“I don’t wish I’d stuck around at all. A club like United is cutthroat, win at all costs, whereas here, you know you’re not going to win every game but the players we’ve got bottle and don’t give anyone a second breath. There is more pressure at United, without a doubt. Even if we drew there, it was the end of the world. I wouldn’t go back. I’m having more fun, that’s a huge part of football. It’s tough at United and in training it’s very serious. There is more of a relaxed atmosphere here. It’s up to me to show United what they’re missing.”
Missing you, Ben.

Man Utd News 24/7

We don’t miss you, Ben. Good luck there!
When I first read those quotes a couple of weeks ago, I was glad we got rid of this clown. Obviously hasn’t got the mentality to cut it at the very top, just the type of player we don’t need! Hope he does the same for England hahaha!
Haha!!was thinking the exact same thing
Last night!!
Typical Ben Flopster, committing another howler. What a rubbish keeper and it is a good thing we got rid of him, he didnt leave us like he is trying to make out, we dumped his howling flop ass. The English Taibi continues to show what a awful keeper he is, never good enough to be at United, just a plain crap goalie. I’m amazed he didnt retire with all the howlers he made at United, what a crap goalie Ben ‘the howler’ Flopster is.
yes we miss you.. we miss your howlers but FYI it’s bloody damn great miss.
Bit harsh, surely?
I don’t think Ben Foster is a ‘crap’ goalkeeper. He just doesn’t have the mentality or the concentration to make it at the very top. I felt sorry for him when he was at United, he was out of his depth.
All keepers make mistakes, our very own VDS made one against WBA, it’s how you kick on once you have made them.
yeah ben you’ve shown us…..
good luck in the championship
I have seen some immense performances from Ben foster this season and at about 27 years of age might still come good!
Those who are quick to write this lad off might just be a little premature!
I remember Brad Fridel at Liverpool making a few mistakes at a similar age, moved clubs and since has been immense. Fridel has cost us points single handedly over the years! I remember 1 stunning performance when he was at Blackburn where we battered them the whole game where he was outstanding.
one of the softest goals ever – no excuse for that at all – Cole hardly caught it, more like a back pass!!!
@Fergie is God: That was too much. He made a decent save earlier in that match. He is a good goalie but does not have a good mentality which is required for the best ones. But again, I think all English goalkeepers are like that, they lack that kind of quality.
Along with the occasional howler, which all keepers can have, he is not composed on the ball and his distribution is brutal.
However it shows lack of spine to whinge about his ex club when he was given ample chances to show he could step up.
Glad to hear he is having fun in training though, he should bring along a pack of cards and really up the fun rate.
Last night our beloved Ben showed everybody excatly why he is not a United player anymore. Few more blunders like these and he will go to relax even more in a Championship side!
good grief he’s out of United
Priceless.
Flopster’s distribution is poor and because he is english, any save he makes is ‘a very good save’ or ‘world class’ even if it is straight at him. The commentators are desperately trying to build up English goalkeepers but there’s a problem – They’re not up to it.
How many mistakes do you have to make as a goalkeeper before you’re called a liability? I know he played for the murderers but even david james prob made less mistakes than foster and he’s called calamity james.
Flopster made mistakes at Watford, united and now Birmingham. Its not the first he’s made at Birmingam either. He’s League One standard at best. he was stoke’s 3rd choice when we signed him!
Not gonna slate the guy but he knew himself that he didnt have what it took to becoame a United goalie.Good luck Ben and I hope you make it.
Ouch. A disaster of a goalkeeper. Fergie did well to get 6m for him
don’t u miss trophies eh? wish you good luck though!
taibi’s act : volume 2. luckily its not for united though..LOL
Some of the more sensible comments have mentioned VDS’ error against WBA, it happens all the time and as has been said its how you come back.
The one issue I have is Foster saying how serious it was at UTD, win at all costs, a draw is the end of the world. Well I’m not going to contradict those comments but I imagine much the same atmosphere is prevalent at most clubs who are at the sharp end of things, City, Arsenal, Liverpool even, Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern, AC Milan etc etc.
