Many thanks to all of you who took the time to read my 50-year-old memories, and for the kind comments. I really should make them shorter, but once I start things I'd forgotten just start coming back.

A special greeting to Chrispiano in my old school. Who'd have thought 50 years ago we'd be in communication across the generations like this. I hope there are as many heated arguments now as there were 'in my day'. Then it was about whether Peter McParland should have been sent off in the 1957 FA Cup Final, and whether Nat Lofthouse fouled Harry Gregg when scoring his second in the '58 Final. The answer in both cases is Yes, obviously.

Fianlly a big thank you to Scott for giving space to my ramblings and inviting me in the first place. Brilliant make-over, Scott, as I believe you young'uns call it!

Thank you Mr. Oakley.
Its absolutely wonderful to hear your experiences. And in some way, I feel privileged to have heard them. I only wish I was there then to have to seen those legends play.
And thank you Scott for sharing these brilliant pieces of writing. I personally prefer these a million times to small gossip or gags about other teams (not that you do :)

just saw the goal highlights.. at 1:20 i think berba should have tried for a shot instead of cutting back to rooney.. i do think he is still a little apprehensive on taking shots. hope he gets over this soon as we dont want him to turn into another rooney on the wings during ronaldo's last season, being more of a provider than blasting it into the net like we all know he's capable of!

superb passing for that attack, valencia to rooneys through-ball = words cant describe how beautiful is was, and how many times i watched that part!

that was a relief, I was suprised united first half looked so tired when beating milan when it did not need great energy, the good thing now is we have a week. I thought the reason why united looked a bit ragged was the wide playes of valencia and nani were making the wrong decisions because rooney has benifited hugely from the service of the wide players when last year ronaldo and parks delivery last season was awful. Park I thought added a huge dimension and has had a far better season this season than last.

a well deserved goal for berba.. you could feel his disappointment on missing twice when he buried his head in his jersey the second time.. what better redemption than heading it in with style the third time eh? and that assist was just beautiful! how he keeps skipping past defenders still amazes me.

nani played well today although he kept trying to play difficult passes in the first half which always got blocked. but couldnt blame him much, seeing how fulham crowds the ball with 3-4 defenders every time. his corner kick from the left still needs alot of work, too low and and always cleared before posing any real threat. but as soon as i saw valencia taken off i was jumping for joy cos i knew he would be pushed to the right and sure enough an assist to his name!

park is providing solid left wing performance now, getting crosses into the box nicely. seems like our wings are balanced now with park and nani, and for them to be able to switch sides twice is really great to see in the team! i'd love to see them try that with valencia.

nev is just baffling. plays perfect long passes, but poor with short ones. seems like he doesnt have full concentration in the game at times. but with every game he shows more of what he is capable of providing to the team.

evra was like, 'hey nani if you can shoot into space so can i!' .. funny moment but apart from that rock solid.

and finally, a man utd game i went to watch with my mates that didn't end up with us losing! thank god for that!

Maybe it's just me but I thought Valencia had a torrid game. I was actually glad to see him leave the pitch. He has been brilliant in nearly every game he has played in but to be fair he was getting marked by 3 men in some points. Nani was also torrid in the first half but he improved in the second; just like against Milan.
