurdy Gurdy Man says:

    Fairly harsh on Bolton!

  14. Park likes dags says:

Lets face it, living in England (for all it’s ‘trims’) is shite compared to Italy & Spain, hell even back @ Ajax Holland, they smoked weed n played since the 80′s and won shit! Look at Ruud Gullit & tell me that man has ever shyed away from a spliff???
He’s just saying, if it were’nt for the fact United challenges at the top level constantly (due to Sir Alex, Sir Busby, our style, our club…) he’d be retired smoking J’s.. Shuch a model professchional!! Schmoke n a pancake anyone??
