Welbz: I’m Lucky To Have Rooney’s Advice

Danny Welbeck has sung the praises of his strike partner, Wayne Rooney, claiming that money couldn’t buy the advice he’s been given.

“I owe Wayne a lot,” said Welbeck. “He has been a terrific friend and a brilliant help to me. We have really forged a great partnership. And he is amazing during a game. He never stops yapping in my ear, telling me, ‘Daniel this’ and ‘Daniel that’. Wayne’s funny like that, he calls me Daniel on the pitch, even though most people call me Danny. Yet off the pitch it’s Danny or Welbz. Don’t ask me why. I’m so lucky he wants me to do well and is always trying to advise what’s best for me. You can’t buy that sort of insight. He knows what it’s like as a young player coming through in the Premier League and with England.”

Make the most of it Wellbz….have a feeling that you two might be split up soon……

  2. Mikekelly12 says:

    Tony
Have you heard we’re selling Welbz????

  3. CedarsDevil says:

Mike beat me to the question, not heard anything about Danny leaving

  4. Nawaaz Casoojee says:

Wayne Rooney is a great player and what sets him apart from the rest is his ability to play for the team rather then being just good individually. Over the years he has formed some great strike partnerships with Van Nistelrooy,Saha,Tevez,Berbatov and now Welbeck at United. Welbecks a great talent and so it can only benefit him to play alongside Wazza who has had similar pressure in terms of being a young English striker making it at a big club at United. Welbeck now has the chance to make an impact with England and I expect the two strikers to grow into a deadly duo for both club and country.

  5. Mikekelly12 says:

Annie Eaves reckons Pogba could be unveiled by Juventus as soon as Monday. Thank god that saga will be over with.

  6. Kings says:

Top lad. Gives me great pleasure seeing him score for United.

  7. slim says:

maybe Romney’s feeling like cranking up the ambitions-meter this summer.
    yummy,can’t wait

  8. PeteyRedRed says:

Next season I predict he will show us how much he’s improved in a big way. Great to see a young, born and bred, hungry Manchester lad playing for the club he loves, we’ve not seen that for a long time at OT, long may it continue.

  9. slim says:

pogba, nooooooooo. I’ll wait for the official story. it does feel a lot like the ravel will he,won’t he?

  10. zelh says:

    good riddance pogba.
not good enough to be the best in the reserves but wants 1st team football.

Does Petrucci fuck around? Fuck does he.

Thinks he can get ahead of Vidal, Pirlo or Marchisio?
    Fuck does he.

  11. James7t7 says:

    Didn’t score enough ;)

    TonyBee

You know something we don’t?? Doesn’t sound good to me

  13. slim says:

second that peteyRedRed. as an added bonus. the Keane twins are first team prospects.
we could have two Manchester lads upfront and two sets of twins in the squad.

  14. PeteyRedRed says:

Yes slim, it’s going to be an exciting next few years with the potential coming up through the ranks, hopefully we won’t lose any of them.

  15. PeteyRedRed says:

Plus the thought of two sets of twins on the same team sheet makes me think we could have some kind of telepathic team that don’t need to talk to ask for the ball. Haha :D

  16. Costas says:

I am sure cubs will disagree.

As for the play off, see you next year Morrison. I wouild have prefered Blackpool to rejoin the EPL, but West Ham will do just fine. The more cunts the league has, the more motivated our players will be to win it.

  17. slim says:

    Sept

maybe the problem is he doesn’t want to play for us. getting into the United squads probably the hardest thing, especially the midfield, which is ironic seeing that’s the area of the pitch we need a bit of quality.

With Scholesy and gifts still about,Cleve hoping to stake a claim, Ando still with the club and any thought of displacing Carrick being a waste of time, you betcha he’s gonna dick around.

  18. PeteyRedRed says:

Fryers seems a good prospect too…

  19. Fred says:

Well zaid Welbzzzz. Muzt bee a buzz having Wayne in your ear conztantly.

  20. slim says:

na Pete. I think there’s little chance of losing the da silva twins or the Keane brothers. exciting stuff though

  21. zelh says:

slim – If he can’t get into our midfield, I just don’t know how he wants to cope at Juve. Their midfield has so much more to offer.

Tbh I don’t think that he doesn’t want to play for us. always said that he wants to become a legend here. But youth players are fucking greedy nowadays.
Just turned 19 and has to begranted 1st team football.

Think’s he’s the real deal already.

I rather have a less talented player with the right attitude.

  22. slim says:

    damn typos
    *giggsy*

  23. CedarsDevil says:

On the CL final, watching it with two renty supporting mates……..Come ON Bayern, cannot stand the stick should the bridgeys win it

  24. slim says:

probably gonna use huge as a stepping stone. don’t know Jack about if hes greedy or has a chip on his shoulder.

all I know is unless he simply doesn’t want to play for us I don’t see the problem in thrashing out a deal for him. we’re the ones who hold him high regards and accessed him as a player for the future. we’re not blameless in all of this. no matter though,he won’t be the first, sure as hell wont be the last. doesn’t make it a good day out in the park but shit happens I suppose

  25. slim says:

    damn, juve not huge

  26. CedarsDevil says:

    slim

    You talking to yourself mate?

  27. WillieRedNut says:

I’ve got the bottle Wayne, bring me your cup Danny, pop the cork and try a sup……

  28. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

I don’t get why you would think the Rooney-Welbeck Duo would get split up…depending on a certain player soon joining us !

We’ll obviously adapt our left wing player to be more diverse in his movement and become more narrow down the left and centralise play to help the midfield two out whilst being compact enough to cover the wiley runs of Paddy.

    Summat like;
    Raf…..Evans…..Rio………Evra
    Valencia -Carrick – Scholes
    ——————Iniesta—–
    ——Rooney——–Welby

Young has been bought to give us width on the left as an alternative to this formation plus with Nani on the bench, Clevs and Giggs on the bench, hopefully a signing to back up Carrick (I’m hoping Strootman or some sort )….we are well prepared for four competitions if our medical team don’t fuck it up again.

I don’t include Anderson or Fletcher because of the illness and the the bowel problems with Fletch, if one of them is fit consider it a blessing from Charlie’s Angels….or God or a new Medical Doc.

    Anyways, I have no worries for the duo up front but I do fear for a few other;

Chicha has been pushed to the edges, bit like Berba but less extreme, he could lose his confidence and “touch”, he needs to be playing more often even if Welbeck is playing, starting them together shouldn’t be a problem because we have flexible forward line.

Park – Will he be sold? Dunno doesn’t really have a job since Young came only when Ash was out did Park get a few games, Parky is a top lad but his impact from the bench is near to nothing, if he’s 4th in the pecking order next year, he’s better off out in the summer sadly.

Smalling & Evans – What happens when Vida is fit? Does Rio get the boot to the bench? If the Rio-Vida partnership reignites, we’ll have 3 quality centre backs playing a game 2 games a month at most and few sub appearances.

