We Love You Rafael

Rafael da Silva

We love Rafael for…
1. Assisting Wayne Rooney’s goal.
2. Celebrating the assist as though he’d scored a goal himself.
3. Scoring a goal himself.
4. Dashing over to his brother to share the glory with him.
5. Getting stuck in whenever given the opportunity.

One of his best games in a United shirt. Well done, lad.

    MOTM. NFT.

  2. Fze123 says:

Love the brazilian twins. Rafael was quality today. Him and his brother will become big somethings in the future, no doubt.

Viva Da Silva, Viva Da Silva
When they’re on the pitch, don’t know which is which
    Viva Da Silva

  3. Brio The kenyan red says:

He’s on his way towards becoming a United legend.it just shows you what the future holds for United: real, world class footballing genius! WE LOVE YOU RAFAEL!!!!

  4. siggsigg says:

if only those two could stay fit

  5. sprite says:

Rafael and valencia is the future on our right side! Men of the match along with Rooney, cant decide who should have the MOTM though although valencia had one hell of a game

  6. Gudjohnsen says:

Nice to see the chemistry between the brothers. They are clearly very close. One of his best games so far, great work!

  7. grein says:

What a player and only 19 years old!

Him and Valencia were tearing it up tonight. They both deserve a MOTM award for their performance.

  8. bchilds says:

Rafael is fantastic when he doesn’t have to do much defending, a la Dani Alves. Training with/against top class players must benefit his defending. Both the twins have got bright futures ahead of them.

  9. Brio The kenyan red says:

Thank you Fergie for bringing them to UNITED.HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR FERGUSON ,HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.may fergie live for ever.

  10. Fze123 says:

Also thank God they chose to come to Utd instead of going to the Arsenal.

  11. abdullahnajid says:

going GaGa over the Da Silvas!!!

  12. lionell84 says:

Rafael and Fabio are both quality players with great futures! I always thought that it would be even better if they could play on the same wing, e.g. RW and RB. Just imagine the poor defenders marking two identical twins on the same wing!!

  13. kel says:

    2. Celebrating the assist as though he’d scored a goal himself.

I dont quite like it. It’s like taking away the credits from the scorer. I do think its good to show some heart that he is playing happily but i don’t quite to see it.

  14. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    Kel
With a cross like that he deserves as much credit as the scorer
Rooneys world class but he cant score if the ball doesnt reach him inthe spot it needs to be placed

  15. manchuchu says:

The overlapping wing play with Valencia was brutal.

If only it happened all the time.

Don’t put your notebook away Berbatov

  16. Rhystiano says:

    gotta love the Da Silva’s!!

  17. pawaka21 says:

maybe another so called telephatic understanding, ala becks-gaz during the heydey, now its valencia-rafael…..

    love them the twins

  18. Red phil says:

And when he’s out injured we have his fuckin twin!

  19. denton davey says:

Just to think – Fabio is supposed to be the better player !

  20. Swissdevil says:

i’ll say it in swissgerman: geile siech!!! hammer! in english: you’re amazing mate! so happy for him to score! really nice goals, unfortunately i couldn’t watch the game cos of telly problems..so.. but important are the three points!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR to ALL YOU DEVILS!!!

  21. Swissdevil says:

@ Brio the Kenyian: Hi Mate, isnt it a little too early to call him “a legend”? I think some UTD Fans are using the word “LEGEND” a little too often or easy….. I mean Eric or George were legends…

  22. grein says:

    @Swissdevil they still are. :)

  23. KVN says:

Great performance from The RAF and when you see him play with joy and a willingness to express himself you know we have someone special and his brother FAB will be play on Sunday I hope. Well done RAF and nice one SAF .

  24. Costas says:

Good to see Fabio celebating for his bro. Remember what happened whenever one of the Nevilles scored? The other would antagonize him! Lol!

  25. United Road says:

    yeah , we absolutely do..
off topic , i think owen desereved to be given a chance tonight.. bebratov’s form was disappointin once again despite scorin a goal.. owen should’v been given a chance against hull and tonigh as well..

  26. Tony Starks says:

United Road – couldn’t disagree more about your Owen comment.. There is no way that Owen would be getting involved in the play all over the pitch and putting those through balls as Berba was doing. I think Alex Ferguson is 100% right in going with the Rooney-Berba combination.. face it Owen is not going to be anything more that a bit part player, but a good one at that.

For sure he will start at the weekend and will probably feature against City..

  27. United Road says:

    ^^
i don’t disagree with SAF to start with berba and wayne , but i think berba shouldv’ came off after he’d scored , there was about 15 mins to play for owen to play , but instead we v seen Welbeck comin on… an important point about danny , he should avoid being selfish with the lads and be more collective , v seen paul scholse gettin pissed off before , and also wayne in tonight’s one.
off topic , there’s a chant being song alot recently , it sounds fantastic , as though they sing ” always hight an always high ” or somthin like that..
    any idea?

  28. Tonka Norris says:

The lads have noticably bulked up this year, which can only be for the good. Pity Fabio can only be a bit player – Evra is irreplaceable – unless we try him on the wing. Great prospects, both of them.