Thats the difference Ben, if you’re at a club where being the best is the driving force then what do you expect, its much the reason why I think Matt Le Tissier never moved to a bigger for just that reason.
mattbw7 – It happens all the time? Really? VDS’ error against West Brom was, as far as I can remember, his first clanger since that rush of blood he got at Anfield in 2008.
It doesn’t happen to top keepers all the time.
Bloody idiot, against West Ham he let a goal in at his near post, then he he tried to sit on another one.
Lacked the mentality to cope at Manchester United, if anything his comments prove that.
I meant goalkeeping errors happen all the time, not picking VDS all the time and in any case my real point was do with the Fosters knocking the winning attitude at the club.
I fucking laughed last night “Live” on ROM at the time.He is a fucking joke keeper.
As for his comments regards the Green and Gold campaign, fucking numbskull.
Most on here will have not read or understand the article.
Aye missing you Ben, like a fucking hole in the head.
Just shut the fuck up you Clown. You deserve everything you get, fuck all.
I have work to do.It dont involve ballsups
The jester/clown having fun hahahahah!!!!!!
mattbw7 – I agree Foster’s mentality isn’t good enough for United, but his ability isn’t either. Keepers in the bottom half of the table might have errors ‘all the time’ (although you don’t see loads of them) but a keeper at the best clubs can’t afford to make them and keep their place (apart from the dark days between Schmeichel and VDS). Foster makes a lot of errors.
Goalkeeping is about the mentality as much as anything, and this guy doesn’t have it at the highest level. It’s a shame we wasted our time on him if that has always been his attitude, but I suspect it’s sour grapes more than anything.
Scott the Red no argument from me there regarding Foster, though I would counter slightly and say his technique isnt to bad its just that the mistakes he made at UTD and last night appeared more a lack of where his position should be or just switching off, wonder if Mr Cappello saw it.
You were given your chance at the Worlds Biggest Club and you blew it Foster. The pressure was too much to handle and yet again in first important match (bar the Man Utd game) you blew it again.
Simply put, a good keeper that cracks under pressure.
Amen to that Gorse Hill Red
I really don’t get why Foster is being slagged off for simply saying that at United we have a win at all costs mentallity, and a draw is the end of the world, and training is serious stuff… and that he prefers the more relaxed atmosphere of Birmingham…. I mean, fair enough!! I’m glad that is how our club is, and if that’s not for Ben then fair enough…. I don’t see what the problem is if he wants to be more relaxed about his football… i’m sure they’re a lot of proffessional footballers with similar attitudes!!
The fact that people are slagging him off for basically being honest and saying how he feels is mind boggling… especially when he’s not really saying anything bad about United!
Obviously hi commentss means he’s not the kind of player for us, but he himself has so much as admitted that, and now is trying to do well at a club where he is enjoying himself…. and fair play to him!! I for one will be giving him a cheer and some applause in 2 weeks time when he returns to OT.
Also… he’s been a cracking keeper for Birmingham so far this season, and so one mistake won’t define the year for him. (See VDS vs. West Brom)
Yeah Foster, compare our training all you want to Birmingham’s, that’s why we win stuff and they don’t. The answer in your statement…
As a United keeper, it’s statistically correct to say you will face fewer shots on goal than at other clubs so the howlers are going to amplified when they happen. The problem with Foster is he had quite a few of them at United. He wasn’t deserving to wear the number 1 or even be the backup for that matter but to then leave and slag off United is beyond reproach. Just leave and shut yer gob about not making it at United.
FloridaManc – Where exactly has he slagged off United?? (Note: Thats the club, not the fans)
Foster says “. There is more of a relaxed atmosphere here. It’s up to me to show United what they’re missing.”
Avram Grant doesn’t look relaxed in the video.
Thanks Ben, for reminding us on what we’re missing.
The moment Tevez nicked the ball to set up Barry I knew Foster was gone. I mean he knew how fast the Argie cunt was, and that city are hated enemies, but he still took an unnecessary risk. It’s not about making a mistake, it’s about being a flustered fool.
To err is human. To forget Ben, divine!