Linda – This keeper is top notch, it would be strange to see such great keeper on the bench through the season and get the “picking your nose on the bench” label…kind of a self fulfilling prophecy that.

SAF’s great big nose was wounded  Front page stuff that is, The Sun reported it like a illness in the opening 3-4 lines.

    Phew :P

  29. slim says:

  35. CedarsDevil says:

    Papii

    Singing my tune mate

  36. MG says:

    Face it

We are doomed. A week on and we’ve signed no man.

The worlds greatest player 75 goal a season hero Pogba is off to have a dream and is the epitomy of the black movement for freedom and the best fried chicken you’re ever likely to find in Turin. So I find it hard to believe why he would ever to stay with us, after all what history have we compared to the champions?

It beggars belief why we just have not found anyone to increase shirt sales in Asia and the Far East, I mean we could have signed Jackie Chan and Amitabh Bachan and oh boy wouldn’t the revenue have come in handy to pay off the dreaded debt!

But I think we are a crew like the titanic with an old man who just keeps on bumping into bloody icebergs. Time and time again we keep on sinking and time and time again we keep on staying afloat because of those good mechanics that we have called the Glazers.

I don’t know, I think we should have a Lebanese in charge with a Greek Dr of Kebabology and a Watson to figure out the schematics of a new plan.

    End of rant.

  37. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Cedars – ;) Great minds and all that.

I really hope Chelsea lose in the 94th minute today. 1-0 will do, obviously 94th minute of Extra time  Get those fucker exhausted and then depressed

  38. Albert Ross says:

If our next signing ever thinks of leaving us he’s a cunt!

Might as well not even join us, it’s all about the shirt, we don’t need fucker’s like that.
All players must take the oath:

“United calls, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear crowns and win glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Devil’s Watch, for this match and all matches to come.

Loyalty is my watchword! I will never turn my back on any player, unless he starts it.
    Then he can fuck off.

  39. WillieRedNut says:

Pussy is my watchword. Go Bayern!

  40. Albert Ross says:

Pussy puts a smile on my dial! Go Bayern!

  41. WillieRedNut says:

Ah that’s nice? Chelsea fans have brought their plastic flags over with.

  42. Redbilly says:

Mind you. If the rents win . No CL. For spuds. Modric and bale will want out.

  43. WillieRedNut says:

Didn’t finish the sentence…………..plastic cunts. Eddie’s only new to town? Always looks stoned.

  44. RedHound says:

  53. Ji Sung says:

Clint are u for real mate? Believe?? Wtf? United aren’t playing so to be honest it doesn’t make a difference to my life who wins between the two of them. Joke of a final this. So 1 sided. Struggling to watch this. Watching Chelsea this season has been awful. How they got to this stage is a miracle and they know it. Boring football team.

  54. Joffrey Baratheon says:

That was the best 45 minutes of football I’ve seen all year in Europe. I just didn’t want the half to end. A great match to match the occasion.

  55. MG says:

I think the officials are fucking brilliant

    Just as I expected

  61. Sandeep1878 says:

    evenings reds.

I think Welbz is going to be the biggest super star from our academy in the last decade..

The lad has skills, potential, desire, passion and pride to wear the shirt..

  62. Ji Sung says:

@ sandeep – let’s hope so ha. Love the way the lad plays football. Joy to watch! He can only get better…

  63. Costas says:

    @MG

She run from us I believe. She thought Bebe w3as going to eat her.

  64. Shebangsthedrums says:

How are Chelsea in this final, just goes to show, you don’t have to be a great team to do well in this tournament. It seems as though their name is on the cup this year 2012.
As for the transfer window, I don’t speculate, I’ll just wait, I almost don’t care who we sign, we’ll still be Manchester United and that’s enough for me.
    Pogba can do one!
I was a little unsure of Welbz initially, but I reckon he’ll be England’s No1 striker in a couple of years.

  65. MG says:

    Costas

I knew it Costas I knew it, this season was all Bebe’s fault!

  66. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

MG – You Bored mate? You should read Arry’s response to “United !”
    http://www.bbcfootball.com/footbal/spurs/News/triffic-performance-harry-loves-united010412.page

“United just won the play-off’s mate, we got promotion, triffic ain’t it, I had to watch you see, they played ever so well, pretty on the eyes and we set our stall out, had a dry spell, got a tiny bit lucky, but we’re ducker and divers in this part of London, scoring one is never enough, you can’t have all your digestives biscuits in one tea can you?”

When asked if he thought West Ham played negatively and conservatively, he replied,

“We did what we did and we did it well although they did what they had to do and they did it well but in the end we got the rub of the green and gold and came up trumps while the whole kick-about was even stevens.

I’ll be honest John, it was one way traffic, we played fantastic in the first half but we parked the bus in the second half and it was a hit and run, we’re typical ducker and divers, it’s in our history, we was born with the gift of the gab and in the end it was more of verbal battle rather than a tactical one, she who shouts loudest wins Geoff.”

In response to being asked whether he thought West Ham got lucky he said,

“Well Geoff, Oh Sorry John, honest mistake, Well every dog has it’s day and today’s was Blackpool;s but with us being ducker and divers, we literally stole the bone from under their paws Geoff, Oh shit, John!”

When quizzed about his reluctance to call John Motson by his name, he said,

“Well Gabriel, I mean Geoff, I’m really sorry John, I have a big problem, I can’t write so I don’t keep any names written down. I am the most disorganised person, I am ashamed to say, in the world, I pay my accountant a fortune to say those names for me Geoff, Its that Twit Barton always twitting about who’s a toad and who’s a cunt, I can’t keep up Gabriel!”

    *John Motson retires in Anger

They are entitled to it – every single odd was against them and they managed to outdo them all

    Fair play.

  132. Dromole says:

    Saad,
You are spot on. BIG nausea ends with a big VOMIT.
Now to wait for the wretching.

  133. prasan_UTDfan4life says:

So, it was indeed the Season of cunts winning everything…Still, that cunt John Terry would proclaim as if he won it which of course he didn’t. I dreaded the day this would happen and never wanted it to happen but the fucking rentboys have indeed won it!
The Germans look bottled up once Robben missed that penalty and it was just written for Chelsea. Anyways, don’t think we need to put too much thought into those fucking mercenaries..couldn’t care less who won tonight to be honest! We have a long summer to look forward to before the next season begins and in the process will have to tolerate a lot of wankfest among those ABU cunts.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they put the headlines as Redemption for Terry or something like that. The cunt did everything to fuck it up for the Chavs instead of contributing and earning it.
Gear up for more muppets joining the force to support the rentboys!

  134. Joffrey Baratheon says:

@keano99: It’s took you until tonight to realise there is no god?

  135. MG says:

    The Germans

They must be sick of playing English teams in the final

  138. Xyth says:

Arjen Fucking Robben!! Most selfish player ever.

So glad he never came to United.

Anti-football won yet again. So bloody unfair.

