  2. pablo says:

1-0 to the man united…..again!!! like lindegaard though dont give a shit 3 fucking precious points do me fine

  3. Zelh says:

average performance was enough to beat a abysmal villa team.

I hope we step up like every season.

  4. Utd4life says:

Terrific finish from Jones. Well done to the lad for his 1st goal.

  5. Sandeep1878 says:

    260.

    Michael Carrick..

    you beauty :)

    great game,

that was one lovely try by Rooney..

by the way, Vidic, fucking awesome, in all game i can recall he just missed one aerial battle..

amazing..brave…whatever you want to call…he is solid..

now we are coming to a point here, we are not looking at City on goal difference..

we gonna fuck them by points..

    Great defensive display yet again…

and what a reflex save by Lendergaard..

i would say again, de Gea is gonna have a tough battle and i m glad..

2 young goelies with high confidence in one team is gonna be better..

plus they arent treated as slaves…

  6. Alom says:

Great to see Jones on the score sheet!!!

  7. Warwick says:

This was more the Man United we know and love

  8. redbilly says:

Though the lads looked more fluid and confident. if rooney.s one two had come off, what a goal it would have been

  9. STAMpede says:

If the Chicha injury prevents Macheda from getting loaned out then we might have enough power up front but it is looking bad now. Chicharito is the only type of striker that we have who can come on and get us a goal late on.
I looked at the schedule and I reckon he will be back for the mid January home game against Bolton if all goes well. Sir Alex said he will be out 4 weeks and when he got injured he did manage to fold the knee thus reducing the force on the ankle.
Another hard fought win and had this been a normal season we’d been in a great place. I dunno if going through to the next stage in the Champions League will help us so whatever happens next week will be of some benefit to our season.
Chelsea looked amazing today and we can only hope they are up for it against City cause we badly need some help to make this season interesting again.

  10. Costas says:

Nice to have Nani back among the asissts too..

  11. Gora says:

Vida was immense today. Thought he was mom for me. Bent never had even a shot off target. Brilliant. Guys ,has lindegard conceded a goal in the league yet. Carrik was also brilliant, seems to be getting his mojo back. I also loved the one touch long passes by giggs. Good win and now lets hope chel$hit beat man$hit

  12. jayunited says:

we won’t have an easier away match and jones is a beast, legend in the making.special mention to carrick and nemanja but i will still play de gea as number 1 all day long

  13. TatianaMUFC says:

I’ll take the 3 points. United played great the first half, but we NEED to be more clinical in the final 3rd, especially from the wide areas. Definitely becoming more optimistic though… Our form is starting to come back. Jones and Carrick played great together in CMF. Definitely think we should start to utilize Jones in CMF more. Personally, I don’t think it’ll make him any less of a good central defender, and right now it’s just what we need.

  14. Sandeep1878 says:

by the way special mention to Valencia who played around 200 mins of football in 3 days :)

  15. WillieRedNut says:

    Loved Fergie’s reaction!

    Nice finish Jonesy!

  16. Mcalex says:

Ever heard of the old english football? That’s what they have just played! Let’s be realistic, this is not our way me playing we need to be more swift and quick to make the opponents more confused.

  17. Costas says:

    @Sandeep

True fact. And he lad never looked like running out of breath. Pity De Gea and Fletch can’t play 2 games in 3 days…

  18. Gaffer says:

We need midfielders treathening inside the box. To seldom to see others do that. Jones has that quality

  19. Zelh says:

Costas – The thing with De Gea and Lindegaard is that both are great goalkeepers. Fergie is doing right in giving both their game-time.

  20. Sandeep1878 says:

3 consequetive away wins for the first time after 2009, now that tells you a story..

  21. Sandeep1878 says:

Costas the medical scout of UNITED, whats your view on Villa park turned Injury park? :P

seriously, around 200 mins of football in 3 days is really huge to ask of any player…and he worked his ass off against Crystal palace to top it all…

  22. WillieRedNut says:

“On the road again………..we’re winning on road again”

Rock solid away from OT. ;)

  23. Sparkz says:

Really good performance I thought….our last 3 games with the first team (Benfica, Newcastle, Villa)….we’ve got better and better. Bit disappointed at the wastefulness in the final third, really should’ve got more goals, but it’ll come.

I actually feared the worst for Chicharito…so to hear its a month is a bit of a relief tbh! Hopefully we don’t rush him back like we did with Rooney when he had his ankle ligament damage, coz that kinda screwed him up a bit.

In a funny way….our performance today showed the good and bad points of playing without Chicha. I don’t think its a coincidence that the one touch passing, the interplay etc, was really good after he went off. Nani went up top, and his touch, passing and dribbling is better than Chicharito’s, and therefore our build up was better.

BUT….we missed Chicharito’s goal poaching presence in the box. Too many times we didn’t have anyone making a run into the six yard box, a couple of crosses in the second half that he would’ve gobbled up went begging.

Danny came on and sort of gave us the best of both worlds….great link up play, but he can be a penalty box presence if needed as well. Be interesting to see if he starts on Wednesday or if Fergie goes with Rooney up top on his own.

  24. avishek says:

    very happy with the win

    managed the clean sheet….

think rio vidic pairing is what prompted fergie to go for lindegaard..and he did the job as well, made a superb save also….but apart from that it was not quite threatening for him due to the rock solid defence

think our strikers need to step up a little bit.how mediocre chicha plays is completely hindered by the fact that he manages to score in almost every game he plays.

rooney and welbeck to start then at basle??

  25. Costas says:

    @Sandeep

Ha, it had little to do with the ground mate. It looked fine to me. Besides, other than Shay Given, the other 3 that got injured are prone to the odd injury.

The thing about Tony V is that I wanted to see him start on Wednesday too, but that’s out of the question now. I think that was Fergie’s intention too. The guy is a beast though. He came back from his horrific injury and he was playing entire games as if he never missed a beat.

  26. Doghouse says:

I was a bit worried by how little we created, I mean we can talk about dominating the match, but a 1-0 is only a false penalty shout away from being points lost. The lads put in a great shift, but I think we’re riding our luck at the moment due to a lack of goals and we need an injection of inspiration into the side if we’re going to close ground on City.

That said, Welbeck looked sharp as a razor. He and Rooney will be deadly.

Got to say as well, with Chicharito down, all those attacking options aren’t looking like a luxury right now, they are looking like vital resources.

Really happy to see Jones score too. He’s looked likely, going forward so fearlessly as he does. Took it perfectly.

  27. Costas says:

    @Zelh

On paper this was a tricky fixture so I didn’t why we had to rotate goalies. Good thing Villa were shit. :) Too much tinkering going on at the moment for me. But then again, we are losing 2-3 players per game now so I can see why Fergie has to do it.

  28. manutdthebest says:

3 points away is always welcome . Phil finished it well . He has so much more than to be a typical a defender. Carrick has good game too. But frustrated with Valencia in final third. Just too predictable.

  29. WillieRedNut says:

Not just Villa Park. Most pitches, in the premier league are rock hard. The only positive I can see about these injuries is, Fergie has less scope for changing the team. Saying that, the wizard might still find a way lol.

  30. Utd4life says:

Sir Alex on Jones celebration: “We keep winding him up and keep saying: ‘We paid £16million for you and we can’t even get a shot off you!”

