I’m hoping our last signing will be Modric.
Shame that Fletch wont start the season, the more time that passes I fear he wont make it back. atleast hes been offered a role should he have to retire

  5. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Best of luck to Kagawa;
“Joining United is definitely the greatest challenge of my career and I hope to learn and improve every day.” ‪

Learning english looks like a priority.

Nani in Japaness means “what?”

  6. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Either Pranjic or Reto Ziegler will replace Baines !

When those deals, happen…then the Beansie will join :)

  7. CedarsDevil says:

  8. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Oh dear, someone is 24 months late to this debate.
Its Moutinho, who’s the flavour of the summer 12′

    ;)

Give us Heskey…he’ll anchor that midfield so Kagawa,Nani,Valencia,Rooney can run teams ragged.

  9. WillieRedNut says:

Baines is staying at Everton. Too much of Liverpool in his heart….

  10. 911_DEVIL says:

Warm welcome to our club shinji
You manages to get my heart pumping
I know its weird, but you seems to be a gym
    United, united, united

Weird because you haven’t done as much to deserve that
Only this something that keeps on driving me nuts
We might have all the talent in rooney and nani but a gym, we haven’t had one since the departure of ronnie.

I wonder why there is still someone who isn’t excited about this and still label himself a core red
Some just don’t seem to follow their hearts

  11. WillieRedNut says:

  16. CedarsDevil says:

  17. 911_DEVIL says:

I heard kagawa is being forced to shave his head by fergie :D

  18. james21 says:

Anderson can confirm Utd will have more Burger joints outside Old Trafford next season. :D

  19. mancdub says:

I don’t understand. Did Ronaldo take the gym to Madrid with him. United are so broke they can’t afford their own gym. That’s Glazernomics for you.

  20. 911_DEVIL says:

    Freaking cool man
    What fucking what :)

I still have this tape of rooney shouting at nani
    Now what!!

  21. james21 says:

Utd have sold the Gym to Shitty. Utd wanted 2 million and Shitty offered 10 Million + add ons. Deal done. :D

We will see the lads in action in 6 days playing in SA

  48. Zibbie says:

Or Evra/LB for a more defensive set up.

  49. Northwalesred says:

Nice to have two lads who WANT to play for us, rather than merceneries like Pogba,Hazard,Nasri etc who sell their souls to the highest bidder. When the chips are down, give me somebody who plays for pride and glory rather than a parasitic fly by night any day of the week.

  50. Zibbie says:

6 days 3 hours and 8 mins to kick off!!!!!!

  51. Zibbie says:

    Shade tree your so cool.

  52. CedarsDevil says:

    Northwalesred

    Well fucking said

  53. chuffer says:

Off topic I know…….don’t you hate it when people do that…………..but I’m loving this kit!!

  54. Zibbie says:

NWW awesome, spot on. Then have the mental make up for the press and maximizing of self that is demanded. like Nick found out his 1st training session with the 1st team!!!!!

  55. Zibbie says:

chuffer, off topic is drug once tasted, lets nobody go.

Cedars me ol half full china cup!
Tried texting u last night but I was one of the unfortunate masses who got fucked over for 24hrs by O2!!

  58. Unitedthoughts1 says:

Chuffer – really hope that is the away strip. Really smart. Would buy that over the tablecloth for sure

  59. Zibbie says:

I meant NWR not NWW oops.

  60. ididnotzeeit says:

It’s been nearly 20 years for me and I still can barely scrape out what the ol’ footy knight is saying in press conferences. Oddly enough, I find translation/comprehension much easier after a pint or six!!

  61. Zibbie says:

I …. love little baby ducks, and SAF”S signings… and blue pick up trucks.

  62. Costas says:

I was going to press play, but the picnic blanket has impaired my vision…

Off topic, the Greek U19 side has knocked out the English one. Tough luck Sam, Thorpe and Keane. :D

  63. Zibbie says:

I know you saw it!!!! From the bottom of empty pints!

  64. Zibbie says:

What type of meat on the Kebab today??

  65. CedarsDevil says:

    Mike

No worries my friend, I did get a text from you about the O2 issue though…….

Just watching a DVD of Billy Connolly, seriously shitting my self with laughter

  66. Costas says:

No kebabs today I am afraid. The heat wave over here is bad enough. Trying to avoid any meat sweat.

  67. Cyril Sneer says:

I…. love action and martial arts movies, rock n roll, good books and Shelby GT500s. And the new United kit. And Angelina Jolie. And Cheryl Cole.

  68. Zibbie says:

SAF was great to see him talk, LB done deal, maybe another MFer or wing.
Fletch is going into management or coaching or both.
Tunni, Andeson,TC23 to get a look to see if SAF thinks he has 2 good enough to back up Carrick, if not late MF arrival. He has 2-3 out there and if the dominoes fall right a rabbit out of the hat!!!!

  69. Cyril Sneer says:

Cedars – Which one? I have all Billy’s DVDs, he’s my favourite

  70. Zibbie says:

Sneer I was born dec 61, grew up with mussel cars.

  71. Costas says:

Didn’t watch the entire game, but Sam looked pretty composed. The England player that kind of impressed me was Ross Barkley. First time I’ve seen him.

  72. parryheid says:

So some are daft enough to think Powell will be playing first team foot ball at United this coming season?Dream on maybe a couple of sub appearances at best.

  73. CedarsDevil says:

    Cyril

His one in New York, the story of the old woman on the bus always makes me piss my pants…….Then there is an older one when he talks about seat belts and flight instructions on planes, that usually has me in tears

  74. Zibbie says:

I have a 67 convertible Cadillac, was light blue when I bought it, now Red. hehe I love cursing with the top down on the serpentine by-ways up the river valley.

