Sheffield United midfielder, Lee Askham, has been offered a trial at Old Trafford, following rave reviews of his performances in the England youth teams.
The lad is a right winger, known to be a “tremendous dribbler of the ball”, meaning he could come in handy when Cristiano Ronaldo leaves.
He scored at the weekend for Sheffield United’s U-18 team and is apparently keen to seal a permanent move to our club.
The club’s official website describes him as “an agile midfielder who enjoys having the ball at his feet and running at defenders.”

does seem to have a skill and similar frame to ronnie. how tall is he? would love to have another english lad. anyone know how we spotted him? i wonder with the loss of quieroz if we start taking more of the local talent, or at least looking at it. either way, from what i see, would love to see this lad given a shot amonst our boys
He looks good Scott, and is young too. Plus he’s british, so would need little climatising. The player I would like to see the most is a precocious winger that is ready to play now or wait in the background so as to fill the void in our wing quartet (Nani, Ronnie, Park and Giggs) when Giggs retires. He should be fast, have the ability to get past players, playmake and have a good shot on him.
There is a player that was introduced to me by grognard on red rants; his name is Marko Marin (look him up on youtube). He is the type of winger I was hoping for, precociously talented, fast, can get past players, shoot, cross.. a young ryan giggs but with the ability to play comfortably on both wings. His qualities would complement United perfectly, especially our rapid counter-attack game. Plus he’s german, those guys are consistent in their performances (I know, stereotyping, but it’s true). Also, he has been playing in Europe, in a faster league – similar to England’s – so that will be a plus as he might need less climatisation.
Seriously, this lad could be a walcott in the making for us, he’s the same age, a bit shorter, but taller than tevez, lennon and phillips, so he could survive in the prem. He looks a gem and i hope Bayern Munich don’t snap him up (as they do all young German prospects)… what do you think of him Scott?
Also, just found out he played in our Academy premier league game against huddersfield as a trialist and scored the 3rd goal in our 5-0 victory over them… nice way to impress, eh?

Totally agree with you on Marko Marin too, it’ll be interesting to see how well he does in the Bundesliga proper this season seeing as Gladbach got promoted last season.
everybody looks good on you tube.. i rem watchin gareth bale and droolin over the prospect of him joining us,when there was speculation, i dont see the same bale for spurs, same case with nani, regular winger running his ass out at the wings and nothin comin out of it!
just saw askham’s goal, good technique.. seems to be good on both feet. He should at least get accepted by us, cuz we do not have any promising wingers in the academy/reserves.
Christovski, he will shine in the bundesliga, there’s no doubt about it, the only problem will be that everyone will then want a piece of him and his price will sky-rocket . Our scouts have never really produced anything from germany for us, maybe they should start with this kid…
tasty skills. he looks the part technique-wise. and there is the point made, n667 i believe, that everyone looks good on the ‘tube. proven managers have made purchases on the strength of a taped performance and rued their mistake. but will he, if he indeed does sign for us, have the necessary dedication and character to make it. signing for united has proven to be the undoing of many a young starlet. hopefully he will get his head down and focus on developing and impressing, and not on the hype.
I’ve always been impressed by Gareth Bale…The match at OT last year in the prem he was a real menace, bombing up and down the left flank. Just looks like he is a tad injury prone which sucks for him
