Vida: I Tackle But I’m No Killer

Nemanja Vidic has talked about his role as a defender but claims he isn’t a murderer, as his song would have you believe.

“I am not a number 10, I know that,” said Vidic. “I am defender and I have to stop the other team from scoring the goal. If I play well but make one mistake, than all anyone remembers is the goal I conceded. So I have to be fully focused. I am a defender. I like to defend, it’s what I do and what I’m best at. I tackle, I tackle, I tackle. This is what a defender does – this is how I developed my whole career, and this is what the manager wants from me. I play strong, yes. I am not a dirty player and I’m not a killer, as the fans sing. I don’t want to hurt or injure anyone. I just want to win. I have to win, so I do what I have to do.”

As legend says, if nemanja stares into a strikers eyes then they ultimately shrink regardless of them being 6ft plus.

When vidic tackles, the grass he slides on gives him a salute, when nemanja crashes into an opponent, the pain is ever lasting and will never go away both mentally and physically for his victim.

Vidic trained robots and ate them all because he felt a little peckish. vidic is never late, the time just gets scared of getting ahead of nemanja.

When vidic drinks a cup of tea, he grinds the mug into mere dust.

when Vidic does a press up, the ground sinks in due to his immeasurable power, vidic doesn’t sleep at night.. he just wants to close his eyelids for ‘fun’ (he is watching all you strikers)

when Vidic looks under his bed, apparently the bogeyman is seen shivering in fear.

When vidic points at you, the vibrations of the movement of his waggling finger are enough to send any human crashing into orbit.

Cedars – vida is approaching legendary status at united (depending if you or other united fans think he already is a legend), i can’t describe how much i admire him (ahem! only for football though), he is brilliant and it’s incredible how his fortunes have changed since his debut in which a couple of eyebrows’s were raised, some how i’m amazed how we’ve managed to keep him from the clutches of madrid or barca.

Here is hoping he’ll be a big positive difference maker yet again for united, starting against villa and a couple of his trademark thumping header would be great.

Gotta say, I fuckin LOVE Vida. My second favourite currently playing player. Some more Vida facts. I’m not making this shit up, it’s all scientifically proven…

Guns don’t kill people. Nemanja Vidic kills People.

Nemanja Vidic does not sleep. He waits.

Nemanja Vidic doesn’t read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.

When Nemanja Vidic does a pushup, he isn’t lifting himself up, he’s pushing the Earth down.

In an average living room there are 1,242 objects Nemanja Vidic could use to kill you – including the room itself.

The grass is always greener on the other side, unless Nemanja Vidic has been there. In that case the grass is most likely soaked in blood and tears.

For some, the left testicle is larger than the right one. For Nemanja Vidic, each testicle is larger than the other one.

Nemanja Vidic grinds his coffee with his teeth and boils the water with his own rage.

Nemanja Vidic once ate an entire bottle of sleeping pills. It made him blink.

In a 50-50 challenge, Nemanja Vidic would win 150-nil.

Nemanja Vidic does not “style” his hair. It lays perfectly in place out of sheer terror.

Nemanja Vidic puts the “laughter” in “manslaughter”.

Nemanja Vidic once roundhouse kicked Bruce Lee, breaking him in half. The result was Jet Li and Jackie Chan.

When Alexander Bell invented the telephone, when he first turned it on, he realised he already had 3 missed calls from Nemanja Vidic.

Nemanja Vidic doesn’t call the wrong number. You have simply answered the wrong phone.

There used to be a street named after Nemanja Vidic, but it was changed because nobody crosses Nemanja Vidic and lives.

  30. CedarsDevil says:

    Samuel

Personally I do not consider him a legend, not yet anyway…. Terrific player and has been a major foundation in our defense for many years, however the word legend is used far too easily these days, when I think of the likes of the Holy Trinity, Robson, Cantona etc, those were and are legends… Not sure I would put Vida in that bracket just yet

  31. rohan19 says:

    Injured players:

    Anderson
    Tom Cleverley
    Dimitar Berbatov
    Fabio
    Michael Owen

    Danny Welbec

  32. CedarsDevil says:

    Mes

That was fucking brilliant! Glad you’re enjoying married life buddy, all the best

  33. kanchelskis says:

    @samuel

Speaking of Villa and thumping headers, no matter what you think of their overall capabilities, I’ve noticed that Collins and Dunne are two of the best defensive headers of the ball in the league. They get their ugly, battered bonces on absolutely everything. So solid defending in the air.