  31. Red Neck says:

Yet another great potential title winning three points away from home. If we can keep this up then hopefully come May things will fall into place. Not trying to say everything is rosy at the moment and injuries are obviously an ongoing concern but this IS championship winning form. Come on United onwards and upwards.

  32. Sandeep1878 says:

    Willie..
    Wizrad…..

    funny comment that..
    tired of rotation eh? :)

  33. avishek says:

    @sparkz

    really good points there mate…

chicha and welbz have different qualities, but they both are not complete.but if we consider their talent together and if both seem to develop the missing dimensions in their play(one touch, ball controlling in case of chicha and making timed runs, getting past defenders stretching the play in case of welbeck)
then they both could be huge….

also for me chicha has the edge because of his goal poaching ability…but in case of welbeck he has the height advantage….

  34. parryheid says:

We were set up to control the game and control it we did.Three points sorted.

  35. Sparkz says:

There’s not too many better impact subs in the Premier League than Giggsy. When he starts these days, he’s not always at his best (something we’ll have to risk on Wednesday though). But off the bench for half an hour, he’s absolutely quality.

I’m 50/50 on Valencia’s performance. He picked up where he left off for the last half an hour against Palace….pace, power, taking defenders on. Definitely caused Warnock all kinds of grief. But as someone mentioned above, a bit predictable. He’s ALWAYS gonna go down the outside on his right foot.

I thought today that was the wrong option….coz we didn’t have anyone making runs into the 6 yard box. Hernandez is brilliant at attacking the 6 yard box, or either post, so he can get on the end of Valencia’s crosses. Today we had Rooney and Nani who don’t really do that, so it would’ve been better if Valencia had a left foot to check infield and give us a different route.

I did find it interesting that Fergie chose to put Nani up front rather than bring Danny on. Was that coz he didn’t wanna play Danny for too long and maybe re-aggravate his injury? Or was he experimenting for Wednesday?

  36. CedarsDevil says:

    Get in you fucking beauty….

Red Neck – Where on earth have you been pal?

  37. dickson says:

Am I the only one upset that we were so uninspiring against a terrible Aston Villa team? Look at the scoreline elsewhere! Chelski 3, Spurs 3, Arsenal 4, Shitty 5….. That was not a United performance out there.

And this was definitely not a hard earned victory that needed to be grind out…. I refuse to fall into the pitiful line of thoughts that is alright with us being so insipid and boring.

What happened to We are United, and we do what we want?!! Bring back the attacking football please!

  38. CedarsDevil says:

What a finish by Edwards err sorry Jones…….. I love United I do, I love United I do ooooh…. finish it off lads

  39. xol says:

I enjoyed the moment on the ESPN coverage at half time where they showed Dunne at the touchline asking his boss, “What can we do?” and they freeze-frame on Alex trying to come up with an answer.
Waddle as co-commentator was very un-ABU and I think he likes us.

  40. MG says:

    What a goal by MessiXaviIniestaFabregasBusquetsRonaldoOzil

    All Jones

  41. WillieRedNut says:

Sandeep – I’m not a fan of rotating players mate. Fergie knows best, though lol.

  42. CedarsDevil says:

    He’s Jones and he’s ours

  43. Costas says:

One thing’s for sure. We can’t win this title on goal difference anymore.

Heskey’s miss was the highlight of the day by far. Anyone got a gif? :)

  44. Sparkz says:

@ Dickson – fair enough we didn’t get the goals, but did you actually watch the game and the performance? We were excellent, played some quality football.

  45. Utd4life says:

@Costas.. The commentator had a right go at heskey for that awful miss. How can anyone’s shot on goal from that range go out for a throw in?? I guess only Heskey can do it.

  46. Red Neck says:

Cedars, hello mate. Spookily I have been reading ROM but not commenting. Hope you are well mate. I will probably be slated for posting a positive comment but it’s just how I feel.

  47. CedarsDevil says:

    James21

Hope you had a blast, well done to our lads for out singing them Brummies yet again….. I could almost swear I heard you in the stands shouting Cedars! hahahaha

  48. King Eric says:

You couldnt make it up. “Ian” on the previous thread reckons we are only winning one nil because of carrick! What the fuck? Seriously? We are only winning one nil because are strikers cannot find the fucking net at present. But oh no its the midfields fault as usual. Fucking bollocks.

  49. dickson says:

@Sparkz, I get what you’re saying but don’t you feel that our attack are missing a certain verve and unpredictability that allows us to unlock defense? Granted we had great deal of possession and good touches and passing movement. But it all seem so textbook. And there’s nothing easier to beat than something taken out of the textbook. All you gotta do is read the book and you’ll know how to handle it. That’s how I feel about our performance lately. No one is afraid of us because we are so easy to keep at bay! And the best proof if this is in the scoreline in the previous matches (excluding the Newcastle match)

  50. CedarsDevil says:

    Red Neck

Worry not about being slated pal, you are well and truly protected by a very famous tree pal….. Do keep posting please my Robbo loving friend

  51. CedarsDevil says:

    Red Neck

Worry not about being slated pal, you are well and truly protected by a very famous tree pal….. Do keep posting please my Robbo loving friend

  52. CedarsDevil says:

Ha? Whats with the double posts

  53. WillieRedNut says:

Villa fans were brilliant, though? Lol. What a sorry bunch, they are.

  54. Sparkz says:

@Dickson – I thought we were anything but easy to read today tbh. Against Palace, yes. Today, no. The movement, the interchanging of positions, they couldn’t live with us. Better decision making, or if Welbeck had been on for longer, a few of those moves would’ve ended up as goals and we’d be looking at a rout.

  55. Red Neck says:

    Cedars.
Don’t worry about the double posts mate as Robbo’s name alone warrants it.

  56. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Its simple really, United fans away from home make them all look like a sorry bunch…… Best supporters in the world

  57. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

Carra Carra Carra Carrick !!! Bang ! Carrick ! – Who Da Man?
Im loving his form, who needs Cleverley

    Funny first it was;
    - No scholes replacement
    - Then, We are nothing without Clevs.
    -Then No defence
    -Then No Attack

What Next Fergie being Ruled out with the Cold?
    David Gill gets deported?
United get repossesed by a Wall street bank? So we pull out of PL & go MLS 8)

  58. CedarsDevil says:

    Red Neck

    Very well said

  59. WillieRedNut says:

    An old favorite?

    Thanks Cedars. Appreciated that comment.

  60. MG says:

  66. united.george says:

It is a WIN….Great away record we have now…Basel Away next…

Agbonlahor and Bent were missing today….Vidic and Carrick made sure nothing went further than their line. Those 2 are immense.

….and we won with the away jersey!

  67. WillieRedNut says:

Cedars – You’re a star mate, thank you , for appreciating me.

  68. MG says:

    Has anyone mentioned Dustin Hoffman?

    Did they, did they?

Keefak ya zalame? You should post here more often my fellow son of the cedars

  70. koolburn says:

“This team is so weak, particulary in midfield, i think that we have to be realistic here and accept that United are not going to win the Champions League, its pure dilution because as well as Barca, expect Real to be a threat together with Bayern, with their stadium hosting the final. I think, painful as it it to say it, because of the weakness of the midfield, United should concentrate on retaining the Premier League, which will be tough as it is, but more realistic than any hope of even getting to Munich. Of course the club are understandably interested in the money as a result of progressing further, but the longer we go, the harder it will become in retaining the league, stretching our first team even more due to injuries and as a result, we could end up with nothing. Unless SAF is permitted the funds to strengthen the middle with at least 2 players, 1 who can tackle, with another who can pass, i believe, on this occasion, he should concentrate on the league.”

