Wes: I’m Really Looking Forward To Return

Echoing the sentiments of Kieran Richardson this week, another former Manchester United youth product at Sunderland, Wes Brown, has claimed he is looking forward to returning to Old Trafford this weekend.

“It’ll be good. I’m really looking forward to going back to Old Trafford,” said Brown. “Obviously I had only ever previously been at Manchester United so it will be special to go back. I will enjoy the day but I’m going back there to try and win as a Sunderland player and hopefully we can do that. It will be nice to catch up with a few people I’ve not seen for a while before and after the game but during those 90 minutes I’ll be fully focused on hopefully getting a good result for Sunderland.”

    Love Wes tbf.

In hindsight, we shouldn’t have sold him or O’Shea. :(

  2. utd_fc says:

Totally should’ve. We have enough defenders. But wes and oshea left us with good memories :)

  3. Costas says:

Couldn’t ask for a better opponent on Fergie’s big day. Can’t wait to see Wes and Sheasy back at OT. They’ll get a great response and then they’ll show us what we are missing. ;)

  4. NotoriousRedDevil says:

O Shea is injured and I hope Brown doesn’t play. Still find it hard with Wes to see him in a sunderland shirt.

  5. Fred says:

Haha! “Totally should’ve. We have enough defenders…” That’s why Valencia, Fletcher, Carrick and even Berbatov have played at the back this season.

We could have used Big Wes or Big John when we were getting gangbanged by Man City on our own pitch imho.

Would serve us right if Wes were to snuff out our attackers with consumnate ease, then shake off Jones or Evans and power in a header to win the game in the last minute on Saturday.

  6. T4M says:

    We’re expectn you too

  7. Fred says:

  8. NEED TO FEEL THE LOVE says:

  9. WillieRedNut says:

Sheasy’s injured? Never! Come on Wes….score an og for old times sake? ;)

  10. Costas says:

Oh come on Fred! You have to admit that watching Berba as a CB and Tony V as a RB is perversely exciting. :)

    @Notorious

Damn, O’Shea got injured again? Come on John. Gut it out!

  11. iDon says:

    Yeah comon Wes … Hahaha

  12. Sandeep1878 says:

  16. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

Hope Wes has a stinker, love the bloke but we need to win this one. Hopefully 1-0 aswell. :P

25 years WoW, I think I love Sir Alex Ferguson, SAF always says nobody is bigger than the club, its a difficult claim to support especially when the likes of Sir Matt Busby & SAF have made this club what it is today. It took United 15 years to finally replace the great Busby and took 26 years for us to finally win the league again, which should never be forgotten considering the amount of taunts thrown the way of liverpool.

This a unique club with unrivalled stories about its greatness and Busby & Ferguson are our heart & soul of the club, they are a duo of footballing Gods, they have created & we worship, adore and appreciate them for this ( most of us.).

That documentary about SAF was from 1995, imagine the many stories he has to tell now, 16 years on. I wish to meet the man before I die, he’ll be at United long after we all die, the man is God, his presence will always be felt, same goes for Busby, I feel like I grew up in the 1945-71 Era because of the amount of history I have learnt and seen.

I love you Manchester United but I hate the Manchester United Business ( Ltd) who despise our love and exploit it. I would do anything for us to fan owned at 45%. The supporters made the club, we should still be the part owners in at least some kind of form.

  17. Zibbie says:

    Hello all,
Welcome back Wes and JOS and the rest of the X-players.
    25 years and counting.
    Much to read yet. BBL

  18. Mikekelly12 says:

    Clint
I echo your sentiments. Very well said pal. Sir Alex is only a small bloke but has an amazing aura about him. I remember waiting for my mate at the bottom of the premier lounge a few seasons ago. Sir Alex walked round the corner and accidentally stood on my foot. He looked at me in the eye and I said “sorry Sir Alex” “ya al reet” he replied! He stood on my foot and I apologised to him! Mental but that’s the presence he has!

  19. Paul Parker says:

Welcome back Wes, you were a brilliant player for United! Shame about those injuries, but when fit you was the best defender England had. Imagine if Wes had more luck? he’d still be with us now putting in top performances. Still, no regrets, he had a brilliant career and he’ll deserve his reception from the faithful, and his fair-well applause as he leaves the pitch in defeat.

Lol @ Willierednut, thats what I thought when I heard about Oshea, shame he’s gonna miss it but the odds on both these boys being fit for this return was fucking remote!

  20. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

Oh Wes. It’s the fantastic combination he had with Ronaldo during the 07/08 season that comes to my mind. And all the great years he’s had with us. Cheers, he’ll be getting an awesome reception.

