Van Persie 2nd in FWA Award

Robin van Persie has come 2nd, narrowly behind Gareth Bale, in this season’s Football Writers’ Association award. Chelsea’s Juan Mata finished 3rd but some way behind Van Persie.

The winner is selected by a vote amongst the members of the FWA, which comprises around 400 football journalists based throughout England.

Who cares, what do they know about football, writing off DDG and Man United and having to eat humble pie….hahaha….shows how ignorant they are!!

Bottom line, both players did a cracking job for their clubs. Also, both seem decent enough. I suggest we congratulate Bale and dream about what might be if he comes to our club as some have speculated.

In the end, Bale got 53% and RvP got 43% making it very close if not a statistical dead heat. My reading of the numbers suggests a sizable number of members didn’t bother to vote.

It is reported that Mata got 3rd spot, but it was apparently a very distant 3rd. Maybe in the range of 4%.

Suarez got 2 votes, which is well below the number of Liverpool writers, so you could tell it wasn’t going to be his day.

Congrats to Bale. Cracking player any way you cut it.

Congratulations to Gareth Bale. Any of RVP, Suarez or Bale would have deserved the award should they have won it. They are all fantastic on the pitch for their teams this season. I don’t care for individual awards. Van Persie has the most important award. THE TITLE.
