Dont want to get carried away but this lad really has confidence in himself.Finishing is good as well. However we should not start comparisions with Drogba, Saha or anyone else. Let him just be himself

Berbatov Take note. Your starting spot is going to be under severe pressure and maybe next year Diouf will nail a permanent starting spot for himself

  2. MrRams says:

The boy done good, i heard a lot about him when he was at Molde, i can see him following the pattern of Ole, if he could be half as good as him, then we have a decent signing. He seems pretty strong and confident on the ball too. If he gets his push out to the first team a little more regularly, he’s got the upper body strength to hold the ball up well.
Will be interesting to see how he plays with Wayne. Fingers crossed it becomes a beautiful partnership one day

  3. Briggsy says:

Thought he looked good when he came on for a couple of minutes against City. Unlucky not to tuck his header away as well. Looks quick powerful and clinical, not bad for 22.

  4. paddysjumper says:

looks a very interesting player , diff to what we have , his style with pace and power could be perfect to play off wayne , i read reports from molde that the lad couldnt finish , looks ok to me , so far , a long way to go though as we have had many players in the past that excite straight away and dont end up as much , hope he is the real deal :)

    AIG
Berbatov Take note???? are you crazy
this guy diouf looks fantastic and can well be a huge part of uniteds future but the fact is Berbatov is here and fully fit starts will start and diouf isnt in the plans to replace anyone and theres no first team striker gonna get replaced

  6. aig alex is god says:

    ghtt

maybe i am but i am expecting this lad to make an instant impact and give Berbatov a good run for his money.Berbatov is a good player but his partnership with Rooney has been good at times and has been poor most of the times. If diouf can develop a better understanding with Rooney he will get the nod ahead of Berbatov

  7. stretfordender says:

Lads come on, got to agree with GHTT, This happened last year with Kiko, people who follow the youth/reserves knew about how much potential he had, he scored a hat trick against Newcastle before he scored against villa, Diouf should therefore get his chance, but replacing Berbatov is ridiculous, he has scored a goal against a tired Burnley defence and a hat trick against Sunderland reserves, please let’s not get too carried away, potential – yes but starting line up – not yet!! Berbatov was brilliant against Burnley when we looked out of ideas and got a standing ovation at OT.

  8. sign-up-jimmy.bullard says:

cmon the diouf , big beastly black guy , what more cud u want

  9. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

im taking this fantastic talent with a breather
has kiko against villa taught me nothing
at that point i taught this guy will rip barcas goals apart in rome
im not going Insane in the Mam’ B’ram.

  10. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    @stretfordender
i wrote that about kiko and then as it sent i read you valid point in agreeing with that GHTT guy
    i also hear he’s a lady killer

  11. Ashish says:

I have to agree with aig.
Berba seems to be doing everything right except score on a consistent basis. If this new guy comes in and starts scoring,Berba could well easily find himself on the bench. But I think Fergie will still persist with Berba.I mean, despite Owen scoring a hat-trick,Berba started more often than Owen after the Wolfsburg game.

  12. aig alex is god says:

    @stretfordender

thats my problem. Berbatov was brilliant against Burnley.I have always backed him to do well and defended him against the numerous Berba slaggers.I dont want to see that brilliance against Burnley and Wigan. He struggles to make an impact in the big games and the away games. The only good away game he had was against Tottenham. Otherwise he has been very poor in most of the games away from home or against big sides

  13. Dani says:

Damn, this guy really did well. And all goals were with intent and technique. Great, Diouf.

  14. aig alex is god says:

    ghtt

kiko was 17. Diouf is 22. Plus sucess got into kiko’s head a bit.His development has been poor sicne last year although injuries havent heped his cause.Diouf looks like a very humble and down to earth guy. Kiko must concentrate solely on football.

  15. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    AIG
Roy Keane was angry and shouted and roared but when it came to football you never noticed him. the play would flow true him. mostly 2 touch stuffone touch control wait pass. it opened up plays creates and wins games. berbatov does that maybe the guy needs to act like a nutter so people willnotice how fucking amazing he is to United
from now on unless i click on to a ROM post and Scott has typed
    Filed Under: Berbatov
IM not talking about this guy any more
they said it from 1901 let the football do the talking and berbatovs football shouts louder than keanes voice ever could

  16. Welbz19 says:

Diouf is just the type of striker we need! He was barely involved in the game last night but every time he got the ball u thought goal! He plays on the shoulder of the last defender and looks so composed!
Not gonna get over excited but think he will feature a bit this year! Not sure about Saturday tho as he came off with an slight injury!