  75. Cyril Sneer says:

Zibbie – Then you are no stranger to the awesomeness that is Eleanor. When my lottery numbers come up… Vin Diesel tells me Muscle cars beat imports every time, except in drifting of course :)

Cedars – New York one is awesome and 2 Night Stand is brilliant too. I like his travel stuff too.

  76. CedarsDevil says:

    Cyril

Here is a clip, the one with the old lady on the bus! Fucking legend he is

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyW0riD54nY

  77. Zibbie says:

wow, parry, SAF just said he is in the 1st team, he is just 18 a guy for the future. His future starts now! Get that angle, happy to have him but not Iniesta yet, you snark attacker. hehe

  78. Zibbie says:

Sneer I love desert driving, rear wheel power Roster Tails 150 feet long 40 feet high power sliding, as you power down shift, floor it to control it and wow!!!!!!!!!!! I watched the Baja 1000 2 times, so much more fun then I thought it would be.

  79. CedarsDevil says:

‘I don’t agree with the whole concept of flying, we do not fucking belong up there’ Ha ha ha ha

  80. Cyril Sneer says:

Zibbie – We need pictures of the Caddy man.

Cedars – Lowering the tone but nobody does a fart gag like Billy:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJvuHGtZU0w

  81. Zibbie says:

Sneer some never know what the car can do, for they fear failure or harm. To find the fastest way around the track. You must roll or wreak your car. To find, know then understand it’s limits. Only then can you maximize what you have.

In the desert, down shift, then floor it to control it, or roll it!!!!!!!!! So many never trust in self or vehicle of connivance to slow their mind to react to what is. They panic loss it and roll…..

  82. Zibbie says:

I still do not know how to do that Sneer, I will ask a friend to do it!

  83. CedarsDevil says:

    Cyril

Got that one too mate……….His gig in Brooklyn years earlier is my favourite

  84. Zibbie says:

I have a Camera that uses film, and love it. I do not own a digital camera.

  85. FletchTHEMAN says:

Words that Kagawa might get tripped up on

    We say ———– Kagawa hears
Nani ———– What?, as in WTF?
Danny ———– ダニ (mite) as in the insect
    Come on ——– 顧問 advisor

  86. Zibbie says:

Sneer I have a used PC that is not wireless. haha

  87. CedarsDevil says:

‘Today a fucking 747 smacked into a mountain in Peru, luckily all the passengers were wearing their seat belts’

    Ha ha ha ha ha

  88. Cyril Sneer says:

Zibbie – I hear most professionals still use film as well as digital. a lot of the time they end up having to use software programmes to recreate effects you can do using varying exposure on film.

Just goes to show, newer isn’t always better :)

  89. Zibbie says:

Ask smartalex how far my computer keyboard skills have come in some 18 months. My fingers know where the keys are now, for some 8 months now, haha at me. Zib ( 3rd person reference) welcome to the 90′s.

  90. Cyril Sneer says:

Just seeing Forest’s new sugar daddies have sacked Steve Cotterill and Harry Redknapp is in the running to take over!

  91. Zibbie says:

My fingers just 8 months ago knew were all the letters on the key board were.

  92. parryheid says:

So explain to an idiot how you reckon someone is going to jump from a railway team(2nd div by the way) into playing first team football for United.Convince me and you are nothing short of a genius. And this is the SAF who asks what position he can play, what does that tell you?

  93. CedarsDevil says:

‘So all engines are on fire and the plane is plunging into the ocean like a dart, and you have people running around asking how to do a double bolt on their life jackets’

    Ha ha ha

    This is seriously funny shit

  94. Sandeep1878 says:

    Evening reds,

    welcome Kagawa and Nick!!

  95. Zibbie says:

If I had a extra 10 billion lying around, I would buy an English club, then hire all that touched SAF and MUFC set up an Academy invest 500 million just in that. Have a custom Air Bus for the team a 737 for airports that the AB is to big for and step the fuck back and let Ole coach the team. I would start a company called Old Trafford and buy naming right to Old Trafford for 100 million a year so the name can stay the same and still generate Revenue. And after every win at home free beer and ale and stout for all in 4 hours and free cabs home.

  96. Sandeep1878 says:

    Costas,

your country is in the finals..

    :)

  97. Sandeep1878 says:

Nick Powell on his first day at United……

“Walking into the dressing room and seeing my name on my peg was a great feeling and the first people I saw were Giggsy and Scholesy. I’m just used to seeing them on TV so it was pretty amazing to see them stood there. They came overstraight away and welcomed me which was great. I’m really looking forward to playing and training with them – Scholesy is a midfield maestro and one of the best in the world ever andthen you’ve got Giggsy who has been running the left wing for over 20 years.”

  98. 911_DEVIL says:

    Some *uppets in here :D
How can ronaldo take the gym machines to los blancos
Always failing miserably on your attempts to take the piss

  99. Zibbie says:

parry do not have to or want to convince you or anyone, that is what you do not get about me. It is fine, 12.425% people I meet in this world feel as you do with me, frustrated. No malice in they way I view the world. For me SAF does not HAVE to do anything, he does what he can. That is fine by me. Sure I have human desire for MORE! and …. But approaches in life of life are a very personal thing

  100. CedarsDevil says:

‘I flew in on Concord today, I fucking arrived before I left’ ha ha ha ha

Ok enough of this, pissing off for me walk

  101. Sandeep1878 says:

    Zibbie,

I just pray to god you have 10 Billion and do book me a free air ticket from Bangalore and make me a season ticket holder ;) i will be glad all my life :P

  102. Zibbie says:

    1878 awesome Powell, Nick Powell.

  103. FletchTHEMAN says:

Parryheid Bit rough on the lad son. He is only 18. After all United is freaking famous for rags to riches stories. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Chris Smalling, some recent successes. Still pulling for Bebe myself, so that tells you what a sucker I am. Cheers.