  71. MG says:

    Son of Cedars

Be blessed for thou art the chosen one

Mate, only time I’ve seen something like this was when a friend of mine took a penalty and it went out for a throw in. But he was 14 and it was a windy day!

  78. WillieRedNut says:

Al won that on a split decision. Hooay!!

  79. King Eric says:

koolburn – bore off with the tired old cliche. fuck all wrong with midfield last three games so get off the bandwagon. I don’t trust you. Coming on prior to game saying a draw. Bayern lost their last two games pal. Form could be very different come March time when last 16 played. All you do is moan.

  80. CedarsDevil says:

    MG – hahaha

Not in denial………… It will always be ‘you’re talking to me?’ RDN As far as I am concerned :-)

  96. Booch says:

Hi Anyone I think the utd game was ok very good milfielders in 2nite match plus i hope Hernandez is ok 4 the mid week game in the CL game and Rooney was very good Why did Anderson not play is Anderson not fit or what Anyway great match great win 4 utd and hopefully utd will win the cup this seson Anyone Agree or Disagree with me Lindareed was good why did Ge Gea not play he is going 2 be the very best 4 utd this year and maybe next year 2!!!

And good nite 2 all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on the best Utd all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  97. xol says:

Al be back in a bit

  98. MG says:

Do you ever like pay attention?

Chicha out for a month and Anderson till around Feb

If Anders played good should DDG played with him?

Confusing post old chap or young fellow…

  99. WillieRedNut says:

Booch is crazy. Anyone who has watched Scrubs………will get the joke. ;)

  100. James21 says:

What a day and I’ve missed the Devil.

  101. Paul Parker says:

@King Eric – spot on mate, considering the ball bounced off Hernandez for that goal I’d be much more concerned going into Europe if it was midfield that was off the boil. You do have to wonder what game people watch sometimes. We created loads at Newcastle, loads again today, and neither score reflected our midfield performance, which has been solid and threatening. The Basel game should be a bit more open, so hopefully thats when the Strikers kick on for the Christmas run in.

  102. Booch says:

MG I do pay a lots of attention thanks anyway 4 that advise and I am a girl not a fella is that ok 4 you
4 Willierednut you are a dumb asshole ok Come on Utd

  103. Paul Parker says:

Needless to add, that was a lovely taken goal by Jones. One knock on from Smalling’s injury earlier this season was Jones couldn’t be tried as a midfield option, and I still think he’s good enough to do a solid job there. This kid is some player for his age – long may his run in the first team continue, wherever he’s chosen to play.

    Laters Rom

  104. WillieRedNut says:

Viva Ronaldo, Viva Ronaldo………get him on a plane………bring him back from Spain………viva Ronaldo!

I love you too, Booch. ;)

  105. Booch says:

Where you from Willierednut wat you think of the match 2nite good match or poor

  106. Zibbie says:

    Barney Rubble, what an actor.

  107. Zibbie says:

    Feed the Tuna fish, mayonnaise…..

  108. WillieRedNut says:

I thought it was sublime Booch! Carrick was like Keano in his pomp! Watch City crumble like Hesky in front of goal. ;)

  109. Booch says:

Hopefully City will crumble Rooney was good and I though Young was not great 2day maybe Young was getting very nerous in front off aston villa well time 2 go

HAHAHA… damn, Willie just got schooled by Booch.

  111. MG says:

Booch sorry for the handbags comment

Still be aware of things around you or ask first before you carry on – we’re all here to help especially Willie ;)

And find some full stops and commas and all that – sorry not being big or anything thats just working in school – does that to you when you want everyone to succeed.

    Have fun!

  112. Costas says:

Hmm,if it wasn’t for Danny’s late goal against Norwich, it would have been 9 league games in a row where we didn’t score more than one. That’s around the same time Rooney stopped scoring from open play by the way…

  113. FletchTHEMAN says:

What a sweet strike from Phil “The JonesenOne” Jones!.

Look on Parks face is priceless
Park..”Sh*********t that lad hits em sweater than me!

Actually, that was a technically sound a strike as you could ask for for such a strong ball in. Hope the put Scholes on the job of perfecting that!

  114. MG says:

Watch it Fred or else this place will turn green

  115. MG says:

    Costas

We’re not going to have another ambitious statement coming from Rooney anytime soon are we?

    ;)

Can’t explain the loss of goal scoring from Rooney…

  116. Fred says:

What a sweet strike from Phil Jones, and what a sweet strike from the Boochster to MG and Willie.

  117. RedKamer says:

Said it here before: play Jones in midfield with Carrick while waiting for Clev’s return. Just a shame that injuries are piling.

  118. MG says:

    Fred

It’s your Boochness – Boochster would technically make Booch a guy and she ain’t a guy

    Willie I’ve never watched Scrubs

  119. Fred says:

Costas – according to some commentator on today’s game, we have achieved a new club record over the past five games: our lowest scoring run in 20 years!

  120. Fred says:

MG – Her royal Boochness. From now on, when someone takes a beating on here, they have officially been “booched”.

  121. Costas says:

    @MG

I have a feeling that his ambitions are intact for another couple of years. ;)

Don’t know what to make of it, other than the fact that Rooney is confused about his role. It seemed to be easier for him when Cleverley was around. Now it seems like he’s trying to play 2 positions at the same time. I have a feeling that his partnership with Welbeck will bring him more goalscoring opportunities.

Lads 3 of my irons stopped working suddenly, checked the electricity, everythings fine, any advice.
How the fuck is it possible for 3 Irons to break down completely and stop working. The light doesn’t switch and it doesn’t heat up?!?

Fuck the midfield crisis, Im occupyed trying to solve this, in the morning im taking them all back to Currys to demand a explaination.

    Papii

    I caught that

  127. samuel - united WE stand says:

technically Emphatic strike from jones, man of the match for me. The rest he had has certainly helped, Fergie knows when to give players a break. Still though, i’m sure midfield won’t be his permanent position.

The back four generally looked solid today against a tricky villa side, smalling is back and is carrying on greatly from where he left.

Shame on hernandez’s injury, hope he’ll back as soon as possible. I also hope the injuries will turn and players will get back from injury asap.

On to a difficult midweek game against basel. again we have to stay compact, solid and ruthlessly take chances, currently united could improve a lot better on that front.

  128. MG says:

    Sorry Papii

I agree with you on that one – I don’t know what kind of iron(s) you got but I’m looking into getting one of those stem irons – but oh are they expensive ;)

By the sounds of it – checked out the fuses etc? Or the actual electrical switch? Stupid things like that…

Or it could simply be three useless irons given to you in one go at that point you need a rant strategy.

LOL Costas, I read it on RedCafe. Seems someone had gotten the wrong end of the stick. Someone else on the thread pointed out that our run from the end of the 06/07 season, through the beginning of 07/08 went like this:

    City 1-0
    Chelsea 0-0
    West Ham 0-1
    Reading 0-0
    Portsmouth 1-1
    City 0-1
    Spurs 1-0
    Sunderland 1-0
    Everton 1-0

  139. Ash says:

Jones should be playing in the Defensive Midfield role. He has loads of talent and moreover he is still 19 only.
This is a very hectic month and in that we lose hernandez. I feel clev will also not return in december.
We have a chance to overtake in december as they have to face chelshit and arsenal back to back now.
    WOLVES H
    QPR A
    FULHAM A
    WIGAN H
    BLACKBURN H
We have 5 games remaining this month and we can easily take 3 points in all.
Berbatov will be back for wolves tie. We just have to hope we don’t get any more injuries.

