    I wish he can score more goals like this for United next season…

  2. Nafis says:

    great composure, great finish. Congrats to South Korea for the first win of WC 10

  3. Kings says:

    Played well today and took his goal very well. Pleased for the boy – like seeing our boys do well in major tournaments.

  4. RedScot says:

    Absoloute Wee cracker.
    I betcha Costas is choking on his Dolmadakia yiaprakia lol

  5. united.george says:

    Park’s new haircut has made him even faster:)

    What a great finish too…

  6. theboogeyman says:

    Blocked already by FIFA, Scott.

  7. Schmuck says:

    I’m proud to be Asian :)

  8. kaihnsn says:

    shit…i almost cried when park score. really well taken goal by him. hope korea will progress to 2nd round.

  9. Fze123 says:

    SK played very well today. Great finish by Park. The first United player to score in the WC – he did us proud. Hopefully there’s more to come.

  10. Ash says:

    Good goal.PARK=CLASS

  11. Costas says:

    The best thing about this goal is Park’s instinct to pounce on the mistake. There’s more to Park than just being a wide player obviously. Showed that against Milan and Liverpool. Kudos to him and South Korea. We didn’t deserve any better today.

    @RedScot

    Lol, I don’t like dolmadakia at all. Nice one though. ;)

  12. Paul H says:

    Typically well taken goal from Park and well done to the Koreans. Massively important victory, as In this group, the losers of the first fixture were always going to be on the plane home next week. In keeping with recent traditions, I wonder if the Greek squad will be “carried” by Lufthansa?

    Greece’s world cup hopes are now looking much like it’s economic prospects. How depressing. And they shouldn’t blame their German manager either – any more than one German bail-out in the space of a month is frankly just being greedy!

    Right, off to demonstrate some more of my finely honed diplomatic skills, by winding up some Americans up now before this afternoon’s main Soccer event. I can see it now “you know the World Cup, Coupe de Monde?..no..it’s a little bit like your world series chaps, except in this case it’s actually involves teams from more than one country….no I’m not joking…”

    Yiamas for now ;)

  13. Aig alex is god says:

    Danny shittu.apt name for a player like him.watch him mark messi out of the game.

  14. milkywei says:

    I’m in South Korea right now and all the people here went crazy !!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Costas says:

    For those who don’t know, the defender that made the error for the Park goal, has the reputation of being Greece’s Frank Sinclair. He made old Frank proud today. :D

    @Paul H

    Don’t worry, no one is blaming Rehhagel. At least he has won a major trophy for the country he manages.

  16. willierednut says:

    AIG – You’re dreaming.

  17. Costas says:

    It will be interesting to see how Messi performs today. There has been some talk this week about the amount of games he has played this season and how burned out he is.

  18. willierednut says:

    Right, i’m gonna watch Higuain with an open mind, should be a test for the argies.

  19. Giles Oakley says:

    Lovely goal, a real treat to get the WC up and running. Park’s really improved in composure and goalscoring, adding to his always tremendous work ethic and team spirit. It’s a measure of the development in his game that I never for one moment doubted that he was going to score. He always comes across as very modest and grounded, despite his status as a national hero and superstar at home. One of the good guys in football. Hope he goes all the way to the Final to meet Wazza.

  20. Aig alex is god says:

    @willie

    i am not.that name itself should terrify messi ;-)

  21. willierednut says:

    What a miss from Higuain, not a good start.

  22. willierednut says:

    1 0, an old United 1 2 lol.

  23. TheRadLegion says:

    Hey why is Silverster Stalone not on the field? He would have buried the chance that Higuain missed

  24. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    Love park can’t stand to watch the argies

  25. Ash says:

    Have to say guys messi is in great form.He is so fast and has excellent ball control.Football at its best.

  26. Aig alex is god says:

    @ash

    he is not the best in the world for no reason mate.

  27. TheRadLegion says:

    Again, Higuain missed the chance.. Milito would score from that range

  28. Ash says:

    @aig
    He is one of the best.I still dont know whether cristiano is better or messi is.Anyways its always a treat to watch such footballers play.

  29. Aig alex is god says:

    Milito has missed a few sitters for inter too and he got injured after the final in may so he isnt fully fit

  30. Aig alex is god says:

    @ash

    that one is up for debate but i would go with messi.

  31. Ash says:

    @aig
    Mate dont be surprised if rooney steals the show in this world cup.I really want him to score many goals.

  32. Costas says:

    @TheRadLegion

    Lol, I was also thinking that Milito looks like a younger Sly. he should have started instead of Tevez!

  33. Lung420 says:

    i want england to win the world cup…but only cuz i wana see rooney drag them though it!!!

  34. YesRed says:

    Blocked on my PC. Typical FIFA.

  35. Aig alex is god says:

    @ash

    we all want that too happen

  36. Aig alex is god says:

    Di maria has been anonymous

  37. Ash says:

    @aig
    Dont say all some of the fans here want every united players to get injured.They think that they are the ones who support united most.Anyways dont want any piece of argument.
    Seriously was looking to see di maria but he is not to be seen.like u said anonymous.

  38. sprite says:

    di maria is very overrated..

  39. Schmuck says:

    I though Milito look like Al Pacino. He doesn’t have Sly’s body. hahahah

  40. Moscow is my heaven says:

    I struggle to recognise any justification of the £40 million price tag slapped on Di Maria. Once again, he should just stay in his comfortable Portuguese league just like Suarez should stay in Holland, whipping up some hype and with every passing season getting labelled ‘world class’. A lot of people say we should buy players before the World Cup, but I disagree to the extent that the overhyped players get shown up on the biggest stage and thus prevent us from signing any expensive flops.

  41. united.george says:

    Costas – What is the mood in Greece following the loss?

    They only started to play after Charisteas and Samaras were subbed.

    …and what do you mean you dont like dolmadakia?? lol

  42. willierednut says:

    Moscow is my heaven – I believe Sir Alex has about 40 million to spend, not the reported 95 million that Gill says he has. I don’t see the boss blowing the 40 million on one player, maybe on two 20 million rated players, just my opinion of course.