  139. mara says:

Drogba desered.faraon s contract…brilliant player…he is 34 yo…pplaying like he is 28…name me one 34 yo striker who can compete with him?

  140. Shebangsthedrums says:

To think De Matteo will still lose his job!

  141. slim says:

damn can’t rant in peace. I meant robben

  142. Joffrey Baratheon says:

Olic the useless cunt aswell. Knew he would miss, but the prick played out his skin against us.

  143. Mr C says:

Drogba…diver, actor but a fucking beast of a striker. A real big match player.

Shame the non-playin Terry has decided to take the gloss off his teamates’ efforts. Ever the cunt.

  144. Costas says:

In 2010, Robben and Olic knocked us out. 2 years later, when I wanted them to do the same to Chelsea, they can’t find a barn door with their aim.

Notorious summed it up best. Football is dead. Gerrard, Terry, Tevez and Balotelli lifted trophies in the same season.

  145. MG says:

Look people we had a shit year compared to our standards

Threw the league which was just beyond words – fair play to everyone

Fair play to chelsea for most of that team that’s it – to say that Roberto Di Matteo would do this would be saying no fucking chance

Respect where it’s due – they got there on merit won it on merit

    Without Terry by the way

  146. samuel - united WE stand says:

There’s a huge stain on the champions league, a huge FUCKING dirty stain with chelsea getting. Even the reliable germans from pens choke. fuck football, i’m FUCKING livid!!!

  147. Joffrey Baratheon says:

Dimatteo is only one behind Fergie in terms of European cups…..

  148. frankie says:

    Robben selfish, useless botller1

  149. mara says:

I wouldnt blame on Robben or Olic…Olic is less guilty….it just wasnt their day. Against us was their day….
when we outplayed Bayern that was football intelligence…this today was just luck….

  150. RooneysMiddleFinger says:

It’s a curse. Whoever beats Barcelona, wins the final. This has been the case for the last few years.

  151. prasan_UTDfan4life says:

    @MG

Completely agree mate…The Bavarians bottled it..only themselves to blame! Did fuckall with so much possession..Chelsea hung in there..so fair play..but surely no congratulations from me for some of those bloddy mercenary cunts especially that horrible piece of shit John Terry!

  152. MG says:

    Breaking News:

    Arry interview

Well Jeff I’m happy for Chelsea you know fair play to them you know? It was a triffic performance from the lads and I’m happy for Frank you know.

Harry you do know that because of Chelsea winning the final you won’t be in the CL?

    A stunned silence.

Nah Jeff we finished fourth you know?

Yes but Chelsea have won the cup which means five teams can’t play in the CL.

Yeah but we finished fourth and Chelsea didn’t you know?

Yes Harry but they have won the cup and that means they will be defending it next year and you’ll be in the UEFA league.

    A stunned silence.

    Nah Jeff.

    Yes Harry

Well what can I say Jeff? It ain’t triffic you know…

    Harry walks off…

  153. mara says:

As long as Barca and Real dont win i dont care who is gonna win CL…those spanish jerk clauns…

  154. Joffrey Baratheon says:

At least Lampard jumped in front of Terry when they lifted it so you couldn’t see him. Best thing he ever did.

  155. MG says:

    JB

Yes and he is also 1 behind Mourinho and Pep

  156. Shebangsthedrums says:

Arsene must be f**king gutted, tried to do it with a football philosophy, when all you needed was to throw cash at it.

  157. Saad says:

That’s really a stupid rule. Four English teams earned the right to play in next season’s league. And now Chelsea earned that too by becoming champs. There should be five teams next season.

  158. Shebangsthedrums says:

Are the chav fans celebrating? Can’t hear them and they look like they don’t know what to do.

  159. Wakey says:

So pissed off with this result. Chelsea have played Anti Football to a level that’s embarrassing yet they win the CL. And to make it worse despite finish 6th they take a CL spot next season which is just wrong, to defend your title you should first have to meet the qualification level which they didn’t. Now they have resigned spurs to losing Modric, Bale, VdV and maybe even the likes of Walker.

And to top it off we have John Terry being allowed to lift the cup despite the fact he was suspended (and like Suarez should have been sacked by Chelsea for his racism)

Only positive thing is I think we could see a Abramovich pull right back. The CL has always been his goal and now thats done whats his motivation to keep pumping money into a loss making venture. He has already pulled back his investment in recent years and this Chelsea side is on the brink of needing a complete overhaul and I just don’t see him being willing to put the money in now to do that

  160. Sandeep1878 says:

    Told you guys,

It was Chavs written all over it :(

To have a trophy less season and to top that with rivals winning the major competitions..

we wont need any further motivation,

    come on reds,

    treble next season!!

  161. MG says:

    prasan

It’s fair but Chelsea won the CL without Terry

Chelsea again are classless even when winning it – Terry should have stayed behind in his suit and clapped the lads on done a photo shoot when called for

Instead he’s done fuck all and tried to lift the cup in his kit?

Fucking hell that’s a disgrace. I hope Chelsea fans would agree

They deserved it – but it should be Drogba lifting the cup with Lampard not Terry – just goes to show that they don’t even learn when winning

    Ahem cough cough Tevez cough

  162. TheCANTONA says:

Poor bayern, defeated by unworthy teams twice… (internazionale & chelski)

  163. samuel - united WE stand says:

I’m worried, i’m really FUCKING worried about where the beautiful game is heading to. Throw enough money at it and you get handed the trophy. How’s this logic? bayern had mostly players from their youth system, developed them and did things the right way. Chelsea had 500 million worth of players and won it, fucking hell.

Sit tight people, we may well see city heading there to, unless something drastic is done, it’s only a matter of time.

  164. Wakey says:

Oh and Notice how classless Terry is. When we won in 99 Keane and Scholes were reserved and stayed in the background and really didnt want to take the limelight. This despite the fact that both (Keane especially) deserved their time to celebrate. Terry instead acted like an idiot and a thug putting Chelsea in a real problem yet he he goes about making it all about him.

  165. prasan_UTDfan4life says:

    @ Sandeep

Absolutely mate…the images of cunts like Tevez and Balotelli celebrating with the EPL trophy should serve as enough motivation for the lads! How about bringing back Sachu and The Fly for some motivation during the off season though? :P :D

  166. Sandeep1878 says:

Heard Sir Alex was admitted to hospital?

is that true, if so, get well soon sir

  167. MG says:

    Ah well.

    When are we playing next?

    :D

    Goodnight United

    Truly, football bloody hell…

  168. Costas says:

“That was the quickest John Terry got into his kit since Wayne Bridge came home early one day.”

One of the few twitter jokes that made me laugh tonight.

  173. Passe says:

Can’t deny Drogba that. Very well deserved, he seems like a very decent human being. No point in being bitter about Chelsea winning it, when you knock Barca out of it and defeat the finalists at their own backyard you have deserved it. Great for Di Matteo too.

