Manchester United won their opening game of the pre-season tour this afternoon against Perth Glory, winning 2-0 thanks to two second half goals from academy graduates.

Marcus Rashford put United ahead with an hour played after seizing on the opposition giving the ball away, with his strike finding the bottom corner.

“Very pleased with the goal he scored,” Solskjaer told MUTV after the game. “It’s instinct. He swivels and finishes. It’s not one of those pretty goals, but it’s a goal that I’ve said that Marcus needs to add to his tally, because he scores wonder goals but when he can get five of these a season, hopefully he can get it in the league as well, he’ll add to his tally.”

Five minutes before time, James Garner secured the opening win of the tour after capitalising from another mistake.

“Great for him,” Solskjaer said. “We’d just had a corner kick and I said get on the edge of the box and score with your first touch, but I think he had two, but I wasn’t happy with that one. A fantastic strike, the boy can play and he’s enjoying tonight.”
