Dan, I agree with you on the double standard bit, but I think you would be suprised about the number of United fans who would look down on it, just like many Arsenal fans have voiced their distaste for Eduardo’s antics the other day.

I spent all day arguing with my Arsenal supporting brother about how disgraceful the Eduardo dive was. After watching this, Rooneys was equally bad. This is cheating at it purest form, Zero contact, and in the box. I am ashamed that a United player, especially of Rooneys class would resort to something like that. Ronaldo always got a bad rap for diving, but to be honest it wasnt nearly as bad as people made it out to be. He would go to ground easily at times, but never just fling himself to the ground like Eduardo and Rooney did.

This shit needs to be stamped out of football, and Im 100% behind retroactive punishment. It is bullshit how UEFA pick and choose when to retroactively punish someone, but this should be common place. Maybe then people will stop trying to con the ref into gifting teams games.

the double standards on this blog are crazy… when eduardo dives in a match against celtic, man utd fans want to string him up(?!) but when looking back on how rooney dived in this game its ‘we could have had another penalty when cole brought down ronaldo.’ its all just so petty.
if a MU player dives in the box on saturday and wins a penalty i know every devils fan that verbally abused eduardo would be cheering and wouldnt think that player was a dirty cheat. so inconsistant.

i remember being at the game, and all the united players seemed to be chasing the arsenal players down the tunnel to swap shirts, which i thought was a bit odd; finding out later that they’d had a load of tshirts printed commemorating their unbeaten run ha!

there are not those sort of fiery players in the 2 teams anymore.and as you knpw things have mellowed down between the 2 clubs and fergie and arsene ahave become friends.