  104. Zibbie says:

I would buy a RoM compound and free pickup to RoM regulars and compensate lost wages and all on the RoM compound bill. Housing, party rooms with games of choice, huge TVS every where and free open top self bar. A RoM resturaunt/ buffet . Set up a fund where the interest would cover those costs in perpetuity. The Zibbie compound….

  105. Zibbie says:

Fletch parry is almost always harsh. real constant in his views and approach.

  106. parryheid says:

In other words you are flying by your coat tails. All I asked was how you think Powell will play first team football this season not that he never will, nothing too difficult about that. The rest of your reply I do have difficulty understanding particularly how I see you and why would that be worth a comment.

  107. parryheid says:

    FletchtTHEMan

How do you mean Rough? I thought I was being realistic, seeing things as they are I mean I really don’t think Superman can fly.lol

  108. Zibbie says:

No I could not own another team and build RoMland for MUFC games, I would buy 50 season tickets at OT for mu friends.

  109. Zibbie says:

I am thinking of selling every thing and get some land on the central coast of Oregon.

    http://rainieryurts.reachlocal.com/?scid=521916&kw=1461756

  110. Zibbie says:

Get me a Yurt, a Yack a Mongol mail order bride. I will have it made. Anyone know what Yack tastes like or Yack milk and cheese?

  111. Sandeep1878 says:

if he has footballing brain and right attitude, why cant an 18 year old slot into first team?

for fuck sake we know nothing about the lad..

i fancy him in the first team, Nick was good for Crewe, as good as that cunt Pogba for reserves..

did anyone question how would he make it to first team?

in my view, Nick has got better football brain than Pogba..and that’s my view..the lad is silky, fast, takes early shots and has an eye for the goals..

i wouldnt be surprised at all if he starts the cup games..

  112. Zibbie says:

40-75 year round. Nice, perfect fatguy weather.
Wild mushrooms galore and truffles as well. Not like Northern Italiano truffles but good. Fresh crab, seafood. Fresh Yack.

  113. FletchTHEMAN says:

I see Powell getting a sniff in the early games of the CC and FAcup plus games with the Reserves. Exactly as we have pulled all our youngster along as the graduate into the first team.

The comparisons are Nick Powell at 18 vs Gibson at 18, or Danny at 18.
Except for the odd game for Pogba (19) or Tunni(19) you really don’t expect our youngsters to be first teamer regulars until they are pushing 21.

The famous Community Shield team of last year still averaged 22yo. Only looked that young because of
DeGea 19, Cleaverley 21, and Phil Jones 19, Danny 20.

Nick should be viewed as someone who will be developed. Just as all our 18-22yo signings. 2-3 years is huge for this age. This view even puts Chicharito in the frame of a developing player.

Powell is 18, he has played for England juniors, he can play at pace with both feet, he only cost 2M as the initial fee, that is not bad. Lets not come in with the hype that Phil Jones (future england captain) has been saddled with. Bit much and not fair to the lads involved.

  114. wayne says:

Don’t see Powell getting to much game time to begin with more of a learning curve unless the kid proves to be a enigma

  115. Zibbie says:

Some people can put a bad or negative spin on signing the best of Britons young AMF/attacker talent of 2012 with the 5/6 rule, then blowjobs suck because teeth touched my cock once.

  116. Zibbie says:

some when given a chance, earn or take more mins, like Jones last year as well as Welbeck, the year before that Smalling garbing his chance and ran like Lil Pea as well the Evans 3 years back. ect.. Most take longer to develop into a PL player, most get shipped off and just like Everton and Sunderland, grab the good pros from MUFC and you 2 will be better. It is hard to break into the 1st team at MUFC, Real, Barca,. BM, AC MILAN, Inter ect. Slag him on his 1st day that,s cool???!!! wtf

  117. Sandeep1878 says:

    Zibster,

then blowjobs suck because teeth touched my cock once.

    you sucker ;)

  118. parryheid says:

    Sandeep1878.

I questioned both Pogba and Morrison on this site, said they were being used as a smokescreen to mask not buying in the january window. And you have confirmed my view with start cup games statement.Afraid I am to hairy arsed to believe that when our manager ask’s O’Grady where he plays he is going to be other than a bencher but that’s just me.

  119. Zibbie says:

@Wayne he Powell is for 2014 and beyond, he is not the answer to beating Barca. I get that.

  120. Zibbie says:

    Yea but, yea but’s….

  121. Zibbie says:

parry really wow, same old. what about the CR$ why does SAF not do this, that.. You ak the same thing some 437 different ways and question others frustration with U????? 4 real dude???? hehe me see U….

  122. Costas says:

Fergie himself said that Powell is under development. And even if he didn’t have to adapt to a new position, I couldn’t see him breaking into the first team during the 12-13 season. Parry is right that you can’t expect someone who joined us from Crewe to make an immediate impact. He needs time. So that being said, we still don’t know how our midfield has improved this summer. Scholes and Giggs will be a year older, Fletcher unfortunately is on the verge of retirement and we’ve lost Pogba. Taking a gamble on Carrick avoiding any injuries again the way I look at it.

  123. FletchTHEMAN says:

Any info on the scout that identified Shinji Kagawa for United?

Fergie named him as Peter Braund at the presser.

  124. Sandeep1878 says:

    Zibbie,

those Oregon cottages are fuckingly awesome pal..incredible..

  125. Costas says:

    @Sandeep

I know mate. I don’t remember any Greek national side beating an English one before. It’s a rarity. :D

  126. Zibbie says:

Costas congrats today, a good day for the fatherland of western civilization!!!

  127. Mikekelly12 says:

    KAPOWell!!

  128. parryheid says:

Your post absolutely baffles me,I can not decipher that. But I will tell you a few years back Gogarburn was sold to developers and I always wondered where the patients went .Well I know now where at least one went,Here.