  43. Moscow is my heaven says:

    Costas

    Maybe Karagounis is what United lack in midfield?

  44. willierednut says:

    AIG – You said Higuain was quick? not the player i’m watching. Looks more of a poacher to me.

  45. Aig alex is god says:

    Got to love el diego. The man has a presence

  46. Aig alex is god says:

    @willie

    i have seen him and ronnie being lethal on the break. He is quick

  47. Costas says:

    @united.george

    The mood isn’t all that great. Mainly because it was our first WC game after the 94 tournament and we are still goaless and winless at the World Cup. Charisteas should have never started imo and I don’t understand why Ninis was never brought on. Samaras is one of our most talented players, but he may be too soft at times. The main problem is that Liverpool’s Kyrgiakos didn’t start today. He could have done better with the first goal.

    Dolmadakia is not one of my favorite Greek foods. When I watch it on the plate it turns me off, lol.

  48. Rai says:

    If we do get anyone, do you all reckon it’ll be after the World Cup ends or do you think the deals will already be in place? I can see the Joe Cole one already been wrapped up, that would still give us a good 30-40 million to spend on a quality striker….that’ll be enough to overtake Chelsea next season (injuries permitting)

  49. Costas says:

    @Moscow is my heaven

    Ha! Maybe 5 years ago when he was still in his prime. Not very talented, but a very hard worker. He has actually scored at OT in the Ch.League.

  50. willierednut says:

    Rai – Can’t see us buying a striker, unless Berba goes.

  51. willierednut says:

    Higuain should have had a hat – trick.

  52. Rai says:

    Willie –
    you think he’ll just go for an attacking midfielder?

  53. Aig alex is god says:

    Veron should come off.embarassing himself.his passing is shocking

  54. willierednut says:

    Rai – Possible mate, i won’t second guess the boss. @ AIG Your man up front should come off, he’s missed a bucket full.

  55. Moscow is my heaven says:

    willierednut

    Is Berbatov even a striker? I thought he was a creative genius in CAM linking the midfield with attack ;)

  56. willierednut says:

    Moscow – He’s somewhere in between lol.

  57. Aig alex is god says:

    @willie

    he has but i stand by what i said.he is a quality striker.one game of missed chances dosent make him a bad striker

  58. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    I don’t know of I’m happy with this, I hears great stuff about maxi before he went to the dippers, I do be impressed with him in the blue and white, he’s not gonna take over the world but he’s good. Isaxi in the babel boat as in , could be alot better if rafa was alot better at being a manager

  59. Costas says:

    Even though he is an Argie twat of the highest order, I have to say that it was a cracking header by Heinze. This win probably means that Argentina will get the top spot in the group.

  60. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    Is tevez crap so they put him in midfield or is tevez shit because they put him in midfield.

    What maradonna does be doing sometimes is befuddling put they one one nil gr a goal that must have come straight from his training ground so credit where credits due

  61. Moscow is my heaven says:

    Higuain is a world class striker, poor game by his standards, but he is the type of striker that we need. Pace, strength, experienced but still young, and a clinical finisher, he was what we needed against the Burnleys and Blackburns of last season. Big games get you 3 points, ‘small games’ get you 3 points, so he might be a flat track bully, but a striker like him would comfortably win us the league next season. Shame we can’t get him though, he’s penned a new contract with the fascists.

  62. Rooney22United says:

    somehow i can never feel the same adrenaline, excitement watching the World Cup as I get with watching my beloved United. Strange much? =D

  63. Moscow is my heaven says:

    If Berbatov isn’t sold, then we should give someone else the No 9 shirt. Berba could be given No 20. I’m worried that Nani might crack if we give him No 7.

  64. Aig alex is god says:

    Though carlitos was ok today. Decent game

  65. Ash says:

    @moscow
    Mate nani is better in number 17 shirt.No need to change his shirts number.Seriously speaking i would misss nani in the tournament.Could have done wonders with ron.

  66. dela says:

    I just came to know that Park is now one of the few players to have scored in 3 successive World Cup finals. Knowing that he still is only 29, he could easily pop in another at Brazil 2014.

  67. Praveen says:

    Has England line-up announced?

  68. willierednut says:

    People keep saying Higuain has pace, i didn’t see it today. Also, i’m still not convinced by him, think he would really struggle in the premier league, but i’ll keep an open mind on him, see if he can change my thinking. Come on wazza, prove to all the doubters, what us United fans already know, that you’re a star.

  69. dela says:

    @Ash
    I agree with Moscow on Nani getting the No.7 jersey. We all know he has the ability- all he needs is to be a little more consistent, and that could come from the confidence that the No.7 jersey will give him. Plus Michael Owen is injured half the time and has done little this season apart from that unforgettable goal against Citeh.

  70. MG says:

    One of my friends said

    “ready for the football?”

    I said:

    I’m on holiday – it doesn’t kick off till August : )”

    The whole street where I live has put up England flags

    duly noted this so I put up a United flag up

    Sounds about right then

    Relentless United march – we will never stop

    Ji’s goal was as much loved and appreciated in my house as was watching Chicharito and Evra last night.

  71. dela says:

    Off topic, but another player has rejected Citeh: http://www.goal.com/en/news/12/spain/2010/06/12/1972717/david-silva-tells-manchester-city-he-will-not-join-them-as

    There are some things money can’t buy.

  72. Moscow is my heaven says:

    @dela

    I think ROM needs a roll of honour on its homepage for the players that have rejected Shitty, on the basis that they are not MASSIVE enough :)

  73. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    I taught veron did a fantastic job today , taught tevez was kack and maxi was good

  74. Ash says:

    @dela
    I am not doubting nanis ability.I rate nani very much but i think #17 suits him more.Like #18 means scholes i think in future #17 means nani.Yeah nani deserves #7 without a doubt.But i would prefer him in 17.

  75. Rai says:

    @ MG – Hope everything is ok from the other day mate and your lad is feeling better.

