As if we need an excuse…

When I see this video makes me realised how much I hate the rent boys
Terry with all his arrogance, playing with his armband as his approached his pen, thinking he’s captain fantastic, who is going to win the cup for Chelski.
I’m sure we are going to turn them over this weekend. Fletch, Berbs and Rooney will destroy Terry et al.
So good makes u wanna cry every time u watch it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah the memories! Some observations:
1)Hargo and Nani deserve credit for keeping us alive during the normal shoot out. The ball must have weighed a ton at that point.
2)All the Chelsea players sent the ball to VDS’s left. Apart from Anelka who ended up costing them the trophy.
3)Ryan Giggs is a legend.
4)John Terry is a crybaby cunt.
Watching this clip again, I just realised how ridiculously biased that commentary was, at least on the shoot-out. Couldn’t say a good word about United and seemed pained whenever a penalty of theirs went in and with Chelsea he was almost wanking off over Terry and Lampard. Then again I suppose that’s symptomatic of the entire country’s media.
Terry, what a prick, wanting to score the winning penalty to give him the ego boost he wanted and have yet more Chelsea fans worshipping him. I went mental in the pub when he missed that.
5)Ronaldo missed 2 consecutive penalties in the Champions League.
6)Anderson kicked the ball only once in that final.
That was your birthday, wasn’t it Costa?
blast from the past..just wanna cry watching it all over again
off topic – new rentboys CE wants to win CL twice in 5 years!!! dream on
I just hope no silly prognoses will be made till the starting whistle will be blown.
love it, 20 hours after my daughter was born… what a memorable 24 hrs that was!
but all i remember of the final is my missus going mental at me when i was screaming cause id wake the baby!
Last season Scott posted about his feelings on how big we’ve become and the possible complacency in our squad and our supporters.
Before the chelsea game we are underdogs and the majority of our fans doesn’t believe we have a chance of winning things this year.
This is the position i love to be in. (i hope there will be no misinterpretation DDD)
Costa as much as nani gets my goat( no pun intended ) I always give him credit for a young kid to stand up and take one of the 4 most important penos of that shoot out. As for terry takin that peno when they had a sulk/ striker ready to take a peno is a win for ego haters everywhere. Anderson with a Paul scholes special . Fuck John Terry
@theboogeyman : Yep, it sure was! The game started during my nameday and it ended during my birthday! Best present i ever got! I didn’t remember that about Ando.
Another fact: Drogba would have taken one of the 5. Probbaly the one John Terry ended up taking. It was fate alright!
@Corea: I like the underdog role myself. The game this Sunday is particulary hard. We haven’t won there in 8 years. It’s about time we do it.
You know what .. i have just had a revelation! I have slated Nani all season and really wanted us to sell him, but my g-d did he step up when we needed him… I never even thought of it at the time, as i was in Moscow, but for a 20 year old boy to “have to score” and him to do it was amazing, GOOD ON YOU Nani!
Why does the highlights just show the Penalty shoot out?
The highlight of the final was Ronaldos goal.
We played some superb football in that first half and should have been about 3 up. One move started in our own corner flag and resulted in a fast flowing move that Tevez should have scored from.
Giggs and Carrick both should have hit the back of the net in the first half.
The drama intensified after Chelsea scored, with Drogbas 2nd half shot hitting the upright leading to many a heart in the mouth, just as in 1999 when the crossbar and woodwork behind Schmeichel was rattled.
The sending off of Drogba was also a crucial part to the final.
One thing that is embarassing about the John Terry miss, is that some United fans credit Uniteds win with that moment, rather then congratulating the United team on their own style and achievement, not loosing a game in Europe all season was a great achievement.
The save by VDS won us the cup, rather than Terrys miss.
Ive even seen muppets at Old Trafford with embarassing things such as “We love John Terry, Moscow 08″ on the back of replica shirts, such fans need to be eradicated from Old Trafford, its no wonder the atmospere is so bad.
