Vida: I Enjoy The Responsibility At United

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has claimed that he enjoys the responsibility he has at the club as one of the more experienced members of the squad.

“Obviously there’s a bit more responsibility and I’m coming to the age when I have more responsibility, me and a few others in the team,” said Vidic. “I am quite happy with that and I’m enjoying it. It’s not a question you should ask me, about my performances and how I play this season. I’m at an age now where I have to take more responsibility as a player. When I came here I was 24 and I was still young and a lot of older players took responsibility on the pitch. But now I have to do that, be supportive to the younger players and be an example. It’s something that comes naturally as you get older. The more responsibility you have and the more pressure you have, I think the better your focus and concentration are. So it helps.”

No doubt his best season so far, and that’s saying something coz it has come on the back of two really impressive seasons. It almost doesn’t matter who you put next to him. He makes them all look good. Along with Rio, I can’t remember the last time they shipped in more than two goals.
Rafael and Evra have been class too. Evra hasn’t been as good as last, but then I thought the same this time last year, and he turned in a magnificent year post new years, so I expect the same this time around.

The Serbian rock. Impressive work rate & leadership qualities. He’s not the most vocal but lets his actions do the talking.

Best defender in the World by a million miles.

I don’t think Vidic is a great captain as such, but he is a great defender. I’d like to see him talk more on the pitch, and organize the defense better.

last chance to correct your statement or else you know -

    Nemanja ohhh, Nemanja ohhh,
    He comes from Serbia…
    He’ll f**kin’ Murder Ya!

    :-P

its greta when you have rio who can talk and organise and vida who is just a powerhouse of a defender…keep both fit and we have a great chance this season.

DWAC – lol, I stand by it mate. Saying that, I said in the summer, that Vidic should be considered for capo, because Rio can’t be counted on to be fit all season.

agree mate….the youngsters in central defence havent been good in the air……….thats what they should learn from their captain………..
but the other thing to be considered is that the majority of the goals conceded by us this season are largely bcoz of individual errors……….that needs to be sorted out………

No doubt a great player, fanatastic to watch, still slightly worried about us leaking goals, defence isnt as good as it was 2 years ago, fuck arsenal on Monday and keep scoring goals and im happy

Part of his responsibility is to f**kin murder ya!

I disagree about our defending. I think that lack of protection from central midfield is a bigger problem; due to SAF’s cavalier approach to 4-4-2 system.

    Off Topic
i had a chat wiv city player and he told me that he though he was coming to us nd he told all his friends he was going to Manchester (United)…. then he cried when he found-out it was city not United.

  13. RojoDiablo says:

We really need a Hargo type player to help act as a foil for the defence and Anderson who looks set to take the mantle of United’s midfield from Scholesy. I know he didn’t play a ton in 07/08 but he made such a difference when he was fit. Super-Fletch was able to take on that role of harrier in 08/09 but is a bit off the mark this year..so far. Two years of runnin’ like that for club and country will probably take a bit of bite out of your biscut

Vida has been great this year and I agree with comments that anyone looks good next to him.

Vida has been great this year and I agree with comments that anyone looks good next to him. hmm, Jonny Evans didn’t look that great next to him. Rio for me is the best CH in Europe.

  15. King Eric says:

willie – Rio is a class act. He was gliding across the pitch on Tuesday night. When he went off we looked vulnerable.

  16. willierednut says:

King Eric – I totally agree mate.

  17. Doghouse says:

I think Vida is as good a captain as you can have at centre half. I’ve always thought the best position to captain from is a box to box centre midfielder, but Vidic does what he can, he comes forward when we need him, he shows that responsibility. There’s not much to say about his defensive prowess that hasn’t been said a million times, he’s a rock.
