Valencia looking very good on the ball. Antonio that is.
The Future is bright
The Future is UNITED!
Gr8 game after so long…guys Owen was magnificient..m judgin this by d runs he made..if he gets a few games under his belt ul see Magic..His got that perfect instinct..m glad v bought him no complains at all..HE IS CLASS! period!
Wohoooo! Valencia is a great asset to United!! What a cross and a great finish from Rooney! Who says we will miss Ronny? I might even be that we will get back to the freeflowing and freescoring shape we had 1 and 2 seasons ago:)
will cleverly’s goal be posted? never got to see any of the game
we miss nobody
Antonio is great,thank God we have a winger again, and Roo is fantastic, I love the croud cheering at the begining of the game Rooney,Rooney,Rooney,would I ever witness it,ohhh. Good luck on sunday,I’ll be happy with this result.I don’t want to think about Wes and Vidic- I’m afraid
this was really a great game, the young guys impressed a lot… And so did the new guys Owen and A Valencia.
Owen was so unlucky not to score…
but man oh man im looking forward to the game against Chelsea and a start of hopefully a great season
TVGOLO: have all the goals from all world games if Cleverlys goal isn’t showed.
@jamos9
thanks for that, got to see his goal
sign David Silva
Antonio Valencia is quality. Absolutely quality.
Owen was just unfortunate that’s all. He made the runs brilliantly.
David Silva was very impressive. I honestly hope the rumours are true. He plays on the left and is a creative attacking player.
Richie De Laet is a hard man.
Valencia was brilliant, he showed everything that we covet in a winger: speed, strength, confidence and crossing ability. This was a really good performance for him.
For Valencia, Silva really stood out with his silky through balls. Unfortunately for him, no one could capitalise on them but it was still a great match to watch.
Hopefully Owen finds his scoring touch in the Chelsea game.
well done guys. antonio valencia wa wonderfull with his pace and crossings. da laet. cleverly, gibbson. kiko no words for the yougsters to praise, naani and ando getting very well. when the season starts in week time they will b fine. rest of the team hmmmm nothing to complain becoz its only a friendly but they played with passion and pride, i saw some ppl criticising owen please guys give him a time when the season begin he will play for 3 points and that will b different. rooney was fantastic, we play game with 11 players so u just cant blame. everyone doing what they been asked by the gaffar. as long as we win no complain. come on red devils bring it on chelsea.
Nicely taken goals
Valencia looks great!
Just got back from the game.
Owen —- not sure what to make of him.
He got himself into good positions but had four crystal clear chances and should have taken them, even I would have scored them!
But… at least he got into the positions in the first place, and once he gets a bit fitter and more into it he’ll start putting them away.
Just got in and am surprised that people are banging on about Silva. Except for a couple of through balls he was shite. Tom Cleverly was better. Silva the little ponce would not cut it at United or in the Premier league. simple as.
@King Eric
What did you make of Owen?
Did you hear the prats in the S End singing Michael Owen songs?
Or singing Valencia was better than Ronaldo?
Some people are so fucking stupid it’s untrue!
A lot of +’s from the game tonight, Valencia, Berba, Tosic, Cleverley, Da Laet, Rooney & Evra all enjoyed a good game tonight, as did Fletcher.
Valencia I have to say was very very good, but looked a bit nervous at times I thought, so I don’t think we’ve seen how much he can do yet!
KEEP THE RED FLAG FLYING HIGH
valencia looking great on the wing.
Valencia was awesome today. I think this is just a glimpse of what we’ll be seeing this season. He has only played 2 games and needs his fitness levels to go up, still he’s lightning fast! He’ll flourish at an attacking side like Man Utd.
Owen did really really well to get into those great positions in my opinion. Unlucky not to score at least one goal. When Owen’s on he’s bound to get chances, that’s for sure. He always lurks behind the last defender and then pops up at the right time. I’m also glad he got a warm welcome at Old Trafford (that’s what the commentators at MUTV were saying at least…I wasn’t at the game).
What’s the deal with all those great youngsters we have!? They are fucking brilliant. Delaet played with a lot of confidence and so did Cleverly (love his name). They look so experienced and are not afraid to hold up the ball or take defenders on.
Micky – Thought he looked sharp mate and his movement off the ball was superb. The goals will come when it really matters. I am really positive about this coming season. We looked a decent side in the second half and once this team gels it will take some beating.
Perhaps I was a bit harsh on Silva.