I really hope we don’t fall into the trap we did constantly away from home last season, of desperately slinging balls into the box. Those two will get rid of them all day long – especially against midgets like Chicharito and Wazza. On the ground, through the middle, wingers coming inside. That’s the way forward against a team like Villa.

  34. CedarsDevil says:

I loved the Bruce Lee line….. Brilliant stuff

  35. samuel - united WE stand says:

Cedars – i can’t disagree with you on that one, perhaps the legendary status is given hastily these days. given time though, perhaps he will be but as you say, he has been one of the best defenders ever to grace the theatre of dreams.

Of course he isn’t perfect just like any other player but he has contributed very well indeed and will hopefully continue to do so.

  36. samuel - united WE stand says:

Kanchelskis – dunne and collins are the no nonsense type, will defend for their lifes and yes aerially they’re very strong both in their own 18 yard and the opposition box so yeah more creativity will be needed by keeping the ball on the floor and urgency around their box.

I expect villa to put in 100 percent as usual, they’ve lost a few players but they also have a couple like agbolanhor, bent e.t.c who are capable of causing headaches.

Basically united have to be solid at the back and if chances come up front then bury them ruthlessly, one goal may not be enough as their fans will be pushing them to get Something, two or 3 i’m wishing for.

  48. smartalex says:

    Recordings:
Oscar Brand recorded an early version in 1952, but the best known version was recorded by British punk band The Sex Pistols which appears on their Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Swindle album, and was the finale track to the film of the same name. Released as part of a double-A side, it reached No.3 in the UK singles chart in 1979 and was the band’s biggest selling single. Serbian punk rock musician Toni Montano recorded a version of the song, with lyrics in Serbian language entitled “Frigidna je bila”, relying on the Sex Pistols version.
The American thrash metal band Anthrax covered the Sex Pistols’ version, but with different lyrics. In 2006 Loudon Wainwright III recorded it on Rogue’s Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs, and Chanteys. The Boston punk band Showcase Showdown also released a version of the song on a tribute to the Sex Pistols.
When a ship was required in The Goon Show it was often named the “Good Ship Venus” or “HMS Venus”, one of several references to dirty jokes the Goons managed to get past the 1950s BBC censors.

    Origin:
It is possible that this song was inspired by an actual event, where a female convict (Charlotte Badger), sailing on the colonial brigantine Venus, convinced members of the crew to commandeer the vessel, sailing from Port Dalrymple in Van Diemens Land (now Tasmania) in 1806

Fergie mentioned possible loan deals for Kiko and Diouf. Should have done this in the summer, but it’s never too late. Hopefully this experience will prepare Kiko for the first team next season (after Berba and Owen’s possible departures). As for Diouf, I have a feeling that he won’t be back.

The other question about all this is where it leaves Berbatov’s contract situation.

  53. Murphyli says:

  54. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

What do you make of the sudden decision to let Kiko and Diouff go out on loan. If it was the plan from the beginning then why stop them. Was it because Fergie realised that there were oppertunities in the Carling Cup that usually finnishes about now for the youngsters anyway. As a sniff of a final usually makes Fergie bring in the big guns to finish the job. OR do you reckon hes had it, had enough of asking them to go out and prove your worth.

    Hello

When the fuck is Danny back? COSTAS PLEASE!!!!??? Whats even wrong with him?

Looking forward to the lads beginning their defence of the youth cup against Torquay tonight. Some more great young players in Barmby, Rudge, Dahli, Ekangeme etc. Come on lads.

Whats the betting Villa put up a better fight than they did at White Hart Lane two weeks back? THE worst Villa performance I have seen. Oh no as like every team they will be well up for it. Cup final like every game is against United. We have an unfair advantage on that front.

Can’t say I am sad to see Diouf go on loan. Playing him wide left hasnt helped like . Anyway someone like Cole or Lingard should have been given that birth the other night, they couldn thave done any worse.

