Van Persie Injured? No, Just Another Precaution

Robin van Persie was removed at half-time during Holland’s 4-1 win against Hungary. He received a knock to his left thigh but Holland’s manager, Louis Van Gaal, claims the substitution was just precautionary.

“Robin Van Persie was taken off as a precaution,” said Van Gaal.

This news follows Shinji Kagawa’s withdrawal from Japan’s squad today after he felt a twinge in his back. He has since confirmed that it is nothing serious.

    Fk international breaks, so bad.

  14. samuel - united WE stand says:

I knew cleverley was going to get lambasted. Build them up and knock them down. He was getting all the hype and all talk about him being a saviour, i and many others know he’s not the finished article. I talked about his composure in and around the box needing improvement, his shooting skills needs a lot of work. He’s not a number 10 either, he needs to get stronger as he gets knocked off easily. He’s knits and passes the ball well but you want to see him come out with crucial key passes and impose himself more on games.

People say that at 23, he should be a top player but he’s always been a slow developer. Physically and everything, he still hasn’t had a full injury free season so it’s ludicrous to expect him to do more, he’s still very inexperienced.

He’s performance tonight wasn’t bad but obviously, as an attacking playmaker, he needed to make a difference in the final third by producing telling passes or scoring. His shooting let him down again and it’s back to training for him to improve the key parts of his games. All these “TC23″ brand needs to be put aside, he needs to work even harder on his game in order to live up to expectations both for united and england. It’s fucking stupid though for the england national team to place their hopes on him, he’s barely strung enough appearances at the top level. He can hopefully get better but more dedication is needed from tom, he’s just experience the usual “Pick on united players when england don’t play well” mentality, hopefully he has a strong character and turn out better for united.

    Louis van Gaal said:

“We took off Robin for precautionary measures. It doesn’t seem to be too serious, but you never know. We didn’t want to take any risks.”

  16. Gopher Brown says:

He needs to retire from international duty, something about the set up doesn’t work for him it seems. I remember Wenger (and all my Arsenal supporting mates) always complained that he used to return from international games injured every time.

  17. iamphillip1 says:

RVP must retire from international duties and concerntrate on his club obligations. Long live RVP long live Man Utd.

  18. Busby says:

I think at least one of RvP and Kagawa were always going to be rested, given that we have Galatasary and Liverpool within 4 days of each other. Hence we will probably put out Welbeck with Ashley Young/ Cleverley in behind and Nani and Valencia on the flanks. That is still bloody good. I always laugh when people call this a weak united squad. What other team can have Kagawa, RvP and Rooney type players out and still put out an attack like that? Thats not even mentioning Hernandez on the bench with Giggs to come on.

  19. Costas says:

Yeah, we will know on Saturday.

  20. DreadedRed says:

Hey Costas, how you doing pal?

I remember your bet with wayne, and I’m wondering if he gave you his email address?
If so, I’m hoping you can send him a message from me…

  21. lordrt says:

Let’s hope both RvP and Kagawa are really fine, but again as a precaution I would have rested them for the weekend game and give others a chance to prove their worth

  22. abubakar iya girei says:

Hate this international break!I feared the worse..My uneasiness has turned reality..Hope both are not serious.

  23. Costas says:

Hi. I am good thanks, pal. How are you? I can’t help I am afraid. I remember him posting his e-mail address, but it was a hectic period for me and I forgot to write it down. Doesn’t he pop up over here anymore?

  24. DreadedRed says:

Costas – I’m good thanks! He does pop in regularly. He travels a lot though, so intermittent absences are the norm. That goes for all of us, I guess.

How’s the grub in the mess? I suppose you’ve not found out yet. You have landmine-chicken to look forward to. Similar to chicken kebabs, except that the wood and the chicken is roughly minced together. The menu calls for a box of chickens, a bag of potatoes and big pot to cook it in. Feet, beaks, box and all; chop, boil, serve.

  25. FletchTHEMAN says:

Not so sure its “just a precaution”. Seems to be some growing concern.
Anything Official? Expect issues if he doesn’t train today?

  26. Unitedforeva says:

I’ve enough of F1, tennis & international footie. Bring on Wigan & hoping our ‘injuries’ are just knocks.
    United 4 – 0 Wigan!

  27. DreadedRed says:

Will it be Wigan Athletic that we face, or will it be Atletico Wigan?

  28. lordrt says:

With RvP I think most of us are dreading our worst nightmare coming true given his recent injury history, but keeping fingers crossed that it only a small knock that he can overcome quickly. If both Rooney and RvP are out simultaneously then we’ll lack the impact required up front, and with our poor defending so far we could be in for a big shock in the coming games.

  29. belfast red. says:

If rvp isnt guna be playin against wigan it gives Hernandez and welbeck a chance 2 shine i have faith in our forward play its our defense that needs 2 tightin up. C,mon united.

  30. lordrt says:

    off-topic, this goal was sublime:

If only Nani could send them more often like this whenever he tries to shoot from outside the box :P

  31. denton davey says:

lordrt @ 11:58: “If both Rooney and RvP are out simultaneously then we’ll lack the impact required up front, and with our poor defending so far we could be in for a big shock in the coming games.”

Don’t be so pessimistic – a front-two of Chicharito/DannyTheLad, backed by Nani/Valencia should be plenty dangerous.

  32. belfast red. says:

Thats the thing bout nani. Ud much rather have him in ur squad than against u, as on his day he has the ability 2 turn a game with a sublime bit of skill.

  33. LoneStarRed says:

    @ Dreaded
I expect it will be Atletico Wigan. After last year they will be encouraged. No easy day.

    @ Samuel.
Regarding the TC23 nonsense: You are correct about Tom needing to further develop. The media really do seek to puff him up. That in my estimation, is the problem with the Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton! A sticking point in his ongoing contract negotiations with McLaren is his desire to “build his personal brand”. What a load of total bulls*&t ! His ” personal brand” will absolutely be built by WINNING EFING RACES AND CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!! These youngsters want acclaim and accomplishment yet have NO PATIENCE to do it properly. End rant.

Cleverly is NOT YET the finished product. But he is close. I hope we can allow him the time to do so. He has a good head on his shoulders and the right attitude.