@Tufty
is that really you.great post from you. please post such postive comments rather than being negative
OH Ryan Giggs I love you
Tufty telling people what to wear to a match. I think i love reading your shit now for entertainment. What in the blue fuck does it matter if someone loves manchester united tattoos john terry falling on his arse on his forehead. . .
This was one of the happiest moments of my life, this and 1999…
Rooney legging it off in dreamland
Evra skipping over the advertising boards on a mission
Wes Brown trying the same thing and failing
Ronaldo celebrating with himself!!!
Why does Tufty crack on like he runs Old Trafford. The other week is rights for the flag just because he wanted to cash in on his own site, then it was fans should not take pictures at the ground, now its peoples clothes. Tufty i would rather see fans wear a relevant T shirt than that gay outfit i saw you in at the Derby with them ridiculous sun glasses you had on! At the end of the day the atmoshere is never going to be like it used to be hence why so many fans prefer away games. Barring the idiots at Barns the atmosphere was class but you just cant have that in a stadium our size with a wide range of fans that come to Old Trafford.
giggs11gerrard0
I think I love you
GHTT, we have an embarassing element to our support, Johnny Come Latelys who are an embarassment to the support. People who turn up thinking that United have a devine right to win every game, booing the team off if we arent winning 5-0.
People who would rather video a match on their phone than get behind the team or attempt to sing.
People in face paints and jester hats (Grown men not kids), people with pathetic slogans on the back of replica shirts.
Irish who turn up and embarass the Irish nation, not just the United support, with their antics. With many only wanting to sing songs about Best, Keane and O’Shea than joining in other songs. Singing in the pub but falling asleep drunk in the ground where the singing needs to be done.
Idiots shouting “Shoooot” every time a player gets the ball within 40 yards of the goal.
Idiots shouting “Who arh yeh” and clapping their hands above their heads as if its some Soccer AM mongfest.
Old Trafford becomes more like a trip to Disneyland each year, than it does a trip to the football. ut I suppose the stewards would rather it be like that, than peope on their feet singing and bouncing.
Tufty – Make me a video which includes those highlights. Until then, shut the fuck up. Your constant whinging is really getting on my nerves – you complain for the sake of it. You seem to show no effort to be constructive or get involved in discussion and just people off. If you wish to contine on this way, that is fine, but you won’t be doing it on RoM. I don’t see why we should have to put up with it on RoM when every other decent United blog and forum out there has got rid of you.
Tufty
you and your fuckin high horse
you know everyone from Ireland who goes to old traffod do you,
you know what everyone should wear
what they should do
what they should say
Are you for fucking real
Old Trafford is fucking Disneyland to people who dont leave a car ride away and its people who support united from around the world , althose fucking glory hunting day trippers, that make manchester united the biggest grossing team in any sport in any part of the world. you dont think a baseball team in new york would fucking love england to embrace them. You talk Bollox . And when it comes to taping videos inside old trafford so fuckin what
for anyone who wasnt there at this historic point in history
this is the second united won there 18th title http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zS_08BztG-o
WHO IN THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE
Scot, dont take everything so personal and dont take every comment as being aimed at yourself.
Im sure this site (If not, it was from a clip on here that had a you tube clip on it) had a good highlights video from the final on it the other day, that showed the teams coming out, the goals, the pens and the celebrations.
We have had some memorable games against Chelsea, the 4-0 1994 FA Cup win was a great way to clinch the double.
Chelsea have always been a hard team to play against, they used to have a superb record at Old Trafford.
Sunday will be the first game I’ve missed in a long time (Baby due in next week, so cant risk going down to London) and Im gutted I’ll be mising suh a key game. i just hope Fergie gets the team selection right, as he got it wrong at Anfield and in the past we have shown to much emphasis on the opposition in big away games, rather than concentrating on our own game.
Olf Trafford is what it is and United is what it is. The day we had the words Football Club removed from the badge symbolised the future (whether we liked it or not). We’re no different from others as our fan make up is stereotypical of modern day football grounds in the Premiership. “Who are yer” is not a chant I like at all particularly when playing Barcelona/Madrid/Milan et al but surely a bigger concern is the vile nonsense sung at Anfield and at normal away games nowhere near Merseyside. There’s a United element that rejoice in Hillsborough and then cry foul when Munich gets no respect. It’s that type of hypocritical behaviour that is surely of bigger concern.
