Christian Benitez, also known as Chucho, spent last season on loan at Birmingham City. He made his début at Old Trafford and forced a great save from Ben Foster in a game United won 1-0. His first goal for Birmingham was in their 2-2 draw at Anfield against Liverpool but when his loan deal ended in the summer he returned to Santos Laguna.
This weekend, he scored a 93rd minute winner against Necaxa in the Primera División de México game, putting them 2nd in the league.
So, why am I telling you this? Well, after scoring the goal, Chucho ran to collect a t-shirt with a message for his International team mate, Antonio Valencia, urging him to return “help of God.”

Man Utd News 24/7

Good guy
Here is the business. Great to return focus and strong support on Antonio. One of our fallen who we all want to support and see get back to greatness on the OT pitch.
Would like to see some discussion about Brucies comments about “blades”. The context of those remarks made me think they were in response to TonyVs injury. I posted a couple of times on this, asking for clarification of whether Tony was wearing blades. Some said No, others seemed to think yes. Do United players ever wear blades, has their been a ban on them?
I just watching the revserve game why stewart are back ?
seem to think there was a ban on blades at Utd after Beckham breaking foot
I remember Forlan got in trouble for wearing blades because he fell over and missed a sitter. It seems like a no brainer to me, why would a player wear them?
@Buytheclub2012 He is only back for that game, , he’ll return to YEOVIL at the end of the week. Dunno why though.
get well soone velencia. man united away to burry toinght in the manchester cup we are up 2-1 brady with both goals on e from free kick
OP and Doghouse. I heard the same. Question is whether Valencia was wearing some new kind of Blades. The interview with Bruce would make me think that it had been something related to this. Otherwise I am totally confused. Nothing new in that though
The shirt said ” Animo Valencia. Dios esta contigo” which means ” Courage valencia, God is with you”. Good on Chucho.
Off topic, Scott, have you seen the Barclays all-time Premiership XI?
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/18092010/58/premier-league-fans-choose-time-xi.html
An interesting read- 7 United players in the 11, not surprisingly. The twats still picked Stevie Me ahead of Keano in centre mid.
Totally gutted for Antonio and wish him a speedy recovery.
Fergie sign him up
the all time best 11 for me no bias lol well a little bias since united are the bees knees of the prem
schmeicheal
g neville Adams pallister irwin
ronaldo keane scholes giggs
henry cantona
subs
seaman bruce evra vierra beckham shearer owen
ronaldo has to be in the 11. no offence beckham. becks was more image than real genius talent. and ronaldo scholes giggs henry cantona are genius players would would walk into any world 11
the reason why stweart is back he pick up an injury anf jiust back from recorving and needs a ganme to build up his match fitness
Thanks Chucho.
dela – did these idiots ever realise stevie me is not a natural CM player. He is no keane scholes or vierra for dominating a midfield, he cant run a game like xavi does for barca. and TSW’s only decision he got right is not play stevie me in CM.
Henry picked over Alan Shearer or Andy Cole? The Premiership’s top two goalscorers? Dear Lord…
Costas – shearer and cole are good but I would pick henry over them, I forgot to add van nistlerooy ahead of owen on bench
@RTNK
Don’t know mate. I’ve never rated him too highly. A talented player, but no way in the best XI the premiership has seen. I’d take Ruud ahead of him anyday.
@RTNK
I know. And Stevie Me has done fuck all in the premiership compared to Keane or Vieira.
Agree with your team almost entirely. I’d still go with Paddy Evra at leftback though.
Costas – really I am surprised there. thiery henry I always thought was the best striker I had seen in the premiership behind ronaldo now. He was arsenals ronaldo, van nistlerooy despite scoring goal after goal he had his limitations and he relied on the service more, while henry would probably make united’s 03/04 squad seem a much better team than they actually were.
na dela – evra has done well for united but irwin played well over a decade for united. And he owned the LB spot in the premiership for united between 92 to 2000.
while evra has only played at LB for united for 4 years, he is still behind irwin. Plus irwin could score some free kicks and he was united’s penalty taker for a phew years, taking over cantona’s mantle has uniteds main penalty taker. These give Dennis extra pts plus Dennis is a united legend.
Like was mentioned before, the message said “Courage to Valencia” and then “God is with you Valencia”
Lovely of him to do that though.
