VIDEO: Chicharito Scores Brace

After scoring a hattrick against El Salvador in the opening game of the Gold Cup, Chicharito has made it five goals in two games following his efforts against Cuba.

He scored the opener with his head before half time. Giovani Dos Santos and Aldo De Nigris made it 4-0 between them, before Chicharito added the 5th.

Chicharito is the competition’s top scorer at the moment, with three more goals than any other player.

Mexico are top of their group and as it stands at this very early stage, are set to play Honduras or Guadeloupe in the quarter-finals.

Gotta love those commentators. Don’t know where they get their energy from but they’re awesome.

As for Chicharito, there’s nothing more to sat that hasn’t already been said about him. I almost had a neck spasm at the way he headed that ball for the first goal. My only fear is burnout but I don’t think that will be allowed to happen.

Oh, and I am always reminded of dela’s (I think???) response here ROM about Chicha.

Somebody: Berba is better than Chicha. All Chicharito does is score goals.
dela (I think): What more do you want him to do? Wear a cape and fly!

  5. devil without a cause says:

  16. Saad says:

Chicharito is on a Tommy Taylor-ish goalscoring rate for his country. It’s freaky!

  17. gazzer says:

Hey people, imagine my surprise opening the paper yesterday to see that Chicharito was here in town (Charlotte NC) with Mexico!! I bought a ticket along with 45,000 Mexicans and tried to blend in….
His movement was great, he shared his celebration with whoever gave him the ball (unlike Dos Santos) and they all love him. Just like us!!!

Goals Galorious goals from our wonderful Javier Hernandez! No off season for him.

    Well done Mexico!

  23. bbabyj says:

Not a good idea to leave Javier unmarked… nice finish for 5-0 :)

  24. Mexico is RED says:

    @ROZZEY is already RED.

It is great to have this boy in our lines, he loves play football… Last tournament Giovani dos Santos was the Most Value Player, I think this year Chicharito will be the MVP…
Bring to Gold Cup to Mexico once again…

  25. Gee says:

He is going to be the most prolific striker we have ever had IMO, Ruud was amazing and of course the Lawman was awesome, but this kid reminds me so much of the finishing of Ronaldo (Brazilian one), not the skill at going past players, just the fact that like Ronaldo (before the problems) he doesnt miss even if he miss hits the ball!! PHENOMENAL!!

  26. Fred says:

Welcome to the blog, our Mexican friends. :)