I like Dion Dublin and at first the other week I thought he was being tongue in cheek when he said its because of him United were so succesful. He breaks his leg and we bring Eric in. Now I am not so sure. Everytime he is fucking wheeled out on tv he says exactly the same thing!! Turn it in Dion mate.

  59. Mes says:

What the hell goes on with out injuries. Is it just that I don’t pay attention to other teams and they’re all in a similar position or is it that we actually do have a disproportionate injurey problem?

I’d look at google for some stats if I wasn’t desperately trying to find a way out of my Orange mobile contract…

Gutted the twins seem so brittle too. They just looked nails and up for anything when they first came along. Now, again this might just be me, but they just don’t seem as up for it as before, as if they have the threat of injury on their minds. Bloody understandable too.

And Kanchelskis, I totally agree. We resorted to some pretty amateur looking play last season. And it seems to be going that way again this season. The old who cares how we play if we win bit only counts if we win… If we’re gonna loose anyway, I’d rather watch the utterly brillaint Barca eat your heart out displays from earlier in the season and loose rather than, what the fuck are we doing and still loose…

Are we really missing Tom this much?

  60. TheCANTONA says:

    The twins injured AGAIN?? Christ…

  61. Costas says:

    @Goat

It’s hard to tell. It’s not like Kiko and Diouf were going to be our strike partnership in league cup games (Berba and Owen seemed like Fergie’s prefered duo). Part of me feels that they stayed at the club because we needed them to fill any holes that our squad has. That’s evident by our carling cup lineups where we’ve seen strikers play in midfield, on the wing or even in defence. Our limited options in midfield and full back led to Park and Valencia playing in those positions which led to Kiko and Diouf taking their place on the wing. I doubt (in Kiko’s case anyway) that he’s had enough of them. But who knows for sure? I imagine that a shake up of out strike department will take place over the next 6 months and these 2 are given 6 months to show if they’ll be part of the next day.

  62. RedManWalking says:

@Jeet – You turning Rajnikanth jokes into Vidic Jokes, mate?

  63. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Can’t say I am sad to see Diouf go on loan. Playing him wide left hasnt helped like .’

They all have to do their time on the wing. Scholes, Rooney, Solksjaer, Wellbeck. I like the fact that Sir Alex moves players around in that way as he did with Richardson as left back. It gives these players a game insight into what its like playing in such a possition and a chance to watch and learn what is expected in their normal possition and how hard it is for the regular winger/left back to feed them with the balls they need and the help in moving off the ball. Its great education but to be honest I have to question Dioufs ability as a footballer and whether he can be taught anymore at this level.

  64. Costas says:

    @King Eric

Hi mate. If I remember correctly Danny got injured while he was with England. But I can’t recall what the problem was. I think he was given 2-3 weeks to return. It just worries me that Fergie hasn’t mentioned him recently. Of course that could mean that he’s back training and is close to returning for us. I hope so anyway.

It’s funny how Fergie was apologetic about the Palace game yet he shrugged off the injury situation as “something that happens to every team” (which it clearly doesn’t). Imo that’s bigger issue for the long term success of the club compared to one bad performance by our second string.

  65. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    Costas
Youjr right in regards the shortages in the squad in general. I was worried at the beginning with only Evra and the daSilvas as full back options. I didnt like the look of Johny at LB and we didnt know about the success Smalling or Jones would have. It hasnt helped that England have had 3 bloody breaks already this season and have used Jones and Smalling. It hasnt helped either that the twins with their Robsonesque all or nothing atitude gets them injured every 5 minutes. I would have like to see deLaet given a chance this year but hes doing well at Norwich. Do you know if hes on a 6 month loan or the full season.?
As for the midfield where do we start. Gibbo is obviously just a fill in and to be honest I feel already reached his plateau. So realistically hes just taking up a youth spot. I mean Gibbo is classed as a prospect but hes not young is he. Hes not in his teens. Hes 24 and in my reckoning you must have had atleast 30 good to great performances by that age to warrant a place in Uniteds squad.

  66. RedManWalking says:

@Costas – He apologized for the Crystal Palace game because the team didn’t play the United way. I felt they gave up towards the end. There was no urgency in their play. Injuries are definitely not his fault. It happens to every team.