PS I shouted shooooooot seconds before a small ginger lad smashed one in from 25 yards against Barcelona – Guilty as charged
When can we except Hargreaves to be back ????
karandravs
Id be watching the reserves in the next 2 weeks
I can see it happening
What I love about that video is the commentator describing John Terry as ‘the heart and soul of Chelsea’, which pretty much sums up why he bellied up to take a penalty while there were strikers available, and shat the bed.
GHTT – self righteous fans just wind me up, of course we would love to have the atmosphere like at away games but no big club has that at home. Even the so called famous 12th man at Anfield is a myth, ok on big euro nights when they are playing to stay in the comp you can hear them. But you ask there season ticket holders and I bet you they would say the same as us, it is piss poor at times. That is just modern day football.
Olesrightfoot – Couldnt agree more in your views, we are the same make up of any other club in the prem, just bigger in scale, and definately agree about the chant who are ya? Tufty is right on that one! I was shouting shoot when Valencia got the ball the other night like you say guilty as charged. The only player we shouldnt be shouting that to is Anderson!
@GHTT : i want curly hair too
Congratulations on the kid,Tufty!
“Tufty i would rather see fans wear a relevant T shirt than that gay outfit i saw you in at the Derby with them ridiculous sun glasses you had on”!
Fucking quality.
Running around and screaming at the living room after VDS saved it, went to the balcony to screamed “champions! champions!” at the top of my throat, my wife and I was in complete joy!
On another note, we all wish Old Trafford would be a different place, more atmosphere, etc… but it is not possible with more fans who does not come every week to join the songs all the time. More true fans are also priced out from going to the stadium because the ticket is expensive.
I can’t see why some fans always have problem seeing daytrippers coming to OT. The club needs money and will take all fans from around the world to pay the players, staffs, the list never ends..
So all this arguing about these fans should do this, and these shouldn’t do that is a pointless discussion.
Anyway, come on United, let’s beat chelsea this weekend!
viva john terry
viva john terry
coulda won the cup
but he fucked it up
viva john terry.
lol just brilliant. we’ll hammer em at the weekend. cant wait for MR CHELSKI to cry again.
‘Reliving our favourite Chelsea moment’? I thought,Wow, has Scott really got some film of Bobby Charlton scoring at Stamford Bridge in our 2-1 win on Christmas Eve 1960?? Only kidding, although that was a pretty special moment for me back then, like an early Christmas present. I watched this Champions League Final penalty shoot-out, having not seen the whole thing in real time since the match and I was amazed at how it gripped me all over again, ending with me whooping at Van Der Sar’s save (even looking for the smile on his face as he got his hand to the ball). I’m glad people have picked up on Nani’s nerve and the same goes for Anderson, another little kid. And wasn’t it great to see Hargreaves lash his in, how great it would be have him back. If only we’d had him and Fletcher fit against Barca I think it would all have been so very different.
Fantastic moment. Few points from that.
1. Commentator saying ‘just’ when Hargreaves superbly despatched his penalty. Cech was never near it, so that was a stupid fucking comment to say the least.
2. Fucking bastard Ballack celebrating as if it was a formality when Ashley Cole scored.
3. Commentator vehemently defending Terry’s miss (haha) due to a slip in the same place where VDS slipped for fat Franks equaliser.
Those aside, what a great moment that was.
Ahh..sweet memories. Will never forget the feeling I felt when VDS saved anelka’s peno, too emotional too talk about. Seeing hargo in this video made me realise he’s still playing for us. Any news on him?
Nani scores brilliant penos, remember pre-season against bayern munich in the audi cup, I think it was. Pity he’s playing pretty shit at the moment.
@Kings
Point number 1
On rte over in Ireland they ripped him apart for saying just and worked out from a keeper standing in the middle of the goal , like cech and all keepers do be, the keeper would need to be 6′10” to save hargreaves peno.