  129. Zibbie says:

I have a friend he has one on his land for a art studio and a guest house he runs water to it 8 months a year. In the milder weather of the Mid OR coast!!

    https://www.google.com/search?q=coos+bay+oregon&hl=en&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=WRX_T-CWIoi-rQHRwLSLCQ&ved=0CGsQsAQ&biw=1026&bih=695

  130. Sandeep1878 says:

    Parry,

I never thought Pogba was the solution for our midfield and for that matter Nick Powell aint a solution either..

too young as you put it..but with Nick we dont know yet..and certainly Sir Alex isnt thinking he is our midfield solution either..

but i see nothing wrong in we developing the lad for central mid..

even scholesy started as a striker..

in my view, Nick has arrived as just the kind of replacement for Pogba, nothing less and nothing more than that and Pogba was not the solution and he wasnt ready for first team either..

Nick will go through the reserves and cup games and may be he can sniff around the first team next season..

but your comment on the lad was a bit harsh, your intention was to question our midfield strength and signings, but you have used the Nick Powell coy, who has signed for us just Today!!

  131. Zibbie says:

Costas I am so sold on another CDM and then I trust SAF and wonder why? I see:
Carrick, Scholes (20 games), Anderson, Tunni given a chance, TC23 maybe a back up for a back up there, he is more of an attacking or linking force. then like abortion, strong stances on both sides, Jones as a version of a sweeper/ CDM. Muddled at best for me.

    100 mill fun to spend!!!

  138. Costas says:

    @Zibbie

My last comment was in reference to your Greece comment. :)

As for our midfielders, the numbers alone aren’t my problem. Technically, we are covered. But when you start analyzing each player, you can’t help but worry. Some players are in the twilight of their career, others have cast doubts over their ability to stay injury free for an extended period of time and others (Tunni and Powell) are too young to be depended on. And then we have Carrick. but how much longer can we depend on him. He had an exhausting season in 11-12 and even though he didn’t go to the Euros, you have to wonder if he can do it all over again. Jones is someone that could offer a breath of fresh air there (especially in games where we will need a midfield destroyer), but that will also depend on Rafael staying fit, so that Jones doesn’t have to cover for him. A lot of fragile balance as I like to say in this squad..

    @Sandeep

It’s already a success mate, but if they manage to lift the trophy, that will be awesome. Greece have a tendency to do well in these younger categories.

  139. Zibbie says:

Every day, is a good day for THCCCCC ya!!!!

I hope the scousers will wear John Terry T’s in pre season training ;)

  141. james21 says:

One for now and one for the future. Normally the scousers snap up Crewe’s finest so lets see.
Powell might get a look in when Utd are 3 or 4 up then again he might settle in and boss games. God I wish I had a crystal ball as well.

    Zibbie
    :D You Rooney Looney.

  142. Zibbie says:

Well Costas I agree with your insightful breakdown of MUFC’S MF we agree in the same things many times we just take a different path some to most of the time. hehe

  143. parryheid says:

    Sandeep1878.
I don’t see anything wrong with developing any young player for whatever positions.I do however see plenty wrong with claims they are going to be launched into our first team with no evidence to back it up.I and plenty others know our midfield is piss poor and the signing of Kagawa may be the start(long overdue) of putting it right. But there is still a way to go to satisfy me and I will scrutinize like others everything we do.We need an other quality mid and that costs so stump up or our season will be derailed before we are much into it.You may differ and so be it.

  144. Zibbie says:

    I’M LOONEY FOR WAYNE ROONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  148. Sandeep1878 says:

    Parry,

I know where you coming from mate..

but i really dont know which player will solve our midfield problems..

we need a little beasty and powerful driving midfielder out there..we are a bit too soft if we compare this with our previous midfield…

need a strong character there, but i doubt this happening..

yeah we might differ in opinions some times but we move on, we are debating for a cause, not as if we are jealous on each other..

I’m buzzing about Shinji he just looks class. I don’t think Fergie will add again it looks like Anderson might have one more life left.

To be honest, today was one of the rare occasions I got to see the U19s. The two you mentioned did well. Katidis in particular. I am also a fan of the goalkeeper, Kapino. He has a lot of potential.

Nice to hear there will be a few quality reinforcements for the Greek senior team soon. Even Karagounis can’t go on forever though he is the Greek Giggs/Keano in one.

  157. eric keane says:

  158. ididnotzeeit says:

    @ Giggs12

Jesus mate, how dare you be optimistic? C’mon lad, let’s be realists here. Our midfield’s shyte. We’ve no cover at left back for Evra, never mind cover for Carrick at CM. Giggs and Scholes are nothing more than Club Ambassadors. Tom and Ando can’t last a month, forget a season. SAF’s past his due date. Shinji’s a kit salesman. Powell’s a pub player. Puppies are vile beings and rainbows are for numpties. The fucking sky is falling chap, find a bunker, some non-parishables and I’ll text you when the season’s over.

    Pfft, optimism, who needs it?

    @Cyril

Yeah, there are some talented youngsters coming through. And the senior side is also getting renewed over the last 2 years. The problem with young Greek players is that it doesn’t take a lot for their heads to reach the clouds. That’s why they fail to repeat their successes with the senior team. From what I’ve seen there are 1-2 potential Karagounis’ replacements. In terms of ability anyway. You can’t replace his expressions though.

now let the wank fest ” United let a great youngster leave the club” begin..

  171. WillieRedNut says:

Sandeep – More likely Evans filling in at LB mate. He’s played there for Northern Ireland. Smalling will be pushing hard for a spot beside Rio, or Vidic. I rate Biggie Smalling as a top class CH.

  175. UNITED4Life says:

i don’t know why we are not after spanish midfield/LB players..they are cheap and quality unlike the british..

