Not too pleased with the performance but I’ll take the 3 points. Also worth noting is that United is the only team in the champions league that has the maximum 12 points after 4 games. Not too bad after all.
Chicho’s thinking, “Hmmm, I just juked the keeper. I think I’ll touch it 4 more times even though I should shoot right now. I know, I’ll pass it to myself off of a defender’s leg after a hard tackle from another defender. The ball will bounce right back to me and I’ll kick it off of another defender’s leg as I sit on my bum”.
Yeah, that’ll work!
Our new Van (rvp)reminds me of our Old Van(rvn)
11 goals in 14 games for Van Persie not bad.
Chicha Last 6 games : 5 goals
if we include his international games last 8 games: 7 goals.
Not a bad tally.
Alex Ferguson has been incredibly lucky in the Champions League. We could have easily been in a similar position to last season. This diamond thing is such nonsense. The players look lost and when we go back to a 4-4-2 we just win.
Robin Van Persie just oozes class.
Javier Hernandez has improved technically his first touch looks much better.
Chicharito should be shot for the appalling manner in which he set about trying to destroy a golden chance for a goal. That he got it in the net and thus retrieve the situation is beside the point. It’s this kind of crap football that was responsible least season for United blowing so many games. Van Persie is so technically gifted that you can guarantee he would have slotted the ball away with ease off his first touch of the ball. He’s in a class of his own when it comes to the other strikers at United.
As for the referee, I have never in my life seen a ref let as blatant a red card offense go by as the one where the Braga player delivered a first class kick to the back of Anderson’s head while going for the ball – it’s about as dangerous a play as they come and the fact he can claim he was going for the ball is no excuse. What did the guy have to do to get the red – kick Anderson in the face?
@timbo
I truly hope your writing this in jest, mate. Otherwise, your take on Chicharito deserving to be shot has to go done as the absolute most disgusting thing ever posted on this site.
Oops. Meant to say “you’re writing this in jest …”
and
“has to go down …”
Damn typos.
I also hope timbo was jus joking, because getting the ball into the net is the point. Hernandez doing whatever else before that, is besides the point.
Last season we did not lose because of poor finishing, the games we lost, we lost without any fight at all, don’t make it sound like we battered Newcastle, Blackburn, Everton, Wigan and City, and only lost because we couldn’t finish. We were in fact, battered by those teams
Strange goal for Hernandez, maybe he could have done a better job of it, but he’s got to beat the keeper, there’s two on the line and one more coming at him, not an easy chance at all. The disguised pass to him is a beauty, but it’s not ideally placed to shoot first time. Did well.
3-1 win away over a tricky side like braga is not an easy thing. And yet there are some genius here who criticize the team. Cheslea like they have been for past 12 months were so lucky to get 3 points. Like somesaid above we are the only team to win all the games so it is looking good. The problem it could lead to is we may face Real madrid if they don’t finish their group top. I would like MAnchester united to play with real madrid but not in round of 16. Maybe in semis or Final.
Overall quite satisfied with the result.
what part of Hernandez’ body will he use? @ss? or more crazier: groin? He’s an artist, hr knows his body.
Chicho’s goal looks easy on TV but in reality it is tough. You can’t just smash the ball coz it may rebounded of the defender then what. I won’t say he finished beautifully or something but this goal showed chicho has improved a lot and he a natural goal scorer. 6 goals he has scored this season and he is doing a great job. Also glad that Wayne rooney scored from spotkick. He needed that goal. Rooney of last season and RVP would be impossible to stop. A nightmare for other teams. Speaking of RVP. Man he oozes class. What a strike. For sure currently he is the best striker in european football.
forget that man rooney of this season feels better for me! more creative and defensive then he already is.
You would want to remember Hernandez’s first goal for us. That was what you called strange!
For Rooney’s penalty, the goalkeeper made it easy for him, already halfway to one side before Rooney was even near kicking it, still its just important that it was in
Not a great performance but we our strikers won it for us as did the change to 4-4-2.
On a plus, Smalling got a run out, Ferdy got a rest, Rafael needed a rest so part rest was good, RVP had a bit of a rest. I was a little surprised Giggs instead of Cleverly but Giggs passes forwards more and has a more attacking range and can still see a pass, old man did ok. More game time for Ando, he is beginning to step up a bit I think.
RVP – what can you say, the man is sublime. Would like to see Roon begin to score a bit more from open play and Pea’s confidence, all round game and poaching just get better. You can see Pea, RVP and Rooney love playing together.
On a negative, sad to see Welbeck’s decline from last season, maybe it was the style of play but he also seems shot for confidence and has lost his swagger – intimidated by RVP? Also Nani, he is really struggling, it’s like he is trying to start but its just not happening. Also Evan, again problem dealing with pace, he is no master Vidic who is the master of the sly foul.
Onward – top of 2 leagues, going to nail down Villa.