  21. FletchTHEMAN says:

Hope Richardson and Wes get a good warm reception from the fans. Will miss John O’Shea if he doesn’t make the squad. Really love Both Wes and JOS. Good Reds, the lot of em!

  22. CedarsDevil says:

Would be emotional seeing him back, always loved him but in a way I echo Mikekelly’s sentiment! hahahaha

  23. CedarsDevil says:

How fucking weird……………. Just used the words ‘echo the sentiments’ addressed to Mikekelly only to find out that he also used the same words to address Papii…

    Creepy

  24. WillieRedNut says:

    Crawley?

  25. CedarsDevil says:

Great to see our pal Mes posting here again….. How was the honey moon my friend? Hope the ‘performances’ were up to standards! hahaha

  26. Mahesh says:

So Cleverley continues to be injured. Costas, how long do you reckon it will be this time around? More importantly, do we even have any midfielders worth of the name ready to play come saturday?

  27. CedarsDevil says:

Football is all about great memories and we all feel nostalgic from time to time, recalling great moments or matches and even players…. I know when I get nostalgic I become like a bitch in heat so do bear with me fellas….. I am sat at home with all the time in the world so depending on the mood or where my pills take me I usually take a trip down memory lane…. Today it was Brasil 82 as I posted on another thread and one player in particular that is Dr Socrates…. Look him up, watch videos of him and enjoy. The man was a genius

    Willie

    Town?

  28. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

    Cedars you wierdo :P

Mikekelly, thats great, now you can introduce yourself around RoM as the guy that had the honour of being stepped on by SAF Lol, I would give a leg to share a similar story. Even making Eye contact with him would be a dream.

After the 2007 FA cup final I saw the team bus outside the wembley stadium stuck in traffic, through the windows I saw Rio,Giggs,Wayne, Van der sar & many others and gave them a wave and they gave a thumbs up and a wave back or just smiled and nodded. I ran like a buffoon around the bus twice just to get a glimpse of SAF but sadly couldn’t see him but I did see the legendary Carlos Quieroz.

 Thats the closest I’ve ever been.

  29. CedarsDevil says:

Meeting Sir Alex? Been there done that!

  30. Whiteside says:

I once shared a lift at the bridge with Ken frigging Bates. Fucking father christmas bastard, could’ve glassed him right there!

  31. WillieRedNut says:

Our kid met the great man. Lucky bitch! :P I’d listen to one of Susan Boyle’s CDs, just to meet him! ;)

  32. CedarsDevil says:

    Whiteside

A lift? That’s where I met Sir Alex! hahaha Radisson Edwardian in Manchester….. One of the best minutes of my life….. Damn he was so humble

    Still gives me shivers

  33. pritch the red says:

Sell wes keep evans great bit of business .Wes would have kicked shit out of city no prob

  34. CedarsDevil says:

Mind you I also met Sven in the same hotel a couple of years later….. Had a chat, he was City boss at the time… Was there to watch the boys play Arsenal and he wished me luck…. I said sorry but I cannot wish you the same…. Fucking brilliant! He actually laughed.. Had an Asian chick to die for with him…

Also ran into El Hadji Diouf that same evening in the hotel bar, took a picture with him. Bastard had about 6 or 7 gorgeous women with him

  35. Costas says:

    @Mahesh

I believe Carrick will be fit again mate. And I guess Fletcher too. He wasn’t injured last night was he? Today I heard that Anderson picked up a knock yesterday and he’s doubtful. So looks like it will be Carrick-Fletcher. It’s been a while since these two played together. As for Tom, who knows? If it’s a ploy to keep him away from the England games and have him back for Swansea, I hope it works. Originally, Fergie said that he was going to be fit for Sunderland. I’ll be very disappointed if he isn’t fit for Swansea.

  36. CedarsDevil says:

    pritch the red

I always look forward to your posts, never ever anything positive to say… If you’re married then God help your wife, you must be a truly miserable person….

    Susan Boyle CD!!! Funny!

    Cedars
I think we may well have forged a strange vocabualaristic connection this evening.

Of course my comment regarding Wes was tongue in cheek. Loved him in the Red of United and will be good to see him again. But as the old cliche goes, once over that whitewash all sentiment goes out the window! KILL KILL KILL!!

