VIDEO: The Final Three Minutes

I wonder how many times I have to think of, talk about or watch footage of this before I become numb enough to this that it stops making me feel like I’m going to cry every time.

Great footage from a great angle.

    Righ Here Goes

Can Manchester United score? They always score. Beckham…….In towards Schmeichel……its come for Dwight Yorke,Cleared….Giggs with the shot
SHERINGHAM name on the trophy (i never understood that one)
As things stand we will go into extra time with a golden goal hanging like a massive shadow over this final unless Ole Solskjaer can find another….Is this their moment?
Beckham…… Into Sheringham….. AND SOLSKJAER HAS WON IT! Manchester United have reached the promised land, Ole Solskjaer, and the two substitutes have scored the two goals in stoppage time and the Treble looms large. . . . History is made, Manchester United are the Champions of Europe again and nobody will ever win a European Cup final more dramatically than this. Champions of Europe, Champions of England, the FA Cup holders, everything their hearts desire. United fans will ask where did you watch the 1999 European Final? Where did you see Ole Solskjaer win it with virtually the last kick of the final?

  20. MG says:

Letting Teddy Sheringham go so early was a mistake – of course the gaffer knows that

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was is and will always be the darling of this club

Collina was a ref that had everything – he was pure class

That match was incredible and I missed it because I had gone to see my then girlfriend – who now is my wife

    : )

But my brother phoned me at 2.15 in the morning in the hotel I was staying in and as soon as the commentator said Schmiecal’s name I knew we had won.

I’ll never forget that week or so – The Spurs match for the premiership – Newcastle in the FA cup and then Bayern Munich.

Roll it on – let’s do it all over again

  21. buytheclub2012 says:

i broke the wooden wall from a pub room ,didnt forget that night for rest of my life.

  24. portugueseprincess says:

@GHTT, very good try. That’s special, I get goosebumps

  25. CroneKills says:

    wow… just wow.

  26. 90+Until We Score says:

    @GHTT

    Salute sir……

  27. Red Devil Canuck says:

Definitely one of the greatest football moments ever for me. It’s one of those moments where you remember where you were, what the weather was like, everything’s so clear.

  28. CJ7 says:

Magic. You have love the way David May gets himself into so much footage from this and he didn’t play a minute in the whole thing.

  29. edwin says:

    Magical

  30. Drew Vader says:

    All together now….

    You are my Solskjaer

  31. Mickjk says:

What a video. Helps to know what it was like to be there. I’m glad GHTT posted that transcript cause that’s a commentary that I’ll never forget. Ahhhh that feeling. Electric.

  32. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Thats what i love about the germans they make beating them so much easier (and more enjoyable). A huge ammount of big mouthing, showing off, confident airian strutting but when they are close to be being beaten, how many are lying down in the penalty area. How many United players were lying down in the last minute against Barcelona when we lost the final. Easy none we fight to the end. Bayern beat themselves. Very very german.

  33. Indy says:

I’ve got hairs sticking up and tears coming down my eyes. Scott, what have you done to me!

  34. Balaji says:

Nou Camp ’99 – As a teenager, realized i had witnessed something really special but too young to fully appreciate it

Manchester ’07 – Never have i felt a pain so sharp, felt a loss so big as i did when Solskjaer announced his retirement.

Moscow ’08 – Realized for the first time that i could feel so many emotions…broke my Tv remote when ronaldo missed, elation so big that it felt my heart would burst when terry missed, cried my heart out when vds saved and drunk afterwards till i lay senseless.

And never would i die without stepping inside the Theatre of Dreams! One day….

    M.U.F.L

  35. doubletrouble says:

The day we won can honestly say i cried and up to this day when watch the footage and hear the commentary i get emotional and tear up smh

  36. Androo says:

It is one of the MANY moments which sum up our club. It is also why Manchester United went from one of the biggest clubs in world football to THE biggest club. Period.

  37. Macheda is GOD says:

what the fuck i saw this a few days ago lol

  38. torontored says:

Danced down Wembley Way in 68 – danced half naked in my living room in Toronto with 3 half naked women when whiteside scored, was asked how much is needed to get as drunk as I was in 99 – had a fight with an ex US marine in 08 in La Union, Philippines
When you see that and remember – you just say to yourself – Thank God I am from Manchester and a United fan – we do not give up easy

  39. McQueen says:

Amazing footage, never seen it from this angle before.

