Sir Alex Ferguson has today confirmed that Nemanja Vidic and Chris Smalling will be fit for the start of the season, although Jonny Evans is likely to be missing for the first few weeks as he recovers from an operation.
“Evans has had an operation,” he said. “I’m not sure he’ll start the season but he won’t be far away. Vidic will start the season. I am sure of that. He’s still at that level of doing a good amount of training but not the competitive level that the other lads are at. He’s better off staying at Carrington. Smalling has done a bit of training. He had a ruptured groin muscle which needed a lot of attention but he’s made gradual progress and we expect him to start the season.”

Man Utd News 24/7

Great news. Hopefully our lads can stay fit throughout the season.
Already an injury crisis in our defence.
I hope one of those two is ready for the Everton game. Ferdinand-Jones isn’t an ideal partnership and Phil might have to play at right back anyway.
Great News! Vida was sorely missed

HE’LL FUCKKINGG KILL YAAA!!!!!
Best news i’ve heard in a while Scott, cheers!!
Rio+Vida = yeah, fucking yeah!!!
Costas my man….
Sir Alex has just said in the press conference that Brady is going to tried at left back. He said because Evra is ‘touch wood’ never injured, Fabio has been loaned out to get some experience and hence Brady will be converted to a left back.
I just hope he means it for the tour only and not for the full season!!
Which means “no more signings”, if you ask me…
Lets hope this is the end of the injury jinx we suffered all season.
Mancini are you listening.
You better keep our Trophy glistening.
We’ll be back in May, to take it away.
Walking in a FERGIE wonderland.

jeet, No more signings at the back. However, I think it is still open-ended as far as MF is concerned. But when was the last time Sir Alex went on pre-season and we got a player after that. Berbatov was one but that was a saga, so there was no doubt it was going to be completed on 31st August. Apart from that, we haven’t had late signings in all eternity. Which would probably mean Sir Alex is going with the youngsters which means we get a different kind of excitement altogether.

Hope this hasn’t been posted before… Awesome video!
Balaji – aren’t you supposed to change your name (again) if we don’t sign a midfielder?
Though I avoid bets like the plague, but I am tempted to take on that one
…just to make it clear that in my book likes of Kagawa/Moura – i.e. terquartistas and wingers don’t count as midfielders

This video just gives me the chills. The Gaffer’s speech shows us that the fire is still there and he is not going away till he puts the noisy neighbors in their place. Last season was disappointing so lets do it right this time lads.
Smalling MUST play RB against Everton. good news. Rio, Vida, Evra and Smalling.
@Red Devil, Jeet
Hi lads. Taking the left back conversation to the appropriate new thread.
Luckily for United, we’re spoiled in that area.
Good morning guys!!!
Great news there to hear, we really missed the pillar of our squad..
That horrendous injury still plays on my mind
It really hurts to note that he was actually injured in the midle of the park while trying to get us back into the game
Brought this up yesterday. Still convinced a signing or at least a real promotion from within
3 CB’s out?! Only at United. UNBELIEVABLE.
Two of my favourites. Great news.
With vidic back we will once again rule the PL
