Gary Neville was sent home from Asia, Wes Brown was taken off through injury against Boca Juniors and Nemanja Vidic hasn’t had any pre-season.
Sir Alex Ferguson reveals that Wes and Gary are looking alright but we’re going to have to wait longer too see Vidic. He also reckons that Edwin Van der Sar could be out for longer than the eight weeks that were first predicted.
“Everyone is fit apart from Wes, Vidic and Neville,” said Ferguson. “Gary has done a bit of training, and he is coming along fine. And I expect Wes to be fit for the Birmingham match. Vidic is another week or two away and Edwin’s injury is a bad one. He’s out for 8-10 weeks, of course. So my first selection dilemma for Sunday is in goal.”

Man Utd News 24/7

oh dear thats bad.i m worried mnore abt VDS because that means he will miss the arsenal, shitty and possibly lpool and chelsea.for those games we need experience and vds is required even though he had a dodgy at anfield last year.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWt4URt9Jc0& i hope there are quick recoverys because for the reserves last season on mutv to the pre season united have good young kids who can hold up and fill in but not for the full time first team
get well soon lads get back quickly
Suddenly a threat at the back?
Hardley. If we play with enough impetus against Birmingham they wont get near our goal.
Who gives a shite about Sundays game….really.
Yep.
1 i care about sundays game alot
2/ its all about the midfield holding there lines
we’ll be right at centre back, jonny evans is more than capable of filling in. its right back where im slightly concerned, do you go with a dodgy brown/neville or rafael, or even throw delaet into the melting pot on the first day of the season?
7seagulls
fabio did excellent in right back in the pre season
we have players good enough to cover for the injured players. So there is no need to worry. VDS injury as bad it is could be a blessing in disguise cuz it will give us the perfect platform to integrate Foster as first choice goalie.
morning ghtt..how would u like us to line up on sunday?
me myself would go with someone like… foster, da laet or fabio rio evans evra, valenica carrick flecther nani or tosic, rooney owen
flecther because he breaks up play more and gets into the box more, owen because i think he will give there defence all sort of problems, take him off at half time and swap him for berbatov … let both have 45 mins!
Bad news but better having him out at the start of the season rather than the christmas period or the run-in.
We should be alright for cover as Jonny Evans has had a full season (almost) under his belt now, although I still dont think his passing is up to much.
jack
my team
foster,o shea rio, evans, fabio, park gibson scholes nani macheda berba.
that wud be my team .we have to ensure we dont get injuries and these rubbish international matches are coming up in midweek,i dnt want the players to play 3 games in 7 days at the start of the season itself
sort of agree with you jack, after their performances against valencia id like carrick and fletchinho to be our first choice cm partnership, valencia on the right and take your pick of tosic or nani on the left. rooney berba up front.
if fabio was good at right back then hed be my first choice, let the experienced defenders recover for the real season
i care A LOT about sunday’s game. It’s important, and besides,we’re playing chelsea!so just like Sir Alex, said, there’s the pride factor too.Really wanna see Vidic back, but luckily he’ll be back soon.VDS is impt for those big games,so in that sense,it’s troubling that he’ll be out for nearly 8 wks.but Foster and Kuzscack are capable too.Oh Brown, hope he stays injury free this season.
Whoever scheduled the mid week international three days before the season starts needs to be shot.
Dont worry we got O’shea between the sticks forget the other 2.
I think Fergi will start with
Foster
O’Shea Ferdinand Evans Evra
Fletcher
Valencia Carrick Nani
Berbatov
Rooney
But in saying fans would see a different pattern this season, i won’t be surprised seeing him start Macheda and Berbatov, Anderson and Park, cos their internationals aren’t that close…who knows?