@ MG – You missed it?!!!! What the hell man, you must really love this girl. How can she expect you to see her on the night of a champions league final? Shit man, I’m sure she would’ve understood!

  40. Bishopville Red says:

Sir Matt’s 90th birthday too. “goosebumps” and “chilling” aren’t strong enough words.

    SB

  41. Red_Till_Im_Dead says:

Best 3 minutes of extra time ever! Brings me back to memories of a Winchester sitting room where i watched the final.

Still makes me jump around and scream like a little girl :D

  42. Ash says:

Best moment in our club history along with the terry penalty miss.I have to say we should have won the champs league more times. But we have always performed consistently in the europe.Best club in the world.Hope we do a treble again this year, Hey why a treble why not quadruple.
    UNITED FOREVER

  43. Marq says:

Wonders if we ask anyone on the streets to choose between watching this 3 min clip or the box office hit “Blue Moon Sinking”, which will come out top :)

  44. Scorp says:

One of the defining moments and our best !!!

I so wish we can do it all over again, lets relive that year again SAF.

  45. redstar says:

3 minutes of video to turn grown men into a bleary eyed, goosebumped, wreck, love it.

  46. Zulu-Malta says:

    Oh bloody hell……..
After all these years this event still make my eyes watery and it still gets xivers down my spine !

1999 was the best year of my life. I was soooo happy that summer………..

How I wish to relive another TREBLE !!!

  47. MG says:

    McQueen

I had to go a very long way to see my then girlfriend

She is my wife now – coming up to eight years – so in a way it was worth it

I missed the match and where I was in the world they never had it on – but that is a memory which will live with me forever – when my brother and sister were going nuts on the other side of the phone that we just scored 2 goals in about a minute and then so in extra time – I had all the emotions that every one else felt – it was just that I had not seen how it had happened.

You live for such moments – marrying the girl that I missed the CL final for means I have a son who proudly wears the shirt.

    For United

  48. ooh ahh bring back Cantona says:

I read the comments before i watched the video and i was thinking yeah it was amazing but its not gonna make anyone cry they must be talking shite. Then i watched the video, instantly the hair on my neck stood up and by the end i was crying like a baby. There are no words for that nite

  49. YorYor says:

20 years down the road, it will still be the same feeling. This will never change and will never go away.
Which reminds me. I should go find the whole match to keep it for my son to watch in time to come.

  50. invertedquestionmark says:

    Oh the irony…

  51. denton davey says:

I thought that this referred to today’s last three minutes !

Like Svennis would have said, “first 90 minutes good, last three minutes not so good”.

  52. Wazza says:

Sadly, the turn of events today suit the title “The last three minutes” but imply a different story.
    Gutted.

  53. msalim says:

On the offensive side we enjoyed their play and the goals. But, playing against a team like Everton, on their groung, you should be very vigilant in defence till the last second. Sir Alex keep doing the same mistake again and again. Scholes and Giggs cannot play 90 mins. Oshea is below standard. In the past we have lost lots of valuable points due to the wrong decisions taken by Sir Alex. When you are winning by 3 to 1 and you have few mins to go, you reinforce your defence and you keep the ball the maximum possible. Losing 2 points like this is very painful for all of us. Sir Alex! you should not hesitate to spend and get a good defensive midfield player. Otherwise, am afraid we will finish the season without a single trophy.

  54. irishredmufc says:

    unreal

  55. catotraa says:

Absolutely unbeliveable. You wouldn’t belive this, it could not by any means have been more epic. All the stories ppl tell about that night. Like how the officials went in to put Bayerns banners to the pokal with 4 mins remaining, and when they came out again they didn’t get a fuck. Bayern-players crying and United-players cheering xD

Also, think about how Giggs said 4 minutes left he taught they lost 4 minutes later he was on top of the world. How the fuck do you think the Bayern Munchen-players felt? xD I’d been suicidal. But then again, playing United is a pain in the ass. Why? Becaus we never say die, we always belive!

    ‘Manchester United always score’