  67. WillieRedNut says:

There’s nothing funny about it Costas. The twins are clearly made of glass. I heard Danny was doing light training? Hopefully TC will be back for the festive games. till then, It’s Carrick and Fletch. This was my fear in the summer. Once we got injuries, and players loss of form, the midfield would come under pressure. That’s why we could’ve done with another option in there.(broken record) ;)

  68. RedBlizzard says:

I’ve designed a small graphic representation of who i think Fergie should move for. This is my opinion of course so no offence for any players not included.

    http://www.use.com/showorig.pl?set=dd6fd0258759027a8cb8&p=1

  69. Sparkz says:

I could’ve sworn Welbeck was doing light training before the Benfica game. That was over 10 days ago! We need him back ASAP, he gives us a different option. Not as clinical in front of goal as Chicha (although he does have 5 goals this season), but better hold up and link up play. With Berba and Owen injured, I suppose we’ll see Macheda on the bench again tomorrow? He did score in this fixture last year, absolute screamer as I remember.

With regards to the loan deals….I’ve been saying since August that Fergie made a cock up. Kiko and Diouf should both have been sent on loan, you can’t expect them to come in once a month for Carling Cup football and look like good players. They’re developing players, they need regular football, simple as that.

  70. Costas says:

    @Goat

I feel that Fergie has made up his mind on Gibson, but his injury kept him at the club. And since Carrick and Fletch had to be rested, he started by default at Palace. And even though he did ok, I have to agree that at 24 he won’t get the chances he needs to become a regular for us. Not when Tom returns..

De Laet will be at Norwich until the end of the season I believe. I was also hoping he’d get a chance given O’Shea and Brown’s departures this summer. I remember being impressed with him when I saw him against Valencia 2 years ago. I thought he was ready for the first team then, but.. I don’t have many complaints about Jones and Smalling as right backs, but in the grand scheme of things, playing them there (combined with injuries to Rio) has caused us to change the back 4 too often. For me the biggest negative of having few full backs isn’t that we are exposed there. It’s that we are missing the opportunity to establish Smalling as Rio’s succesor.

    @RedManWalking

My stance was and is that he shouldn’t apologise after a bad result. Not for nothing, but I could name 5 games of the top of my head from the last 12 months where we played worse. In regards to the injuries, that’s where I have to disagree. The players are training under specific training programs and if are dropping down like flies, then personally I can’t blame it on bad luck or say that it’s natural process. Yes, other teams get injuries too, but not at this rate. So all I am saying, is that if Fergie feels the need to be apologetic about something, it shouldn’t be about what happens during games. It’s how the team is prepared ahead of them.

  71. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    RedBlizzard
    Interesting.
Gotze. Hes at Dortmund and they are doing well. Champions last year and with an 80000 stadium why would he neccesarily want to leave his native country to play for United. Germans very rarely move just like the English.
Subotic. Good player, again at a very good club BUT what about Smalling. Jones and Smalling have history together, both fit in here very nicely and more likely than not the England pairing of the future. Why risk adding a jigsaw piece that may not fit for an extortionate fee.
Martinez fit the bill a bit better as we are desperate need of a midfielder who can “play” the game. Carrick is a zonal marker, Fletcher is a work horse best at tackling. Going forward he isnt special. Cleverly is the future in the play making department but Martinez offers another option.
Tiote is a smash and grab player. A bit like Yaya Toure. That type of player generally gets booked every 5 minutes in the finess of the champions league. Good for the rough and tumble premier league but Fergie isnt known for producing teams one for one competition and another for another. Its bloody difficult having players win the premier league and excell and then tell them they’re not good enough for the competition they put all their effort in getting to, see Berbatov.

  72. Sparkz says:

Just thinking as well……..95% sure that Fletcher and Giggs will be the midfield partnership against Basle on Tuesday (coz they’re the only ones available!).

Therefore there’s no way in a million years that Giggsy will play tomorrow, his body can’t handle 2 games in 4 days. And I’m not sure Fletcher can either. In any case, if either of them was to pick up a knock, we’d be screwed….so I’m sort of expecting both of them to be rested.