Just read a vicious and nasty interpretation of Owen by Neil Johnston of The Independent
that seems completely out of whack with all the other reports I have read including here that he should be praised for his performance other than the actual finishing.
vvv.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/rooney-finish-points-up-owens-wasteful-ways-1767975.html
Very pleased with Valencia’s performances so far. He looks to be the genuine article. I can’t wait to see him after he has trained for a while at Carrington with the likes of Giggs and Scholes.
If you watch Antonio Valencia’s stride while outpacing the defenders, it’s breathtaking. His accelleration was awesome, he can still cross the ball beautifully while running at that pace.
Scott start a poll: who will have more assists this season? Valencia or Berba?
jcolas
if valencia keeps crossing like that he will have highest assists in the league.berba will be 2nd for me.
valencia is proving to be a great signing and he will prrove himself as the season goes on.
what a great move by berbatov for the second goal…look at the way he jumped in order to let the boy score -what a genius – sheer class :p..
i wonder how come there are no comments like that
in all honesty – how did he do ?
cROoney
berba s usual was sheer class,some quality first touchesa nd audacious flicks that only Berba can do,but itg was more of a cameo from him.
but he will be immense this season
“some quality first touchesa nd audacious flicks” – hopefully he’ll do more than that in the upcoming season
CROoney
that was just in 20 mns that he played.we all knw his class .i will be happy wid 20 odd goals and 12-13 assists.his ball holding ability is great
CROoney
berba scored too but it was wrongly ruled out for off side.looked onside to me.
.i will be happy wid 20 odd goals and 12-13 assists.his ball holding ability is great – well who wouldn’t man…it’s what i expect from him…he has to improve from his last season…maybe 10-11 assists but definitely 20 goals minimal…that’s at least what we can require from the most expensive purchase in our history right ? cos people seem to forget that-
he did fine last season – fine for, oh let’s say 18 to 20 million pounds player….but he has to live up to his price tag – he just has to
btw – who cares for his ball holding ability – it’s not what we’re desperate for – we need goals
pleased with valencia and de laet not sure about Owen though he also missed a similar chance against bayern. His finishing must be better if he wants to succeed at united
@Micky
Please tell me the S End weren’t singing bad songs about Michael Owen? sure he used to be a dipper, but the lad is going to score 20+ for United this year, his finishing may have been off point last night, but once he finds his rythm he is going to be hard to stop!
cROoney
i m not bothered too abt his ball holding ability but to be fair carrick and scholes have been giving the ball away too easily of late.thats why fergie played berba in a deep role against porto and we retained the ball easily credit to him.he made a big difference in the 2nd leg.in a big european away game fergie may do the same thing again.
my predo
berba 23goals+12 assists
rooney 28goals+10 asssists
owen 18goals
macheda and welbeck 10 goals
nani and valencia have looked good so thy can get 20 goals between them easily.
@Muggaz
No, they weren’t singing bad songs, they were signing good songs..
Surely he needs to earn it, especially being an ex-dipper?
Maybe it’s just me being a twat, but I didn’t join in a single Owen chant – he needs to earn it first.
Also, the ‘That boy Valencia makes Ronaldo look shite’ is just fucking stupid because clearly he doesn’t! I still respect Ronaldo – yes, he was a twat sometimes – but he’s kept a dignity about him after going to RM, and I thought United fans in the S End would respect that.
micky
good morning mate.
how was the match yesterday night. enjoyed it?
valencia is a cracking signing.he has better skills to beat a man than ronaldo and has incredible pace and stamina.
as for owen,i m sure hell bang them in but he got into some good positions.
what a cross from valencia, what a finish from rooney wazah, those were wonderfull crosses he made since he joined united and that sends msg’s to rivals funs.ie Arsenal, chelsea, liverpool.etc
Owen will shine let come on sunday while playing against chelsea on community shield. Don’t complain over him please, that match was consisting 11 players on each side and its not possible for each player to score.
UNITED FOREVER / OLD TRAFORD / RED DEVILS.
Valencia is a wonderful signing but theres no way he makes Ronaldo look shite.
And Micky I am not saying you are a cunt but there isn’t really a need to criticize the fans just for supporting one of our own.
Boys is was a bit of fun.
aig alex is god ,- no way man – he was crap against porto and inter…he was crap in pretty much every big game last season…hopefully he improves though
@Micky – he kept dignity by saying I knew I was off after the Moscow final right ?
Also Ronaldo only kept his dignity this summer simply because he got his own way with the move he wanted, when he did not get his “dream” move last summwe he behaved like a spolit child.