    On Veron, I think he’s a
    cracking player, if he played in today’s team at United
    I think he would fair better. Looking back, obviously it’s easier to say now, but Pavel Nedved would have been awesome at United. He’s one of my all time favourite players.

  76. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    Hands up by all the retards on here that wanted to pay 25million for suarez. If United fans think signing that left bolock of a forward is the answers to which ever problem they believ we have then we may as well sell Vidic and Rooney and service the debt with the cash. He was shite last night. Oh and who here thought a 20million bid for Gourcoff was reasonable. These players look so much better on MS Fifa Pro Football 2010 for the fucking XBox. All I can say so far is the world cup has got off to a slow start. Mexico dominated but the coach got the tactics wrong, I would have played Hernandez first then brought on Blanco after the defenders were run to buggery. South Africa looked like they could grap a few goals on the break. France looked like the players were dreaming about the minors locked up in their hotel rooms. Uraguay looked dangerous but lightweight. Didn’t see the S.Korea Greece match and wished i did now. Argentina showed once again that world class strikers can missfire and their defence is a joke. Nigeria were unlucky, with better composure they may of had 1or 2 more shots on goal, but they do have a swedish coach so they wont be doing anything. Soons its England USA, Im going down the pub to watch the match and on the way home Ill get stabbed by a load of Muzzies. Theyve been promising trouble all week, you see the English in Sweden are out numbered by ill informed angries from the middle east. Nice knowing you all, bye.

  77. willierednut says:

    GHTT – I thought Veron done ok, Tevez is Tevez, runs about like a blue arsed fly. My old mans waiting on England for a 10er treble.

  78. Aig alex is god says:

    Green,johnson,terry,king,cole,lennon,gerrard,lampard,milner,heskey,rooney

  79. 17's The New 7 says:

    Kudos to JS, great goal. Do you reckon Madrid will now go for that Nigerian goalie Enyeama after he shafted El Messias time and again?

  80. Ash says:

    @aig
    Thanks for the line up.Not a bad line up.England to win today.

  81. Aig alex is god says:

    @ash

    welcome mate.not supporting england for the tournament but for today i want england to win

  82. willierednut says:

    Barry injured and Carrick still can’t get a game.

  83. Aig alex is god says:

    @willie

    thats how poor he has been.cant get why he was selected in the first place.

  84. Rai says:

    Carrick is a better player than Barry

  85. Aig alex is god says:

    But barry is a better player for england

  86. willierednut says:

    Rai – Carrick is better than Barry, just had a poor last few months.

  87. Ash says:

    I cant understand how heskey is picked.He doesnt score goals or is fast.Will be the weak link for england.

  88. ashhotjet90 says:

    Its so pissing off , apparently Messi showed his genius today , he clearly didn’t have a great game , if Ronaldo had done this , he would have been labelled a flop , its bullshit .

  89. Its in my blood says:

    @Goatina…..

    If you go round calling them “Muzzies” it’s small wonder they wanna do you in!

  90. TheRadLegion says:

    Torres is the player to watch, he’s on the bench but I like how he plays

  91. Fze123 says:

    @ GoatinaUnitedShirt, in Hernandez’s very short 15 minute cameo, he was more lively, hard working and overall involved, contrary to what I have seen of Di Maria’s full 90 minutes and Suarez’s 70 minutes, hot prospects we’re constantly linked with. I have seen Di Maria play fantastically for Benfica, but for Argentina he’s invisible. Suarez was absolutely rubbish yesterday. It’s too early to say they’re overrated or rubbish though as there are plenty of games left, but considering the fact they have ridiculously high price tags and will be under massive pressure to perform, well, we’ll see how they’ll do.

  92. Fze123 says:

    @ Rai, Nedved, fucking love him. One of my favourite players too.

    Higuain was very disappointing today. Nigeria should have equalised; fluffed way too many chances. It seems like Carrick will mainly be used as a sub in this tournament. It’s a shame because he needs to play games. Hopefully Rooney will keep the trend and score – a Utd player and an ex-Utd player have already scored today. :)

  93. RedScot says:

    Come on THE USA. lol. Not that we Scots are anti English or nuffin.

    A Scotsman walking through a field, see’s a man drinking water from a pool with his hand.
    The Scotsman shouts “Awa ye feel hoor thatos oa coo’s sharn”
    (Dont drink the water, its full of Cows shite)
    The man shouts back “I’m English, speak English, I dont understand you”
    The Scotsman shouts back “use both hands, you’ll get more in”.

    Seriously hope England do well, If they dont win tonight,I predict they will finish 2nd but in the next round,They will get put out of the Tournament, by Serbia.
    Thanks Costas , my sympathys are with you.

  94. Costas says:

    Carrick’s last decent game was his cameo for England against Egypt. In that sense, I can see why he is in South Africa. But I am not surprised to see Milner get the nod over him. Come on Rooney…

  95. Costas says:

    @RedScot

    Thanks mate. Nice joke, lol.

  96. RedScot says:

    @Costas, cheers buddie, thats just me, laughing all the time. Enjoy the ” Soccer ” match.
    Singing to the Stars and Stripes. lol

  97. RedScot says:

    beautifully laid on bye heskey. great start

  98. aig alex is god says:

    Stevie me. Cmmon England!!!! . What a cool finish

  99. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    maybe you can help me out but when greece dont have enough energy in midfield due to aging players why did they go with both gekas and samaras rather than only one up front?. that puzzled because South Korea are a side with a lot of energy

  100. TheRadLegion says:

    Great! Heskey can you do something other than making people injured?

  101. RedScot says:

    Jaysus England are playing real good.
    USA I think are stronger in Midfield, and a few unfortunate misses at England goal.
    Heskey unusually playing excellent.
    Cornetto having anxiety attacks on the sideline, great too see, that enthusiasm.