So who partners Carrick in the middle of the park tomorrow? I doubt it’ll be Park, he was staggering around like a drunk for the last hour against Palace, he was shattered. And I doubt it’ll be Rooney, coz we need him up front (Welbeck, Berba & Owen all out injured).

Could we see a potentially interesting partnership of Carrick & Jones?

  73. Costas says:

    @Sparkz

    It really was a screamer:

    http://www.soccerclips.net/videos/aston-villa-2-1-man-utd-macheda

He’ll probably be on the bench tomorrow, whether Danny makes it or not. Personally I am still fond of Kiko. His first touch isn’t always the best, but his movement in the penalty box is very good.

  74. parryheid says:

    WillieRedNut.

Funny that when I suggested pre season we were substantially weaker going into the new season I came in for ridicule and we are weaker yet. Will say I thought our Back line and front line were first rate and over the last half dozen weeks I’ve been proved wrong looks like serious trouble at mill imo.

  75. WillieRedNut says:

Carrick and Fletch tomorrow. Giggs will play against Benfica.

  76. WillieRedNut says:

    Sorry, Basel.

  77. RedBlizzard says:

    @GoatinaUnitedShirt

personally out of those four i’d rate the priority as:
    Martinez
    Tiote
    Subotic
Goetze(mainly because i feel he’s in the mould of Cleverley)

  78. Costas says:

Park is another option in midfield, especially if we play 4-5-1.

And I have a feeling that the next 2 games will see us playing 4-5-1 with Rooney in midfield. So tomorrow the midfield trio could be Carrick-Fletch-Rooney and on Tuesday Rooney-Fletch-Giggs or Rooney-Fletch-Park.

  79. gaurav12931 says:

I have never really thought of United as being in transition as it was never a case of not knowing when/if Scholes and the Neviller would be retiring. But the transition in my eyes is taking place at the back. Rio is a huge loss. Tacklers and at the moment readers of players intents (vidic) are far more common than readers of the game long before the attack happens (Rio). Rio is on the par with Brucie in regards to this and even though its not nice to see Smalling out wide and the swapping of the back 4 regularly it is neccesary for Smallings development and game time. Smalling is one of these defenders who reads the game so well. Jones is a go get them man, like Vidic. We already have the next pairing. The awkward aspect is allowing all to play. Its too soon to just sell Vidic and let Rio retire but at the same time you cant allow Smalling and Jones to sit for long periods on the bench. Its all just awkward timing but players dont usually come about in 10 year intervals on the dot ready to take over on the others retirement. They come about here and there and blending them in is a constant nighmare.

  84. WillieRedNut says:

It’s not just buying for cover. We will have to start thinking about Paddy’s long term replacement. I do rate Baines. Great going forward. Has improved his defending as well. Still early for Fryers imo. Looks decent though.

    Dumbledore? Isn’t he a batty?

Don’t think Fergie’s that way inclined.

  86. RedBlizzard says:

    @gaurav12931

someone posted that story on the previous thread and referred to the theory that owners are like their dogs. I just thought of Anderson and those dogs. The Bermese Mountain dog is large and often mistaken for fat, but in reality it actually has a really large muscle structure hence its strength.

    Anderson?

    My preference would be
    Martinez
    Gotze
    Subotic
    Tiote

However, Martinez is spanish and spaniards are not fond of the manchester winter (or summer.). Fabregas, Pique have really damaged the prospects of youngsters from Spain coming over to gain there experience especially for the big teams as United isnt a feeder club its the end station. But to a spaniard the end station is Barca or Madrid. If Martinez wasnt spanish Id jump at the chance, I even have reservations abot DeGea in that respect, you just never know, thats the beauty of betrayal, it comes out of the blue.
Gotze is difficult to get hold of because its the same for the Germans as with the Spanish. English players aspire to play for United/Liverpool/Arsenal etc depending on allegiances. Spaniards Barca or Real and the Germans its always been Bayern Munich. But to be fair the Germans are less treacherous and onbce theyve made a decission they stick through it in principle. The same cannot be said of those that hide things under the sauce (Fergies pasta jibe).