  17. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    AIG
sucess got into kiko’s head a bit..His development has been poor sicne?
how has his development been poor the villa game take away summer was 6 months ago take away 3 months injuries = 3 months for a kid to not move to fast and keep him grounded. when he can he plays in the reserves and plays very well . he’s right on track in my mind .
Im all over the place reading your comments on this diouf is gonna take berbatovs place but by been an old 22 year old kiko is gonna take his spot. watch out kiko brandys gonna take your spot

  18. aig alex is god says:

if you feel i am doubting dimis talent let me tell you i am not. I am also not doubting his ability, his vision or anything about his game. The only thing that angers me about him that has him is the mentality. I really cant understand why such a wonderful player with such ability keeps on thinking about the 31 million we paid for him and whether he is worth that or not. Just play the way you did without any pressure and success will follow.

He also has struggled in the big games and games away from home. He has to make more of an impact in such games.

  19. RedDevilzAdvocate says:

As we all know, there is a big gulf between reserves football and first team/premiership football. hope Diouf turns out to go the course and become a united great. Valid point AIG-alex is god about Berbatov, it stands to reason to think that if Diouf gets the goals consistently, Berb’s starting place would be under threat, but allowing for tactics, this may not necessarily happen. I’m not Berba’s biggest fan, but I do recognize the extra dimension he gives us; however, a striker has to score goals, and Berba simply hasnt scored enough. I just wanted every united player to do well in their own department and help the team do well overall. Glory Glory Man United!

  20. aig alex is god says:

    ghtt

i hope there is this competition for places. Why must kiko be 22 to take diouf’s place. He can do it earlier than that. Same for Welbeck. That will make the players raise their level. No one should take their palce for granted in the team and the faster the young lads develop, the more better it will be for us

I dont get a chance to watch the resreves but i havent heard much of Welbeck or kiko this season.Welbeck hasnt impressed me much in whatever little games i have seem him. Agree that he has been played out of position though.

  21. Costas says:

Hi guys. Diouf looks good so far. His movement in the first goal reminded me a bit of Torres’ against us this season.

Guys no need to argue. At the moment, Rooney and Berbatov is our estblished attacking duo, with Owen just behind them. However, it’s really tough to say what’s happening behind them. Diouf looks good, but so did Obertan at first. Welbeck hasn’t been effective on the wing, but we have to check him out as a striker. Watching Kiko in a few Carling Cup and Champion’s League games, I thought that he missed the spark that he had back in April. However, he is someone who can still develop a lot and has great body movement for a striker.

My point is that we don’t know what the deal is with these 3 until they start playing on a regular basis.

  22. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

3 different types of goals is the best hattrick you can get

  23. Tony Starks says:

Don’t forget guys his previous coach mentioned his finishing needs improving, like others have said already he looks good potential, but don’t go crazy saying he should be starting already.. but the guy has all the ingredients, just like my man Kiko!

  24. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    Insane in the Mam’ B’ram.

  25. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    RIO WILL PLAY TOMORROW

  26. jack says:

30 mins as subs for the first team and 1 goal.

60 mins for the reserves and 3 goals.

    best striker in the world.

  27. james f says:

Huge boost! Just in time for Wednesday.

  28. Costas says:

I hope that’s true GHTT. I wonder what kind of shape he is in.

  29. jack says:

    ghtt, how do you know

  31. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

Great news for all Manchester United fans as central defender Rio Ferdinand is set to make his comeback this Saturday against Hull City.

Ferdinand has not played since United’s 2-0 defeat at Liverpool on October 25, a persistent back problem sidelining the central defender for the past three months.

However it is reported that Ferdinand has been in full training with Manchester United this week and Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to re-unite him with central defensive partner Nemanja Vidic for the visit of Hull.

Manchester United have lost five times since Ferdinand’s enforced absence and Sir Alex believes the consistency that has eluded his side will return once he has his first-choice defence back.

  32. Costas says:

    GHTT

No, I don’t think you would. I am just trying not to get too excited. With Rio, there is a difference between Fergie saying he will play and him actually playing.

Hull are a physical side, so he will be tested. Maybe that’s what he needs ahead of the City and Arsenal games.

    No word on Vidic yet?

  33. Welbz19 says:

    AIG
danny played last night did really well had an excellent work rate, won a penatly and his work rate for diouf 3rd goal was very impressive! Obertan was at times very good but also very frustrating!
Corry Evans and Matt James were excellent aswell

  34. aig alex is god says:

    @Welbz19

Thanks for that mate. We dont get a chance to watch the reserve games so have to rely on you guys for that.