  38. prasan_UTDfan4life says:

Just came across this quote from Sir Alex when the great Sir Matt Busby passed away in 1994 in an article on 7cantonas.com:

“I found him a wonderful and incredible man, a character of substance and charisma. There have been some outstanding managers in this country but without doubt he was the greatest there has ever been. You go through your life and meet maybe half a dozen truly educated people. There are plenty who are educated in one field, but Matt Busby always had a roundness of spirit and education of life. He set the benchmark for those of us who have followed him. Of course there has to be change, but I know I must strive to maintain the core of dignity and class he created. He threw down the gauntlet and said this is the way it should be done, this is Manchester United. People talk about greatness and in football it is a very misused word, but it is what you felt in the presence of Sir Matt Busby. He had an aura. He was the lord of them all. I am just glad we won the League Championship before he died and I am pleased he was at Old Trafford last May to see it.”

The article mentions Sir Alex’s first team talk as well which is as under:

“You players have got the chance to be the ones who win the Championship for Manchester United for the first time in 20 years. To do so you have to take over from men like Law and Best and Charlton, or you’ll always walk with their ghosts. It could be your greatest triumph, for you, and for your supporters, if you can emulate those heroes.”

Legendary stuff indeed! We have been so lucky to have 2 absolute geniuses of the game managing this wonderful club! It would hurt a lot when Sir Alex finally calls it a day and I just hope that day is far off from us and may the great man continue for a long long time! Manchester United is blessed and I absolutely love this club! GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED!

    THE AFGHAN FOOTBALLER

The Manchester United manager flies to Kabul to watch a young Afghani play football, is suitably impressed and arranges for him to come over.
Two weeks later Man Utd are 4-0 down to City with only 20 minutes left, the manager gives the young Afghani striker the nod and on he goes.
The lad is a sensation, scores 5 goals in 20 minutes and wins the game for ManUtd. The fans are delighted, the players and coaches are delighted and the media love the new star.
When the player comes off the pitch he phones his mum to tell her about his first day in English football.
‘Hello mum, guess what?’ he says ‘I played for 20 minutes today, we were 4-0 down but I scored 5 and we won.
Everybody loves me, the fans, the media, they all love me.’
‘Wonderful,’ says his mum, ‘Let me tell you about my day.
Your father got shot in the street, your sister and I were ambushed and assaulted, your brother has joined a gang of looters and all while you tell me that you were having a great time.’
The young lad is very upset. ‘What can I say mum, but I’m really sorry.’

    ‘Sorry?!!! Sorry?!!!’ says his mum,
‘It’s your FUCKING fault we came to Manchester in the first place!’

Simply from another world and football will never see anyone as gifted as him ever again

    OFF TOPIC.

Expect to here alot about Ravel Morrison in the next day. Apparently he was included in a reserves game, coming on as a sub. Later he seemed to complain about this and said “I can’t wait until the end of the season.”

Could be much ado about nothing. But I kind of think Ravel is having more maturity issues.

Hope he can hold it together.

Fletch – not good about Ravel. )-: Does that comment mean he’s expecting to be a full time member of the first squad next year? With that attitude he’ll be in the stiffs for a while or out on loan.

  84. slim says:

    FletchTHEMAN

Just read the match report on the United site, he was an unused sub. Not sure if it discredits the story but according to the match report he an unused sub. I’m more worried there’s other players grumbling underneath their breath to be honest and that statement is pretty loaded.”i can’t wait until the end of the season”? pretty deep

  85. Samuel - united WE stand says:

Nice to hear wesley but we want to win, it won’t be easy against sunderland though and we best watch that sessegnon and larsson who is absolutely deadly from set pieces, hope we get the job done but i’m not expecting a straightforward win.

  86. Samuel - united WE stand says:

that’s the attitude we want from players though? some would rather just sit there but ravel doesn’t like it but he’ll have to improve that attitude and share his frustrations on the pitch.

I think people are making a big deal out of his tweets to be honest, he is venting frustrations like anyone would but hopefully this will drive him to break into the first team, he won’t be sent on loan like some on here would think, i think he is capable of breaking through without getting loaned out.

  87. CedarsDevil says:

We had Best, we had Robbo….. No team on earth can better that…

    Good night my friends

But there are loads of fans saying this is uncool. I’ll see if there is more in it.

    He said
“The wee little fucker Best is the best I ever seen in my life and I saw pele, this punk had the amazing ability to bring the toughest, strongest hardest bastards to their knees and falling over all over the place when Georgie took em on,he did, I swear my lunch on it, he;d have lads falling all over the pitch, women falling on top of him off the pitch, brilliant player, spent my teenage years going to Man.United games to watch him even though I’m from Rochdale, gorgeous he was, everyone wanted to and still wants to be like George Best from my days”