  174. Sandeep1878 says:

    Samuel,

Talk about cunts and here they are,,

    ###

    Prasan,,

    Hello mate,

yup it serves a great motivation…

time to invest some money!! not because rivals won, because we truly need reinforcements..

  175. prasan_UTDfan4life says:

    @ MG

Couldn’t agree more mate! It shows how classless they are. Drogba and Lampard earned it, that racist cunt didn’t! And, as far as Tevez is concerned, he has actually dug his own grave by putting up that R.I.P banner….that is enough motivation to teach those fuckers a footballing lesson next season. Let them become cocky in their glory, it is the humble who will prevail and eventually win it the right way! But it amazes me to see how low can those horrible bastards stoop to!

  176. Atin says:

  179. prasan_UTDfan4life says:

    @ Sandeep

Hi buddy..hope you are doing great. Yes, we only need to concentrate on what we need to do rather than worrying about those fucking cunts. We will surely improve our squad over the summer and we have the right man taking care of those things! Can’t wait for next season!

  180. Sandeep1878 says:

    costas,

    Is that Gill really? :)

    Saad,

    well said mate,

    good night

  181. Shebangsthedrums says:

Is it me, or is this the biggest anti climax to a champions league ever? Although the sky team are obviously happy, they almost seem embarrassed that a team as poor as Chelsea have won the cup.

  182. Costas says:

    @Sandeep

    Yep.

  183. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

David Gill you flipping Cunt…taking pics when Hazard needs Kompany over in France

  184. Sandeep1878 says:

I think we are not signing any player,

Gill is planning show the blue cunt pics and them motivate the reds?

not a bad way eh? esp when debt is fucking us!!

  190. Fred says:

Costas – couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Gill taking a snap of Chelsea with the trophy. What a plank.

  191. Shebangsthedrums says:

Hazard can f**k off too. All this bullshit of playing in blue, when many teams in the EPL play in blue if you include away kits. And playing in Manchester, well he will as there are at least 2 teams it the league from Manchester that he could play away from his home club. Tosser, obviously thinks a lot of himself!

  192. Fred says:

    Papii

  193. Harry says:

Chelsea are the luckiest team this year. How could Barcelona and Bayern Munich played so shit against them. Yet, they were like unbeatable while playing against United??

    Football just died…..

  194. mara says:

I cant stand that guy Gill…he should work…instead of celebrate with our rivals…

  195. Fred says:

Shebangsthedrums – I felt the game was a real snoozefest on the whole. Didn’t feel like Champions League Final to me at all.

  196. Costas says:

    @Fred

That’s not to say he’s not taking his job seriously. We have supposedly signed England U-18 player Nick Powell.

    That’s our David. 8)

  201. CedarsDevil says:

    Damn

  202. nani4ever says:

Yup its confirmed this season as been probably the worst in history, the disastrous implications of shitty breaking their 44 year old duck and the fucking russians winning a CL absolute tragedy:(, an the most depressing of all or transfer situation seemingly going the way of a mid table team, running at the first sign of (Chelsea,PSG,Man Shitty,Barcelona,Real Madrid) being interested in any player that we been looking at even if we really need the player and to make matter extremely worst not been able to tie down our youth prospects and seemingly being unable to integrate them in the team. Fucking depressing:((

  203. Shebangsthedrums says:

Fred- I had the drama, just not the quality you’d expect. How can Chelsea be kings of Europe when they’re not even kings of London, never mind England, pathetic!

  204. samuel - united WE stand says:

Bayern and Barca did all they could, i would go as far and say they both battered chelsea, they were better technically and intelligently, they dominated chelsea but the chavs cunts have this resilience in them and fortune played a massive part in the ties. Messi misses a pen that would have wrap it up, robben missed yet another crucial kick. the germans had chances upon chances but couldn’t hit a FUCKING barn door but you still hoped they’d get the job done during penalties but they choked. Chelsea had everything going for them and have won it, i feel sick to be honest. Expect roman to throw more money at it for next season, we may well be discussing the mercenary take over of football for a while.

  205. Costas says:

According to Hodgon, Rooney played the last few games of the season with an unspecified injury and he’s still recovering.

  210. Fred says:

Three of the most shameless things I’ve ever seen, all in one night:

    1. Terry prancing around in full kit, acting like he played a part in Chelsea’s win (rather than almost having scuppered their chances with his idiotic actions in the semi-final.) I presume he listed the trophy too? Twat.

    2. Roman fucking Abramovich going up to lift the fucking European Cup, bringing one of his little nephews or something with him just for shits and giggles. :WTF? No humilty.

    3. David Gill taking pictures of the whole grim spectacle.

  211. WillieRedNut says:

    shit happens..

    good night reds,

    keep it RED..

  221. Fred says:

That tweet sounds like a “come and get me” plea to Chelsea. Forget it, Michael; they’ve already got one useless ex-Liverpool striker, they don’t need two!

  222. Fred says:

Sandeep – not the folk on here who said he was utter shit, that’s for sure!

  223. Fred the RED says:

So proud of the premier league and that people who were praising italian league and talking shit about the english now have egg on their faces. This will affect England national side and we could be in for a special summer.
Arsenal have never done it and City’s league win yet again overshadowed by another english club. Spurs have to sell players and maybe we should get in there and get one of them.
United and Chelsea now share the fact we won our first CL against Bayern and in loads of drama. Not our season but it is things like this that inspire Fergie and the lads to do better in future so let us celebrate football as the best sport by far.

  224. Costas says:

Cahill played very well today. I give him that. I still don’t rate him though.

  225. xol says:

Haha what a surreal picture. Platini looks like he’s been drugged. Nice one David Gill. At least nobody can say to him, “Where were you when Chelsea…” as the reply would be, “Right there in the executive seats enjoying UEFA hospitality”. It’s not pretty but it does motivate the team (unless the players are mercenaries).

  226. united.george says:

Fred, LOL on the ex liverpool useless striker comment!!

  227. Fred says:

I feel sorry for Manuel Neuer, he scored his penalty LIKE A BOSS 8) and would have been the hero of the day until that prick Olic fucked it all up. Poor Pigfucker too, can’t believe the way he bottled his penalty but, like I say, Olic’s miss was the turning point. That said, most of the blame must go to that tosser Robben for his penalty miss in extra time.

  228. Fred says:

LOL xol! “Right there in the executive seats enjoying UEFA hospitality” I can just imagine the plank saying that. He’s probably autograph hunting as we speak.

  229. James7t7 says:

I’m so glad this season is done… Couldn’t have gotten much worse IMO.

No surprises Robben missed a penalty. The last penalty he took, the keeper almost saved it with his eyes closed

  233. Fred says:

Gill just tweeted: “Top nosh at the Allianz Arena, just spiffing! Took some pictures of the Chelsea lads with the cup, will upload tomorrow. Got JT’s autograph – lovely chap!”

  234. xol says:

  235. metal_pubes says:

Apparently some French newspaper are reporting that Hazard has signed for Chelsea. I don’t know why I even bother getting my hopes up anymore, same deal every season, Ronaldinho, Ozil, Sneijder…
Still I’m sure Villa would accept an offer for Ireland.

