Wes: I Enjoyed Title Win Last Season… But It Wasn’t The Same

Wes Brown has joined the squad for the pre-season after making a surprise return to the first team on the final day of the season. Brown had been out since January after spending the first half of the season struggling with injuries.

Sir Alex Ferguson claimed that Brown’s fitness would make a big difference to our coming season and the defender is raring to go.

“I’m good at the moment, back in pre-season. Everything is going well,” said Wes. “I’m glad to be here and get the few games in. It was frustrating. I was out for a very long time with my foot. We did very well last season and I’m just glad to be back in the thick of things and get ready for the start of season.”

Brown missed out on a medal after not playing in enough league games, but insists he still enjoyed celebrating the title.

“You dont really feel a part of it,” he added. “I played seven games so I missed out by a few [for medal]. But we won so you enjoy it just much, but its not the same if you’re not really involved in it.”

thats obvious.brown played nearly all games in the 2007-08 season and was brilliant at right back in nearly all the games and at centre back in the semi against barca

  8. denton davey says:

IF Wesley and OwenH can be fit for the big matches then it will truly be like getting two new players. They were both sorely-missed in the crunch last year.

  9. Gudjohnsen says:

Yup I agree, if both Brown and Hargo stay fit we’ll be gaining two new players this season. I also think we’ll gain another striker in Macheda just like Fergie said…

  10. Anon says:

Not too sure about Macheda mate. Guess I may be wrong, but i think one more season at least until he can become a regular in the squad…

Couldn’t agree more about Harg and Brown. And De Laet. Till Hrgreaves is fit I want De Laet to be Feltcherinho’s deputy…

question, Is De Laet in the Asia touring squad at the moment?
And who else is going to be playing in the Germany tournament (Audi Cup?) ?

  11. Drew Vader says:

Anon — I asked that same question regarding De Laet the other day and some kind soul informed me that he in fact did not travel with the first team squad, but was left in England to play with Ole in the reserves.

  12. Drew Vader says:

Cont — Which really surprised me because I would have thought that after his performance against Hull he would be considered one of the lads thats “on the bubble” as they say. Maybe not ready to be considered for first team action on the regular, but surely he cant be far off.

  13. King Eric says:

Anon – Bayern Munich, Boca Juniors and AC Milan. I actually agree with Gudjohnsen about Macheda. Reckon he will shine this season and develop into a “proper” star. Cannot wait to get started.

  14. Trevor says:

One thing about brown is that the season before last is the only season i can remember him being available most of the season.

If honest i think he has had more injuries thatn Michael Owen! When fit his is one of the best defenders in the league, although not as good going forward as the likes of Johnson and Gary Nevile for that matter! What i miss when Nevile is not playing is his Crossing! When match fit his crosses are at times as good as a wingers!

  15. Jack says:

used to love the days on the right with becks and neville, them 2 were class 2geva on the right
