I love getting proved wrong, I thought a score draw was the most we could get from this game.

Despite being out on the piss I spent the whole evenig on my mobile looking at what was going on in the United game!

  2. Alex says:

    OBERTAN!

What a star. I think we are doing the right thing with him; giving him the odd minute here-and-there to shine.

I hope we don’t build him up too much but I love watching him play. Perhaps this is why we have decided not to buy Ljajic?

As for Mickey – keep banging them in mate! He must start with Rooney against Villa on Saturday.

  3. MikeyGrist says:

Obertan looks freaking tastey – nice to see Owen score even if he did look sluggish.

Did you see our physio got injured?

  4. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

All hail one of europes second best goal scorers , tevez you wally . Not good enough for hull thou. Fuck league form and possition Phil brown should be sacked in the morning for thinking not signing Owen for fuckin nothing was the right thing to do

  5. rooninho says:

    go mickey-o!!! i love it!

  6. petedDUB says:

dFUCKINGlighted shut up a lot of tossers in my local,an excellent hat trick.

  7. mambo jambo says:

MICKY! His 3rd goal was sheer brilliance!

  8. THIS_IS_MANCHESTER says:

‘Gotta hate tiny tears’ to be fair Phil Brown wanted to sign Owen but once United came knocking Hull didnt really stand much of a chance – in fact i think Owen was close to joining them but SAF called Owen and had lunch with the lad and the rest was as they say history.

Obertan what can i say? that was a brilliant piece of skill!

  9. Its in my blood says:

Guys, the Sun player ratings have given Evra, Fletch, Anderson and Scholes a 6! Wankers. What fucking game did they watch?
Superb performance, masterful tactics from SAF!

  10. Its in my blood says:

    Sorry, Anderson got a 5, Carrick 6!

  11. Always Be Closing says:

Insane they’d score them so low – great team performance, Owen was stonkingly on form considering how few touches he needed for a hat-trick, Obertan I may well fall in love with, I could watch the guy all day. /end gayness

  12. Tony Starks says:

come on people – who actually cares what ratings the Sun gave!

  13. Rob the Red says:

Fantastic result for the lads tonight! Obertan has certainly got what it takes and if he keeps his feet on the ground the future is bright for him. PIG is doing well too his main advantage over Foster is on the deck when the ball is passed to him, Foster really gives me heart attacks. Forwards have wised up to this now and chase him down hard whenever he is about to recieve the ball, shame! Great lateral thinking by Fergie tonight by playing three at the back, the man, like Darren Fletcher is a football genius. Who else would of thought of that plan in a crisis? I too would like to see Owen start against Villa, BUT his problems have always started when he plays weekends and midweek aswell. My guess is that unless we are really desperate he will be back on the bench to make an impact if needed.

  14. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

I was under the impression hull pulled out and sir Alex swooped in

  15. Tony Starks says:

Nah – Phil Brown even said it was a great achievement for Hull just to be in the race to sign Owen – not really sure what you achieve by not being able to sign someone!

  16. THIS_IS_MANCHESTER says:

Tony Starks true you usually think its a achievement to actually get the player, but if you think about where Hull were just 10 years ago compared to now and how they have the remote ability to attract a player of Owens class its got to be a achievement just to be in the race (so to speak)

  17. Rob the Red says:

Tony Starks: Me neither! I thought it a rather odd comment at the time.

  18. Rob the Red says:

Is Sporting index anything to do with leeds united?

  19. jellybean says:

anybody else think the FSW’s contemplating suicide over his decision not to sign owen? :P

  20. United4eva says:

How must Rafa feel now having ignored the chance to pick Owen up on a freebie? Really looked passed his best tonight didn’t he? A hat trick in what 4 good chances?

Best thing to come out of tonight: Liverpool lose 2 players and they get knocked out of the Champions League, United lose half their side and win 3-1.

As the song goes: Thats why we’re champions.

  21. Rob the Red says:

No, he is so arrogant and pig headed he still thinks he made the right decision!

  22. manchuchu says:

    O Micky you so fine
    Making Scousers fuckin cry
hey micky *clap clap* *clap clap*
Hey micky *clap clap* *clap clap*

  23. Jack says:

    manchuchu lol class

  24. Big Bad Wesley Brown says:

The English press seem to have made their minds up that Anderson is crap. No matter how well he plays, he only ever gets a 5 or 6 in the papers.

  25. Joseph says:

Love how Scott added in the ‘German Champions’ part haha.

  26. whitefieldred says:

    Jingle Bells
    Jingle Bells

I’m considering voting for Torres just so Liverpool can win something!

  28. Doghouse says:

I wouldn’t highly rate what journalists say at all (and I say this as a journalist, though in a different field). They write a fairly generic report, safe scores to keep the editor happy, job done. They don’t usually have time to give the game and the ratings the thought required for their opinion of them to be worth more than anybody else who watched it. To really rate the players you’d need to watch the whole match a couple of times, talk it through with somebody else, then write it up, but they don’t have time for that so they throw together any old shit.

