   Was reading the Guardian’s minute by minute and a referee has already started defending the award of the penalty:

   “Contact is not necessary: you have to read the intent of the player, inferring that from his behaviour. Were his studs showing? Did he come in harder than necessary? Was he anywhere near the ball? Any of those would suffice. And yes – I’m a ref.”

   What a joke, the media are already diverting attention from a blatant dive – just imagine if it was Rooney, it’ll be splashed all over the back pages!

    Referees have definitely gone crazy. They are denying us stone wall penalties while they just gave one for a blatant dive.

    Why is it the dippers year? Why are the rentboys favourites for the title? It’s their knack of winning/drawing games they don’t deserve to pick up points from. (And help from the referee is always required.)

    12 men for liverpool today, how many times did we see that? And in the newspapers its allways Fergie complaining, or refs givin penalties for united…. SHIT, were did the world go????!!!! Definetly premier league needs cameras and new rule like the nfl, or the eagle eye in tenis, this cannot continue anymore, and Fergie said it a couple of times that the game needs that kind of equipment and rule changing.

    it is madness that there is no use of cameras. any armchair viewer can see if it was a foul or not, a penalty, offside, whatever before the ref is finished consulting the linesmen.

    am so upset that I don’t want to comment about the referee and assistant referees who gave key decisions against united (rooney ‘offside’, terry elbowing a united player, drogba and Cole play-acting, shirt-pulling, dragging other players down etc)! Oops I just did!!! I guess we have to win the league the hard way!
