Nani who has a dream and it’s becoming polemic but only God knows, that Nani?

  2. Albert Ross says:

Excellent goal Nani. Not particularly powerful, yet unstoppable.
Simple, accurate, cleanly struck, great composure.

Keep it up Nani, goals galore at the Euros can only increase your value. A good run this summer, followed by your best year in the Premiership, will bring you into contention for the individual recognition you crave and deserve.

And, amazingly, some people want to sell this guy ! UTD’s most skillful player.

  6. RedScot says:

Well done Nani a striking drive ! .I personally just hope he can recapture his great form of season 2010/11 and chip with a good return of goals and assists .Its quite sad for him and Portugal , getting through to the Euro finals courtesy of the play offs by beating that European powerhouse of football Bosnia – Hertzegovina. To be drawn in the ‘group of death ‘ featuring Holland, Germany and Euro winners of 1992 Denmark.
With the youngest manager in the European competition this summer Paulo Bento at the helm , once identified as a possible candidate to assist Sir Alex , when the previous Portugal team manager , left Old Trafford to manage Real Madrid .Carlos Queiroz.
They have their work cut out for them in Poland and the Ukraine , kicking of with Germany and i think flying back to Portugal after Holland finish them of on June 17th.
Unless Cristiano Ronaldo brings his top game to the fore. Its curtains for Portugal .

Was gonna put a tenner on Turkey winning at 25/1, ended up putting a fiver on when they were 2-0 up and still 2/1 to win :(

  10. Gee says:

Hope he does stay but wont be too upset if he leaves, has the potential to be a great but seems to piss about when he gets up to the top level and loses form.

Off topic: Watched England to have a close look at Hazard and have to say wasn’t massively impressed with what I saw considering the numbers being banded about. Yet today it seems the papers are making the guy out to be almost like Pele and saying Chelski have this top talent on their hands and he will tear the league apart. If he had signed for us whats the betting they would have given a true reflection of his performance, ‘he was okay, passed well, worked hard and did create chances but I dont see Premier league defenders having sleepless nights’ the media are shite!!

Its funny people would let Nani go, but fail to mention a replacement? And the cost as well.

Laters lads, being asked to lend my ‘pearls of wisdom’ elsewhere. :)

  18. Toms says:

Nani adds a little something special to every team he’s in. Goal and some flair.

  19. LoneStarRed says:

Are you sure that’s Nani? He went DIRECTLY at goal, no meandering. :)

  20. LoneStarRed says:

@Gee 15:01 regarding Hazard. I saw flashes of brilliance from Hazard. My take on him right now is that he is used to a system, at Lille, that caters to him. He was the hub and others were secondary. His movement without the ball was not in sync with his Belgian teammates. He was not in the places he should have been for seamless linkup with his countrymen. Watching Kagawa in Dortmund Vs. Gladbach was a VERY different story. He looks to complement his team’s movements.

I think we got the better team player with VERY comparable skills. Once again SAF does it right.

  21. denton davey says:

LoneStarRed @ 17:22 – I’m in total agreement with you on this Hazard/Kagawa issue.

I remember some time ago that SAF said that he wants players who are “right for our team” and that these guys are not necessarily the best players in terms of individual skills. Over the past few years, UTD have been short-handed in big matches when DarrenFletcherinho has been missing but no one (no one !) would claim that he was “the best player” but, rather, he was one of the most important components of the team.

I’ve seen KagawaBunga in action on a number of occasions and what’s impressive about his game is his combination of vision. one-touch control, and complete calm in tight situations. To me, he’s an awful-lot like TheGingerNinja of ten/twelve years ago when he was in him pomp as an attacking midfielder. Comparisons are always invidious but, there, I’ve said it.

What I think that KagawaBunga will bring to UTD is a partner for TheWayneBoy in linking possession with attack. I wrote the other day that I foresee a situation in which the first-choice formation will have these two guys ahead of Michael Carrick, linking up with a front three – chosen from the five of Ashley Young, Chicharito, DannyTheLad, Nani, and Antonio Valencia. Not one of those five is a complete player – Young and Valencia are too one-footed, Nani doesn’t seem to want to play a quick one-two, Chicharito’s ball control could be better and DannyTheLad is still a work-in-progress but I think that each and every one of those five can add something to an attack that will be more like the 2007/8 “whirligig” in which CR7, TheWayneBoy, and Carlitos gave defenders fits as they interchanged.

The other issue that the KagawaBunga signing brings to the fore has to be the futures of both YoungTom and Anderson – does SAF think that either/both of these guys are good but just not quite good enough ? Or is he simply fed up with their injury issues ?? On their day, either one has the skill and forward drive to play the role partnering TheWayneBoy in some kind of 4-1-2-3 formation but the fact that SAF seems to have made a new signing in this role a priority seems to indicate that he’s not convinced by them. Good depth, though. AND what about Davide Petrucci – he seems to have a similar skill-set ?