@CROoney
i think that is SAF’s fault and he has said that he played him in the wrong position last season.this season SAF has said that he will play Berba up top where he played at Spurs and not deep like he did for United.
so i have very high hopes from Berba for this season
@five
Like I said, I’m well aware it might just be me being a cunt, but I just thought it’s a bit early to start chanting Owen’s name! When his name was read out in the line-up, I cheered, but there’s no way I’m chanting ‘Michael Owen is a Red’ because I’m not convinced he is!!
@CROoney
Again, I did say Ronaldo acted like a twat at times, but you can’t fault him since he actually left. He kicked off a bit because he wanted to leave and didn’t let him. I’d do the same if I wanted to leave my company and my boss said no!
He is not working for a company he was under contract from a football club, he could not just give a weeks notice and say “cheerio” using that analogy simply is not right the situation was completly different.
He was under contract last summer and behaved like a spoilt little kid last summer and was not much better throughout the season, when he got his move then he was all very courteous, my MD’s child is like that when she does not get what she wants, tantrums if she isn’t allowed something then all sweetness and light when she does.
Anyone got a link to extended highlights?
micky mate
how wass yesterdays experience.
you said yesterday’satmosphere was nothing compare to Cl.which match had you gone to see in the champions league
i think the Barca match had the best atmosphere
@Stephen
I see your point, and I sort of agree with you.
Either way, my original point to do with Ronaldo was that sections of the crowd were singing ‘That boy Valencia makes Ronaldo look shite’ which is wrong for two reasons. 1) Ronaldo is far better than Valencia (currently at least). 2) Ronaldo is part of United folklore now and we should respect that. He scored in the CL Final !!
@Jig
Just watched them on YouTube
Type in ‘Man Utd 2 – 0 Valencia: 1st half extended’
Which will then give you the link to the 2nd half from there.
@AIG
It was good mate, bit disappointed in the atmosphere to be honest. I’ve been to loads of CL games, all of which have better atmosphere than any other games – probably due to the late kick off and people get to have drink before the game, plus the added importance.
I didn’t see the Barca game, but the 7-1 twatting of Roma had the best atmosphere I’ve ever experienced.
mivky
agree on ronny.i think we have to give him credit for what he did for us.
valencia hs to prove himself at the top level yet.these were just friendly matches.i have and will always respect ronaldo.he was special.
as for the Roma game,my word it was a cracker.the way we got out of the blocks changed the mood in the crowd.
remember looking at Totti’s face after the match.ha ha ha
Micky, I do see your point mate but it was just a bit of fun and probably gave a new signing a bit of a lift, playing in front 25,000 one minute then playing in front of 74,000 in a friendly the next must be somewhat unnerving!!
sorry micky i typed your name wrong there.by mistake
Cheers Micky
That CROoney is a misinformed part-timer… his comments seem to be constantly over-dramatised… @We HAVE to sign…’ , ‘Berba needs to justify his price tag…’ = absolute BOLLOCKS man! He WANTED to come, Spurs DIDN’T WANT to sell… that’s the only reason that price tag was high! Get over it and back your players or STFU!!
@crooney mate, actually we paid less money for berba. do u remember the saga? if spurs hav given a chance to talk to shity would hav been more. the price we paid for him is justified, if robbie keane worth25m on that time berba was far better than him so 30m was right. we all forgetting one think. he didnt do very well last season but did well. hope this season will b his season i mean very well. we should respect him. he choose us over berties money. tevez cunt had more praise than berba and wot he did for us? berba is a true red man
valencia is in good touch…….
Right now we need holding midfield players, that’s why we vale berba’s ability to keep possesion and pick the right pass he can drop back in the attacking third and be that player, once hargreaves is back he’ll be free to show his flair scooting the ball into whoevers damn net he pleases
manutd4eve – what do you mean what tevez did for us ? certainly more than berba –
he moved to city – so what – he didn’t want to play under SAF anymore – he felt betrayed and that’s it
@The Zoran -listen kid – paying that kind of money is saying – “yes we think he’s worth it – we think you are worth all the crazy money they want for your services because we know you have to quality to pay it off
it says that no matter what’s the price we’re gonna get you cos you deserve it
he WANTED to come ? what a BULLOCKS! Benny McCarthy wanted to come from Porto too but did we decide to buy him ? No. Cos we thought he wasn’t good enough – and we clearly paid over the odds for berba cos we thought he is good enough, lad
and that’s why HE HAS TO IMPROVE
it’called an estimation of a good or poor business – ok Zoki ?
