If you were looking for things to write about, here are a few suggestions:

    1) Last season, we used to finish off matches in the first half. This season, we seem to get going only in the second half. Too often.
    2) This year, our attacking has been based on changing from defense to attack in about 5 seconds. Awesome tempo. It requires excellent quick passers also. And i think we have loads of them. But do you think that, this game can be nullified effectively in europe?
    3) Rooney is the ONLY player in the squad who can change things around by SHEER DESIRE. Ronnie & co can do so with their footballing skills. Yes. But not by force of will.

true, but rooney needs to put his demons behind him and join the party. The only way united will take there home form to the away grounds across the country is rooney to rediscover his form he is an excellent player with extra ordinary ability ,sheer will and desire. But at the moment he is playing by sheer desire, not evening things out.

Come may whether we have silverware will depend on how rooney carries on from here.If he can find the sort of form that saw him score in seven consecutive times in the league his best run.He should find some way of getting his confidence up infront of goal. You could see that burning desire, confidence when he was scoring for kicks.

I believe fergie holds then key hope he can re ignite whatever flame in rooney that is going out even if it means shocking him out of this form.

Hope we do well on Sunday without him.I would luv it if we hammmered city to get our grove back.G.G.M.U

Given the present personnel, Rooney has to be the lead striker and his willingness to wander all over the pitch is sometimes counter-productive.

More worringly, however, is the predeliction for Rio (and Vidic, but less so) to simply punt the ball upfield. Only Ronaldo is tall enough to make anything out of these long punts – the other forwards (Giggs/Nani, Rooney and Tevez) are small and not back-to-the-goal attacking players. LouisLouis HaHa can do that but now seems to be a forgotten man.

I would like to see Rio given more instruction to carry the ball into the attacking zone – he ALWAYS creates consternation among the opponents when he does so. Having a defensive “shield” like Hargreaves (or Carrick) can compensate for Rio’s forward forays – so can Wesley.

Given the small stature of most of the attacking players, punting the ball upfield is a foolish waste of possession. Even with tall, target-men like Drogba or Adebayor or Kenwyne Jones these long balls almost never succeed.

Keep control of the ball and play it along the floor – it works for Argentina ! And, it would work better for Argentina IF they didn’t fill the middle of the pitch but had some width but that’s another story and Dunga showed us last summer !