  88. smartalex says:

Anderson has a food fetish. He needs to be surrounded by guzzlers. With Bebe gobbling Turkey, Ando went for a pack of voracious hounds as house mates.

  89. WillieRedNut says:

    Sounds the dogs bollox!

  90. smartalex says:

Turkey will have been picked clean by the time Bebe’s loan deal is completed.
    Perhaps he broke the wish-bone.

  93. Sparkz says:

@Willie – I know what you mean, but buying a long term replacement like Baines immediately cuts Fabio & Fryers out of the picture.Coz they’ll be in the same position as they are now, just that there’s a different face ahead of them.

If anything, they should be given the opportunity to show they can be our next LB. Obviously Fabio has his injury issues, and we need him to get over them before pushing him into being Evra’s replacement….but buying someone is a long term commitment, which would seriously hinder the younger players.

As for Fryers…the way I see it is this – full backs generally break into teams at a fairly young age. I suppose its maybe an easier position to blood someone than the centre, or in goal. So his age doesn’t really come into it for me, its not really an issue for his position.

Oh, and leave Dumbledore alone, the man’s an absolute God!

  94. smartalex says:

I wonder how Brown and O’Shea feel about their new manager, Martin O’Neill.
After all, they both emphasised that it was Steve Bruce that was the big attraction.

  96. smartalex says:

Ferguson said: ”Our form last Saturday was excellent, we played as well as we have played all season.
”We needed that little bit of luck around about the goalmouth – that would have made it a good result as Newcastle have been playing really well. ‘We made so many chances we really should have won the game comfortably so I have no problems with that.

”We have a good record at Villa Park – it’s no coincidence that our best records away from home are at Villa Park and Tottenham. To me they represent real football grounds, the atmosphere is good, the crowds are close to the touchline and we have done well down there. But every time we have had to play well down there to win, you can’t just depend on your past record.”

Tomorrow marks Ashley Young’s first return to Villa Park since his move in the summer and Ferguson said he had been delighted with how quickly the 26-year-old had settled in. ”He started off really well and that does not always happen when a player joins Manchester United. We are pleased with that.
”He has done well, he has been a great signing for us and has integrated really well into the squad.”

It is also another chance for Ferguson to cross swords with one of his old stalwarts at Aberdeen ”Alex McLeish has been under scrutiny a wee bit but in the kind of climate of today’s supporters it’s understandable, they don’t have the patience any longer. Because he was manager of Birmingham City it doesn’t help him either but that’s the kind of supporters we have got nowadays – no patience.”

Ferguson blamed the Palace defeat of United’s second-string side on the lack of competitive football that his young players have had, and said he may send Federico Macheda and Mame Biram Diouf out on loan in January. ”The problem is the type of reserve league we have now, it’s really a youth league, and that is a big problem. It (the defeat) bothers me in the sense that the level of training we do was let down. For us it was Rafael’s first game, Darron Gibson’s first game, Mame Diouf’s only played four games this season, Macheda only his third game. That’s not enough football to play in the quarter-final of a League Cup I’m afraid. That caught us and I was surprised of the level of fitness of Crystal Palace against us. In terms of match play we were certainly short.”

Asked about the players going out on loan he added: ”It works well for all young players to get game time and that’s what we are looking at for Macheda and Diouf, they need game time, there is no question about that. Every young players wants to play and we have to give them that opportunity.”

“that’s the kind of supporters we have got nowadays – no patience.”

  99. WillieRedNut says:

Sparkz – I don’t think it would hinder their chances. If you’re good enough, you’ll play. While Fryers has looked good in the league cup, we still don’t know if he can make the step up to the premier league and Europe. I’ll give 2 examples of fullbacks who impressed, but didn’t succeed at United. John O’Kane and Danny Higginbottom. Both impressed me. John O’kane played a stormer against Sheff United in the FA cup. Cantona chipped the keeper. Then he went kung fu fighting soon after! Higginbottom played particularly well at OT. Forget who against. I just mentioned Baines as someone we might be looking at. Not saying, it will happen. After all, we brought in Smalling and Jones. The boss is always is few steps ahead us mere mortals!