  102. vidic will get ya 15 says:

    usa usa usa, better team at the moment

  103. RedScot says:

    Englands Achilles heel strikes. as I said

  104. asite says:

    south korea played brilliantly well 2day though i cant say the same about my country NIGERIA. the goal was superb and it only reminded me of manchester united premier league matches.
    i wish england well too

  105. TheRadLegion says:

    What a howler that was :( But one can’t deny US is a better team so far

  106. RedScot says:

    The Rad legion, thats a tad unfair mate, England had played great up to that point.
    But as you say a howler from Green, thats Englands main weakness, no top World class goalkeeper.

  107. Slim says:

    England look disjointed, Ha green is a right old mug

  108. aig alex is god says:

    England are missing Barry.

  109. Rai says:

    Green will get slaughtered for this now, he’ll be hated by his own Ingerland fans, glad I’m
    not apart of that fickle mob…

  110. vidic will get ya 15 says:

    wayhey, englands number1, reminds me of being at upton park,

  111. RedScot says:

    England are missing the likes of Adam Johnson, although in fairness the work from there backs Cole and Glen Johnson as been top class Brazil like play.

  112. aig alex is god says:

    @The RadLegion

    Wont say USA were better, probably was an even game. Lets not forget USA are a good side, no mugs now.

  113. TheRadLegion says:

    @RedScot:
    I think US was more composed than England to be honest and I’m still torn between the two. Don’t know who I have to support. For whatever reason England just did not look good at all. Miler has been a suspect since the kick off, SWF did not do much either. But than again no service to Rooney to be found so far. Heskey apart of the early assist to Gerrard, he did not do much either (apart of injuring Howard).

    I’ve never been sold on Green to be honest. I’d rather see James as the goalie instead.

    So far so good for the US, lucky goal indeed but I like how they keep the composure. The only thing they need to do is to get either Gomez/Buddle in for the useless Altidore and maybe bring in Torres too.

  114. Costas says:

    Robert Green, lol. I wouldn’t be surprised if Heskey cracked a couple of Howard’s ribs. Ouch.

    @AIG

    The system is supposed to be a 4-3-3. 2 of the center midfielders, Katsouranis and Karagounis, can’t play this system anymore. And today Tziolis was drafted in to play there, but he is more like Carrick than Essien. But it’s not just about the system. Charisteas and Samaras track back often, turning the system into 4-5-1. Simply put, we have no workshorses at all mate. The player who came on at half time, Patsatzoglou, is a better DM and maybe he should have started the game.

    What really didn’t help matters is that we didn’t start with Kyrgiakos who is our best defender. With him in there we wouldn’t have conceded the first goal.

  115. asite says:

    @ash
    i bet u watched our match, he was totally unstoppable

  116. Costas says:

    I don’t understand why SWP came on to be honest. Then again, I don’t understand why he is South Africa now anyway.

  117. RedScot says:

    @ The Rad Legion I have no favourites on the park(team) either, totally impartial here.
    Agreed the service to Wayne has been non existent.
    Milner I think got pulled because of the yellow card. but very quiet.
    I disagree totally about Emule Heskey, he has probably been Englands best forward player that half.
    Totally Spot on the States, never looked rattled or concerned, and had confidence they would get something back, now thats the worry for England second half.
    LOL at Altidore, but correct.
    Cmon England.

  118. Fze123 says:

    Just how did Milner start ahead of Joe Cole, a player who links best with Rooney. Laughable mistake by Green; could prove to be very, very costly.

  119. RedScot says:

    oopssie Emule strikes again, bad miss, shocking infact. UP the Villa.

  120. Rai says:

    @ Costas

    SWP – OVERATED

  121. RedScot says:

    Carragher just a fucking thug, thats not a missed time tackle, just butchery

  122. RedScot says:

    This is probably the, no defintely the best game of the tournament so far, its fast its exciting.
    Like two heavyweights slugging it out, brilliant , I like. lol

  123. RedScot says:

    There they go God save the Queen, the only queen i know, is round in the next village, and he likes to keep that to himself.

  124. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    The reason why greece won euro 2004 was because they played a very compact formation and concentrated on set pieces which worked. todays team selection puzzled me. Thanks for the explanation. i too felt kyriagos should have started

  125. RedScot says:

    England are knocking at the door, who is gonna make themselves a Star*.
    I know who I want to kick it fucking down, but thats just being partisan.

  126. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    Breaking news english keeper just tried 2 commit suside. He jumped in front of a car. But it went under his legs.

  127. RedScot says:

    @Ghtt, lmao.

  128. aig alex is god says:

    Unlucky england. played much better 2nd half. deserved the win. rooney was fantastic in the 2nd half. was everywhere. cant understand why USA player have to shit on the pitch and then come off. cant they do it faster?.

  129. TheRadLegion says:

    I honestly feel bad for Rooney. The english media should stop adding pressure on him. He’s one of the best strikers in the world, there’s no doubt about it.. but he can’t do it alone. The service has been put to the minimum and I’m afraid when it did not go the England way, the scapegoat will be none other than Rooney.

  130. aig alex is god says:

    @TheRadLegion

    no. tomorrow it will be green, not rooney.

  131. Costas says:

    A good game tonight and I feel that the US, just for their discipline and their energy deserved the point. I know that the tabloids will point at Green, but Heskey fluffing his chance was equally pivotal.

    @AIG

    That’s it. Rehhagel studied each opponent very well and used man to man marking exceptionally. Plus, the midfield in 2004 was a golden generation of DMs for our country. It’s like saying what’s next for England if Lampard and Gerrard retire. In closing, I would say that Greece are more suited to playing as the underdogs. In a way, it’s easier to prepare for France than South Korea.