  140. Ash says:

    Overtake City*

  141. YorYor says:

Client, likely to be the wall socket itself.
Didn’t have much of a problem with the game yesterday, chuffed for Jones to finally get a goal – it was a well-taken one at that, and great to see Nani rack up another notch in his assists. To think there were calls to have him sold just 2 years ago – bet none of those calling even remember they spouted shite like that.
As for Rooney, other than that nice hollywood pass and the neat one-two with Carrick (and into the stands)… looks like it’ll take him even more games to get that link-up game developed. Hope either he or Anderson gets this bit settled, otherwise having two players mispassing in the final third will probably be quite frustrating to watch.

@Cedars – I like to read more than post, I guess…..besides, I am in California, and when I am ready to actually post, the rest of you are asleep:) ROM is very lonely in the evening for me…..

We have played 7 away games and only conceded 3 goals total. That is truly an amazing achievement! We have the lowest goals conceded away! I still cannot believe we have allowed 10 at home, discounting the city game, it is 4….But still, we really need to stop the goals at home and we are in great shape!

C’mon, lets now defeat Basel (Dont mention the war).

  143. Zemmamma777 says:

I think that part of our offensive ‘waning out’ of sorts has to do with the shift in the way teams are dealing with United now. At the start of the season, everyone was playing a fairly open midfield/defensive area, which allowed United the time and space to do their Tic-Tac-Toe cutsie plays around the defense and in general make these grown professionals look like toddlers. Part of this had to do with the youth and energy that Clevz brought to the side, but I’m not going to pin the whole thing on the lad. My theory (should you choose to believe it or not) is that at some point, I can’t recall off the top of my head which game it was, some team played with a loaded midfield and compact defensive form, making it damn near impossible for us to unlock their defense with the consummate ease we were accustomed to at the beginning of the season. I’m guessing managers picked up on that and took that leaf out of the book to deal with United and now with some key players dropping like flies, the consistency of a lineup that gave us that early-season form is gone, especially when it comes to our defensive line. I think that’s our problem in terms of conceding the goals, not de Gea’s. The boy’s doing brilliantly, it’s just he’s got an ever-changing and shaky defense. Put Vida and a fit Rio in front of him with evra and jones on the wings for several consecutive games and then you’ll start to see things shore up.

  144. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

1-0 wins BECAUSE OF CARRICK?(some rubbish post on the previous thread) Please get out. So what you wanna lose 7-3 and say whoohoo we’ve scored 3?

I thought it was a nice performance, contrary to most of the comments here. Fantastic defending and i love it. Yes, the attack was nearly blunt. So far this season, we’ve been doing a trade-off between attack and defense. When the attack was splendid, we leaked at the back, and now we’ve put a stone wall at the back, but the front is blunt. So until we find the balance, which will happen as we click into gears, 1 nils will be a common sight, and i don’t mind that at all. And Nani needs a few punches again, that boy needs to LEARN when to cross and when to try and shoot. He’s not at Ronaldo level yet (he will be) where whenever he shoots he scores, so he’s got to learn what’s best first. But yes, as i say this, he’ll do something brilliant the next game and make me shut my mouth.

Anybody who bashes Carrick-please of wash your eyes with dettol. Thank you.

  145. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

I am disturbed by the goal diff we have compared to city. But i shall worry about it after we regain top spot. Until then, 3 points is all that matters for me.

And to think Jones is only 19. Gosh, the number of fantastic years and memories he could possibly have with us makes me delighted just thinking about it. in the future, it’ll be Jones-Smalling stepping up for Vida-Rio.

  146. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

And 3 straight away wins in a row was unthinkable last season. AND we won the league. Things can only get better guys.

  147. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

Chicharito out for a month. I guess it’s a bit of a relief, cos i thought it would be way longer, phew. Ha anybody read the article on Jones’ celebration. The coaching staff and Sir Alex winding him up lamenting that we had paid 16 mil for him and can’t get a shot off him. Ha, no wonder the smiles from the bench were exceptionally bright yesterday. Nice stuff.

  148. tom c says:

here i am, someone called to clone me? ;)

i’ve missed watching games where tom played.. or was it me playing..?

  149. Ancha says:

    King Eric

leave that ignorant prick to himself buddy, what he was saying is pure crap. Carrick had one of his best games in recent seasons yesterday, he was doing all passing, moving with the ball, tackling and the beautiful move with Rooney which should have resulted in a goal.
That’s exactly what me and Slim were trying to point out when we half criticized Carrick sometime back that he is capable of playing at this level but we don’t get the same level through out the season on a consistent basis, Hope now he continues in the same vein of form

  150. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Ancha, That is something I’ve argued for a long time. Essentially, with other players around, Carrick doesn’t feel as confident moving forward because there is nobody else to cover behind him. There are two reasons for this: A) He isn’t confident of his partner’s defensive capabilities. B) Sir Alex isn’t confident of Carrick’s partner’s defensive capabilities and specifically informs Carrick to play in the hole.

The above is something I’ve argued with slim for a long time – never reaching an agreement however. For me, if Carrick had wanted to go forward like he has been doing in the past few weeks, he would’ve. Sure, I will agree with you both that his form has improved tremendously over the past month and he is in his best form for a long time. Still, his form has nothing to do with how frequently he is moving forward in the past two weeks.

Yesterday was a perfect example and I tried to highlight in the previous thread and somebody explained it more explicitly than me. The Carrick/Jones partnership was effective specifically due to the above reason. Whenever Carrick went forward, he was confident Jones would cover and he did. Jones got forward more frequently and it allowed Carrick to sit back and dictate the play like he usually does. This, and his improved form to a lesser extent, is the reason why Carrick has seemed to be more attack-minded in recent weeks. At least, that is my reasoning.

As for our 1-0 victores, I guess you cannot satisfy all sections of the fans all the time. If we had been scoring more and conceding more, some fans would’ve obviously said we need to tighten the defense as we are leaking goals. Now, we are doing the opposite, we’ve tightened the defense, but some fans are asking that we need to be more expansive. It is a direct result of the loss to City and Sir Alex addressing our basics first.

The attacking play will come naturally. We are United and being defensive-minded for a long time isn’t in our DNA. Sooner or later, the goals will start flowing. You can see the building blocks for that being laid in the past three performances against Benfica, Newcastle and Villa. Had our strikers had their scoring boots on or our wingers made better decisions in the final third, all three goals would’ve finished with huge margins in our favor.

Sir Alex knows this. He knows his players are capable of turning it on in an instant and we usually do that starting around Christmas. However, defensive solidity isn’t as easy to nail. That is the reason why the Boss is focusing on the latter right now. Once we get that solid foundation going like we generally have, the attack will start flowing and we will start turning it on. It really is as simple as that.

  151. lordrt says:

Lol SAF looked like a kid then when Jones scored, but still, despite creating some good chances we failed to score more, and we could live to regret that against some of the big boys out there, both in europe and the premier league

  152. samuel - united WE stand says:

It’s not about if carrick is confident going forward or not, he barely has since he joined united. He is a deep lying midfield anchor man so i don’t know why people expect him to go forward and be creative.

