VIDEO: Welbeck’s Brace For England U-21

Tom Cleverley and Jack Wilshere combined to set up Danny Welbeck for his first goal against Lithuania, before Aston Villa’s Marc Albrighton made it 2-0, before Welbeck finished off a good day for England U-21 to make it 3-0.

modest opposition but class finishes, both of them. nice build-up for both goals, too. i really hope Welbeck gets and grabs his chance at Sunderland. with all the recent talk about Cleverly and, to a lesser extent, Macheda, it’s wicked to see another bright prospect doing well.

There the boy Danny. Good work from our young lads this week.

  3. Scarfo says:

That’s more like it from Welbeck, although I’m nervous about talk of the number of chances he missed. He’s not going to get as many chances against Chelsea as he does against Western Bugravistad U7s or whoever.

  4. Toby says:

good finish and awareness for the second goal, many players would have just swung at it with their left foot.

Smalling in the side as well. Nice shift from United players all around. Stuart Pierce must
be pleased about the end result, but my o my, they missed a load of chances. Could have been 7-0 or more.
First goal from Danny was nicely crafted. Question, Who set the long low ball in to start the move for Danny’s second goal? Was it Smalling? Didn’t get a good view on my feed.

Well done Danny. Wellbck is a class act. Great touch, good technique, good awareness and a top finisher. Alot more beef on him now. And he is ONLY 19. This lad has a great future. Hugely underrated.

  7. King Eric says:

Gotta say. I have been impressed from what I have seen of Jordan Henderson.

FletchTHEMAN……no it was Bertrand or summat. (no. 3)

i like welbeck, got backs of ability……..and a local lad aswel. go on lad!

  9. FletchTHEMAN says:

    whiteside85 thanks for that. Cheers.

  10. Welbz19 says:

Yes get in Danny, well done!
@king Eric ur right about Henderson if he played for one of the top clubs the press would be full of praise for him, he’s gonna be quality!

Lads, You will love the read from the Guardian. If you are looking, Danny got a mention at the very bottom, you might need a mag glass to find it. What a disgrace!

Just looking great for Danny with out being malicious i hope Darren Bent gets a wee injury so Danny is not played just in the Carling Cup and lesser meaningless games like against Chelsea and Le Arse etc

  13. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Wellbeck is one im very excited about. Im glad hes out on loan and been hopefully given the chance to play regularly. I think the boy is the next RVN, hes quick, good in the air, quick with his feet and a natural finnisher. I doubt Owens contract will be lengthened after this year and his place will be up for grabs between Wellbeck and Chicarito. Its looking bright for United

  14. Always Be Closing says:

Glad to see so much young talent from a variety of clubs all happy and fluid together. Cleverley, Smalling and Welbeck there are great to see, great that they’re getting games together – Wilshere’s looking good, shame he’s Arsene’s new altar boy.

  15. Keanesmagichat says:

Danny will do well for Sunderland, Lee Cattermole said Danny turned the game when he came on Against cit-eh….
    Henderson looks a.fine player…

  16. King Eric says:

Fletchtheman – Hello mate. That guardian report is laughable. It says Wilshire was fucking dropped till the second half and made ONE pass yet he gets all the plaudits at Danny’s expense. Sick of the media licking the little cunt’s arse.

  17. willierednut says:

@ goat That’s high praise indeed, i don’t personally see welbeck in the same league as RVN, but he does have talent.

  18. Kingabdullah says:

the best of our young strikers…by far

  19. ImranL says:

From the guardian report that someone posted a link too… “The Manchester United forward was voted man of the match but this was Wilshere’s day.” … right… how does that work then??

  20. denton davey says:

    King Abdullah @ 17:19

You’re joking, right ? Danny Welbeck is not now – nor ever will be – in the same league/class as KikoTheKid, who has the attributes to be something really special. When SAF speaks about Macheda, he has to wipe the drool off his chin !