Henry was fucking class in his prime, not many better tbh. The problem with these all time elevens is we’re always gonna pick our own players, me personally, I’d have the wee genius Zola in my all time premiership eleven, up front with Henry.
@RTNK, Costas
I never really liked Henry either but there is no denying that Arsenal would have been nowhere without him spearheading their attack. Worthy of his place in the XI alright, though it does irk me a bit to see that Andy Cole doesn’t find a place even on the bench.
@RTNK
Not going to argue that he was United quality. He was. Or that I was afraid of him when we were playing Arsenal. It’s just that when I think about Premiership strikers, he doesn’t come to mind. Again in my opinion, I think he is someone who’s legendary status has been enhanced by the media.
These choices must be from fans who haven’t watched a lot of Premier League action before 2000. Hence why Henry, Evra and Gerrard have gotten the nod over others.
@Costas
As the list was done through a poll it is safe to assume that most voters are on the young side. I would have put Irwin ahead of Evra, and Terry???? What a joke… Bruce, Rio, Sol… easily ahead of him imo
Costas – I don’t think the media hyped Henry up, you just have to look at his scoring and assist stats, it’s up there with the best. Agree with Irwin over Evra, as anyone who watched Denis will testify, the guy was always consistent, and was comfortable at RB, LB.
@dela
He was influential, no doubt. But I’d beg to differ that Viera was a bigger influence. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Viera’s last kick for Arsenal gave them their last trophy to this day.
@CedarsDevil
Oh they had to include Tiny Tears. No one wants to see him cry again. Shame for the others, especially Rio.
Costas – I agree there, but what I cant have from idiots is stevie me ahead of roy keane. jamie carragher like him or hate him – I find he has a real football knowledge of the game, never picked gerrard in his all time 11 and on players he would love in liverpools team gerrard is not there.
beckham I am not being funny, but kanchelskis ronaldo giggs etc I would pick over beckham out wide. beckham was always hit and miss – and after 99 he was never really that player who helped drive united to the treble. But how can gerrard and beckham make the midfield over guys like ronaldo keane vierra etc. I mean these guys are miles better than the 2 English boys and in the big big games these 3 you want in the biggest games of all especially the CL final.
willierednut – yea also remember he was on the end to score of the best 1 touch pass of a united team when they scored at Wimbledon. Also he also chipped in with average at times of 5 or 6 goals a season from free kicks or penalty’s, which evra never had this ability. remember his free kick against the scousers at anfield in 94 that was genius from a LB from the underated ability of irwin.
henry was genius in 2004 he was something truly special well ahead of van nistlreooy has a overall player. cole and shearer are not in henrys league, henry should have been crowned world player of the year he was that good.
@willierednut
I did and it is impressive. I am not denying that. However, one would argue that it wa down to the players he was surrounded with. Just like Ruud at United, Henry had great service. Again, I hate the scum, but look at what Shearer achieved with less talented teams.
@RTNK
Well, Beckham was a Premiership constant for 8 years. And he wasn’t your typical winger, but he was very productive until the end of his tenure. Ronaldo, for all his amazing talents, we only got to see the best of him in 3 seasons. He was like a firework. He shined brightly but we didn’t see him long enough.
@Costas
Ronaldo wasn’t around long enough, I agree, but for the last three seasons he was with us, he was the best player in the world, never mind England.
@RTNK
I was still in kindergarten when Irwin made his debut for us and I only saw him play from ’97 onwards, so I really can’t comment.
Costas – true but ronaldo did more in 2 years in what beckham did overall. even in ronaldo’s early years he was more exciting than beckham. while beckham years like 96 97 98 and some parts of 2002 and 2003 – they were not much better than ronaldo in 2003 2004 2005 and some parts of 2006. beckhams only good years were? the 2001/2002 season. and 98/99 season that stands out. which overall I give the nod to ronaldo, plus beckhams private life effected his on-field performances after 99
Costas – He made a lot of chances for himself, with a great turn of speed he had, as i say, not many better in his prime. I’d always have Ruud over Shearer, that’s with my red tinted glasses on.
if we had shearer we would not have won the treble and I do not think we would have won has much
Nice one chucho! Great goal by the way. I thought he looked a dangerous player when he was in the prem. Never seemed to find that clinical streak in terms of scoring goals, but he created chances and made things happen for birmingham when he was playing.