Oh dear. At least things aren’t so cut throat at Birmingham even though this could be costly for their League cup expectations…
Poor Ben, his confidence is now shot & his pride too. I see good keeper’s performance in terms of percentage & right now Ben is at 55%. He needs to make many many good saves to bring this up.
Hahahahaha, what a idiot.
Ben Foster you bellend!
I’ll go with the theme, ha ha ha Foster.
Those comments were always going to come back and bite his ass, big time, weren’t they? It was a damn fool thing to say and he’s going to be haunted by it for a very long time. It seems remarkable to me that someone could have enough talent to get into the PL, play for their country, get accepted by the biggest club in the world … and then just not have the drive and attitude to make the most of it. I can understand an older, “been-there, done-that” player wanting to play out his days in a less-demanding environment, but not a youngster coming up. Psychologically, he’s just not suited.
Got to wonder what his current teammates think about it, too. They may not be brilliant, but they’ve got pride, haven’t they? And while they’re never going to win the PL, I gotta assume they want to stay in it and are prepared to try their damndest to achieve that. I mean, the guy freely admits that he doesn’t want to be pressured to win, prefers to be relaxed about winning, and likes being at a club where losing isn’t the end of the world and is almost expected … and then goes and lets in a soft goal like that? seriously, it’s a wonder he can find employment as a professional footballer at all.
Do you guys remember before the Manchester Derby what Tevez said?
He said the city team would be targetting Foster, Tevez trained with him for what 2 years? he knew Fosters suspectible to mistakes and it hasn’t changed.
He’s an okay keeper but poor mentality and decision making, Birmingham will probably be his level.
Ben Foster: goalkeeping’s answer to Ronnie Rosenthal..
good riddance to bad rubbish …..and he’s a gobby cunt
No comment
on another note, I don’t wanna listen to this commentator saying “goooaallllll” again -.-
I was at the Birmingham game and we were behind Ben Fosters goal, not once did he acknowledge the united fans, he didnt even clap or anything and when they got the equaliser he turned to the united fans and celebrated like he won the preimer league. Respect of Ben Foster was lost after his comments and his attitude towards the united away fans… Fck the Flopster!!
I bet Alex Mcleish was jumping around and high 5ving you after that !! Looser !!
What. Was. That.
Never had the mentality to hack it at a massive club and this comment just reiterates that even more, yes you make mistakes but bouncing back stronger is what matters but seems like he never believed in himself much, an outstanding shot stopper but lacking in other aspects of goal keeping, anyway good luck with your career at birmingham city, just not against united.
I can understand people not having enough talent. I will never understand people not having enough desire.
Quite funny how shit changes around here, one has to look back when VDS was injured last season and Foster took his spot. 80% of ppl on this blog were raving about him like he was some sort of bees knees, and all he provided was mediocre performances. On top of that when i mentioned that Kuszczak was twice the keeper of Foster, i was laughed at. Just shows what a bunch of tools frequent this blog. (glory hunters)
Also its the same story with Rooney, when he was scoring goals he was the “mighty god” of United. After Scott ran few articles about him making few mistakes (which i dont support myself) all of the sudden he was labeled as a “cunt” “asshole” etc…. Hes a human being and then a footballer, he did what he did but hes still committed to United and you lot pretty much shat on his name just because hes a human? People change, circumstances change, and you can not hold ones tongue out just because he did or said something in the past under different circumstances.
dude. he let in goals from a malaysian side during a friendly with Man U in july’09. nuff said.

For those of u slagging this guy off , thats not needed,he did his best for us,did not say anything bad about us at anytime.
He did do well for Birmigham in the league against our nearest rivals.
His comments shows he does not thrive or handle the pressure well, most of us have learnt how the pressure can make even the best players look average.
He is a brilliant keeper but not at the level we wanted and he llooks comfortable at birmigham.
His first mistake was understandable with his own player blocking him,the second was loss of concentration, that was why he had to leave us.
The look of anguish on his face, sad, he shud quickly recover.
good luck to this kid,Manutd changed his life for the better when we picked him out of the lower leagues and he has given us the respect ,so I hope he does well always against our nearest rivals.