If united want creativity then the manager will have to get midfielders specialised in this.

  153. samuel - united WE stand says:

Welbeck will need to stay off injuries, he’ll be needed for the up coming games. Berbatov as wel, although his general form as wel as in front of goal still needs improving, still needs to get back from injuryg

Macheda may get to stay at old trafford now instead of getting shipped out on loan.

Rooney also needs to return to goal scoring form, his all round game is always great but goal scoring brings confidence, his goals only seem to come in spurtz.

  154. shebangsthedrums says:

Good morning fellow reds. I’m pleased with the win yesterday, any win’s a good win. Very pleased for Phil Jones, it was a very nice finish. I was contemplating changing my moniker to Mrs Jones, but then it occured to me I’m probably just about old enough to be his mum! I was a little frustrated by our inability to finish them off and make it an easier win, but 3 points is more important. We’ll only know if these are good performances at the end of the season. We all know United can play better and there’s definitely more to come as long as we don’t keep getting more injuries. If we can get back to playing the kind of football we were playing early in the season and this turns out to be our bad patch, then it’s bloody brilliant. We just need to keep in touch with shitty, because they WILL falter and we need to be in a position to pounce. Wednesdays game is very important, hopefully we’ll qualify, then we can put the champs league to bed for a couple of months and concentrate on the league. Hopefully shitty will have Thursday night football to look forward to (Is that too much to ask?). I actually think they’ll get a result against Munich as Bayern won’t play their full strength team, why would they when they’ve already won the group? So it depends what Napoli do.

  155. Captain Park says:

Excellent technique from Jones, class!!! More of that from you son!! :)

  156. CedarsDevil says:

    Morning all

Very happy with the result, although Villa were average however we looked like our old selves at the back, solid and composed and for me Carrick helps a lot in that department, he was brilliant.

I bet our friend James21 had a blast….. Oh and it seems there was a lot of ‘booching’ going on here last night! hahaha

  157. CedarsDevil says:

I see Leeds played Millwall yesterday…. Worst 2 sets of fans in the land.

What a scum festival that must have been

  158. Utd4life says:

Reports coming in that Pogba has refused to sign a new contract. Seriously, what’s wrong with this lad? People would give an arm and a leg to play for Utd and this kid wants to leave. It’s a shame really. If this is his attitude then there’s a club right down the road which is more than apt for him.

  159. byron1970 says:

I don’t understand the concern over the one nil victories, I really don’t. I’m going to omit the carling cup results since the city nightmare but here’s how I see it.

One nil away to Everton, always a tough game and I’ll take one nil away from home every day of the week. Two nil against Otelul Galati at home, not a great performance but we were still licking our wounds after the city game. One nil at home against Sunderland. I was at this game and it was one of the worst I’ve ever been to but it was three points and you have to accept we weren’t playing well at this time. One nil away to Swansea. Similar to the Everton game I’ll take this all day long especially considering our away form last season. 2 all against Benfica, finally we’re starting to look like our old selves again creating chances and if it wasn’t for some rubbish defending we’d have won this game comfortably. One all against Newcastle, they’ll need rocket scientists to figure out how we didn’t win this one. Created a bag full of chances so along with some embarrassing officialing if we weren’t so careless in front of goal we’d have won this game quite easily. Yesterday we won one nil away from home in a game we totally controlled and never looked like losing.

So to sum up what I’m saying is, it took us a while to get over one of the worst results in our history and understandably so. I worry when we’re not creating chances and as of late the chances are coming again so it’s inevitable that the goals will follow so someone soon is in for a proper hiding, quite possibly Wolves next week.

One point worth noting is that ever since the return of Carrick in the 83rd minute against Sunderland our performances have started to pick up. I’m not going to bluff here and pretend I’ve always been Carricks biggest fan because I haven’t but quite frankly he’s been one of our most important players (probably along with Vidic) in the last few weeks. He may not be the greatest midfield player we’ve ever had but on current form he’s the best we have. Maybe when Cleverley returns a Carrick/Cleverley pairing will ease our concerns while Sir Alexs’ master plan takes effect, I’m possitive he has one.

  160. CedarsDevil says:

    byron1970

    Top top post pal….brilliant

    Utd4life

If he really wants out then good luck and farewell, like you say it should be an honor to play for United…Still, it could all be paper talk, who knows?

  161. CedarsDevil says:

    byron1970

Just carrying on from your post, I remember after beating Boro 4-3 away I think it was a reporter asked Sir Alex whether he prefers winning 4-3 or 1- nil ………… 1 – nil any day of the week was the response

Of course as supporters we want to see more goals but you’ve pretty much summed it up brilliantly

  162. Utd4life says:

@Cedars.. Yea, it could be rumors. However, there’s no smoke without fire and there is a strong possibility that these rumors could be true. As you said, good luck to the lad if he leaves but I hope someone talks some sense into him.

  163. James21 says:

I’ve got to admit I was worried when Heskey came on. What a goal machine.
    Morning all.

  164. Zelh says:

If the people is right and Pogba refuses to sign a 15k week contract and wants 45k he can go fuck himself.

Looks like he believes in all the hype around him.
Even Bebe performed better in first team.

  165. Utd4life says:

Our gung ho, cavalier approach at the beginning of the season was never going to last. It’s all about getting solid and compact right now. The 1-0 victories will do just fine at the moment and eventually the performance will also improve. I would much rather fear a team that’s getting the job done without playing too well rather than one which is playing well.

  166. byron1970 says:

    CedarsDevil – Cheers

Yes the 1 nils are far more important than the high scoring wins with the emphasis being more on the nil than the one. As with the famous game against Spurs where we came from 3 nil down to win 5-3, it merley convered the cracks in our side at that time. While we all remember that game fondly, defensively we weren’t strong enough and Arsenal won the league that season. Not saying I want us to win 1 nil every game but as long as we’re getting the nil’s the 1′s, 2′s and 3′s will follow.

  167. Utd4life says:

@Zelh.. That’s exactly what I read. These agents are screwing with a young player’s career.

  168. CedarsDevil says:

    James21

Morning pal! Just missed you last night, bet you had a blast! Cracked me up on Heskey, was shacking like a nervous wreck here as well! hahaha

  169. Zelh says:

Utd4life – I might be harsh, but when a Phil Jones earns let’s say around 30k or 40k a week how could we justify to pay pogba even 15k?
He has talent, yes, but instead of finding feet in reserve, Jones is fuckin performing in the first team week in week out.

    There are worlds between them.

  170. dazbomber says:

@byron1970- Your spot on, people must have for got how we won the leagues with some many 1-0 Cantona and 1-0 Van Nistelrooy, i am sure we had ten in one season.Winning the league is about getting 3 points even when you might not deserve them, last night we played well controlled the game could have scored more but did not so what we won.

  171. Zelh says:

dazomber – don’t forget, I think it was 08/09 where we played 10 games or so 1-0.

  172. King Eric says:

What the fuck were Norwich up to yesterday. Pathetic defending. Final goal their fucking full back dribbling on edge of his box. Keeper gifting that goofy greedy cunt Nasri a goal. Six defenders round aguero and he nutmegs three. Fucking cunts. Like every team we are still the cup final. Highlighted by every ground we rock up at its their highest attendance of season. No doubt City are playing well and with confidence but every cunt is scared of them and showing them far too much respect. The european sides don’t and they beat them. Put some fucking effort in you cunts. I fucking loathe them. Even Pardew last week said he tried summat different at wastelands. Changed it for United. Yeah cheers Alan. Come on rentboys next week. We play first so put some fucking pressure on them.