  176. Costas says:

    @Sandeep

Ah, would have prefered France. Spain usually get the best of us in these categories.

    @Willie

The problem with Jonny is that against a quick winger like Walcott or Lennon, he will have a lot of problems at left back. I really don’t get why we’ve left ourselves just with that alternative. It’s ridiculous.

  177. Sandeep1878 says:

    Willie,

    agree on that pal,

i think Smalling and Evans will be rotated as and when required at RB and LB respectively..

they are our cover for Rafa and Evra..

i think Smalling will be a revolution this season..its coming..

its just a thought, wing backs need pace and Smalling has got more pace than Evans..

and also let us not forget, Evans is one of the best game reading CH we have after Rio, so his services are best at CH i believe..

going for Baines is no use i feel…but if at all we sign, i welcome him..

  178. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Mike

This weekend pal looking forward to it.

  179. Zibbie says:

  183. WillieRedNut says:

  184. james21 says:

    Giggs
Very well and looking forward to my new noisy buddies in K stand.
Just enjoyed seeing England beat the Aussies and now ready to see what the South Africans are made of, hope Dale Steyn has an off series. It passes the close season time.

  185. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    Parry
I’m guessing you don’t likes Baines either :P

    Lets be real about Powell.

He’s 18, he won’t even play Carling Cup. He might come on a sub in those games against Huddersfield but not in a slightly hard carling cup tie against Middlesbrough. Did Pogba play all of them? Nope.

Powell needs gym work, fitness work and needs reserve football to educate him. He has to get used to the quality of being surrounded by players 100x better and experienced than him in reserve/ 1st squad. He has to catch up with others his age. Look at Aaron Ramsey and Oxlade down at Arsenal, they’ve been eased in the best way possible, even then it’s been fast tracked because of the hype.

Nick Powell will be luck to get 90 minutes next season. He should consider it a bonus getting cameo appearances in the FA cup, Carling Cup and on Tour he’ll play the odd game…but only for us and SAF to get some inside info on the boy.

I don’t want to see no Pogba vs Powell bullshit….utter crap, both very different players. Pogba is a very talented guy, was tipped to be the next Scholes for us before he left, now that he’s gone doesn’t mean his football brain is thrown out the window. He’s still big and promising. Tbh we know nothing of Powell, lets not sing and dance about him yet.

Powell’s one for the future probably, I look forward to seeing him in action.

  186. wayne says:

Up to Baines to get involved and put in a transfer request if Everton want to much,at his age probably last chance to make a big club.Sir Alex needs to stop doing Moyes favours by letting have our players cheap if Everton are being dicks

  195. Costas says:

    @Sandeep

Yeah, I agree that Smalling and Evans should start coming more into the fold. And Vidic’s return is giving us a good opportunity to start moving beyond the Rio-Vidic partnership. But if we start using these players as full backs, it will do nothing for their development. Plus, they haven’t shown signs of being above average full backs anyway. That’s why I’d like to see someone else filling in for Rafa and Evra when they can’t play.

    @willie

Well there has to be someone out there. I remember saying the same during the Sneijder saga last year. There are thousands of footballers out there. Why put all our eggs in one basket?

  196. parryheid says:

The other thing you have to appreciate is that we have to find players who WANT to play for us. There are plenty of players out there, trouble is a lot of them would rather play elsewhere. I.e. Jordi Alba

  199. WillieRedNut says:

Costas – Names! :) There might be, but maybe they’re not right for us. Quite sure we’ve looked, and are looking for a quality LB. We’re not the only ones searching though. Fergie touched lucky, when he was able to sign Evra, while Heinze was still at United. It could be we have more trouble finding Paddy’s long term replacement, than we did Heinze’s…

  200. WillieRedNut says:

    Mikey – We agree!

  201. UNITED4Life says:

    @Mikekelly12 says:

i respecfully disagee with that..we are the most successful/global club and many players dream to play for us(except few of them) so it is not like our option is limited, after all it is Man United not any ordinary PL team…

  202. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

Who needs anyone else we have TC23, the year of fulfillment is upon us

  203. Mikekelly12 says:

    United4life
You don’t have to pursuede me. I and many others would play for United for free. We are however very bias! But we’d have to be naive to think that Man United would be every top players first choice even without taking into account wages. We had been linked with Jordi Alba for several years, however, he wanted to play for Barcelona.

I’m not actually seeing lines and lines of top players knocking on SAF door desperate to wear the Red Shirt.

  207. WillieRedNut says:

UNITED4life – In an ideal world, you’d be right. Fact is, alot of players nowadays are motivated by money. Hazard is one. To us, United are the biggest and best club. To some of these modern young lads, we’re just another big club. Chelsea wouldn’t lace our boots on a bad day. Come nowhere our history and traditions. Yet, he chose them. Why? Money mate. Gill said it best. When United go up against the likes of Chelsea and city, we can’t compete financially, so we hope our great history will swing it in our favour. That’s why I respect a guy like Kagawa. He could’ve earned more money elsewhere, but he wanted United so bad. That’s a rare thing in todays game…

  208. ididnotzeeit says:

    @ Mike

Here, here. And couple that with the fact that a lot of players these days “dream” of playing at a club with the biggest paychecks and you’ve a hair of a problem. If players don’t have a “boyhood club” (or six in Robbie’s Keane’s case) then the colors they prefer are green on green.

  209. Sandeep1878 says:

    UNITED4life,

partly agree but the quality players in Germany and Spain do not want to play outside their country…

plus we have to keep our wage structure in mind, which falls way beyond competition when big cunts like City, madrid, chelsea enter..

and to add to the worries, they are winning titles..

so it is really important to go for the players who WANT to play for us..like Kagawa..

for example, we are in for Modric, but his heart was and is set somewhere..