  132. TheRadLegion says:

    @aig: The same thing can be said for the US, very unlucky to hit the bar. But England did play better on the second half.. but then again apart from Gerrard and Rooney (perhaps a bit of Heskey).. England isn’t better at all than the US

  133. RedScot says:

    The scapegoat wont be Wayne, not yet mate, its Green that will get it in the neck tommorow.
    Although he had a great save that kept England in the competition.
    Slovenia will tougher than you think as any Nothern Irish lad and the Czech Republic will confess.
    You might get 3 points of Algeria. lol

  134. aig alex is god says:

    @TheRadLegion

    Thought Lampard, lennon were very disappointing. lennon just struggles to get the crosses in. most of the crosses were behind rooney or didnt reach him at all. england went for the win so USA will have the odd chance. altidore has a presence but his finishing is poor

  135. Costas says:

    It’s hillarious, but on twitter Beckham’s face is trending(meaning it’s one of the most popular phrases). I wonder why he was disgusted, He’s been there before. Seaman, James, Paul Robinson…

  136. Tony Starks says:

    Thought England played ok, but my expectation of them is not high anyway – as always they seem to be allergic to keeping the ball and being patient…

    anyway Rooney got into so many good positions but they didn’t even look like getting the ball to him.. makes you appreciate even more players like Berbatov and Valencia…

  137. TheRadLegion says:

    @aig: Altidore is completely useless I tell you. I don’t know why Bradley picked him over Buddle/Gomez.

    Agree on Lennon, he may be quick but he ain’t Valencia.

  138. TheRadLegion says:

    Oh and which one is worse.. Taibi or Green’s howler?

  139. willierednut says:

    Frustrating second half from England, god help Green, he’ll get lambasted by the red tops. Rooney grew as match went on, but i get the feeling he’d prefer playing with Cole or Gerrard, instead of Heskey, though the latter did play well tonight.

  140. Toms says:

    Great game by the US. Disciplined, passed well used possession well, had some nice touches. Defense came unglued at times. They were getting dragged out everywhere -.-. US deserved atleast 1 goal the draw is pretty fair.

    Very very poor English team. A lot of undisciplined route 1 footie. Not very much possession. Capello is going to maim someone in the next 5 days.

  141. Costas says:

    @TheRadLegion

    I think that Taibi’s is still worst.

  142. aig alex is god says:

    @The RadLegion

    agree. England could have done with valencia.

  143. willierednut says:

    Agree on the crossing from Lennon and swp, maybe Rooney appreciates Tony v and Nani more now, than he did lol.

  144. Tony Starks says:

    I find it so hard to understand how such great managers come but still can’t get an England team to play in a way where they can put a few passes together… as soon as they get the ball they just care about how quick they can get it into the penalty area… it’s so weird, and horrible to watch

  145. willierednut says:

    England could have done Rio at the back, Terry route one all the time.

  146. united.george says:

    England played like the oldest team at the WC today. Crosses were horrible, cant understand why Joe Cole was not brought on.

    The US still plays a very defensive game but their players are getting stronger and more mature and it showed today. Wil be interesting to see how each team will play against Algeria and Slovenia.

    No matter, because the player of the match today was Park Ji Sung. Disciplined and inspiring captain with a great goal to add!

  147. aig alex is god says:

    England missed barry badly today. the problem was gerrard and lampard in midfield. i believe they can play together but not if they have to defend too. gerrard and lampard play as attacking midfielders for their clubs, so to ask them to play as box to box midfielders on such short notice isnt easy. barry can link play between the defenders and lampard/gerrard which gives stevie me more license to go forward. he was restricted going forward today. barrys return will boost england and improve them too.

  149. Xyth says:

    United would have beaten USA easily.

    What was the point of playing SWP?

  150. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    Captain Stevie just said in the post match that the whole England team are standing behind green after todays game. Is that a show of support of the position they’ll be playing in in the next game for saggy reasons

  151. sprite says:

    england will be fine.. it could have been worse.. they need to tweak a bit here and there, but I think they did alright.. USA played very well, and it wasnt necessarily england that was piss poor.. As a neutral I am glad that USA did well.. I like the fact that soccer is growing in the states instead of boring sports like baseball, basketball and american football.

  152. willierednut says:

    GHTT – Not much else he can say, it was a howler though. I actually think the thug was liberated not being stuck out on the left hand side of midfield, but Barry has been playing well for England, tough decision for Capello for the next game.

  153. Striam says:

    The worst blooper of the night did not belong to Robert Green. Ask ITV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqpmKyL9DT8

  154. irish red says:

    what a shit game! lets be honest the usa are not the best team in the world, well organised perhaps but average at best. england made them look good. englands biggest problem, no midfield. lampard and gerrard missing the whole game, not looking for the ball. one of them needs to be dropped. and dont get me started on heskey! seriously arent strikers supposed to score goals occationally.

    even our man rooney was poor tonight. he didnt exactly get the best service but he didnt look sharp at all. big improvments needed for second game.

    spain and brazil must be licking their lips!!

  155. Slim says:

    i think its funny United fans come on to this blog and moan about England inability to pass the ball better, build up play through good patient football. But yet United have the same problem, no one seems to bat an eye lid. So long as Tony V gets the ball and crosses everybody’s happy.

    I think its simple really, England just lack a spark. Joe Cole may be one of those players to provide what they need. Again in reference to United, its the midfield that is the problem. Lampard and Gerrad just do not have the football brains to play together. FACT

    I mean if USA had better strikers who knows what the result would have been. As far as England is concerned, pass the ball to the left or right and cross the ball. Okay fair one. The crosses were atrocious to say the least. I felt sorry for rooney, cos he really looked like he was up for it.

    The level of play exhibited by England is just not good enough for any pundit,football expert, coach or fan to say they have a fair chance of winning the world cup.

    Maybe i’m talking out of my arse, and the loud noise from the stadium put them off but it really doesn’t look good for the 3 lions

  156. kennylad says:

    The first problem and it isn’t the only one is Lampard. Anyone just needs to watch how scholes links the play up and Lampard and it’s obvious why England hit long balls and Rooney has no service.

    Lampard is not good enough, along with Heskey and others. Why Cappello continues to play Lampard in the advanced central midfield role is a mystery to me.

    Green made a mistake, but it’s a good mistake if it highlights the probelm that had been bothering england now for decades. Over-rated players who live off reputations and can’t cut it when it comes to the crunch and the pressure is on. It’s no good beating teams at home etc… it’s time England played abroad a hell of alot more and learned the cold hard facts…..They are shite and not enough players can adapt to the different style that is international football.