  173. James21 says:

Lets face it, it should have been 2-0 if Wayne had released that ball to welbeck sooner. I’m still not sure why he didn’t but we won got 3 points where we only got 1 last season. These teams always play well against Utd and we have to really grind results out at the moment, keep getting the points reds and Shitty will keep being overconfident never looking over their shoulder until they reealise Utd have passed them.
Had to laugh, Villa fan coming out of Villa Park saying to his mate ‘ Oh yeh Fergie has lost it’ :D
Nearly said to him Would you have him as your manager? but wanted to keep a low profile as we had been winding them up all the game.

  174. CedarsDevil says:

    byron1970

Touche, again! Shutting up shop was critical, we were leaking in goals for fun. Having a solid back line is vital, with out you cannot win trophies and like you say the goals at the other end will soon start to flow… Sadly some looked at our results against Bolton and Arsenal and expected us to hammer every team we played

  175. CedarsDevil says:

    James

You and all the other REDS at Villa Park did us proud yesterday, as ever…. Out sung them through out the entire match…. Best supporters in the world

  176. Captain Park says:

Norwich rolled over for city to trash them. I believe every team raises their game against us but are not at the same level when they play other teams.

  177. Captain Park says:

That’s why we are more worthy champions then any other team!!

  178. CedarsDevil says:

Some daft fuck claiming to be a United fan phoned in last night on PLTV saying that Sir Alex should step down now, the panel laughed at him to be fair….. Could it be that Muddy Red or whatever the fuck his moniker is?

    Captain Park

Its no secret that United are every team’s cup final my friend, they all love to beat us more than anything else and we love that

  179. shebangsthedrums says:

It seems to be going unnoticed that Uniteds defence is as good as citys, take away the 6 they scored against us we’ve been far more solid than any other team, even with our early season injuries. As well as city are playing at the moment, they’ll come unstuck and their inability to keep a clean sheet could cost them.

  180. James21 says:

    Cedars
You should have seen the look on so many peoples faces, including Villa fans and Anders Lindegarde when they read your banner. ‘Cedars give us a wave :) ’ Priceless, ‘Who the fuck is Cedars’ :D
See my posts on the teams Thread re Lindegarde. Even Rene Meulensteen the coach who sits next to SAF read it and smiled. He was crossing the ball at the corner flag for the goal keepers.

Classic as well I shouted to the linesman when he was warming up ‘No dodgy penalties linesman’ He laughed and said ‘It wasn’t me’ The look on his face was a sheepish ‘I wouldn’t have given it’ Look.

  181. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@King Eric, Spot on mate! I exactly said the same thing when Chelsea rampaged through everyone in the 09-10 season. Nearly everybody I know scoffs at me when I give that reasoning. But they all know that it is also the truth! They know they can’t provide a proper logical answer, so they laugh me off saying I am a United fan, so I am biased.

But everybody fucking knows that for the remaining 19 teams, United is a special game. They can argue otherwise but it ain’t got a shred of truth to it. Like you say, we pull in the highest attendance numbers, that is proof enough. All other teams play at 75% against each other, but when United come calling it is usually 150%. They know that the whole world will hear about a victory or a point over United than against any other team. They all want the associated fame that marginal success against Manchester United can give them. But they are all too ashamed to accept it! Issa fack!

The fact that we still end up winning many of these itself is a testament to our superiority.

  182. byron1970 says:

Seroiusly we cannot start offering unproven kids 45 grand a week. It would simply be madness. With Roy Keane, we broke our wage structure to offer the greatest midfield player we’ve ever had 45 grand a week (I know that was over ten years ago and wages have gone through the roof since, but still). Don’t know if this story is true but if it is Pogba can go suck his dummy some place else. I’m only having a go at Pogba if this story is true, it probably isn’t. We’ll probably end up reading in the next month or so that he’s signed a new 5 year deal.

  183. CedarsDevil says:

    Mike

Always a pleasure my good friend and anytime may I add…. Just let me know

    Holy Trinity in town

  187. samuel - united WE stand says:

How can a guy that has not established himself be asking for 45,000 a fucking week? he has yet to do fuck all and i bet his agent is behind the supposed stall in contract negotiations.

I won’t be Suprised if that prick patrick vieira is behind this, trying to tempt him to city. He’ll never get in that heavily spending mercenary city side.

Of course Fergie has not said much on this matter so i’d assume it’s a media generated storm trying to unsettle united but as you know, there is no smoke without fire. Whatever the issue is, i’m sure sir alex will sort it.

  188. Mr C says:

1-0 away, three points racked up and Rooney settling in, learning the craft of his longer term play-maker role. That’ll do for me right now.

RIP Socrates- loved Brazil’s ’82 side.

  189. WillieRedNut says:

    RIP Socrates. Genius.

  190. CedarsDevil says:

    Mr C

Oh no, Socrates passed away? What sad news, RIP Dr Socrates, what a genius on the pitch he was and like you I loved that team of 82….

    Seriously feel sad now

  191. CedarsDevil says:

Posted this link a couple of times already but it is a worthy tribute to the late Socrates RIP

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZxvYy5-ekI

  192. James21 says:

Don’t worry your banner will be well travelled and very well documented over the season. Kick myself for not taking one.

  193. CedarsDevil says:

He strolled along the pitch like a fine stallion, could pick out a pass with his eyes closed, had a shot on him that would burst right through the net….. What a legend and what a fine gentleman he was….

    RIP Dr Socrates

  194. CedarsDevil says:

    James

Cheers pal, after all the jubilation I was feeling, this latest death has saddened the hell out of me, sort of puts things in perceptive….I had a lot of respect for that man

  195. Mr C says:

Cedars, thanks for putting up the link mate. A fitting tribute to a great player from a great team. A sad day indeed. RIP Socrates.

Anyway, to cheer myself I looked up Robbo’s goal against France in the same competition. As you’re noted fan of the great man, I hope it cheers you a bit too.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WbxYCe4AWw

  196. James21 says:

Yeh very sad news. Zico was supposed to be the star of the show and the Dr stole it. Remeber his penalty when it looked like he’d dummied then calmly placed it into the net.

    Off topic
I read this in yesterdays mirror. Brilliant.

Football is always touched more than it expects when it looses one of its own. Whether it be legends like Bobby Moore and George Best or lesser known players like David Rocastle or justin Fashanu, their depths hit you harder than you imagined they would.
But the length and depth of the mourning of Gary speed by fans of clubs he never played for, is something I’ve never seen before and raises a topical question.
If you can be so profoundly sad about the death of a football man you never knew, how can you be so profoundly cruel by singing about the deaths of other football men (and women) at Munich, Hillsborough and Istanbul? Maybe during the silences and applause for Gary Speed, those who do, can ask themselves Why.

    Brian Reade Daily Mirror.

  197. CedarsDevil says:

    Mr C

Thanks for that, you know the way to my heart….. It did cheer me up pal. Not into stats and records but I think that goal was one of the quickest at a WC for a while?

  198. WillieRedNut says:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shjPjt9PwFs

RIP Socrates. Brazil were special in 82. How they didn’t win the WC that year, is baffling.