  236. xol says:

I wonder what humble Sir Bobby ‘no medal for Bobby’ Charlton thought of tonight’s proceedings. Roman went up for a medal? Utterly predictable form from the king Cunt tonight.

  237. xol says:

haha Fred. “and Roman has some lovely wives”

  238. xol says:

Chelsea will have as many stars on their shirts as City if they carry on like this

  239. Fred the RED says:

Robben with the trophy would have been an awful sight. Just think about it.

  240. Costas says:

Hey, Roman spent close to a billion for that medal. Let him have his moment.

I don’t mind another English side winning the Ch.League. It’s the thought that Terry has redeemed himself for 2008 that sickens me. I honestly thought we had ruined their best chance of winning the Ch/League.

  241. WillieRedNut says:

    It’s all very HBO…

  242. Fred says:

Sir Bobby when Platini gave him a medal in 2008: “No, no, that’s for the players.”

Ole’s too good for them mugs. 8)

  251. CedarsDevil says:

    I agree with Costas

  252. Costas says:

Seems like Ole really wanted to join Villa. What is it about that club anyway? Last year Hughes quit Fulham just because Villa were rumored to be interested in him.

So many managers eager to work with Heskey?

    @Cedars

And I agree with you agreeing with me.

  253. CedarsDevil says:

    Thank you Costas

  254. NotoriousRedDevil says:

Nick Powell to be signed? You fucking kidding me that best not be our only midfield signing of the summer!

Got a lovely letter in the post this morning on ticket prices being raised next season. £40 to sit in either the Stretty or East Stand. Prices being raised on what fucking basis after the season we had!

If it costs more to go games then that money should be reinvested in the squad and whilst that may only be a fraction of turnover you add that to the increase in commercial revenue and it should mean we make more money.

Prices have gone up to compensate for our shite performance in the CL and lets face although we had injuries if we had invested in the last 5 fucking years especially in midfield we wouldn’t be in that situation. The team that won it tonight weren’t better than us. They only won it by splashing the cash. The youth policy is great and all but we’ve always had the youth as nucleas and supplemented them with signings.

Thank fuck for Fergie. If it werent for him we’d be screwed. Only he could have pulled off the Owen signing and make it look like a coup (at the time) when in reality it was stupid risky gamble which has benefited as very little and perhaps cost us a lot at times. Glad he’s gone should never had the #7 shirt either.

As for David Gill, I’ve stuck up for him when it comes to the handling of the non-football side of the club as Chief Executive but whoever plays that role will always be the bad guy. But fucks sake man, how can you be caught taking pictures of chelski and racist cunt lifting the trophy after the season we had. He’d best be there concluding a deal for Lahm or Schweinsteiger, but thats blatantly wishful thinking. Seeing that picture and reading that tweet makes me sick. David Gill you bell-end!!

Its going to be a long ass summer, my exile from Sky sports will have to continue for quite some time. I hope we get some sort of good news from the club soon regarding something.

Also Eden Hazard fuck off you sprout munching cunt. Adding our name to where you may go. Don’t tie our name to try and get an increase in what is probably an obscene amount of money that cit-eh are offering you. You may get the hope up of some of the gullible sort of United fans but not me. I know his tricks he’s playing games and theres no fucking need. Pathetic. Fortunantely I see through him but its wrong for him to fuck about with the emotions of United fans, especially the young ones. they get excited over shit like this and he’s just doing it to get a bigger payday. Horrible mercenary cunt.

  255. Fred says:

Sounds like Ole’s being stitched up. This is the thanks he gets for winning them their first ever league title. Willie is spot on.

Top post by NRD but the “tweet” I posted was a joke. ;) The picture, unfortunately, is real. :x

  256. xol says:

Ole to Villa? Stealth Utd. It would improve his cv, even if it’s a bit of experience battling against relegation. Villa were toss this season. Season before, defenders like Cuelar and Collins were pretty consistent. Same with NZog.

All this while Chelsea win their 2nd, 3rd and 4th CL and City equal our 19 within the next 6 years.

    8) Doomed….Twitter rumours suggest David Gill will replace Ron Gourlay at Chelsea, due to Ron’s insistence they spend and replace AVB with an experienced manager.

  273. xol says:

Interesting that he used the word, “interesting”

  274. Fred says:

Willie – I already looked into that. Apparently Powell is under contract to a recently-registered British agent named George M. Endes. Everything is above board. :)

  275. fergie is the boss says:

It shows what football can do to us. Where one minute we are the best in the world, and now we look on has 2 of the smallest clubs ever win the prem and CL, WOW football really as gone down the crapper

Fuckin sick to the back teeth….have the footballing gods decided to ditch justice in football and make us suffer. For fucks sake.

    1. We have a catastrophic injury list….then blow an 8 point lead…..then for 30 seconds have the title won only to lose in the final seconds, with the last kick of the ball and on GD…with circumstances like boltons result and qpr giving up etc. And lose it to those bitter scum BASTARDS BASTARDS BASTARDS!!!!!!!

    2. Dippers won a bloody cup even tho theyre the worst dipper side in history!!!! SCUM

    3. On a personal note, my whole family who are Rovers fans are devastated, the the bunch of indian chicken pluckers came along and fucked up rovers royally and have destroyed a founder member of the football league and wont stop till theyre in the conference.

    4. And then to top it off nicely….top the ANUS HORRIBILIS off nicely….the fuckin national front rentboys…lead by the racist vile scum arsehole, burn in hell you fuckin twat terry leads his bunch of anti football twats to champions league triumph. If the Valencia smash and grab wasnt bad enough…they did the same with Napoli, having been outplayed for most of the game….you d think ok, they ve had their luck. But oh no…….more was to come. Along came Benfica with 10 bloody men and completely outplayed them off the park. They rode there luck and got past that. Then came Barca…..the stats were over both legs, something like 80% possession to 20%, 50 shots to 3. 25 corners to 1. Well you get the picture. People said you couldnt get a more one sided game in the history of football. Well as Gary Nev kept saying ‘ footballing gods’ ‘there year’ ‘ name on trophy’ had 1 last icing on the fuckin cake.

Namely MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE possession, shots, corners and whatever else for Bayern than even Barca managed. And a nice penalty miss in normal play and besides to ice the cake.

Fuck sake….you finish the season 25 odd points behind the top 2……you re a pile of shite…..your philosophy in the champs league has been. Get ouplayed. Get hammered. Ride all the luck you can get and then SMASH AND GRAB IT.

THANKS FOOTBALLING GODS FOR A WONDERFUL SEASON. Was born just after we got relegated. So this for me goes down as the worst footballing season in my lifetime.