    I for one am Engliish and i hope we lose and badly. We need a massive wake up call and even losing badly i fear will not be enough.

  157. Fze123 says:

    @ AIG, Rooney only came alive in the last 20 minutes or so – when England players noticed he was on the pitch. Piss poor service to him throughout the game, unsurprisingly. They did not involve him at all. He should have played much higher up, where he produces the goods, with Joe Cole playing further behind. Joe Cole was missed more than Barry imo.

  158. Tony Starks says:

    Don’t think United’s and England’s is the same problem at all… England’s play seems to be totally based on hoofing the long ball up to the Heskey/Crouch figure or out wide to Lennon… United for one thing don’t even have a big target man, even on a bad day our play is much more fluent. Sure we do employ a counter-attacking fast breakaway play involving playing balls long, but there is method to that.

    And when players like Scholes/Giggs and Berbatov play, our play is very fluent on the most part.

  159. Paul H says:

    Jeez, I’m getting all kinds of grief from the Yanks about the England game today. Apparently though, Green’s howler is one spill that they’re not pissed with us Brits about. No more calamities please. Calamity James for Algeria on Friday? Not sure about the Wazza-Heskey thing either….

  160. Fze123 says:

    Was that white round thing a bomb or a football on the pitch. Every England player just did not want to keep hold of the ball for more than one second. Long ball after long ball. First half they couldn’t even string two passes together. Passing and build up was better second half but the un supportive midfield and non pacey defence are problems. Cappello’s decisions today were questionable.

  161. RedScot says:

    @ Goat, at 18.10 your post, funny and to the point.

  162. vidic will get ya 15 says:

    been sat reading the bbc 606 for and hour and ohh my fuckin days, it sums up why i hate the england team, they are slating there team to fuck. im going to refer to 2 incidents, 1st craven cottage, united go 3 nil down, the fulham fans celebrate, then for the last 20 minutes all the united fans chanted their hearts out on a freezing cold december evening, “this is how it feels to be city” we chanted in unison, the fulham fans looked bemused, fergie even commented about it in our next home game programme, v wigan, thats real passion, not chanting the natioal anthem then booing players when things go slightly wrong. i just dont get it. 2nd point i remember the young lad rafeal gettin sent off v munich, he was having a blinding game and his red card changed the game, he was distraught, he looked so alone walkin off yet the stretford end clapped him all the way down the tunnel and no one with in united ever blamed rafa. as successful as united are even in times were we have been out played or things go against us, or a player makes a mistake, are fans always stick together. this is why i love united,
    oneloveoneunited
    fuck england

  163. Tony Starks says:

    so vida… did our fans give unconditional support to Taibi or Roy Carrol after their cock-ups?
    this is the world cup man! so many people work so hard to get to this position after 4 years, and the guy makes such a simple cock-up… anyway it’s ok that happened now and not in the knockput games

  164. vidic will get ya 15 says:

    taibi was never given another chance, roy carroll was backed i believe, i was at both games away at derby last year, and on both occassions gave him a ovations. its the scapegoat thing that gets me, heskey and swp missed sitters, lennon didnt produce any quality crosses, all am sayin is everybodys gonna jump on green and i think its harsh, especially as 12 hours ago we were gonna wint he world cup, and now we wont qualify?? its pretty cut throat

  165. benb says:

    ‘irish red says:

    Seriously you think now england would be knocked ou in the firstround.Dont be crazy mate.I think england didnt play that badly as some people here are saying.Capello should play joe coleinstead of heskey .Like aig said england would do welll when barry returns.
    Hell even argentiena didnt play that well but still people would say argie will win the cup and england would be knocked out.

  167. Costas says:

    England will probably still advance as first from this group.

    Any news on the tabloids’ headlines? Do we know what Green’s punishment will be?

  168. parryheid says:

    Green what a diddy.Not to worry though flapper James is poised to step in.Oh Joy.

  169. Marq says:

    At least the mistake came in a game that is now rather than in the knockout rounds. But still, it was a bad mistake, bread and butter for goalkeepers that somehow Green messed up. If they drop Green now, they might as well send him home, because he won’t be starting anymore games, not to mention his England career will be over.

    That said, it was harsh to just blame Green. Heskey, as usual, could only bully defenders without having the abilty to do anything else right. Lennon cannot put in a good cross to save his life, and SWP’s left foot is only for standing. Joe Cole should be playing on the left from the next game on.

  170. Costas says:

    @Marq

    Well said. Heskey’s wasted opportunity imo was equally costly as Green’s howler. They say that you sleep with the dogs and will wake up with flees. I wonder if Capello wondered last night why Heskey is in South Africa and Darren Bent isn’t.

    Anyway, I also say that dropping Green right now won’t do anyone any favors.

  171. Redhot Concepts says:

    Fabio does not know what he is doin!! He should shoulder the blame for such uninspiring performance. Green, Milner, King, Heskey, Jamie!! what was he thinkin!!!

    Over reliance on Wayne! poor kid.

  172. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    David james wasn’t 100% fit yesterday and they are saying green was only there to play yesterdays games to give James a rest. Now he’ll either stick with his plan and let James play in goal ad let te media ruin greens carreer or

    @ Vidic will get ya

    Spot on mate

  174. red.monkey.man.banana says:

    Costas
    what you on about mate, Heskey was pretty good last night. He assisted Gerrard, and teed off SWP and Lennon many times. Barring the bad finish, he was the better striker last night, tbh.

  175. Costas says:

    @red.monkey.man.banana

    I am not critisizing his overall performance. Just saying that if Green is going to get blamed for one mistake, then Heskey should be blamed for his too. Because they were both equally costly I feel. Green also made a good save in the second half keeping the score at 1-1.

    In general, my opinion is that Bent should have got the call instead of Heskey based on the season that both of them had.

  176. Costas says:

    Ok guys, brace yourselves. Joke of the decade:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1286260/Manchester-United-join-race-sign-free-agent-Michael-Ballack.html?ITO=1490

    I was about to post the other crap about Real offering 30 mil for Vidic, but this one surpassed it.