Also I though De Gea looked more assured, SAF giving him a consistent run seems to be paying off. He has also definately bulked us way more.
Decline? How can a player that’s only having his second season at the highest level be declining? He’s not in form but the talent is there.
I don’t think Welbeck is in decline. Raw talent, yes, workrate, yes, but his form and finishing have been woeful. I’ve lost count of how many chances have been put on a plate for him to squander.
Chicharito, in contrast, has been in fine form, despite having less minutes. He’s also been way more composed in front of goal, and his all round game has been upped. That’s what you call a striker.
I’m not intending to start a war over who’s better, because they have different skill sets, but at the moment, I’d start Hernandez, without a doubt.
If I’m not mistaken, this was Rooneys first goal for us this season! All three strikers scoring!
Playing Welbz down the left just isn’t suiting him! And as to those who think he is “declining” just wait. He is being played out of his natural position! Give him time! He’s gonna be special!
Maybe his first penalty but rooney scored against stoke, and probably scored another one im forgetting.
SAF’s request been fulfilled, now he can play the young lads instead for the 2 other games, knowing that whatever happens Utd will finish top
Rooney scored a double against stoke. This was his 3rd goal. RvP has scored 11 goals. Chicharito has scored 6 goals. Come jan it will improve more.Hope danny also gets his scoring boots on.
Welbeck would benefit if he played in his natural position for once this season, you know…
Anyway, brilliant finish by RVP.
As it is now, Hernandez earns his spot beside Rvp if Rooney is going to play in midfield more.
The keeper made a bad call, but it was still a brillant finish from Rvp. Give him a chance like that and he seems to gobble it up. If he stays injury free, no reason he can’t get the golden boot this year
Morning Reds! You?
Pretty chuffed to get a win after the appallingly lazy first 80 minutes.
Bad news, both Evans and Nani picked up knocks. Evans in the collision for the pen call. Not a pen in my view, but all righted with Rooneys eeeeeerrrrr skillful? wrangling for his call.
Ref was completely out of his depth. Where do they get these lads from. The unemployed dock workers guild? No offense to dock workers intended
As Phelan and Giggs said, we were sleep walking and the injury to Evans, plus the lights failure were godsends. Rio picked up the pace and Robins class were all that was needed. Have to feel for Nani, didn’t shine at all in my view, front of the man who discovered him. Hope he wakes up as well.
But you lads need to buck up. You are reds and this is what our lot is. We leave it late. That’s our DNA. Not good for your heart? P*ss on that. We’re ManUnited! We do as we like!
As to the question of Rooneys goals
2 in the league (v Stoke)
That was the first in the CL so now total of 3 on the season. Bobby Charltons record starting to look out of reach if Roo keeps up these numbers. Not saying he is playing badly, actually the opposite. He has a new role playing deep and being a creative mid, a 10 in a diamond.
If he could just settle on the pens he would do alright for goals. Even last nights was bungled. He slipped last second. Look close. It was actually another failure by the ref as technically the ball moved off his left foot. But water under the bridge. Don’t need to criticize the ref in the end because we got the points.
80 minutes of mouse, 20 minutes of pure devil!
We’re Manchester United! We do as we…
I beg to differ ala welbeck. He’s on good form, not the best but so what? Neither is Rooney or Hernandez. Last night poor showing was not his fault. Tactics were a bit iffy and the whole squad looked liked they just wanted to go home- up until RVP put us level.
Danny is a top player having a good season. Much rather see him on the left than Rooney that’s for sure.
RVP arrival changes things somewhat and the lad has to adapt and if you ask me he’s doing a fine job. Supreme ball control, fantastic link up with teammates, never flustered on the ball and always trying something when he’s passed the ball in a tight corner.
I guess he’d be more appreciated, God forbid RVP goes down clutching his knee and is out for weeks. TBH its clevs I’m most disappointed, but he too has time on his side
Nice win last night, this time bragas reluctance to pay electricity bills worked against them, now we can ease through to youngsters without pressure….
Even mrs bebe will get games under his belt afterall….
The weirdo scorer added one unusual goal to his list of awkward strikes…
I’m really impressed with way rooney, he’s really responded well to his critics, (talking of critics) the bashers were in full swing lastnight but as soon the boys got back into it and equalized the guys who acted like caring and worried took one rapid short cut way outta the blog couldn’t even praise the prolific dutchman as if they were pissed their party was cut short, which I find disgraceful
If you can’t stick with it through bad time you should aswell fuck off during good times
Gary neville summed it well, writing us off at this stage is kinda harsh and considering we had our second string team out vs a team that needed a win to remain init I find it utterly annoying our fans didn’t take fucking long to write us off
I mean really, a great barca side was defeated last night by a not soo good celtic side on paper, but last night they really brought it to them, and we know song should have got sent off but no one is writing them off, is it surprising?