    ###

i still believe our scouts will be going for the unknown names most of the times..like they did with Evra, Vida, Smalling, Chico..plus odd fans or media favorites…

    ##

the opinions are divided here on Baines as LB..

so one can imagine at what level the clubs will be thinking of when they need a certain player..

its not that we are sitting dumb..we are accessing the possible resources..

    ###

at the same time we crib about playing time for youngsters..

i m still of the opinion we will not be signing a midfielder this season..

    carrick/tom c/ando/scholesy

  214. ididnotzeeit says:

I’d argue again that not being “decisive” in transfers is rubbish. Times have changed. Agents know there’s BIG f’in money out there. United come knocking, present an offer and these agents tap up other richer (by means of higher transfer and wage packages) clubs saying, this is what United are offering. A City (in Silvas case) comes back with twice the fee there goes our decisiveness out the window. I truly believe Kagawa could have gone elsewhere for more money. But he wanted to wear the shirt. It’s been confirmed Jones had higher bids ahead of us, but he wanted to wear the shirt. I think we all can agree (well, no, fucking of course not, what a shit blog that’d be) that De Gea was a nice coup but once again, the player, wanted to wear the shirt. Undecisive? No not for me. Playing the hand we’re dealt (and well I might add) yes, I believe so.

  215. james21 says:

The Scousers are a top club, a club built on history. They have to settle for Downing, Carroll, Adam etc when they should be in the market for all the top players. Times have changed with players and their agents wanting a cut of the big money on offer at Shitty, chelsea and now PSG. I’m sorry to say it but we can’t compete in our present finacial position. If these said players like Silva, Villa, Hazard etc had really wanted to come to Utd because we are Manchester Utd then they’d be here now weather we offered less money or not. David Villa was always going to Barca, he’s Spanish so you can’t blame him wanting to stay in his home country. In the end it all comes down to agents demands.

  216. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

;) Parry – I would take Baines….anything above £12m however and I’d be more annoyed. I don’t mind add ons though haha.
Left back shouldn’t cost anything above £10m at most…but the premiums on these over-rated English players are crazy. (Rodwell,Baines, Henderson,Carroll, lesscott etc )

    MikeKelly –

Bebe was 20 years old when we signed him plus he’s better than Powell
But Baby Bebe was a £7m dodgy payment so we can’t use him as an example and we probably only played him to activate some dodgy add on’s clause.
    :P
However if the Bebe transfer was “legit”, we fans should learn lessons and not expect much from young Nick Power…he might turn out to be the next Henderson for all we know !

Better day today still there though – doing crazy things but hey I think I got used to it now – took a day off to slow down a bit and concentrate – so ended up cleaning the car before it started raining – so couldn’t do the inside

Time for a cheeky comment – first one in over a month – anyone want to buy an Audi A4 S-line?

    ;)

Well I am in the process of selling it lol

Hope everyone is well – so thrashed just could do with a really big break – there again just could with the eye getting better

Lovely to see the two signings – very upset about Fletch – so much so had a moment all by myself – having to live with something is so hard and then to get better and go again…

Well Fletch I said a prayer

    Till tomorrow – 19

Well you’d pay quite a bit more than I considering his age.To tell the truth I am hoping it would only be a back up that would only come into play if Evra doesn’t return to the form of two seasons ago.Agreed the prices asked are too much but with something of real proven class as it would likely only be one player I feel the club has room for a player to match/surpass Rooney’s wad.

I know what you’re saying and by no means am I expecting miracles from Powell or expecting him to play, was just reflecting on your “Powell needs gym work, fitness work and needs reserve football to educate him. He has to get used to the quality of being surrounded by players 100x better and experienced than him” comment and how that could have been levelled at Bebe, who did get games.

  229. WillieRedNut says:

Another thing about Alba? He only wanted Barcelona. United never had a chance of signing him. Comparing his fee to Baines possible fee is stupid. Alba had a clause in his contract, if Barca came in for him, he could go for a particular price.

  230. Zibbie says:

I can not blame the heat, drugs, or beer. I am the Looney one. Not in a criminal way just a funny fuck way!!

  233. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

I’m going to be honest about some players because my views on them was ridiculous 18 months ago.

Downing – I thought he was top notch, a very less effective version of the young Giggs but worth about £18m.

Adam – The Blackpool man looked untouchable, big fat tellytubbie with the touch of Zidane, who didn’t want that at United after what he did to us at OT on the last day for £8m ?

Henderson – We Was linked to him non-stop when was at Sunderland. I watched him 3 times and thought he was a young Gerrard with the composure of Carrick.

Jose Enrique – Shit and not United quality, let liverpool have him !

Adam Johnson – The English Robben !

Phil Jones – Who? That fat John Terry wannabe? The next big thang ? No way !

    Carrick – SELL HIM !

    How things change !

  234. james21 says:

    Wayne
Hi mate. yes Utd do pay top wages but not the £200,000+ a week that some shitty mercinaries are on.
Totally agree with you about the players needed, but some think we need a whole team. :D

  235. Zibbie says:

@Willie spot on. They use alba as a reason 16 mill for baines to much!!!!!!!!!!!!! fuck me sideways!!!

  236. Mikekelly12 says:

Case in point! Do we all believe that Ibrahimovic REALLY wants to play in Paris?! Apparently he has just upped his wage demand to €15m and PSG are yet to agree! If Bayern or Real etc came in with that figure tonight he’d be off like a shot.

SAF SAID PAY THE LAD WHAT HE IS WORTH!!!!!!!!!!!
Free agents have power, to play in warm weather VS NW England pay way less taxes and make way more. U guys just now excepting Manchester is a hard sell as a city!!! Thank God SAF can sell MUFC as the great club it is. Powell, Smalling and Jones said fuck off to the rest of the PL and said yes to MUFC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this coming season is Paddy’s last tbh, can’t see 3 bad seasons( 2010-11,11-12,12-13) going rewarded with a new contract etc or a chance to prove himself. which is why the best option would be to buy Evra’s replacement now and let him bed in and split games 60/40 with Evra like 06/07 with Heinze-Evra.