  177. Linvoy says:

    @ Costas… i read about 4 lines of it… then stopped… utter rubbish… i hate that man!

  178. Aig alex is god says:

    Heskey was good yesterday.englands man of the match

  179. Costas says:

    @Linvoy

    Lol I only got as far as the first picture too! I’v always said that I will support any player that Man United bring in, but this will be a severe test for me!

  180. Sketch says:

    @ Costas, with the world cup starting you would think that the bullshit being published would be kept at a minimum. But I guess there is no limit. I am slightly annoyed with the impression the tabloids have of united. We are not a has been because of one poor season (by our standards) . We dont NEED to sign Chelsea rejects.

    Also, I would like to raise that the constant “Ohh, I wonder how Fergie is feeling” comments need to STOP. Just because an Ex- united player is playing well, doesnt mean that Fergie is beating himself over selling him. Gosh. >_<

    Seriously, so far the WC hasn't been enjoyable.

  181. Linvoy says:

    @ Costas… i know what you mean… i’d find it very difficult… even if he could do a job for us.

    I would have taken him 4 yrs ago when he was available… however he didn’t come and he hasn’t exactly endeared himself to our fans since pulling on the rent boy shirt…unlike someone like Joe Cole who doesn’t offend me at all and would happily take him at OT next season!

    Im not sure where these papers dream these stories up…. must have literally nothing to go on hence why they insist on making up ridiculous sensational stories which are ultimately bullshit…

    I imagine he’ll end up back in Germany next season!

  182. loughie21 says:

    Why is no one suggesting Hart play instead of Green? The guy has had an amazing season and would you really pick him over the forty year old Calamity James? For those who say Heskey was good, i don’t know what you are on about. He made an assist, a good one at that and spent the rest of the game losing possession. They hit the ball towards him all the time, 20% of the time he won the headers, the other 80 he’d knock down to the US. After he missed the chance that would have won the game the Irish commentator said “he doesn’t like one on one situations”. He’s a fucking striker!!! And he doesn’t wanna go one on one with the keeper?? He couldn’t have put it in Tim Howards pocket any better. Darren Bent may not be World Class but i strongly believe he would have scored that.

    I may not like the Irish punditry team Giles, Dunphy and Souness but last night they were spot on. England were playing route one football, the midfield were non existant and Heskey was not winning the ball enough to make it worthwhile. And of course, the killer, nobody passed the ball to Wayne Rooney…

    I wanted England to do well but unless they completely overhaul their first 11 (it may be too late considering he left too many better players at home Parker, Young, Bent and every english defender who is better than carragher) and tactics England will struggle to go anywhere in this tournament

  183. Costas says:

    @Sketch

    That has always happened, world cup or no world cup. In Seba Veron’s first game for Chelsea he scored at Anfield and the commentator went “Are you watching Sir Alex Ferguson”? Ugh. I was a fan of Veron’s and I thought that he could have stayed on for another season, but geez, making daft comments like that on his first game? History has proved that in 90% of the occasions, the only way for someone leaving OT is down. The one player that I did regret seeing leave us is Diego Forlan. But at the time it was the best thing to do for him really.

    @Linvoy

    Plenty of head games from the agent mate. One week they are saying that Mourinho wants him at Real, now they are saying that Sir Alex wants him at United. There was also talk about a return to Leverkusen. That’s the most realistic scenario for him.

  184. MG says:

    Hi all

    Thank you all once more for your support and words of wisdom : )

    @Rai – everything went well – no op for yet – it’s a blessing

    England back to normal – blame Rooney for not saving them – typical

    Also smacks of stupidity – one mistake and the goalkeeper should be shot – typical

    Heskey plays well but can’t score – wonder where we have heard that before : )

    King injured – what did you expect – some miracle that the man would go through the whole tournament not injured? – Get real

    How did James Milner play when he was ill for the best part of last week? `X File

    Where was Lampard?

    And why oh why were Lennon and SWP not staying on the wings? Why were they cutting in so much and then staying inside rather than on the outside?

    Where are United when you need them – oh yes back to my nap we don’t go till August : )

    Next…

  186. loughie21 says:

    @GHTT just heard that as well, surprised you’re watching the match, I thought I was the only one trying to put up with this terrible display of football…

  187. MG says:

    One quick point on the transfers

    On Vida

    I can’t stop laughing – all the newspaper stuff once more is the same stuff from January with added “after the World Cup” line thrown in for good measure

    Is he going? Yes it’s so wonderful to know that the media have SAF ear – the gaffer is soaking up the sun somewhere in the south of France as he always does and probably not giving a shit about the bullshit in the papers

    As I have said many times – the London press hate us and many of us soak there bollocks up too much

    Whatever the gaffer does is what he does – no one else is privy to it. The player himself said at the end of the season that he isn’t going – and that’s enough. Read into that as you all will – but Vidic has been transferred in the papers for the last three seasons – and it hasn’t happened.

    Ronaldo was different – he really did want to go and did not hide that want.

    Berba is the other player – if he is off only SAF knows. If he isn’t – only SAF knows.

    The papers are just downright stupid – Buying Kjaer for 14 million when he has a buy out clause for 12?

    Buying Dzeko for over 34 million when he had a clause for that much a few weeks ago?

    Getting Ballack? Huh?

    Phil Jagielka?

    You only need to look at the Torres story. Chelsea have bought him or are buying him from 130 million to 40 million and everything else in between

    City are buying all the players in the world again – but they can’t offer CL football though

    The bullshit and the London press delusion continues – unfortunately for them and fortunately for us only Sir Alex Ferguson runs Old Trafford and Manchester United

  188. Marq says:

    For Heskey, I believe first and foremost, if he is a player representing England, he should at least contribute some goals. For him to be picked over so many players who are scoring goals, shows what kind of position England is in. Take a look at the English league. The teams who uses this kind of tactic, ie have a bully infront to create chances for others, it is the likes of Bolton and Aston Villa who does this often. It does not matter if the big 4 are strong enough to compete with the rest of the world, because the play style of England resembles that of a mid table team.