FITB – if everyone had boycotted the club immediately after Glazer’s hostile takeover, the gimps would have been back on their horses and fucked off back to Gimpland with empty pockets and sore arseholes. 293. Ash says:

Sad Sad day as a Man united fan. But you know what is more sad to see is We have not signed a player (Yeah Powell has been signed) yet. This is really poor stuff from us. We still expect giggs and scholes to play for 90 mins. April and MAy have been shit for us. Every wrong thing happened. We bottled 8 points and let those scumbags shitty win the tittle. Then you cunts like tevez badmouthing our great Manager Sir Alex.
And Now Chelshit wins the Championsleague with that Racist bastard lifting the trophy.

We have to be serious in our approach. We have to admit we cannot compete with this squad. I seriously hope vidic is injury free next season. He is our key to success.

  294. Panderi says:

Great post Suahyl. Exactly my feelings. I have had a really shit 2011-2012 personally, professionally and as a United fan and what happened yesterday night was just what I expected. What an absoulte nightmare this season has been :(

Scholsey comes out of retirement(Not ideal but it did happen) plays some of his best football and wins nothing. The argie troll goes AWOL for 3 months, slates every fucker in Manchester, comes back a hero, wins the PL in the most dramatic fashion and everything is forgiven and forgotten.

Where do I start with Chelsea ? Do these fuckers even have a footballing philosophy ? di Matteo is the luckiest manager I have ever seen. The goal which wasn’t one against Spurs. Gets smashed
by Napoli, ten man Benfica and Barce”I’d rather lose the match playing tili-taka than take a fucking shot on goal”lona. Messi and Robben miss penalties. Bayern smash them but can’t score more than one. John Terry has the nerve to run around in a Chelsea kit after the match, and lift the trophy after almost fucking his team over in the semis. Nice one John. Really proud of yourself aren’t ya ?

I was really looking forward to a Chelsea free champions league next year :( . I hope we have a decent transfer window. Anyone saw the Bayern bench yesterday ? Not even one game changer there. Made me think our squad is much better than theirs except in midfield. And we definitely are better than Chelsea. A left back and two midfielders(Nick Powell doesn’t count as one), and we should be fine. The highlight of David Gill’s summer better not be taking photos of Chelsea lifting the trophy.

  295. RedHound says:

  297. Ash says:

Here’s a very interesting thing regarding the winners of champs league in past few seasons.

All the past 4 winners have worn Blue colour in finals.

    Barcelona – Blue/Purple against United in 2009
    InterMilan – Blue
    Barcelona – Blue
    Chelsea- Blue

And chelsea have knocked out Benfica, Barcelona, Bayern Munich. All these teams letter start with B.
    :)

  298. RedHound says:

am thinking at this rate England in the future could be a full manchester united side.

  299. Kings says:

2012 is officially the year in which the fucking cunts in the game have been rewarded with the top prizes.

    Balotelli and Tevez – Premiership

    Terry – European Cup

To a lesser extent Surarez winning the Carling Cup

    The game is fucked.

The worst 4 weeks in living memory. I accept that we cannot always win things, that part and parcel of the game, but it’s the teams in particular who have won the honours that just does not sit right with me. I feel sick. Next season just cannot come soon enough.

    One Love One United.

  300. RedHound says:

Like i said yesterday, am happy for Drogba, Cech, RDM, that Bertrand kid who made his debut(what a story he has to tell),Lampard. Chelsea for me isnt Terry, as a matter of fact RDM is more of a Mr. Chelsea than Terry, so Congrats to Chelsea as a whole.

  301. Idrathershagabucket says:

Can’t tell which is worse, champions league hangover or my real hangover. Fuck sake. Chelsea? FUCKS SAKE. Glad the nightmare season is finally come to an end.

  302. Ash says:

I also have same opinion. De matteo has done a great job and I like his attitude. Personally If you take Terry out I don’t have any problem with chelsea. Yeah there fans are jerks but not that much like The scouse or City’s, Even arsenal are worst than Chelsea’s. So it is not that bad that chelsea won.

The only thing that worries me the direction where the club football is going. If you have money you will win. Team like Chelsea,City PSG,Real MADRID Have spoilt the true meaning of European football. No class only mercenaries.

Anyways we should not forget that for every City and Chelsea there is a united. For every Terry there is a vidic.

    We are the BEST

  303. Ash says:

    * Arsenal Fans are worst than Chelsea’s fans

  304. King Eric says:

Ash. Hello mate. Sad we haven’t signed a player yet? Its May mate. Has the transfer window even opened? Good god.

Not even gonna talk about last night or this season. Enough said.

  305. Ash says:

    King Eric

Hello mate. I know its May but there are teams who have signed some players. Arsenal-Podolski ,Chelsea-Marin . Honestly it is us who need some players. I know there has been injuries but I feel we are short of atleast two quality players. I know we will sign players once the Window opens but like you said it has been shit season SO I hope we are fully ready for next season and Try to win as many trophies as possible.

  306. King Eric says:

NRD. Alright pal. Spot on about Hazard and fans getting their hopes up. Aint gonna happen. We both know what that little whore is all about.

Oh and fuck off Robben you bottle job cunt. Did I see someone say glad we don’t have to see him lifting cup? Err rather him than any Chelsea player.

How the fuck has that lanky streak of piss Gomez got 40 odd goals? He is fucking dreadful.

  307. Costas says:

This should have been the season where I joined the army and missed all the action. What is there to take away from this season if you’re a United fan? Probably August of 2011. And KKK getting the sack. Like Kings said, you won’t win trophies each season, but this feels like a sick joke.

And with my luck, we will probably win the treble while I am stuck on army duty. Of course most of you are wishing it happens.

  308. RedHound says:

    Ash

I hear you, but i have to say the “money wins stuff” argument/concern is hugely flawed in respect to Chelsea’s campaign in all competitions this season. It’d have been unchallengeably true if they’d won it in 2008, but not this season. Chelsea may be the most fortunate side ever to win the Champion’s League. To say they have been lucky is an understatement. Outplayed by Napoli, Barca, Bayern and yet…they seemed to have this determination, this ability to close out games since RDM took over. I wouldnt say i belive in fate (though i believe a supernatural force definitely dictates our fourtunes), but when Bayern got an offside goal, and then got a penalty(caused by Drogba) which was promptly missed, by the teams talisman no less, all events just like the Barcelona game; the fate thing started playing in my head, and like Gary Nevilles says here-http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2146986/Gary-Neville-I-know-cliche-Chelseas-cup.html- i concluded this was meant to be Chelsea;s trophy. Money hasnt played a significant part. The one obscene money signing was Torres, and unless you include the Nail in the coffin goal against Barca, the rest of his campaign has been a flop, though i’ll say he played his part in the latter stages of the compeitition. The rest of the signings could have been afforded by several midtable sides namely David Luiz, Lukaku, Romeu, etc.

I wouldnt worry too much about the money thing, City will be the last team to do what they have done, and as Long as we continue to sign Bargain English players that can form the core of the team, we have no reason to worry about the future, keep all our legends at the club, send out an adventurous team of mountaneers to try and find the Elixir of Youth for Fergie, and we’ll be ok. I also dont think the Leeches will own the team forever, my only hope is that they dont wait to sell when its too late.