Its sad to see such a great left back like Evra decline so far downwards, he’s lost it all defensively. He had like 5 good games last season as I recall and his best was against Everton at Goodison when he got a right bollocking for our 6-1 defeat. That’s the only specific game I can recall.

    Lucas stuff

    Style of Play

Lucas has the technical, physical, and mental assets to make him a danger for any opposition. For São Paulo he usually plays as a right midfielder, although for the Brazilian Sub-20 team he played as a classic #10 at the centre of the field for most of the tournament. Wherever he is positioned though, Lucas is at his best when given free reign to roam the pitch. With incredible acceleration and pace, mixed with a surprising amount of strength and energy, Lucas is the type of player that often makes runs down the field, beating three to four players with his technical skills, before making a pass or taking a shot at goal. His physicality on the ball reminds one of a young Ronaldo (the R9 version) making runs that see him simply refuse to lose the ball. He differs from Ronaldo since he tends to play from deeper positions, which allows him more creative freedom to set up goals for teammates.

    What Others Say

Ney Franco had this to say about him after the South American Sub-20 competition (translated from Portuguese):

Lucas gives the coach the option of changing the team during the game. He can be a second forward, a centralized playmaker, a winger, or even a deep lying midfielder. He plays in direction of the goal. Lucas uses his strength a lot and finishes well too. Tactially, he is also very intelligent, and understands the game well. His decision making during matches is impressive. I think Lucas doesn’t feel the weight of wearing Brazil’s jersey.

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4426939/How-Manchester-United-could-line-up-next-season.html

Interesting line-ups. I can’t see us going 4-3-2-1 though in any game. That removes the key attribute that differentiates Untied from the rest which is width. I cannot imagine Sir Alex going into a match without two proper wingers. He may add an extra mid-fielder and remove the extra striker or vice-versa but the two wingers are going to be ever-present.

From what we’ve been discussing so far, 4-2-3-1 seems to be the way to go. Though that would make Rooney a guaranteed starter in every game. But I think that would give us a lot of flexibility. The front 4 which can be made up of Valencia, Kagawa, Rooney, Nani, Young, or Welbeck all can play in multiple positions (except Tony V). It would be great to see us go back to the days of Ronaldo-Tevez-Rooney with players switching about. And with Chicharito, we can always use him to do the job he does best, score goals. If he can work out the timing of beating the offside trap better (Mental Note: Watch a lot of RVN and Inzaghi), then together with Kagawa he could really forge a potent partnership.

I think we really can’t help but be excited about what we’ve got so far. Really, the only person we’re lacking is the terrier in mid-field. I would love for us to sign someone from outside. But maybe Sir Alex is looking for Jones to completely take over that role or maybe even give Tunnicliffe a go.

But for now, bring on pre-season.

  315. Sandeep1878 says:

    Morning you red fuckers,

Since we signed RVP 6 weeks ago why can’t that Scottish tease just unveil him already, is Gill too busy snapping candid photos of him or what?

  318. samuel - united WE stand says:

Of course powell will need gym work to build up, he’s 18 and that’s obvious but one thing he doesn’t need is “reserve football”. Surely, he didn’t make a move as a guaranteed starter at crewe in order join united youth system. He’ll play amongst first team players and will continue to improve amongst first team players which is what he needs. The idea that he won’t get games is ludicrous, no one knows if he’ll need time adjusting or will take to turning out for united with incredible ease. He’s younger player with high potential and i’m not trying to place pressure on him, he’ll get my support but one thing is for sure, football is immeasurably unpredictable and i won’t be suprised at all if powell threatens the position of the first team starters. FERGIE is one to throw them in if he believes they’re ready.

  319. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Morning sandballsdeep

I think we are done with transfers but you never know with Fergie.

    Top post mate

  321. Costas says:

    @Balaji

2 things about those linesups. Smalling at right back should be a last resort. Young instead of Nani, I can see happening. However, in a 4-5-1 formation we will need both Valencia and Nani starting if we don’t want to struggle to create openings.

  322. slim says:

gaffer says Mr Powell will be involved with the first team and that’s good enough for me.
sick of seeing talented young lads lounging on reserves.
let him mix it up with the big boys. sink or fucking swim.
we go looking for players who have had their club take considerable risk and effort in developing them and we turn round complaining about theur transfer fee when they become hot property.
SAF not ling ago, speaking about Pogba said if he doesn’t play, its mist likely he’ll leave and that’s exactly what happened.
Bulking up is a bit overrated any way.if he’s fit to play 90 mins let him get on with it. we need all the magic we can get.

  323. Costas says:

    *lineups*

  324. Sandeep1878 says:

    Giggsy12,

I m good buddy, thanks, hope the same with you.

    ###

Baines is become everyone’s talk now saying the deal has been agreed…

  325. samuel - united WE stand says:

Giggs12 – nothing worse than united buying prodigiously talented players and shafting out to the reserves. Logic will say powell needs time to adjust, of course he does but with ability and belief which powell seems to possess in abundance, we can’t rule him out showcasing his potential as soon as possible. I think he’ll get opportunities, it’s important for his growth and development.

Looking at kagawa and powell, we can see two measured and intelligent young players. They both know taking the leap from their previous clubs is one thing but performing for united is another giant step. They’re grounded and are ready to put in the work required. I hope they become huge stars for the club.

  326. samuel - united WE stand says:

Reading anderson’s interview last night, i’m really not sure what to think. Personally, after 5years, he’s had more than enough time to prove himself but FERGIE seems to have that crucial trust in him and perhaps a good player is hidden in him willing to be unlocked.