    Yes there are those who said Heskey did well against USA compared to Rooney, but that is precisely the problem. By playing Heskey, they are further burdening Rooney to finish off any remote chance they make. And if Gerrard and Lampard do not provide enough forward support, it will be easy to mark Rooney out of the game, like what USA did.

    That said, I don’t really care much how England does, I just hope this over reliance on Rooney don’t break him. The media slaughtered Green for a mistake in this game that does not really count too much, and by form, USA are actually no easy meat judging by their results recently. Imagine if we get into the knockout round and Rooney misses a game saving chance?

    I just hate this media circus that is bigging up the team for a big smash on the head when things go wrong, total disgrace.

  189. wayne says:

    england were fucking awful rooney should be playing on his own playing him deep is a fucking joke heskey is a fucking joke what a shit show that was yesterday.i sick and tired of the vidic shit i think theres no question he wants out and has for over a year now so take the 30mill and get rid of him if he doesn’t want to play for us

    @ Sketch, agree about the unenjoyable WC so far. Really was looking forward to the Argentina-Nigeria game yesterday, expected lots of goals, considering the likes of Higuain, Messi, Tevez started but the only goal from the game came from a defender. Not just that, but the quality of football the other teams have been playing so far is just poor. Going to be watching Serbia hoping for some good football.

  193. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    Mad goats world cup round up part 2.
    Jesus christ this world cup so far is complete bolox, is it the altitude, is it the ball, is it the food or is it those bloddy whining trumpets. I havent seen a decent game of football yet. Earlier today those unfortunate to watch that match between Algeria and Slovenia would have seen a display of talentless sausage jockeys running around the park in their tight tops. I thought it couldnt get worse but that match was shite and the keeper what the fuck was he doing. Ive looked at the repay over and over again and can only come up with the idea that he thought their was a a big fat naked bear in front of him and he reached for his undercarriage and proceeded to rim his imaginary friend. I googled rimming and printed a picture and stuck it over the youtube replay and sure enough it fits a fucking treat. Anyway enough of that kids are present. England last night was a shambles and well done to all of you on here that said England played ugly football and sat back on leads. You were right. Why have we still got the Gerrard show, score a goal (well taken have to give him that) but why does he then have to strut for 87 minutes, has he no pride in protecting what could have been his winning goal. Green oh boy the only thing that springs to mind is CUNT. I do appologise, alot of people don’t like that word, so look away now ……………..CUNT………………. you can look now. Im getting sick of this world cup already and i might break out the fucking 20 DVD case of Inspector Lyney murders because if I carry on watching these talentless morons anymore they’ll be a fucking murder here at home. Signing off for now, the muzzies never got me ha ha, surprisingly quiet in town yesterday. With the Swedes not involved they’ve probably all gone home and indulged in some Swedish passtimes .. eating meatballs, circle jerking or commiting suicide.

  195. Paul Parker says:

    Funny, if the World Cup is so shit why watch it? England actually played well till Robert Green cocked up. Heskey had a good game you can see why he was picked, he holds up the ball very well for the others. Capello needs to find a way to bring Rooney into the game more, maybe bring in Cole into a midfield of Gerrard Lampard and Lennon. Cole can link up play between the midfield and the front two. Eitherway I think England look good for progressing. Vidic had a poor game, his side were completely outplayed by Ghana who deserved to win, that was a good game. Serbia weren’t allowed to play. South Korea and Greece was a good game as well, Park did brilliantly. Greece were completely shite. Germany are fucking over the Pommies right now lmao. Considering we’re only 8 played, and 3 days into 30 days or so, I dont see what the need is to constantly talk shit about the World Cup? Either turn over the TV or stop Bitching fellas!!!

    When it gets down to SPAIN AND BRAZIL AND HOLLAND AND GERMANY AND ENGLAND AND PORTUGAL AND ARGENTINA AND ITALY ETC you know just as well as I do all you Cunts are gonna be watching eagerly. So stop being moany bastards and enjoy the Game. Cos thats all it is, a Game.

    As for the Horns……

    Jesus are they really that bad? Compared to what that depressing Drum Banging of the English? the nervous SIlence of Wembly? The Horns give the games atmosphere, ajust your sets if it bothers you that much. I think some people just like to complain. Besides people in the Crowd have paid good money to be entertained and enjoy themselves, not eat Prawn fucking sandwiches quietly and/or shout FOUL Abuse about peoples Children and Wives. Ain’t that rich? For all the Foul, Racist, Cunt Type “Banter” you hear in good ole England you and the Media wanna act like Horns are the most offensive thing you’ve ever heard at a Football Match. Let me guess, all that Foul Banter is a better atmosphere than what your witnessing in South Africa?

    You people make me laugh with your bollocks lmao, just enjoy the fucking football aye?

    ;-)

  196. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    Paul Parker your a little footballer.

    The horns are bloody anoying because of the continuos drone that gives us “prawn sandwich” brigade a fucking numb on. Look the odd person shouting in my earhole “your missus takes it up the shitter is one thing” but these trumpets look like its effecting play. If you like them great, I can understand, Ive read lots of your posts and you love to blow your own horn. I love footie and ill continue watching in the hope of a good game, which coincidently came tonight when Germany clinically put the aussies to the sword.
    P.S can we stop calling the toffs at OT the fucking Prawn Sandwich brigade, I mean its the fucking 2010′s. We don’t eat prawn sandwiches anymore thats so 1980′s. One prefers smoked salmon and cream cheese or possibly even a smoked raindeer flesh salad, cutting out the carbs altogether.
    Paul Parker get with it, one doesn’t want to look a dunce does one.

    park does this on a regular basis for South Korea. Because he is played more in central midfield than out wide

    I was at the stadium for the game. Such a big disapoinyment for us Greeks who went to watch it, especially since we travelled more than 1000 kms to get there. We still had a great time afterwards. Nice pounce from Park though.

    Off topic I was at the Netherlands/Denmark game today.Soccer City is a amazing stadium