  199. CedarsDevil says:

    James21

That is some belting article…. Answer though is simple, the world is full of sad and pathetic cunts, most of which are Leeds fans

  200. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

I could have sworn you would also post that link pal…..

  201. CedarsDevil says:

A classic from that world cup for me was the semi between West Germany and France…. The French 3-1 up during extra time and in steps Rummenigge…. Not forgetting that karate style kick by Shumacher on a French player (Cannot remember his name)

As I said before, after that tournament I lost interest in the WC

  202. WillieRedNut says:

Snap Cedars! Didn’t check yours. Went on instinct. spooky?

  203. Mikekelly12 says:

    Mr C
Thanks for that link. Captain Marvel is my hero!
Cedars – top link pal. RIP Socrates, he was the epitemy of what that Brazil side were all about. Can’t believe how young he was.
James – great article and very true! Unfortunately the idiots who sing the filth are the ones who haven’t felt any compassion for Gary Speed and his family so doubt it would make any difference.

  204. CedarsDevil says:

I know you didn’t Willie, hence my prediction! Another RoM spooky moment!

  205. WillieRedNut says:

Italy and Rossi stole that WC in 82. He didn’t even play the first few games. That was Brazil’s WC!

  206. Mikekelly12 says:

    Cedars
I think it was Batiston. He never played again!

  207. Mikekelly12 says:

I don’t think schumacher was even booked!!

  208. Mikekelly12 says:

Bristol Rovers v Totten in the FA Cup 2nd round. Proper football!!!

  210. Mikekelly12 says:

    Uganden Red
Ha ha top spot mate. Let’s hope he scores his 20th nxt year with the same stats!

  211. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

Very happy with performance yesterday just got my voice back which was a top away end.

Carrick was brilliant again and the defence was solid. Also great to have two qualify keepers lindy is proper looking the part

  212. xol says:

Sad to hear indeed. Only found out yesterday he was ill and posted a link. Remember doing the Socrates penalty at school. Loved the style of play with those one-twos that cut out 6 or seven players. A real Hero in Brazil also off the field. RIP

  213. James21 says:

    Cedars, Mike
Yeh I suppose you can’t educate the Brainless.
Can’t wait for the Wolves game now and another 1-0 will do fine. :)

Did you see the official photo’s on Manutd.com cracking one of Jones and Vidic well worth a cut and paste.

  214. Mikekelly12 says:

    James
Not seen them mate. Will have a butchers. Vidic, like I posted yesterday, Vidic plays, we don’t concede! Awesome!!
Off topic. I’ve just seen 3 goals from Bristol Rovers. I shit you not, had they come at Old Trafford , the nou camp or bernabaeu, they’d be shown over and over again. Quality!!

  215. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Ya them buggers did steal it…. Do not support Brazil but I remember being shocked and gutted when Italy beat them…

    Mike

Yep that is the one, and you are right Shumacher was never booked! Bloody ridiculous

  216. Costas says:

I’ve never slated Carrick and I never will. I do have to wonder though. He’s (arguably) been our player of the month. Is that a compliment to how much he’s raised his game or a worrying sign about how our high profile players have performed?

  217. CedarsDevil says:

    Mike

Cheers for the heads up, will look them goals up later

  218. sachu says:

    GOOD MORNING

AND ONE PAPER SAYS FERGIE WILL SELL RIO AND VIDA
IF POGBA WANTS 45OOO NOW THEN after 5 years he will want 500000 aday

  219. Costas says:

And RIP Socrates. Never got a chance to see him play, but he was all I heard about the Brazil team post Pele and before Romario. He bridged the two generations. Lets hope that the death comes in threes motto doesn’t come true here.

  220. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

If you are looking for an answer than I think its a bit of both, however credit to Carrick, he is back to his best

  221. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

Jonesy to play in midfield against Brasel ? He’s no Carrick, would be a risky move. I wouldn’t play him, Park has been in fine form IMO. Jones could get a run out but its best to play safe, now that Carrick is out. Damn it we need carrick for this one.

    Team for Brasel;

    …………….Lindegaard
    Smalling…..Rio…….Vida…..Evra
    ……………………………………………….
    …………Fletch………Giggs….Park
    …………………………………………………
    ……Nani………Rooney…….Young

R.I.P – Socrates – Not seen much, but enough to know how good he was and how highly rated.

  222. WillieRedNut says:

Thanks for bringing me down Costas.

  223. sachu says:

    @costas
he definetely has raised his game . i have high hopes of cleverley and carrick there.
that fucking prick ruud gullit has said we are a one man team.
people should just be calm and wait . i believe we can be top by jan 3 wen we face newcastle.
i expect the title race to go the wire and expect us to win no 20 at wastelands.

  224. WillieRedNut says:

That was for your post at 12.59. ;)

  225. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

I think we’re all feeling a bit down after that news, however if you want to have a go at Costas I would be more than happy to watch and enjoy! hahahaha

Cedars? Who the fuck is Cedars

Got me a banner travelling around the country, ‘Cedars give us a wave’ so proud… thanks to James

Im telling you this guy is one for the future, his name is Eric, No.19, named twice for emphasis, he is the man to lead us to the CL final in Munich and knock City off their perch (?).

  227. King Eric says:

    Balaji. Hello mate. Spot on.

James. Ha. Nice one pal. Kudos for that cedars banner. Would love to see it. Nice link on Robbo but can’t watch it on blackberry. Is it still the quickest goal scored at a world cup final in 27 seconds? Ingerlund were wearing red shirts that night if I remenber correctly.

Shebangsthedrums. Hello love. Spot on about City. They concede every game but no cunt mentions it. Mind you why would they when they are scoring for fun? Bastards. We will reel them in. Hoping they drop points to the rentboys and arsenal.

RIP Socrates. Loved that player and team with zico falcao dunga etc. Really long legged player. That defeat to Italy was a right game. Hat trick from a young Paolo Rossi. Those were the days. I even remember the mascot at Spain 82. It was that Naranga. Or Orange.

Samuel. You may be right mate about that cunt Viera being behind this Pogba shit. IF it is true then I will drive the cunt there myself. Probably bollocks though. Would rather see lads like Tunni and Morrison anyway. Would run through brick wallls especially the former being a big United fan. Think he was a city fan till he joined United as a kid though.

  228. CedarsDevil says:

    Papii

Regarding Socrates, I do not think I have ever watched a player that made the game look so simple, whilst of course we all know its not

  229. WillieRedNut says:

A lot of players made the game simple. Heskey makes it look like rocket science.

  230. James21 says:

KE look to the East on Saturday left of the goal tier 2, 8 rows up. Its white about 1 metre square.

  231. King Eric says:

Cedars. Hello mate. That cunt schumacher caught Patrick Batiston. Awful challenge. Nearly decapitated him.

James yeah saw that Brian Reade article yesterday. Not a bad journalist for a dipper.

  232. Costas says:

I think it’s what Cedars said guys. It’s a bit of both (as it’s usually in life, lol). Some of the United journos on twitter have been singing Carrick’s praises in recent weeks pointing to his passing percentages. Someone also said that United have only conceded one league goal while Carrick was on the pitch. The Newcastle penalty. So he’s clearly hitting top form. At the same time, it’s hard not to notice the lack of spark in our attacking players these days. (Sorry willie :P )

    @sachu

And which one man would that be? Carrick? Tom? Rooney? Vidic? Nani? I expect better line of thinking from great veteran players…

  233. Redslevin says:

Emile Heskey celebrated his 500th Premier League appearance

Fucking World Class Stunning testicle dropping shot from Alan Smith….no not the Arsenal man/Commentator…..The one and only SMUDGER !