Hope to see Hargo in a reserve game soon

  35. Costas says:

Ok, VDS, Rio and Nemanja playing together for the fist time in 3 months? Sounds too good to be true! I hope they will develop an immediate understanding.

  36. KungFuKick says:

    Aig
Gotta agree with you mate about kiko and berba.
diouf seems to have all the attributes to be able to complement rooney in our attack.
its true that it was only sunderland`s reserves and a tired burnley team, but what matters most is that he does score goals.
    Watch out berba!

  37. RedDevilzAdvocate says:

Official website says Vidic is still about two weeks away, great news about Rio though.

  38. Costas says:

Ok, so Vidic gets injured on January 3rd, he is supposed to miss 10 days, but won’t be available until early February. How the fuck does this happen?

So much for Rio and Vidic playing together. Rio will be injured again by the time Vidic returns.

  39. Costas says:

If we lose the title, whoever wins it, can cut the trophy in half and give it to our medical team.

    Rant over.

  40. kennyyoan says:

diouf will make an excellent partnership with rooney, diouf to me seeems like the younger ronaldo, the bresilian of course, but a little more direct,a true talented number 9

  41. King Eric says:

Ooh. Differing opinons from aig and gotta hate at the minute!

I ain’t gonna get too carried away but everthing is pointing to him making it at United. Goal on his home debut, fans chanting Diouuuuuf, now a hat trick. Great pace, gets stuck in, great work ethic, top attitude and not too shabby a finisher.

As for Berbatov , it isn’t a case of diouf replacing him etc. Fergie now has an option to choose different partnerships for different games. From looking poor up front we now have Rooney, Berba, Owen, Kiko, Diouf and Danny. As long as they can start finding the onion bag we will be ok.

Great in my opinion to see Kiko back. Are things looking up? Bonds going through due to over subscribing, Kiko back, Diouf a talent and Rio to satrt tomorrow!

  42. aig alex is god says:

    King eric

hi mate.what i mean to say is he can become the first choice partner for rooney.not exactly replace berba.saf likes rotating players so he will continue to give all of them chances.if diouf and rooney click better saf will have to go with them over berba and rooney.

The more the strikers do well, the more there will be a healthy competition for places which is what i want to see.

I maybe premature in my assesment over diouf but i have a real good feeling about him making it at united.

  43. stretford972 says:

promsing start. can’t believe folk ae on about him replacing berba, joke. mabe if he’d have put that free header in or on target against city, then might not be able to stop myself from gettin carried away. Personally, i’d give him 90mins against Hull and see what he can do, the the process keeping berba and rooney fresh for 2 big games aganst city and arsenal

  44. denton davey says:

KungFuKick @ 11:25: “its true that it was only sunderland`s reserves and a tired burnley team, but what matters most is that he does score goals.”

EXACTLY ! That’s what’s been missing from Berbatov’s game – and why I’ve been a consistent sceptic about his ability to gel with Wayne Rooney – positioning on the shoulder of the last defenders and then ruthlessly taking the chances. Playing in that manner stretches the opponents’ defence and create even more space for the other three attackers – Rooney, Valencia, and ???

Clearly, this is now Rooney’s team – he’s the most important attacking-player, the most skilled attacking-player, and the key to UTD’s attacking-chances. SO, it only stands to reason that getting a strike-partner who can bring out the best in Wayne’sWorld is a crucial necessity.

Recognizing that a swallow doesn’t make the summer – and all those cliches about premature ejaculation – the exciting thing about Diouf’s play is that he is hungry. He’s also very fast, courageous, and has a good leap. Those are the qualities that have been missing up-front for UTD since LouisLouisHaHa went AWOL.

If you think over the past five/six years, then most of us would agree that UTD’s most effective strike-combination was Rooney/Saha; next was Rooney/RVN; third, Rooney/Tevez with Ronaldo driving to goal from the wing; then, Rooney/Berbatov; and, lastly, Rooney/Larsson.

  45. Xyth says:

This guy could truly replace King Cole.

He can be our instant hero if he can repeat this on Wednesday night as well.

  46. Colbert says:

Very nice finishing. Looks like he already has learned much under Ole’s guidance. He was never this composed at Molde.

  47. trevor says:

    Lads,

Some people have really missed the point!

Who cares if it was Burnley He scored againt. WHo cares if they were tired! Who cares if it was Sunderland or Sunderland Reserves!

Lets concentrate on Ability and first impression of him as a player!