  100. wayne says:

On the injury front,Utd must have all top people so you’d have to assume are using proven fitness programs. It’s not like the lads show up and Mick from Rocky is putting them through their paces.i put it down to a combination of bad luck and the fact Utd have injury prone players in the squad.

  101. WillieRedNut says:

    Mick and Rock.

FUCKING HELL PRESSED WRONG BUTTON…FUCKING PUTERS….

    contd of topic

some well founded rumours emanating from around Cardiff during matches are that a certain person whose life ended tragically a couple of days ago was about to be ‘outed’ as having a same sex relationship

  111. Costas says:

I wonder how many times Fabio would pull his hammy while he chased a chicken. ;)

    @willie

Not a full back, but Wallwork was another player that showed promise at first but never made it. Chadwick too. First impressions can be deceiving.

  112. TonyBee says:

never chased any chickens Costas….but have choked a few …..

  113. Costas says:

    Moses is from Cardiff?

  114. RedBlizzard says:

that would make a bit of sense considering it appeared to be a senseless death.

  115. Costas says:

And then I have people telling me that the press should never be censored from exposing the truth. Even if it’s about extremely private matters. Wankers. Imagine Giggs reaching his breaking point after May’s scandal…

    @TonyBee

 Any of them looked like Tevez?

  116. WillieRedNut says:

    Ronnie Wallwork? Memories. ;)

  117. Sparkz says:

All very good points, I have to say. Higginbotham etc are all good examples of players not making the grade. I would rather take a punt on Fryers first, see if he’s good enough, and then make a decision.

With Fabio constantly injured, and a heavy schedule coming up, it may be an opportunity to blood Fryers. Then it’ll give Fergie a good idea of what his likelihood is of making it at Utd.

I will say this – remember Fergie’s comments before the Palace game? The detailed process he goes through before putting young players into the team. He doesn’t do it willy nilly, he puts them in if he genuinely believes they’re ready to be tested in the first team environment. The fact that he’s given Fryers game time in the Cup, plus had him on the bench for a couple of League and European games is an indication that he may be ready to get a few games here and there. Nothing major, but just enough to gauge his potential.

  118. Mikekelly12 says:

Vida…. He plays we generally don’t concede! He’s that important!!
    Evening all!!

  119. smartalex says:

I don’t think that would make him commit suicide.

How would dying stop the news coming out?

You are what you are. Any fear of being outed becomes relief once you are.

  120. smartalex says:

    Phew! Now I feel better!

  121. RedBlizzard says:

sometimes the fear of leaving with something is stronger than the actual effect of the thing itself, of course you get those individuals who are willing to take it on.

  122. wayne says:

@smartalex hi mate already counted them, waiting for the package.lol
in the Speed situation i got lambasted for suggesting he might of took the easy way out.Everyone on the blog that day assumed he had a mental illness and i was being a cunt.If it’s true that he was gay probably felt shame, thinking his reputation would be damaged, life would change all these things can lead someone to the brink.

  123. smartalex says:

It seems likely to me that the cause of death was not suicide, I suspect foul play. I’m sure I am not alone in this. Murder. A gruesome end, but to some at least, more palatable.

  124. King Eric says:

    Cheers Costas .

Why on earth can’t Fletch play two games in a week? He is only fucking 27?

  125. WillieRedNut says:

King Eric – Doubt it’s anything serious mate. We’re low in numbers, so can’t afford another injury to Fletch, or Carrick. God forbid, eh? Jones might have to play a few games in there.

  126. parryheid says:

I wonder if that’s why Eikrem didn’t get played ? as he has proved with Molde he’s not worth a damn.

  127. Costas says:

What is this? Eurovision? Where’s the damn draw?

    @KE

He definitely can mate. But given Fergie’s rotating, maybe he will want him fresh for Basle. Imo we need Fletch tomorrow.

  128. akanemo says:

  129. WillieRedNut says:

  142. Costas says:

    @willie

I’d prefer it this way if I was Irish. If you are going to go home after 3 matches, you might as well play the top teams. By contrast, Greece will face Poland, Russia and the Czech Republic. Anti climatic and we will still get eliminated.

    No group of debt shockingly…

  153. James21 says:

    Vidic is a Rock.