Another season dawns and another chance beckons. I have no problems with that but he needs to avoid injuries, he requires fortune on that part. In terms of fitness however, the papa johns pizzas need to be eradicated, he needs to know that becoming a quality player at united is more important than getting his belly blown up and turning into a hula hoop belly dancer. I want to see hunger, drive and improvements in several aspects of his game. He can fight for a place and judging by his comments, he badly wants to prove point. Doing that on the pitch is what most fans want to see. Again, i hope it goes well for him but he needs to remember that as much as matters beyond the realms of his powers can be detrimental, his own choices can and will be crucial.

We have players in the squad acknowledging the privilege of having a new season and an opportunity to construct their flailing potential. Macheda and anderson are players that would give me the most joy if they could step and be top players. They have it within their reach.

  327. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Costas, Agreed. Actually, I wasn’t even looking at our defense in those line-ups since they pretty much pick themselves. One thing I don’t want to see is Jones at right-back. EVER! Smalling is OK if Rafael is out which is obviously going to happen over the course of a single season. I also like Valencia at RB for bigger games with Nani ahead of him.

It really is surprising how skint we are on the fullback side. And unless we get Baines or someone else, things are going to get really tough for us on that side. The thing is we have people to cover at FB positions – Jones, Smalling, Evans, Valencia, maybe even Giggs – but again this forces people playing out of position and we lose those people where they are best played. It really is like losing two players. And that is what happened to us a lot last season. One injury led to two shifts of position and we were left wanting sometimes. I really don’t want to see that happen again.

    Morning all

    Morning shit flickers!
    Samuel
Spot on. I’m pretty sure Sir Alex said that Powell will stay in and around the first team, training etc. I think this tells us all we need to know about what Sir Alex thinks of the lad and how he’s going to progress.

Cedars – Rape shit!! Am I too late! I dreamt Kagawa scored last night!! No idea who it was against, whether it was home or away, but he scored and I went mental!!

I’ve got to hold my hands up, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this Lucas lad play, just heard the usual plaudits that you get from every brazilian youngster with talent! So can’t say I’m excited by the Daily Fails article. In fact, I think I’d sooner we didn’t get this lad. He’s already said he’s not bothered where he plays, he just wants to play football so even if he did come and was a success, he’d be packing his bags in a year or two…. steer clear in my view.

  331. Costas says:

    @Balaji

Personally I prefer Jones at right back mate. He has better forward runs compared to Smalling. Same goes for his crossing (like we saw at Sunderland and Bolton last season). Other than the Blackpool OG at the end of the 10-11 season, I don’t remember any decent Smalling crosses. :D On the other hand, Smalling at right back helps us in a different manner. We have more of an aerial presence at set pieces.

Quite frankly, I don’t want to see either player at full back, but we can’t avoid it I am afraid. Rafael won’t be fit all season. Plus, as we saw at the end of last season, Rafael could lose his spot if he makes crucial errors again.

Cheers mate, of course seen it and many times……Its on my favourites list…..Gives me a good fix as do the Robbo, Best and Edwards videos

    Mike

No you’re not late mate, you win as well! So about that dream, did you wet yourself? I know I would have

  334. Costas says:

Another thing I’d like to see this season is the Smalling-Vidic duo become our regular partnership next season. I love Rio, but it’s time to move on.

    @Cedars

    That’s the spirit.

    Morning Che cedara,

looks like you have a crush on Costas for today? ;)

    ##

    Balaji,

That is one of the best ever United videos made..

    goosebumps all the time!!

  336. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

You are my brother in arms mate, besides being Mediterranean neighbours you and I fought a bloody battle last summer against the whole blog and came out victorious with flying colours…….No one dares mess with a Greek/Lebanese combo! ha ha ha

  337. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Cedars, You really do scour Youtube for United videos, don’t you? :D That one is on my favorites list too. Amazing goosebumps each time I see it.

Costas, Yup, I prefer Smalling on the defensive end and Jones when it comes to his offense. But both have flaws which make them not preferable for the rightback position. But if we look at it that way, Tony V is arguably our best option at RB. Going forward, he will have great chemistry with our attacking players, and his immense upper body strength allows him to stop almost any offensive winger, barring someone who is really good like maybe Ronaldo. However, again that leaves a major gap in our wing department.

Unfortunately, relying on Rafael to complete a season uninjured is always going to leave us in these situations.

  338. CedarsDevil says:

    Balaji

Oh I do my friend, especially for the three I mentioned….Posted most of them here as well.

    Sandy Baby

Ha ha ha…..Not so much a crush mate but more of a close bond if you catch my drift. Only man crush I ever had was for two United players, Robbo and Ole!!

  339. Costas says:

    @Cedars

Haha, isn’t that the truth? Don’t you miss those days though? Fergie would come out saying that we were done with our summer spending and then the Fly would claim that it was all a smokescreen and Sneijder would undergo his medical the following day.

  340. samuel - united WE stand says:

Big season for rafael. I’m hoping he steers clear off injuries because he’s a class act and a little battling terrier. His all action marauding runs forward typifies the brazilian in him. I hope he has and will continue to improve defensively, he can be prone to a lapse in concentration and can be too eager with his challenges but that happens to younger players. Rafael has gathere crucial experience both in the league and europe and i hope he’ll use that to his advantage and become a top player for united. I think he’ll be the nailed on first choice in that position this season. The fact mano menezes will pick him as his first choice for brazil in the olympics says it all.

MikeKelly – exactly, united need to continue to do everything to improve younger players. Training, learning and playing in matches with first team players will help the likes of nick powell.

  341. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

Oh yes the Fly, how can I put mildly? Ok here it goes, he was just full of shit! Bugger kept giving us confirmed dates as well!! Funny thing is that some here actually bought into his bull shit