  309. Costas says:

Oh and this made me laugh:

@JackWilshere: Arsenal fans how good would it be of we won something next year? Let’s do it #together #gooners

  312. Albert Ross says:

I hate it that Chelsea and City have just thrown money at their squad, and won the trophies.

Therefore, I would hate us to just throw money at our squad in order to win trophies.
I am much happier that the Club I support is not trying to buy all the best players.

I abhor the call for fans to boycott United if we do not see ‘proper investment’ in the midfield.
I am sick and tired of hearing ‘fans’ say the same shit every season about the midfield.

I am very happy with our squad, and do NOT want a few superstars to join us.
I will never turn my back on United, and especially not because my desires weren’t reached.

This season without trophies has been far worsened by the fact that our enemies won.
I am revolted, riled, spurred and invigorated. So is Sir Alex, so is United.
More than ever WE will persevere, and we will overcome. The United way.
Not the Chelsea way, or the City way. Our way. The way that works so well for us.

Stay United. Do not listen to the selfish fools who call for boycotts or attack absent members of United staff for not doing what they want or expect. Love the Club, want us to win, love the fact that we so often do win, want more success, but stay grounded.

Have desires and dreams, but do not turn on the Club if they are not realised.
You are but one. We are all. United.

  313. Albert Ross says:

    According to The Sun:

”All sorts of accusations can be thrown at Abramovic — but scrimping on wages and transfers is not one of them.In his eight completed seasons in charge, Chelsea spent an incredible £642,584,000 on buying players — and then a mindboggling £1,170,591,000 on paying them. That makes an eye-watering total of £1,813,175,000.”

“This figure excludes the £66m lavished on the likes of Juan Mata last year, a little more on Gary Cahill in January and wages so far this season, making it £2 billion that has been splashed on the club by the owner so far.”

  314. Redbilly says:

Albert Ross – agree with all your points in the 09:21 post. Boycott the club , disgraceful regardless of Investment. What are times coming to. Regarding Chelsea , I think they gave punched above their weight. Fortune was on their side during. The competition plus the dogged bus parking helped.

Personally. If we was offered a restructuring of the club complete with mercenary players, no traditions and obscene wage/ fee structures. I would prefer we declined . Rather remain a real football club with less silver. Winning at all costs is NOT. Everything .

  315. RedHound says:

and that doesnt even make them worth 2 billion, not even close

  316. Albert Ross says:

Redbilly – i’d also prefer that we decline the offer of endless money to buy mercenary players and pay obscene wages, even if it came with the guarantee of successful longevity.

RedHound – now that Abramovic has realised his dream, the law of diminishing returns kicks in. How much money and time will he be prepared to invest for another CL trophy? Not nearly as much as he put into winning the first.

  317. slim says:

speak for your self albert mate. I see where you’re coming from clearly. just don’t agree with it.

obviously the boycott is a joke. can’t and wont ever happen . all the kids the world over could wish it this Christmas and it still wont happen

  318. Costas says:

The money issue is a touchy one. Obviously I wouldn’t want our club to buy players (or their success) through some sugar daddy’s money. However I am also not a fan of seeing the millions our club generates go out to servicing debt payments brought on by an outsider instead of strengthening the team. Because that’s what’s been happening to a large degree.

  319. Wakey says:

    @fergie the boss
It’s hardly as if the clubs not tried to improve not only the midfield but other positions.

In the last 5 years we have had
    - a £24mill bid for Silva accepted but then rejected when Valencia gt greedy and asked for more
    - A fee for WS was apparently agreed, was just WS being greedy with the wages. The cub can’t just pay players what they want, as it always has there is a wage stratergy to keep the club viable. Breaking it would have opened the floodgates for current players to demand more and new players to demand silly money.
    - Ozil was cleary being tracked. It just seems he wanted to go to Real
    - We bid for Nasri, he choose the stupid wage at City over us.
    - Benzema had the fee agreed but Valencia messing Real around over villa like they did with us for Silva saw Real have to go for their 2nd choice andhe choose Real
    - we matched Barcas bid for Villa. He choose Barca

Then you have the squad level players we could have gone for, the problem is City/Chelsea/Real and the other sugar daddy clubs spending has caused this level of players fees and wages to spiral more than any players. They go from players who would add to the squad and may have the potential to grow so worth a punt to overpriced players like Downing who could never justify their price.

The club could spend silly money on relatively average players just to say ‘we are spending’ but I k ow. For one would rather they were identifying the players they feel actually improve the squad and are ready for the step up and focusing on trying to bring them in. Even if the players get greedy or prefer elsewhere I would rather that than going for an overpaid average 5th choice that takes the c.ub from being well run to the edge of a financial meltdown like we see with City/Chelsea or Liverpool

  320. Albert Ross says:

Good day slim! Fair enough mate. Actually no, how dare you disagree! Ha ha!

Your statement “boycott is a joke. can’t and wont ever happen” is spot on. Shouldn’t be called for, or heeded. I realise it wasn’t actually a call, but merely a threat. I don’t like being threatened either, so that only makes it worse.

What is it that you mainly disagree with?
Was it: “I am very happy with our squad, and do NOT want a few superstars to join us.” ?

  321. Albert Ross says:

Costas – spot on. I don’t mind at all that we identify and buy what the club needs. I’m not happy if we are using that money instead to service someone’s debt.

However, I do think that no unfair or unusual restrictions have been felt by Sir Alex in the transfer market. I expect that had the Glazers not needed to use crippling finance to buy the club, our squad would be pretty much identical to what it is now.

That does not in any way excuse the Glazers for taking our money. It simply means that our squad has hardly been affected by the interest payments. In fact, if the Glazers are solely focussed on their returns from their investment in United, then keeping us competitive will be their main priority and concern.

  322. Costas says:

    @Albert Ross

Don’t know mate. If Fergie’s hands weren’t tied to a degree, then I believe the midfield situation (for one thing) would have been addressed more aggresively than it has in the last 2 years. Instead we are still relying on our 2 legends, we are hoping that Anderson will finally screw his head on straight and we are (probably) putting too much faith in Fletcher returning to his old form. Obviously the Glazers are very much interested in keeping United as competitive as the club can be, but they also know that in Sir Alex they have a manager that can do that by working wonders with a tight budget (tighter than City or Chelsea’s anyway!)

  323. Albert Ross says:

    Costas

i don’t think that the midfield situation would have been addressed more aggresively than it has in the last 2 years. If we had sold Anderson, Cleverley and Fletcher; and bought like-for-like players that happened not to get injured, we would not consider that “3 in – 3 out” deal as addressing the midfield aggressively. If we had those 3 available our midfield wouldn’t appear bare.