Tufty – I’m not being sensitive but I really have had enough of you repeatedly coming on here you spout your bullshit. You asked why the video only included the shoot-out. If you can do a better job, by all means, get cracking. Otherwise, fuck off. I’m tired of your constant sniping and complaining over the most trivial of things. This is supposed to be a nice thread where we reflect on our magnificent European Cup win and the rollercoaster ride of emotions we went through, particularly during the shoot-out. Yet you turn it in to some bitch fest winding people up. Sort yourself out or you will be banned from here, like you are from everywhere else, because I’m tired of you bringing the mood down all the time and can no longer justify keeping you around to those that e-mail me in complaint of your bitchy and nasty attitude.
One of the best nights of my life, period. Amazing, that feeling of ecstasy and relief when Van Der Sar saved that penalty felt so great!
Dont you just love that clip! Laptop is nearly burnt out playing the thing!! Cheers for the good memories mate!
Hope we are just as happy come 6pm Sunday!
PS. Well said Scott The Red………….Tufty are you on some sort of medication? Depression can be dealt with mate!! Take your pills as prescribed! Im from Belfast and go every home game and sing every song! Manchester United are in their prime! Fuking enjoy it! Just have a coke and a smile and shut to fuck up!
Superb stuff. Still nervous watching it now!
Thanks for posting this! I just finished the penalty kicks section in “Soccernomics” that describes this exact shootout through the lens of statistics and I’ve been looking for this vid. This is truly one of the greatest moments in penalties.
Excited for this weekend!
What a clip Scott – fucking quality
Made me cry all over again (really did)
Can I just add – to a certain degree “Tufty” has a point, about the atmosphere at OT. But let me also add – who gives a shit what people are wearing – as someone says even if they tattoo JT on their forehead. Its all out of love for Manchester United.
However – and I don’t get to many games – but everytime I have been, the atmosphere has been really bad, apart from the Villa game last season (Super-Macheda), and that game I sat in the Strettie, and seemed like we made all the noise. I wish I could go to more games, however I can honestly not afford to – when I do go I have had people tell me to “stop making noise”, and I think thats the kinda shit Tufty is complaining about. Apart from that the rest of what Tufty says feels like bollocks to me.
Anway I’m off to watch the ‘99 CL final (last 10 minutes) and cry again.
ps. How do I get my name to come up in red and underlined like many of you great posters here?
*Goosebumps*
i watched this a billion times and i’m still tense lollll
i know we bash nani but geeze…he kept us in the fuckin european cup!!
Hargreaves…i love you mate.
my fav parts
evra jumpin over the adverts haha
Rooney in fuckin dreamland lolll wots he doin lollllllll
@ truereddevil
You need to mention a website when you post. Your name turns in to a hyperlink for the website then..
What a buzz watching that again. Forgot how emotional it was…
No Russian money can buy the moment that VDS shakes his arms in celebration of that save of crying-cunt Terry. Ronny got a big reprieve & then left us. His miss cancels out his header, almost. Sunday we go to London & beat them & go 1 pt ahead.Promise!
I”ll never swap this moment with the national lottery !
The only thing in my life that makes SOOO HAPPY is when MANCHESTER UNITED WIN TROPHIES !!!
Money is nothing compared to these briliant moments. Belive me ……….
It’s just so emotional this shoot-out… jesus fucking christ. I remember watching it… soooo amazing.
Is it me or VDS seems more confident when diving to his right than his left?
what a beauty from hargo can’t wait to see him.
And did l see an unbiased pitch? after VDS slipping for their goal tiny tears slipped for the decisive PK and now that’s what u called playing on a level ground!!!
My favourite post of the year so far! What moments!
I hope that we will win today!
absolutely the best post of the year!
cant wait for Hargo to play again
i think we can win CL again if hes around..
Shit, my nerves were shattered watching that again!
I even found myself biting my nails – I’ll never forget the ‘oh he’s missed it’ commentary – what a night!
STR, was wondering whether you had a video of our 5-3 victory in the FA Cup a few years back when we were 5-0 up at one stage. Would love to see that video