Anyone remember the Wallace Brothers? 3 of them played for the Saints. Man U bought one, and the joke down there was they bought the wrong one. Seems like getting the swaps does the trick :)

  29. droylsdenred says:

He deserved to celbrate that cross to Roo the speed to get that overlap done and then deliver a sweet cross was amazing. I had to watch it again to see when he actually came into picture!!

United starting to look good again..

  30. Macheda the Messiah says:

    We love you Raphael!

The amount of ground he covers to overlap Valencia for Wazza’s goal is incredible. When Valencia gets the ball, Rafael hasn’t even crossed the halfway line!! Puts G. Nev’s scampering in the shade!!!

  31. Red Devil says:

The young lad was absolutely fantastic today,
absolutely loved the way he ran almost 60-70 yards on the overlap.
As somebody said above, reminded me of the old Beckham-Gaz partnership on the wing. Now if only he could be a bit more consistent with his performances then he’d be great. I guess that’ll come with age and maturity though. For now, I can only applaud the young lad. Well Done :)

  32. United4eva says:

For me the best thing about Rafael is that he’s actually a right back. I’d forgotten what having one of those was like in the past couple of years. Wes Brown did a brilliant job in 07/08 and O’Shea was pretty good there in 08/09 but neither is a proper full back. Rafael gives us something we’ve sorely been lacking since Gary Neville first got injured in 06/07: Someone whose principle position is on the right side of defence and you see the difference in the width and options that gives us when we’re attacking down the right. For all their merits neither Brown and O’Shea play the touchline like Rafael does and his defending seems to be getting better too.

  33. parth312 says:

Well played guys!! That was without a doubt, the best game of the season. The lads played brilliantly. Berba is our official playmaker. The number of times he carve open the Wigan defence, simply amazing. Finally, the “Manchester United way” is back in our play..

  34. Skillster says:

Anyone know what Rafael was wearing under his shirt, you can see the blue sleeve, same as when he played against Hull.

  35. Corea says:

I was so excited when i saw Rafael on his debut game at OT against Juventus. What a player i thought at that moment. They are talented, they are young, they are our future. LEts all hope they won’t do a Ronaldo in a few year’s time..

  36. alinaabbamancesterutd says:

Rafael is getting exposure, very soo he will be d best in d world if he contineu playing d same as yesterday.CONGRATS BOY !!!

  37. giggs11gerrard0 says:

I loved the fact Rafael celebrated like he scored when he set up Rooneys goal. That is the difference between lads who love to play for United rather than their own self indulgence!

Ronaldo never celebrated with the rest of the team in particular winning in Moscow!

Its great to see young lads with passion for the game!

  38. Costas says:

I think Rafael weas a shoulder pad due to a problem he has had there. That’s what the blue thing must be.

I have noticed that the twins have bulked up a bit this season and that’s very good for them. I have been impressed with Rafa in the last two games. At this rate, he will make the right back berth his own this season.

  39. Swissdevil says:

@ grein: you’re absolutely right mate… sorry for the wrong expression..;-)

  40. Redrose says:

The move started when Wes intercepted in his own half and carried it forward – passed to Valencia – onward to Rafael – cross to the Roon and into the net.
But who was waiting at the far post in case it got through – Big, bad Wesley Brown, no less !

  41. UniTed-legEnd 11 says:

somehow people always thought fabio is going to be a better player than rafael because fabio IS the brazil young squad captain……..but i bet rafael yesterdays performance make them thinking again!!!!

  42. giggs11gerrard0 says:

@ UniTed-legEnd 11 Said, I Think it was Rafael who stated Fabio was better unfortunately for Fabio, Evra plays left back!

If I remember rightly Rafael was quoted saying fans will enjoy seeing Fabio he is a more attacking player than I am – Or words to those effects.

  43. RedHarry4Life says:

Just like to wish all fellow reds a Happy and wonderful NEw YEAR/DECADE.

Rafael was great last night. He put in some wonderful balls. He gets forward so well and Fabio is supoosed to be better. Can’t wait. They have had a bit of a rough time with injuries especially Fabio. He will have a harder time getting games due to fighting it out with the world’s best left back. But they have time on their side.

I think that they have to improve their defender but it is looking like they are.

  44. Kings says:

I hope they can both stay injury free.

  45. Giles Oakley says:

I think Fabio only plays left back because he can play on either flank whereas Rafael is much stronger on the right. Whatever, it would be wonderful if both could keep injury free for a while and give them a chance to get experience to help their development. I think they are fantastic prospects and I love the looks of joy on their faces as they play. Great to see Rooney praising Rafael after last night’s performance, suggesting he’s taking on the kind of ‘senior’ role older players have kept doing for the last 15 years or so. It’s how the United ethos gets passed on, and how team spirit is enriched. Anyway, after an uncertain first half to the season, perhaps the dark clouds have Da Silva linings!

  46. cantona7 says:

lol @Giles Oakley “perhaps the dark clouds have Da Silva linings!”

  47. Stretford End says:

haha number two is brilliant. He went mental. Great finish from the boy, thought he was excellent all night.

    Happy NY as well mate.
