A win is a win and we should not complain. Lads won the match without having to get out of the second gear. Middlesborough deserve to go down. United warm up before the match was tougher than what Boro had to offer.

Great support at the Riverside from start to finish, great result, lovely goals, time to relax and enjoy the sun. Only one mild criticism, I could have done without the ‘Fergie, Fergie, give us a wave’ chant about 20 mins from the end. A touch too complacent as it coincided with one of those inevitable dips in performance from the players, with a couple of passes going astray. Still, no damage done.

Suddenly I feel a surge of ‘lifelong’ support for the Toons coming on, like falling in love again. I suspect it may subside fairly rapidly but for now the emotion is almost uncontrollable. We can walk hand in hand to the sunset on the Tyne tomorrow, but only if you come away from Anfield with 3 points, or maybe even if it’s only one. Newcastle, I’m yours, take me now! And if they don’t costas (which is highly likely)? How do expect things to go then? I honestly see us dropping points in the City-Wigan-Arsenal period – Its too tough a fixture list, especially against tricky opponents. Its still up for grabs, but hopefully the experience of winning counts – I wouldn’t put ‘pool cracking under pressure beyond the realms of possibility. Like you said it is the next couple of games for them (and tottenham on the last day of the season of course – but we’ve all seen how willing tottenham are to lie down and take it up the arse!)