Let’s just support the team through bad and worse, surely negativity is not good for ones health.
As the red the devils keeps marching on on on!!!
Nice game, they really deserve the win
RvP is class. I think he will be contendor for Ballon d’ or. Honestly at the moment I would pick RvP over Ronaldo. And Im glad to see Hernandez at his best.
Think Robin van Persie’s goal deserves a shout for goal of the month as it is drop jaw class?
Does the man need to stand with his chest out and look all Cantona to get a wave?
I would realy like to read Admin’s analysis of this game. Quick reactions PLEASE
Sir Alex Ferguson: Manchester United aiming to match Liverpool’s European record: Following his s… http://t.co/CvYKh3Jk
bayoRed. Will only happen IF we get EPL and CL AND RvP is crucial. But it would be class. Love to see StevieMe’s reaction if Robin rapped up one season with United with 1 EPL, 1CL and the Ballon! Never like bragging on future results, as it is utter tosh, but your comment made me think of poor ol Stevie and that pathetic excuse for a club. Not on history, but on recent history.
You have to walk the talk, and all ‘pool have is talk
That guy wanyama oh boy, what a player, he almost outclassed xavi, he was always on iniesta’s shoulders whenever he got near a ball
he nullified everyone barcas attempt at passing the ball to their talisman ‘messi’ by intercepting, closing the passing lines and starting counterattack
s
He’s skillful and brave enough to really be a success at united
Hopefully the reports are well founded
Once Rafael came on our right side clicked well and proper. We upped our ante enough to win. RVP’s goal and celebrations were absolutely joyful. Not sure about both penalties though. Evans one was no way a pen, I’m unsure about the rooney one too – need to see it again. Was that a pen guys?
I’m putting my money on this united side pipping Chelsea to the title. Chelsea have a good attacking side but are lacking depth. Even if we dont win EPL will will be therabouts i.e semifinal.
van persie is the real deal
And RvP & Rooney will be making waves all the way.
One positive was the return of Smalling, very good in the air and i still dream of Smalling&Vidic combo, watch this space ! ! !
Welbeck will feel like he’s the one not invited to the party with the other strikers making and creating goals while he’s been on the bench or on the wing. In fact I prefer him on the bench than the wing as he just does offer anything from that position.
Great goal from RVP!!
I remember before the start of the season there were loads on here questioning our signing of RVP – where are them idiots now….come crawl out you cowards and confess your stupidity!!
Wanyama looks a good player. Especially him being in Celtic probably won’t cost a bomb. Good alternative to look at with questions marks over Fletcher still
Just want to note that both the first and the second goal started with Gigg’s crucial pass. He was getting slated yesterday but he’s the one that still creates lots of goal scoring opportunities.

Bobby Charlton’s combover says:
. “In fact I prefer him on the bench than the wing as he just does offer anything from that position”.
Absolutely disagree with your comment. Can’t see A player improving while sitting in bech. People should not put pressure on Dannhy welbeck. He is just 21 will turn 22 this month. So more he plays better he will become. Look he is competing with 3 other top class strikers so he will feel bit out of place but thats where he can improve on. Imagine if he plays regularly and starts scoring. That will boost his confidence and will take him into next level. It is just matter of time befor welbeck starts scoring goals.
The only time i’ve seen Welbeck consistently perform well from a wide position was at Sunderland. At United his best performances are definitely as an out-and-out striker.
But its still good experience for him to be on the pitch playing wide imo, its not like he can’t link up play and keep things ticking over – he just has less impact.
Lol @ Wanyama
If he hadn’t have scored last night would anybody even be suggesting him? Or am I missing something? At least I knew who Fellaini and Dembele were at the start of the season!
Van Persie is the true diamond, what a player!!!!
BTW no comment from me on Rooney’s penalty last night
But I will say (again) that HE is the most prolific… erm…. “referee decision winner” in our squad, regardless of the CRAP you read about our other lads, who are “easier targets”.
Just goes to show how pliable some people are – if Nani or Young (for example) won that exact same decision it wouldn’t be swept under the carpet would it?
Sky’s commentators would’ve laid into them live on air and we all know it, so im just glad that particular decision was won by big, bad, tough, no-nonsense Rooney.
Tbh he’s up there with Stevie Me’s when it comes to ” winning decisions” but im not fussed. At least this way we enjoy 3pts without accusations of bringing the game into disrepute.
Only those pesky foreigners Nani and Young are guilty of that, right? Hang on…
Rio and Vidic, Rio in particular is by the far and away one of the world’s best CD’s when it come to initiating attacks. Evan, Phil and Smalling just do not have Rio’s passing range and vision yet and the ability to play forward and spark attacks and also help control the pace of the game from the back the way he does. Hopefully someone will develop that. Rio is just an absolute phenomenal defender, at his peak he was the best in the world IMO and is still one of the best.
we thank wenger for realeasing van persie so we kill the gunners
