At a recent LMA fundraiser, Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, and Sir Alex Ferguson were asked questions on a variety of topics.
They both agreed with the decisions of Alan Curbishley and Kevin Keegan to walk out on their clubs, before Fergie almost hit Wenger over the head with his microphone after the Arsenal boss claimed his most desired signing from United was Cristiano Ronaldo (he obviously already got his top priority when adding Mikael Silvestre to his squad!)
However, it must be said both were rather sheepish when asked if they’d grown to like each other. Ferguson told the audience to wait until the next game!

Stick em in a theatre box in 10 years time and you’ll have Waldorf and Statler from the muppets – you’ll need the Spurs team on stage to make up the full cast obviously.
Ok Chrissie wins the entire Internet with that comment. Spot on!
I’m so happy to see these two great men sit side-by-side.
Things have really changed between them and I’m so happy to see that they indeed like each other and respect each other. But that does not take away the hunger to get one over each other. I like Ferguson’s “wait till the next game..” I’m an Arsenal fan and know that on the pitch, its a very different story. It is clear Ferguson now respects the quality at Arsenal. About Wenger talking of Ronaldo, it was good to see that Ferguson was free to joke with the microphone. I hope the good relationship continues. Arsenal and Man United are two clubs with history in this country and the rivalry is second to none. C’mon Arsenal…we can bring home one of the PL or CL this year.
Legends!!!!
I doubt they really like each other, just professional courtesy. I think Fergie is probably more of friends with Moyes. However Wenger has been standing up for us this season: like his comments over the Ronaldo case, the Berbatov saga and him saying that he’s sure we’ll bounce back…doesn’t make me like him any better though, but respect to him.
he’s an intellegent man , wenger , and i respect him a lot , not least for the way his side plays the beautiful game .
ach..! too much praise for one day.
both LEGENDS for what they both gave to the game.
haha brilliant
great to see…saw the whole interview and evening…brilliant compelling viewing
how are they going to be replaced