Wouldn’t consider any of the groups easy really. Well unless you’re any good, unfortunately ROI got a stinker of a group.

Manchester Utd- England Cricket- England Football.

    Man U :D

    I only support one team

    Cedars

Sick yo is the best one in school

    Evening Cedars

    ;)

  161. Costas says:

Rooney will definitely miss the France and Sweden games. So England will finish 2nd and end up against Spain in the quarters. Is there any reason for him to join the squad anymore?

  162. Fred says:

So why aren’t Brazil in this thing?

  163. CedarsDevil says:

Fred – That is as far as I can go before throwing up! hahaha

Evening MG, oh by the way read one of the worst references yet, ManYoo! Ha?

  164. WillieRedNut says:

Alan Brazil will be there. 8)

  165. Costas says:

    @willie

Look at it like this. Poland are the hosts, so Uefa will find a way to get through to the next stage. Russia and the Czechs are out for blood after 04. So what chance do we really have? On paper it looks good, but that’s usually when teams like Greece lose their footing. Thanks anyway!

  166. redbilly says:

    No problem fred.

  167. Fred says:

Costas – two weeks away from his wife and Ukranian pussy on tap… you bet your ass it’s worth him joining the squad!

    - I doubt we’ll rest Fletch again, he’s already had a break this week.

Good evening lovely Red Devils around the world.

This thread is for Fred :P

  172. Fred says:

Costas – are you alleging corruption in football? HOW DARE YOU, SIR?! :x

 To be fair, Austria and the Swiss cheese didn’t make it out of their groups last time around, so maybe the Polskis won’t get preferential treatment from UEFA in 2012.

  173. MG says:

    Cedars

Watch it or else you’ll be dreaming sheep and goats

    Evening Sandeep1878 ;)

  174. Fred says:

Sandeep, my good man, you seem to think that I don’t like our beloved captain, Namanda Vidick. You are totally WRONG, sir!

I bet Rooney is dying to join the squad after watching the ceremoney’s hostess.

    @Fred

Good point about the last Euro. But that was central Europe. I have a feeling that this time they’ll have a harder time selling tickets for the next round if the hosts get eliminated. It’s called the World Cup 2002 phenomenon. ;)

But then again, it’s hard for me to imagine any sort of corruption in football. :P

  189. King Eric says:

  191. supatrice says:

I fucking love it that The foreign lads understand, or have the songs we sing for them explained by the Enlglish boys. I bet it makes them feel more emotionally attached to the fans and the club. I can certainly imagine him humming “he’ll fucking murder yaaaa” while brushing his teeth before bed.

  192. Fred says:

King Eric – glad you get a laugh out of my offbeat sense of humour. :) Seeing as you’re so excited about Euro 2012, here are the full groups…

    Group B:
    Holland
    Denmark
    Germany

Cedars’ man crush was also playing for Ireland.

  196. CedarsDevil says:

  198. CedarsDevil says:

    Fred and Costas

You buggers make me feel really old, I have faint recollections of the 74 WC, best for me were 78 because of the Dutch (No England again! hahaha) and 82 because of THAT amazing Brazil team… Totally lost interest in that fake tournament after that

  202. Costas says:

Fred just described everything that was great about World Cup 94. ;) Not a lot of great football, but a lot of inspirational players if you weren’t a football fan.

  204. Fred says:

King Eric – Yeah, he might spring a surprise on Italy. They can’t be much cop these days, can they? Especially with a clown like Balotelli as one of their top players. What about France? Larry White and a bunch of snood-wearing pricks. They’ll do nothing. Germany and Spain will piss it.

    Costas – cheers. Here’s a scorcher from that summer of ’94: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4vmHexUX7Y& 8)

Nice one. What a goal hey? Some will tell you that he intended to cross the ball, but we know better. :) Colombia were Pele’s favorites to win it. Wise beyond his years.

  206. Fred says:

Costas – that was no cross, pal. 8) Luis Figo against us in 2003 – THAT was a cross. :x

Hey, maybe Bebe is a big Hagi fan and was trying to recreate this goal against Wolves last season; that’s why whenever he got the opportunity to cross, he just blasted the ball as hard as he could… :?