  29. Emmanu Daktari. says:

Fantastc work by owen…briliant pass by obertan..x-mas is here,.we could b at the top of the table by monday if we beat villa n a chelsea side wthout Terry n Essien is beaten by Everton.,.GLORY GLORY GLORY MAN UTD….

  30. DebRed says:

Some one did say in this blog yesterday that Owen will score a hat trick in this game, want to ask that guy how the new year will be for me, he is a Nostradamus!!!
What a result, hopefully this is the start of Owens season, now we will see more goals from him.
Now we just need to put it across Villa in the weekend.

  31. bobkoh says:

Mickey’s goals for ManU embarrass the FSW to no end. He was there for the taking, I mean signing, & L’pool missed out on the CL because they did not sign Mickey, I firmly believe. Just you wait, if L’pool wins the Europa League, the FSW will say it is because they did not sign Mickey! Ha, Ha!

  32. jeet says:

Jesus Christ – what did I miss???!!! Had to get up early today (im in India with delayed telecast), and am kicking myself…Shitt..can someone please tell me when’s the repeat telecast in India (we do get MUTV here)

Happy I predicted that we would win, though – smile…just love it with MO…I think he is destined to become a legend…we have a saying here that when you tryly truly want something from the bottom of your heart, the whole universe conspires to give it to you…think of the Mancity match and think of the freak injury list leading to Owen getting a start, and one starts believing in the power of destiny…

Lastly, I dont think we need Dzeko…he’s big and strong, but frankly, I dont rate him…either we spend huge amounts on somebody like the 2 Davids or Nilmar…otherwise we say fuckit, we’re gonna have a go with what we have…

If Fergie hasn’t lost his brimstone, he is probably going to take Option 2…at least by the end of the season, he will know exactly where the squad stands, who to persevere with and who to farm out (apart from winning the PL, and doing at least very well in the Cl, taht is…)

God, I feel so proud of the team…

  33. jeet says:

PS: The video just seems to have the first goal…can somebody post a link to the other goals, or am I missing something here…plsss respond…i’ll die of not seeing these soon enough…

  34. afromanc says:

Great performance from all the boys…Ando and scholsey controlled things really well nani had a decent game, obertan is just such a pleasure to watch, he’s not the new ronaldo, he’s Obertan and he’s brilliant!!!And of course M07…Such a predator! Great stuff!!!!
    C’MON YOU REDS!

The away support was awesome yesterday.

  37. 7 the king 7 says:

Look at the play from obertan for uniteds third!!! ARE YOU WATCHING MERSEYSIDE!!

  38. jespermoses says:

I’m chuffed for Owen because he’s kept his mouth shut and gone about his business will humility.

Obertan is looking some player and I think SAF has found a gem there…..that boy has got some skills!

  39. Long John O'Shea says:

Morning chaps, What do you think of this Sol Campbell story? itt seems to be everywhere today……

  40. SqueakyRed says:

Really pleased for Owen. Hope he gets to start at the weekend.
Handles the interview well too… http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5760183,00.html

  41. aig alex is god says:

full game highlights 15 min, for those like me who missed it….the first united game in the season that i didnt watch and Mickey scored a hattrick ;)

  43. hurr says:

Poor Nani. Assisted the first goal and then Obertan came on and took all the glory from him.

  44. Fze123 says:

Nani’s cross was brilliant. Obertan’s skill was magnificent. Owen was due a few goals, he misses half-chances repeatedly but it doesn’t knock his confidence.

    @ manchuchu, love that chant.

  45. Macedonia_United says:

cos i didnt watch it can anyone tell me who was better defender , carick or fletcher?

  46. Glenn Hoddle says:

Fletcher made more tackles but Carrick made more clearances. They were both brilliant, as was Evra.

United played a 3-5-2 with a central defence of Fletch, Carrick and Evra. Scholes provided another midfield masterclass.

    Kuszczak;
    Fletcher, Carrick, Evra;
    Park, Gibson, Scholes, Anderson, Nani;
    Owen, Welbeck.

  47. mufcdevils says:

Mickey was a free transfer, and he is doing so much better than that shit bag tevez who scored 4 PL goals last year. Once a scouser, now a red..good work owen

  48. MeRCuRiAlTiEmPo17 says:

    We had joy,
    We had fun,
    Watching Gabriel Obertan,
With his pace and quick feet,
And his name on the score sheet!

  49. Rob the Red says:

Macedonia: Thanks for the link earlier

  50. Eric AKA Super Schmeichel says:

    @mufcdevils so true

  51. artz says:

the combination of obertern n mikey was off the roof. we might be doing badly at the back but we r scoring highly to compesate.Mikey is back.

  52. bobby says:

Good win, and without 14 players. Owen has been a delight, very professional player and delivers when he gets the chance ( game winner against City a true gem ) However I think it was the correct decision from Rafa not to sign him. I mean he has Voronin!!! I doubt he could score in the red district in Amesterdam