Looking at this hatrick it certainly looks like he has an eye for goal! For me all 3 taken very well and i think he will be a big player for us in the future!

    The lad Looks QUality!

To those who might say… If he was playing against Chelsea would he have scored the same? Same as saying If my Granny had balls would she have been my Grandad?

    Some people are never happy!

  48. Tony Starks says:

anyone thinks he sounds like Ronaldo with his ‘I always want to help the team..’ line…

the guy has confidence in himself – just like the other two – Welbeck and Kiko

  49. macha says:

quality finishing, IF he can do that in important games he could become a legend.

  50. manchuchu says:

    MAME SAID KNOCK YOU OUT!!!

But seriously… He seems to have the power game of Emile Heskey with the finishing of Andy Cole (Hopefully during the windfall period)

If he continues to progress half as well as he seems for the next couple years, man, he would sell so many shirts.

  51. trevor says:

He certainly looks like a player.

This is one thing that fergie has brought to the club and for me what has made united Great in the last decade Not only a Keen eye for tallent but realizstion of Investment in Youth.

We have realised that Youth is the way forward. If you invest heavily in your scouting system, your academy, Youth Teams & Reserves. Adopt the policy if you are good enough you get in the team attitude you get you a things in return for me!

    1) Financial return on your outlay – How much has Campbell, Beardsley, Milar, Eagles, Simpson and the rest put back into the Youth Development Outlay?
    2) Simple this one!… Beckham, Giggs, Scholes, Nev, Nev, Oshea, Bown, Evans, Butt, Fletcher ……. Maybe Gibson!
    3) Extra Transfer Funds For Big Players as you didnt need to buy Fringe or Squad Players…. Playes like Richardson, Eagles…. you know the ones i mean. Did a bit of a job but never set the world alight constantly!

  52. Bestie says:

One pacey striker at least…should be third choice for sure (before owen), but for the future one hell of player. Come on Diouf!!!! Love United hate fucking Glazers

  53. theCount says:

Its about time that SAF started playing Rooney in a true number 10 position roaming in front of midfield and feeding to or feeding the attack: Berbatov and/or Diouf / Owen.

With Fletcher behind Rooney tidying up and Valencia (right) Giggs or Obertan (left) attacking the flanks.

We used to play to score more goals than our opponents and if we want to win anything this season we are going to have to start playing that way again.

  54. Green Red says:

We say WHOOHH from the stretty, Mam B’ram

  55. bchilds says:

Loved the hat-trick goal. Fantastic composure, lets hope he can do it in the Premier League!

  56. Oberrrrr the Moonn says:

    dare i say 2 FEET!!!!!

  57. islandred1981 says:

Looks a decent player – hope he can keep it up

  58. islandred1981 says:

Although he could have scored 15 and still not get in ahead of Berba

  59. Fze123 says:

The fact that he scored 3 in a reserves match against sunderland youngsters drives people to say “It was only against their reserves”. But, had he not scored any goals last night, it would feel a tad worrying, because if he had not managed to score against such a weak side then how do you know he would be able to score in the league, or to a higher extent, against European opposition? Really happy for him, you could tell he was chuffed too because after the game he stood texting, presumably his friends and family.

I really do think Fergie should play him with Wayne for a good 90 minutes and see if Diouf is the right striker to play with our talisman. I would love to see 3 formidable promising partnerships to choose from: Rooney/Diouf, Berba/Owen and Macheda/Welbeck.

  60. CraigB says:

I have to dissagree with all those who are still behind Berba. The guy has all the class in the world, but he was bought to score goals, and he is not doing that. A goal here and there is not good enough when we are looking for people to make up the goals we not getting from Ronaldo anymore. Rooney will have his bad days, and we need someone who we can rely on to fill in for Rooney on those bad days, and Berba can not be relied on. If ANYONE else can be given a chance and they have a better ratio then Berba, then I am all for it. Whoever that may be…..

  61. trevor says:

    @Craig,

I have defended Berbatov to the hilt but am deciding to give him the rest of this season.

I can openly see his performances and i really think he is struggleing to form a decent partnership with rooney.

The thing that frustrates me is that Berbatov can provide a moment of genius but without an end product most of the time.

However, i wouldnt be supprised if it suddenly clicked and he scored time and time again!

    Time will tell i guess!

  62. utdlad says:

Diouf looks really good great eye for goal great movement and a top finisher.
hope he can do the same in the 1st team. Give the lad a shot !!!

  63. Datnana says:

This is it. Unlike manucho, he is hungry. Has the spirit of essien and will make it. Good buy.