Going against my stated view is the facts that a) we knew about Fletch, b) Ando has been injury prone and inconsistent, and c) Tom’s progression was a fairly unknown quantity. This perhaps should have driven us to bring in a midfielder last summer. Of course, we did try hard to bring in one of Sneijder, Nasri or Modric. It does seem that money was the reason all 3 failed to arrive. Also true is the fact that all 3 would have been very extravagant purchases, none of them worth anything like their cost, especially considering their money-grabbing nature. Getting players in at all costs results in the 50-million-for-Torres deals that cause more conflict than they are worth.

I’d rather have Tom, Fletch and Ando at United; than Sneijder, Nasri and Modric.

  324. brett1985 says:

Chelsea have won the champions league because of a huge amounts of luck and because Lampard is a complete professional and Drogba is one of the best strikers of his generation. A mix of factors came into play.

I don’t really care as much as some people will that they’ve won the champions league and I think that over a period of 8 years- but not this season they’ve done enough to merit success in the competition.

Not all united fans will think this way but my attitude is that if united don’t win the thing I don’t give a damn who does whether it is city, chelsea etc. That goes for the league or cups. That goes for the league this season. It doesn’t bother me whether its city or bolton or arsenal who pipped us. We didn’t win and thats all that matters.

  325. Wakey says:

    @Costas

But as you and everyone else seems to forget is the clubs revenue is largely down to the Glazers as are the driving down of many of the unnecessary expenses down. So under the PLC we woudn’t have had an extra £45mill a year.

People also act as if the PLC didn’t come with their own costs. They had dividends to pay, management fees that exceeded the Glazers management fees and just being a listed came with costs.

Even if the PLC had managed to raise revenues on par with the Glazers and reduced costs the difference between the Glazer and the PLC running costs wouldn’t have been £45mill, infact no she close. And that’s a big assumption that the PLC could have generated the income and driven costs down as they hadn’t shown the ability to do so at any other time. While M&M’s 99 point letter was clearly motivated by the spat with Fergie it did bring up many good points about where the PLC were failing (not least paying agents 30% rather than the normal 10%)

And any other buyer who wasn’t a sugar daddy wanting a new plaything to throw silly money at was always going come with costs. Even Lerner who the RedKnights held up as a good owner takes significant money out of Villa despite their losses.

It’s easy to sit there and look at the single Figure of the Interest figure and say ‘this money could otherwise be spents in players’ but that’s way too simplistic and doesn’t take things into context.

Wakey – I doubt united were even putting in bids for players, they would make an interest, but never follow it up, because it is the famous quote from the club since 2009, it has to be value for money. I wonder why that is? Like I said, if we do not see money strengthened on the engine room in the summer, I do think the club has got it’s hands tied. Because one more year with this midfield will see the same results yet again

I’m one of the few that congratulate Chelsea on their triumph apart from Terry who I loathe. In fact I think if he had played I don’t think they would of won. He would of asked to be last penalty taker and slipped again if he hadn’t already got himself sent off.

Great post from suhayl! Puts everything in place in one blast! Papii is also right too? I’d rather suffer disappointments with United, than win trophies supporting Chelsea and city……. God! I love this club! :D

For one thing, I didn’t include Tom among the matters that need to be addressed. He should be part of our midfield picture for the next 10 years. But I can’t helo but feel that cases like Anderson or even Fletcher’s would have been handled differently in the past. I believe it’s 5 years since we last bought a CM. And honestly, I wouldn’t ask for the players you mentioned. Some are too expensive (Sneijner) others weren’t what we are looking for in midfield (Modric). I think Tiote is a good example of how to conduct your business relatively cheaply and effectively. It’s young players from the top shelf we should be after. I’ve often wondered this, but if we stumbled upon a young 18 year old Ronaldo today, would we do what was necessary to buy him like we did 9 years ago?

    @Wakey

No doubt under which regime the club generated the most profit. The Glazers. However, when you look at the percentage of money reinvested back in the club, which regime would have the highest amount? The PLC or the Glazers?

But to my other point, I think you recently said that the 70 million from our account that went to the debt recently was a logical move because it was money that we weren’t spending anyway and the interest was low? My issue with that, is that we did have to spend it on players (In my opinion anyway), yet the debt seemed to be the main priority. Correct me if I didn’t understand right.

  330. mara says:

I agree with Wakey and Costas….club has money, but Glazers takeing that money to their own pocket and not returning the main debt

  331. Albert Ross says:

Costas – you hadn’t included Tom. I agree he should be part of our midfield picture for the next 10 years. I’m not sure Ando and Fletch would have been handled differently, or that they should have been. It’s all conjecture, and I also saw the points you raise. They are very valid. Perhaps we were restricted, although I think not.

I believe 100% that we are very much after more purchases in the Ronaldo mode. We will spend a lot on a few young potential stars every other season. We won’t set Ronnie as the benchmark, because it’s entirely likely that 5 years might pass before the next player of his (or Messi’s) class is unearthed world-wide.

Young players that are already on the top shelf are hard to dislodge, although Rooney is an example of why it’s worth breaking transfer records on young players. We want to get lads who’s arrival is the catalyst to their entry to the top shelf. Here’s hoping!

Chelsea winning CL is just part of the “ball is round”. It can happen to any club with a decent performance once in a long time. It is just like Porto winning the CL. If on that day, luck was on our side, United might have shown them the exit route. But we were defeated and Porto won the CL.

In the future of football, I can only see money making the differences. Currently, only those few clubs who are controlling their spendings and trying to make football a fair play are United, Arsenal and perhaps Liverpool. If United does not stand between those clubs that spend non-stop, maybe football is no longer bearable to watch.

  334. Wakey says:

    @Costas

If we look at the % spent on transfer fees then yes the PLC paid a higher percentage but it doesn’t tell the whole story. The PLC had to over pay for the players they did get more due to the increased agent fees they paid and the fact that being a PLC our business was carried out in public so it was harder to negotiate. All our deals were like Bebe and Jones in that we had to pay what the selling club wanted to get it done ASAP otherwise we risked losing the player. Think we would have paid much more for De Gea and Young than we did under the PLC and the same for the likes of Anderson, Nani, Hernandez etc.

It’s only been players where a players been wanted by. Anew clubs or our Interets has been widely known that the prices have gone through the roof. Berba is a perfect example of this.

In actual numbers though our seasonal spend is around the same as before the takeover. It often just looks worse due to the net spend figure but then out sales have been much higher than before (Ronaldo doesn’t help but we have got better deals on a lot of our sales than we seemed to before)

Also if we had got a couple from WS, Benzema and Villa all of which would have cost us over 30mill then the situation would have looked a fair bit different.

The more important factor though is wages. These have risen quicker than transfer fees but our % of revenue spent on wages has remained around the same.

On the Bondbuyback it’s not like a choice was made to buy bonds back rather than players. The money was there, It wasn’t all spent so do you just keep sitting on it letting it grow? They will know what they will expect to spend on transfers and what will be needed to run the club so all they need is enough money to cover this. With the rest It may as well be put to work, the 100mill they have roughly bought back saves nearly 9mill a year which is better than it sitting there earning nothing and not being spent.