He will always be remembered for his Goal vs Roma and his form when Keano retired. He looks like Jesus at the moment  Lad still thinks he’s the messiah

  236. WillieRedNut says:

Redslevin – 500 appearances is staggering.

  237. CedarsDevil says:

    King Eric

Hiya pal, what is the latest on the delivery? Must be hotting up now….

As our friend Mike already said, Shumacher was not even booked for that challenge!

  238. wayne says:

Think Pogba’s had his head turned by City read the other day City already submmitted a contract to his agent,if it is true its a fucking joke. How the fuck can City lose 200mill a year and keep overpaying for every player and prospect,i hope the fair play rules will address this because with all Citys money just making a mockery of the whole process and these cunts have no principles,City really are fucking disgusting only way to describe them is ‘everything that’s wrong with football’

  239. King Eric says:

Fuck me Scott mate. Are you ever gonna do any reactions to game or has that gone down the shitter? Cheers.

  240. Costas says:

I am still ashamed to admit that when I initially started watching football and Heskey was playing for Liverpool, I thought he was a great player.

  244. WillieRedNut says:

If Poggers wants to leave United for city, then I’ll give King Eric the petrol money. Stupid wee lad. If true, of course. Game seems rigged.

  245. MG says:

    Heskey

    Football Manager God

RIP Socrates – passed away earlier – had alcohol problems – 57

Like Bestie shouldn’t be remembered for what he couldn’t control in his life but what he could on a football pitch

    Afternoon United

    19

  246. CedarsDevil says:

James – Enjoy lunch and them (sigh) beers pal

Costas – Loved it, cannot believe it went out for a throw in! hahaha

smartalex – Good afternoon my good friend

  247. Costas says:

Maybe Pogba should ask Mikel if he regrets choosing money over Sir Alex.

    @Balaji

He was. And then Houllier got a hold of him and rendered him useless.

  248. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    @str

Mate I agree with king Eric any chance of going back to the quick reactions after the game?

Note to all the people having a go at the 1-0 wins may want to think back to our away form last year. We have alredy took more points away this year than we did all last year.

  249. smartalex says:

ps Watch those highlights now, or download it. These videos don’t stay up too long.

  250. MG says:

If Pogba wants to leave United to city I’ll compensate Willies advance petrol payment to KE

  251. MG says:

    My feelings are pretty simple

    Pogba isn’t going anywhere

However hypothetically let’s say he wants to go – let hime go – look what happened to Mikel!

  252. smartalex says:

Good afternoon, sincere CedarsDevil! excuse please my stilted conversation.
My internet connection today is like morse code. Spurts and dashes, like sex at the office.

  253. MG says:

    Rephrase:

    Look what happened to Mikel!

    As Costas pointed out ;)

  254. WillieRedNut says:

KE – Read on United’s website, that Tunni didn’t support city as a kid? Not that it matters now, like. He’s Red for life!

  255. wayne says:

If you break this lads wages down over a 40hr week he’s making 2.25 per hr.lol doesn’t England have minimum wage requirements.

Blackpool have been reported to the Professional Footballers’ Association for paying one of their senior players, former Manchester United winger Bojan Djordjic, just £90 a week. (Mail on Sunday)

  256. Costas says:

Hi MG. If the Pogba-City stories are true, then it’s despicable how far this cancer has gone. Of course given the Le Havre situation, it won’t surprise me if Pogba goes for the bigger paycheck once again. That’s how Balotellis are made…

  257. CedarsDevil says:

Who the fuck is Cedars, who the fuck is Cedars…… Could just picture myself at them away grounds as James holds up that banner

  258. WillieRedNut says:

    Kooky?

  259. MG says:

    Afternoon Costas!

As if it ever bothered us!

    ;)

Still think though he hasn’t got the balls to take SAF on – but even if he did we all know what would happen

SAF knows what he’s doing contrary to doomie and gloomie reports

Especially if Pogbas agent reckons he can pull a deal without SAF knowing!

  260. MG says:

Cedars is The National President of the Sheep and Goat Association

    Kooky indeed!!!

  261. wayne says:

@Costas hi mate, looks like each generation of players become more and more mercenary, reflection of the direction Football has taken.More and more important to deveolp local talent at least then the club has some chance of loyalty.

  262. WillieRedNut says:

Yeah, whatever happened to the quick reactions? Miss those buggers. ;)

  263. Ash says:

Lol we play Manchester city away

  264. WillieRedNut says:

    City in the cup!!!

  265. WillieRedNut says:

Away at the wastelands! Come On!!

  266. smartalex says:

We can pick up the cup while we’re there.

  267. smartalex says:

Fucking sweet revenge! Come on United!

  268. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

City in the cup fucking get in

  269. smartalex says:

Blackpool have been reported to the PFA for paying one of their senior players just £90 a week.
Friends of former Manchester United winger Bojan Djordjic contacted the players’ union after finding out he is relying on help from former team-mates like John O’Shea to live ‘Blackpool were concerned about something in Bojan’s medical so they wanted to give him a contract of £90 a week plus appearance money. It was Bojan’s understanding that, if he was fit, he would be member of the first-team squad, but it hasn’t happened and he’s been left with virtually nothing.

‘Although things didn’t work out for him at Manchester United, he was a popular figure there and John O’Shea is helping him with accommodation.’

  270. King Eric says:

James. Sadly I won’t be at game mate on saturday as wife will be 39 weeks pregnant by then. More than my lifes worth to miss labour.

Cedars. See above mate. Thanks for asking.

Willie. Yeah think you are right about Tunni. Think some of his family are bitters and think Tunni had trials there as a kid.

Off topic but I really do like Lindergard. He is a nutter and provides some top quotes.

  271. Fred says:

    RIP Socrates :(

  272. denton davey says:

WillieRedNut @ 13:42: “Game seems rigged.”

Of course it is “rigged” – why do you think that UTD (with the biggest stadium, match-day revenues, and commercial income) have been able to be the leaders in the EPL for the past twenty years. No one can seriously think that Roy Keane-o or Dwight Yorke or Andy Cole or Rio or J-S Veron or Ruud or TheWayneBoy would have come to UTD if not for the combined attraction of high wages on the back of long-term success, which feed off each other. If Paul Pogba wants to join the assembled zillionaires (aka the “noisy neighbours”) then he’ll probably find out that ManShitty can promise high wages but it’s up to the whim-of-the-sheik to continue down that road; they might just revert to being in the second or third division if Mansour goes sour on the mercenaries.

Now that ManShitty – after CSKALondon – have changed the level of the playing field, it’s a bit rich for UTDfans to complain. It’s supporters of Notts Forest, Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday/United and so on that have complained because TVMoney and now sugar daddies are “rigging” the game. I sympathize with them BUT time moves on and how sweet has it been to watch TheLads take on the RentBoyz and beat them four out of the past five years, all the while knowing that if not for one MartinAtkinsonMoment UTD would now be five-peaters ? ManShitty should enjoy their MomentInTheSun because they know that SAF won’t be sleeping-on-his-watch.

  273. denton davey says:

SmartAlex @ 14:59: “City have 34 days left with a cup!”

A date with destiny – sweet revenge – for Dimmy ?

  274. smartalex says:

denton davey – that would be great!

  275. dickson says:
