United face a tough trip to Tyneside to take on Newcastle and are 1.91 shots with Betfred and Paddy Power to come away with all three points.
The stats are not so good as far as the Red devils are concerned.
Newcastle are unbeaten in their last three league matches against Sir Alex’s men, but they haven’t gone four without a defeat since 1989.
The Magpies are also won nine and lost just one of their last 13 Premier League games at the Sports Direct Arena, and are clearly going to be hard to beat on their own patch.
The main concern as far as United are concerned is that they have conceded nine goals so far, and keeping it tight at the back will be vital given that Newcastle have two potent strikers in the shape of Demba Ba an Papiss Cisse.
However they have not found it hard to score goals, and have three players with excellent records of finding the back of the net against Newcastle.
Wayne Rooney has scored 10 Premier League goals against them – his joint-best haul against any opponent in the competition – and looks good value at 6.5 to net the opener with Paddy Power. He can also be backed at 2.63 with Boylesports to score anytime and that looks well worth a wager
Paul Scholes has scored more goals against Newcastle than versus any other Premier League opponent (9), and is a 17 shot in the first goalscorer market with Paddy Power.
Robin van Persie, who has scored five goals in his last five Premier League starts against Newcastle, is the favourite at a top priced 5 with Paddy Power to bag the opener.
Given the attacking talent at their disposal, I think United are capable of edging this if the back-line can remain strong and I fancy them to run out 2-1 winners at odds of 8.5 with bet365.

Man Utd News 24/7

We play better without wingers. 3:1 for me, in favour of United
I think United are more than capable of getting a result
3rd
3 – 0 to us with rooney on the double.
Wishful thinking for a clean sheet though
Don’t worry guys, the last time we lost a home game 2-3 and played away to newcastle…
Oh dear, it will happen again won’t it?
I reckon United can beat Man U again even though we won’t have our first choice defence out. Ba and Cisse will spoil ol red nose’s weekend
With our leaky defence 3 2 Newcastle, Ba is on fire and made us look stupid last season.
If we start with giggs and scholes in the middle we are guna be in for a tough game. We need 2 cme at them with pace and energy. Sumfin that a 38 and 39 yearold dnt have… I hope we start with Carrick clevs and ando in the middle and if it dsnt work wel then bring on the legends!
Btw i dont have an issue with scholesy starting its just with giggs and Carrick we look and are slow paced and if kagawa plays he gets starved of the ball due 2 how deep the old guard play.
Don’t know did you read this Sir Alex Ferguson’s quote about our goalkeepers.
http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2012/Oct/sir-alex-will-ultimately-choose-between-david-de-gea-and-anders-lindegaard.aspx
“At the moment, neither has got that big-game experience but they will get that in time.”
This one I didn’t get it, because, DeGea despite the young age, has won the Uefa Super Cup and the Uefa Europa League, if those aren’t big games, then I don’t know. Then he won with us The Community Shield against Shity, and even though it’s not a serious cup, it’s always serious when you play against SHitty.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Lindegaard, I think if we hadn’t DeGea, I would be happy just with him, but De Gea is masterclass for me, despite for 2-3 errors he has made. Who hasn’t?
So I found that quote a bit strange, what do you guys think?
Also, he has won in international level, though it was Spain U17.
International
Spain U17
UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship (1): 2007
Spain U21
UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship (1): 2011
Individual
UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship Team of the Tournament (1): 2011
I can’t predict till I see the starting line-up. That will be the ultimate decider.
Scholes and Giiggs in midfield, 3:1 Newcastle..
Anderson/Cleverly/Kagawa start – 3:1 united
@we are united. Spot on m8 and i think 99% of us thnk the same. Fuck the tinkering in nets! Degea is/should be our No1.
btw, gott me thinking, how can I make my username pernament, liek you have it in red?
and thank you @belfast red. waiting to see, what the others think about this
found this, I think this would be a great poster .
http://redlog.pl/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/sir_alex_ferguson_gofather.jpg
It’s a bit late, and I have nothing to do, but another question from me.
Why, after Nani scored the goals against Tottenwho? and played a decent good game, nobody here has said anything about him? .. well maybe I answered my own question ..
Anyway .. I Don’t want to open an old topic, but I find that kinda funny.
peace.
TYPO:
scored the GOAL. haha
.
#BELIEVE.
Key points on Newcastle game:
1. GK: My head says Fergie will stick with Lindy, but my heart hope that Fergie will let De Gea play this time and for the rest of our league games. Enough dropping De Gea for so long, he should have learned from his mistake already. The role should be reversed now. De Gea for league games and Lindy for cup games.
2. Defense: Rio can finally have his focus for United now after Hodgson drop him from England team. With current injury crises with our defenders, its better for him to conserve his energy. Can he and Evans/Smalling/Wootton take care of Ba and Cisse?
I think Evra will play, so I hope (and pray) he will buckle up this time. Otherwise, Ben Arfa or Obertan will give us real threats from left.
3. Mid: as long as Giggs not starting the game. Fergie should give Ando, Clevz (and Flecth) the run. Tiote and Cabaye are quick and strong, so we should play with our young bloods.
4. Striker: Rooney-RVP-Kagawa combo should play upfront. Delicious!
Prediction: we always bounce back, so I’m for United to win.
I remembered the aggro from Hatem Ben Arfa against our Wayne Rooney last season and I don’t like it a bit. I hope somehow Rooney can score a brace and stare down this upstart.
No disrespect to Newcastle, but you know something is wrong when even regular supports start to worry what Newcastle can do to us
Keeper Rotation Policy. I kind of think it is fergies plan to develop these lads under a system where
all criticism is deflected himself, rather than on our young keeper.
Most of us think DeGea is by far the better keeper, Look at his stats, his ability to hold the ball, especially his ball distribution, and there is no comparison. But that said, he did whither a tad under the intense national scapegoating that he received early last season for seeming a bit weak on the high cross. There was even a statement from the club that he would go for eye surgery.
I really think Fergie want to develop both these lads in a system that allow them both to thrive, but predict that it will build a great deal of mental toughness. Lets hope it works this time. It sured didn’t when tried with Tim Howard. (For those of you who weren’t around 10years back. Timmy used to be our keeper and I quite liked him. But he has been widely blamed as the only reason that we know about a certain special one. A Howard shocker gifted Jose Mourinho’s Porto a point that allowed them to progress and ultimately win the CL in 04. The famous celebration, the quips from fergie about bad wine. Yep, that was blamed on Tim Howard)
So, big shoes to fill for these lads after van der Saar. But only person we are talking about …. is the manager. Think Fergie can be well pleased with himself.
Agreed Marq. In yeard gone by, the game at St James’ was one of the most anticipated for me. The fact that they played attacking football helped our talented side play freely and it made for some of the most entertaining games in the Premiership.
The last couple of games haven’t been like that. We fought very hard for a 0-0 draw in 10-11 and no need to repeat what happened last season. The thought of Scholes and/or Giggs starting over there deeply worries. Feels like a lamb being led to the slaughter. If Tom and Ando start, things might look up, but I feel it will still be a scrappy win. No 6-2 or 5-1 this time.
Gosh, has it been 10 years already? How Howard flapped at the freekick for Porto to score is still so vivid in my mind.
marq- What, are newcastle not a top side? They’ve assembled a great squad, it’s only fair to acknowledge how good they are, especially at home. I don’t think it’s alarm bells as you’re making out, newcastle will cause united problems due to the quality of their team. People assume united will steam-roll every team, not going to happen in the premier league, every points are hard fought.
@Samuel
I understand where you are coming from, like I said, I acknowledge Newcastle now as a really good side, better than how I rate Arsenal even. Never have I even assumed we are going to steam roll any team in the league, which by the way is a rarity these days, but we now go into games with uncertainties like never before
@Fletch
Yeah mate. Howard responsible for the entire Mourinho dynasty.
Anyway. Plenty of things went wrong that day. Scholes’ clear goal getting disallowed, Howard punching the free kick back into danger and none of our defenders getting to the ball before Costinha did. You should always be prepared that your goalie might not block the ball.
Howard had a good first 6 months, but as soon as Rio got suspended, his performances deteriorated. That happens to a goalkeeper when the defence in front is full of uncertainity. We saw it happen to De Gea last season and we saw it happen to Linde last week. There’s no ideal solution I feel. Lindegaard should start tomorrow though. No reason for another switch at this point.
@Marq. Im 32 but i can remember in the 80s 88 to be precise getting brought to oldtrafford for the first time and majority of our games had that tention of not being able to predict an out and out win. Tbh its what made me fall in love with united in the first place.
Marq – I agree a about the uncertainties is but in life, nothing is for certain. Add the big improvement of the premier league and football teams around the world in general with quality players seen in every team these days + the fact united still don’t look entirely intact then it only encourages a constant nervy navigation of teams. United have to start sharper and quicker for this game, the right blend of team is important for a tough encounter and gotta defend solidly.
O and id thought id say we ended up 11th that season.. i think alot of our support is spoilt to the point were they think its a god given write to win every game every season all the time.. lets be happy with what we are. 1 of the greatest teams in the world. C,mon United!
*Right*
If the manager picks players with energy, youth, speed and determination we will stand a far better chance than if he picks players who have been ill, who are old or who are too comfortable with past achievements.
For me I would definitely have certain players starting today – Rafael and Buttner and Cleverley and Andersom – Kagawa and Van Persie must start also if we are to stand a chance.
If he starts with Giggs in the midfield or even on the wing and thinks “Darren can do a job” against their midfield then I am really worried that we will not only get beaten but will get humiliated.
I would also like to see the Manager having done HIS job and made sure that the team has a designated penalty taker, is fired up from the first whistle and then stands on the sideline to give necessary bolllockings, tactical tweaks and encouragement .
I would like to see Mike Phelan in the carpark washing the coach and emptying the chemical toilets ready for the journey back – He can sit and read his copy of Razzle in the drivers seat til the game`s over.
The games tomorrow dumbass and why does everyone thing buttners the great savior when no one had fuckin heard of him before he signed.
I have a bad feeling Newcastle is going to edge this on Sunday for a 2-1 or 3-2 win taking into consideration the poor form of the united defense.
dubba yoo says:
“The games tomorrow dumbass”
You are of course correct – I suspect you will spend all of today and all of tomorrow being a rude malevolent little prick who never ever makes a simple mistake.
Go suck a fat dick you rude little pedant.
Snidey little pricks like you ruin forums like this by thinking you can be blunt and rude to others from the safety of your keyboard – If you went into the REAL world behaving like you do here you would be getting twatted in the face at least a dozen times a day.
Cisse or Ba are not threats. Only when the ball is at Ben Arfa’s feet, Newcastle are dangerous.
Fergie’s comments are really weird… How many clubs, regularly changes goalkeepers as much as we do when there isn’t any injuries? No one, and there is a bloody good reason for that.
sorry reds but i think tomorrow will be yet another wake up call, our midfield will be overun by cabaye and tiote. Ben arfa will cause Ferdinand problems no end. Ba and Cisse together will get a few clear cut chances and take the majority of em and i can see it being 2-1, 3-1 to the barcodes. Sorry fellow devils but if you dont think we need atleast another world class midfielder and a world class centre half then you are deluded, sneijder and hummels would do fine untill then we wont get 20…
cmon!! @meatnpotato,
Tomorrow will be a huge battle, but have some faith, after all we are united. Don’t start being negative, before the game haven’t even been played. The last game where we had Scholes, Carrick and Giggs together made us being overun, cause we didn’t have the speed.
This time I don’t think we will get overun.
We have midfielders to cover them, Cleverley, Anderson, Fletcher and Powell. But I agree with you that we definetily need one midfielder more to cover.
It’s just that I don’t agree bringing Sneijder, what’s the poin when we have Kagawa
Hummels is a great choice, but he is german and I doubt it that he does a Mertesacker and comes to play in England.
Trust in our young defenders, by the time you will see Smalling and Jones dominating the scenes, they are quite young and for now injured, but they will shine, believe that.
If we need something more, it’s a player like Götze, Reus or Iker Muniain. For me, I would bring Iker Muniain for us, if we decide to sell for example Nani (which I wouldn’t never sell myself), but at the right price, maybe it is time for Nani t ogo and prove himself somewhere else ( it hurts me saying this, cause I have total faith in the lad) everybody knows that I am the first to defend him.
Anyway, even though if we wanted a player, it won”t be happening cause the next window is in january and all good players should be Cup-tied.
peace.
I’ve got us down for a 2 nil defeat. The European traveling and our midfield sucks, so does our left back. The formation we play isn’t working. Our fitness is poor, we used to have the better stamina. They are a quality team. And to top it all scholes and/or giggs will both play.
….and fergie has proved me wrong on more than a few occasions. I hope this is one of them. 3 defeats in the league with arse, citeh and chelski to play home and away, this will be the end of our league challenge, if one of them have a good season.
Yeah Sneijder is a great call seeing as though he has a thigh injury. He has been riddled with injuries. That ship has LONG sailed.
That’s the attitude Ice Cube.
Err 2 defeats Ice Cube.
^trolling, I see, KE? rip that fucker apart! ha, fans they call themselves.
Here goes the doom and gloom mongers.. Goodness
King eric – that sneijder thing will never stop, fergie has never showed an interest, you’d think some would let it go.
@weareutd, you made some fair points,
i just hope to god fergy doesn’t play giggs in midfield! I think scholes and ando/clevs would be okay or maybe even fletcher if fergy has trust in him, i think the only way we will be able to break them down is via the wings in the shape of nani and tonyv (if fit), i also like nani i think on his day he is the most skillful and technically gifted player in the squad its just his inconsistency can piss me off and i dont think fergy will stand for it much longer, would love to see him sign a new contract though.
I dont think we need anyone like reus of munian, they are bother attacking mids/wingers and weve got loads of them (kagawa being the latest addition). I hate the fact that whenever someone mentions sneijder people instantly shake their heads, he has been in the top 3 mids (under xavi and iniesta) for years now imo and is only 28 we could easily get our money worth on him, he is injury prone but so is rvp and we took a risk on him.
Failing sneijder why not a defensive mid like strootman or tiote? We need a good defensive mid to partner fletch
Sorry about the lack of faith, i just have a gut feeling about this one!! But come on you reds
I really hope that De Gea starts the game. I like Lindegaard but if we are to start attacks quickly then De Gea is a far better distributor of the ball. Also, if we get caught on the break I think DeGea is by far the better shot stopper – some of the saves he has already made for us have been gifted rather than good.
The biggest improvement you would see in De Gea would be if he had a settled and Centre half partnership – ideally one which can jump to protect him a bit better as Rio is now unable to jump at all it appears as witnessed when DeFoe mugged him at OldTrafford.
@tom c, just because i have an opinion that doesn’t fit yours im suddenly not a proper fan?
not sneijder again. please. buy back kleberson.
tomorrow will be a hard game. hope we play well from the start itself.. if we do, we will win.
fancy facing newcastle when the have had 2 days rest less than us.
hope this team starts
De Gea
rafael rio evans buttener
carrick clev
ando rooney kagawa
RVP.
wont happen though,
Costas, Cheers mate. Was trying top point out the rotation issue and the fact that goalies, rightly or wrongly, get alot of the blame. We arn’t talking about the goalies failings are we, we are only talking about fergies rotation policy. Nobody seems to like it, but we lost a game, and nobody, except me a bit (hangs head), blamed the keeper.
But still think we win v Spurs if DeGea was in goal.
The amount of negativity among our fans today is baffling me. we have been pampered with so much success for the past 2 decades (thank you SAF!) hence we start to take things for granted. It’s like we’re the victim of our own success. Have some faith fellas.
If you want a team full of stars go and support City or Madrid. If u want a team full of energy you can choose A.Bilbao perhaps, they ran us inside out in europa cup. If you want to support ManUtd get behind the team!
It’s okay to criticize the team after a bad performance, but to spit venom even before we kick the ball…. that’s just absurd. And to to go on and declare that we won’t win the next title until we have another star CM & CB, it just shows what sort of glory hunters some of us are.
To all doom and gloomers pls go to united rant. They hardly say anything positive about the club and they always want fergie out. I’m sure it’ll make your day.
I hope many of you will eat your words when we beat newcastle tomorrow.
C’mon United! Believe!
am all for supporting our players but if we continue playing carrick our midfield will never improve he was a good player for his first three seasons but after that he has become a nervous wreck who cant stand up to any half decent midfielder and you can through around stats but all he does is pass backwards….am a fan of carrick’s passing style and he used to be on par or even better than alonso wen he was still at assfield but right now i dont think he is even better than the likes od mulumbu, diaby, diame etc..
bigwill09 : read mig78′s post and apply it to yourself. cheers.
Mig78 well said mate!! United we are forever!
Why are journos always linking us with African players. No disrespect, because lads like Drogs are quality, but Fergie has proven, by years of watchin, that he won’t have a player that leaves for the African Cup of Nations. Think the last, maybe only time we tried was John Obi Mikel, an look how that worked out. Think part of the reason that Fergie agreed to let him go was that we got 5M for a lad who never played a minute for us, and knowing he was off for the ACN a few months later.
I am completely behind the manager on this. If ACN could be encapsulated on normal international breaks I think there would be no problem. But Drogs and John Obi missed a month on the last one and then Drogs got malaria on top of all that. Just to expensive to pay top money and then loose the player for the run in.
Prove me wrong, but I’m betting we won’t go for this Celtic lad either.
So basically no Africans, Germans or midfielders then…
@rohan_19: am not being a glory hunter but if you look at carrick’s perfomance even you could say that they have been hardly inspiring for a senior member of the squad
a team is as good as its heart in midfield….i have been through some rough seasons
with united but its okay to loose the odd game or not win a trophy but if we do it playing like united, playind with our usual swagger.we are loosing our aura of invisibility
even small teams now think they can take us on even at O.T…the truth is carrick’s lack of nerves is infectious and almost all our plyers are starting to become sloppy like him.
Afternoon
Diego….
Now you got it.
Fergies methods, love em or…… or not
Cheers
…. actually never said that we don’t try to get German lads. Think we have tried on several. That one isn’t down to a seeming club policy.
You don’t agree then?
Match day tomorrow very, very excited
Hopefully we get all three points
Get in lads, united, united, united!!!!!!!
And apparently city are without their fat head captain, and they don’t look the same without him. Not even joking, if City don’t get all three points today I can see Mancini being sacked on Monday.
!!!
Not a dig at you man. It is baffling how we don’t have a German in our team. We have been linked with some but they never seem to amount to anything. So I just included that one. Personally, I would hate it if it is some kind of policy of SAF’s. We were linked to İlkay Gündoğan when he was at Nurnberg. Don’t know why that never happened, now he is a brilliant player and bossed the fuck out of City’s midfield. Ozil is the other one. Reus was a massive talent also.
The emptyhad living up it’s name, empty seats dotte everywhere. Embarrassing situation for the champions of England.
Yesterday missing out on the biggest drama
that was funny, and for once had to back cashley on that :p
Ashley calling the FA bunch of twats
That was some balls!!!
Joff… Not watching the game as I can’t really stomach an local links loving to dote on the “Champions”.
Just hope they are keeping that trophy well polished for it’s return home in June
I heard a rumor that the Queen of whatever was buying up huge blocks of tickets so the receipts look way more respectable than bums on seats. Wonder if she also orders beer and prawn sandwiches for those empty seats
Diego, Cheers, Completely agree. Think we have tried loads of times to get German players. I have commented several times on this. Spanish players as well. Once they are on the national team, the command ridiculous sums. The media of both countries ply these lads with huge contracts. I was surprised we got De Gea as he will likely be Spain #1. Fully believe that the only reason Pool have Reina is that he is 3rd choice for Spain. Had to laugh when lads were linking us w Cassillas 2 summers ago. I would have bet money against that…… and I never bet
But back to Germany, it is passing sad I agree. And the Bundesliga is a great league.
Why would the manager have a,policyof not signing germans? You and your usual strange unfounded conspiracies. Ron-Robert Zieler was once a keeper at united, where is he from?
Buy this and buy that, this football club is not run by oligarchs. United actually do have talents waiting to make the break through. Why not buy the entire german national team.
Samuel. READ THE TEXT mate. Said that there seemed to be a policy on Africans because of the ACN. Topic then wandered into why we don’t have Germans and I clearly said that there is no lack of trying there. Difference!
Fergie has had one of the most cosmopolitan groups of teams. He has not specifically picked or not picked a country to buy from. Baffled.
Buy this buy that? The players I mentioned wouldn’t have been very expensive. We seem to be happy to spend lots of money on young English talent when young foreigners, who hasn’t quite made it at the national stage yet, could be bought on the cheap. Mostly they’d be better quality too.
Fletch – i’ve read it or I wouldn’t reply but that comment wasn’t aimed at you, it’s mainly for diego and his “buy every fucker” doom mongers crew. I totaly get what you mean.
Diego – well that’s united’s policy. United prefer mixing british talents with foreign ones. I don’t see the problem. You might not quite get this but most clubs have a great widespread scout system, united cannot beat everyone to the cheap best and certainly cannot completely raid youth academies.
Really don’t see where I said I want us to buy every fucker out there. I just added a nationality to Fletch notion that we don’t seem to buy any African players. Raid academies? I was talking about a few players we have been liked to in the last few years. Also, we have been picking the best players from academies around the world for years, time to get the head out of the sad man. It is what top teams do.
Samuel…. Cheers. Completely agree on the scouting network and the commitment to home grown.
Speaking of. That Pierra scored a screemer for the U18s today. Still loosing to a very good So’ton team.
Wow, could wait a long long time the here the like of this:
Sky waxing lyrical about Ryan Shawcross. Get in Ryan! Spot on, he deserves his place in England and that’s a fact.
United youth player and complete quality !
So basically united should buy every player they get linked with?, I bet the glazers would love that and unlike us fans, united isn’t the be all for most players. I’m not against picking players from academies as teams do that but the idea that united have to spot every class player is unrealistic.
Fletch – that perriera is a talent, could be hearing about him making the next step up. The current u18′s is a different breed to the ones we had before them, these ones need a lot of work physically. They have quality but are getting overwhelmed by bigger opponents.
Tough call =) I predict Rooney wil score. It’s time to show us he can win us games on his own.
This oscar lad is playing very well. Great buy for chelsea but I doubt if he stays long.
We may have been poor but we have to understand we are not in full force. Yeah we have lost 2 games but its only early in season so we can afford losing some. Remember last season we started great but we became shit later on. Manchester united only play better when they gradually improve their game and thats what we are doing. So write us off on your risk. I am still confident we will win the league.
Yeah, I get where you coming from, but still, Sneijder, it’s plain crazy to go for him. Not bashing you or anything.
As for Scholes and Giggsy at the midfield, well we know what happens when they are together in the middle, so I bet nobody wants to see that.
Kagawa is a more of an attacking midfielder, so it’s not crazy to go after Iker Muniain or Götze (even though he’s German, hard to get) For me we need also a winger, if Nani’s contract runs off or he is sold. Not saying we should get him in January. He is talented, a prospect and could bring something new to our team, also I think DeGea’s best friend. Would help him alot.
As for a defensive midfielder, well maybe you could be right, I don’t know anything about Strootman and Tiote is ok, so not sure about that. But you never know. This is only my opinion, and I respect yours.
About the lack of faith, well I for myself never have lack of faith for our team, cause I know even though we play sometimes badly, we can always get a result. Maybe I don’t trust our midfield combinations sometimes, but I trust my team.
I think we fans need to be patient. We have some talented players who could be great. Kagawa has still not fully settled, so we are yet to see the real game from him. He is a match winner and combine him with RVP and rooney we are looking at one of the best attacks. Nani is still a crucial player. I have a feeling he wants to stay but he feels like he is unwanted here. I think that is affecting his game . We need to supprt him. Cannot afford to lose talent like nani.
Once smalling and jones are fit then we will be looking at our future defencive duo. Mark my words we are in for a exciting time. Those who think we are in decline can think that way but according to me we are developing into a major force.
So people are going gaga over the performance of chelsea. SO lets take a look at the opponents they have faced so far
Wigan (A)
Reading (H)
Newcastle(H)
QPR(A)
Stoke(H)
Arsenal(A)
Norwich(H)
Now howcome a team finishing 6th last season gets such an easy start. Just wait and watch how they crumble.
Ash: Against who exactly, lol. Of course we would go through a rough spell, but we are the best team in the league so far, playing the best football.
@ ash i thnk Newcastle and arsenał r to gud victories for chelski. Ive got ths Feeling we are guna do them 2mro. Wazza and rvp r world class and they will turn it on 2mro!!
@Ash
Do you think that United need to develop a more European playing team like when Carlos Queiroz was United number 2? United have some good players with alot of potential but getting them to all play in the same team in a team to their strengths seems to be a problem at the moment.
Although United lost to Tottenham that second half was some of the best football I’ve seen United play in a very long time.
@Ash,
despite the easy schedule chelsea has had , they are getting three points and finishing off their opponents, These are the games that you are glad you pulled out the win and didn’t drop points. come the end of the season. Nobody once to lose a title because you drew against reading in october. that would be a shit day
Ash, I don’t think it’s a case of Kagawa not settling, I think it’s more the fact we’ve not played to his strengths. We saw Dortmund midweek with their quick 1-2 passing and you can see why Kagawa thrived so much in that side. Kagawa has already had a slight moan about United about the slow tempo and sideways passing in our team and I agree with him.
@Joffrey Baratheon
You’re right there. Dortmund press alot higher up the pitch meaning Kags had more players around him to thread the ball through to in that area of the pitch.
It’s a concern I’m sure Fergie is fully aware off concerning getting the best out of Kagawa. United have lost a lot of the tempo they used to play with over the years which has been extremely frustrating and resulted in far too many boring games. Football is a very simple game in terms of pass and move but unfortunately barring Scholes in the centre we are lacking good footballers with an eye for a pass. Carrick shows it in glimpses but no where near enough. He needs too much time to think about things before picking out a brilliant pass. Van Persie played a brilliant ball into Kagawa against Spurs and he showed his class with 3 great touches.
Chelsea fan
Yeah you have played the best football but only against average opponents. Honestly dude you were damn lucky against Arsenal. If not for their stupid defending you wouldn’t have won. Playing against norwich and reading is not a tough thing. I want to see how you lots perform when you are given a proper competition. So keep hold of your celebration.

The fact that we are not playing to our strengths shows that the best is yet to come. I know we have been well below par but we have still managed to score goals consistently. It is the defending that is creating problem. We need fit defenders. Thats why I said we will be a force once we have smalling and jones available fully fit. Sir alex is still finding what is the best combination. I just hope he knows his best XI in important games. It will take some more time. We have to be patient. Look it took three season before we could get best out of ronaldo. It takes time. Kagawa is a real deal if used properly.
The big positive so far for us in this season has been the improvement of rafael. Kid is playing some amazing football. We have to be patient with the young players, be it Cleverley or Rafael or kagawa or Powell. We cannot get the reward so soon.
Dortmund are one hell of a side. ANd they have not become like that in one season. It must have taken few years for their manager to assemble such a strong side. We can buy Goetze,Reus and lewondoski but that won’t mean we will play like them. It is called chemistry. Kagawa needs more time with fellow attackers and midfielders. Thats why I want Sir alex to know his best XI. Constant changing of team won’t help the new players settle in. Kagawa is linking well with Nani and RVP because these guys are playing together regularly. Honestly Rooney Kagawa combination is great. Rooney has been playing well since his return (3 assist already). Cleverley will suit kagawa. Even tom himself mentioned that. SO i hope We see more of Kagawa and cleverly.
chelsea fan : torres is scoring goals. that shows the quality of teams your team are playing
I’m not too concerned about Chelsea to be honest. Their status of European champions can lead you to believe they’re far better than what they are. Was unconvinced with them against Stoke, Wigan and Arsenal games they went on to win mind you but they’ve got it all to prove in the long run. They have some good footballers now (especially Mata) but with just Torres and Sturridge up top they are going to come up short. Terry is also an accident waiting to happen as he now turns slower than a boat. City are the team to beat this season and so far I’m afraid to admit I don’t think United will be quite up to it but it’s a long season so we shall wait and see.
Afternoon
I’ll have to agree with CHELSEA FAN their team is playing some great stuff and really scoring goals and they’re currently one of the inform teams in the league.
but we don’t need to worry a lot some of the teams they have faced were either unlucky on the day or just didn’t play to their strengths, like if you take newcastle, they were freaking disappointing and I expected them to give chav a hell of a game. Watch them tomorrow they will play like its a cup final teams always rising their game vs us
Joffrey
Honestly this is too early to predict anything. So its difficult to say who the real threat will be. 2 weeks ago media were saying arsenal will be the favourites but now they are dropping points. So it is too early to say anything. I will go with you and accept city are our threat.
Cazorla is probably the best midfielder in the league at the moment. Different class.
We need to win tomorrow . Already Chelsea, man city and arsenal looking good . So 3 PTs is a must
Tiote, Cabaye and Fletcher form a strong midfield, unless SAF comes up with something it’s going to be another painful game to watch. Cannot even imagine how Giggs,Scholes and Carrick will get raped for starting it.
@Diego
you are absolutely right.
You can see that in premier league, the best midfielders are spanish. Silva, Mata and Cazorla.
For me this tells, that we should and have to go after a spaniard, for many good reasons, we could add that spanish mentality, DeGea gets a spanish friend to help him and the guy who comes and the most, we could change our playing style with a spaniard. Kagawa, VanPersie, Rooney combined with a spaniard.
I said earlier that we need a Götze, Reus and Muniain kinda guy. We all know the fact that german players are hard to get. Though Podolski and Mertesacker are here. Ballack was also.
No matter what happens with Nani, even though Sadly I am in a belief that if he won’t get his act together, he will be shown the door
That’s why, our number 1 target next summer, should be Iker Muniain, Isco or Óscar de Marcos.
My personal favourite is Iker Muniain.
I think its a bit rich for (cant remember who) to talk about City’s empty seats. The seats have been empty at OT recently mainly because of the price. Surely this emptyhad is beating the dead horse. Let it go.
Cant see us beating Newcastle mainly because Fergie will fuck around.
De Gea
Rafael Rio Evans Evra
Valencia Ando Clev Kagawa ….. (whoever put Ando playing right is mentally ill)
Rooney VanPersie
JOffrey Baratheon @ 17:15: “I’m sure Fergie is fully aware off concerning getting the best out of Kagawa. United have lost a lot of the tempo they used to play with over the years which has been extremely frustrating and resulted in far too many boring games.”
It’s getting to be shit-or-get-off-the-pot time for SAF – is he going to persist with yesterday’s reliance of TheGingerNinja/MichaelCarrick and two wingers ? or is he going to commit to changing the style to be more in tune with the way almost every other team plays – no wingers, clogging up the middle ??
IF Fergy had two really dynamic central midfielders then I could see logic in persisting with the “traditional” wingers and some sort of 4-4-2 BUT – for whatever reason – UTD just don’t have those players at the present time. so it’s going to be necessary to make adjustments to fit the system to the players – TheWayneBoy, KagawaBunga and RVP – rather than vice-versa.
It would sadden me to see the likes of Nani and Chicharito becoming surplus-to-requirements but, as is often said, no player is more important that the team. So be it.
what we do know is that we need to win tomorow….at least a draw…being 7 points behind chelsea,is not a good thing….also being behind city aswll isnt good…tbh we shouldve beat tottenham last week, and we shdve beat everton…..we won both games last yr….
lets hope we see ando clev and carrick or fletch tomo…and no scholes and giggs with all due respect to these legends..
i also think we miss valencia…………………………………………….
I agree with above comment. Plan a ando and clevs in the middle then bring on scholes and giggs last 20mins or so..
………..de gea
rafael ferdy evans evra
………..carrick
cleverly anderson
……….kagawa
…rooney van persie hopefully
……….lindegaard
rafeal ferdy evans evra
……..carrick scholes
nani rooney kagawa
…….van persie probably
call me a pessimist or whatever you wanna, but who wants to bet that fergie will start with old legs and we’d fuck it all up. i’d rather our young’uns keep playing together, and fail than keep using the oldies and fail. seriously.
Talk about “fatalistic”, fucking hell.
Reading some of these comments I don’t know where to begin… Who in their right mind writes off United at the start of October anyway? Thats as daft as saying Everton and West Brom will play in the Champions League next season. The table doesn’t tell us fuck all about May and more to the point NOT EVEN MANCINI would write us off in October, so don’t be so sodding soft in the head ffs!
^
I say write us off. I love a good upset
I fear a midfield of Giggs abd Scholes will let United down tomorrow.
I like RVP and Rooney to cause havoc up front.
I worry for the back four if Giggs and Carrick are their shield.
@Daniel
The empty seats at OT you are talking about is during a league cup game. City couldn’t even sell out in a CL match let alone a league game
@ Marq
No.
They were in Champions League and to a lesser extent Premier League games.
Please dont tell me they weren’t I saw them empty in person.
The League Cup attendance was down so dramatically because of the pricing which has been highlighted on this blog.
Thanks.
@Daniel
Us not being able to fill our stadium has no bearing on City having lots of empty seats in important games. Clearly we have no such problems in most games. So just pointing out the we are not beating a dead horse.
That said, I have always insisted we should spend our time supporting our own club & players rather than waste time mocking others
I hope the boss doesn’t tinker about with the squad, I for one would like to see the team that played in mid week, putting into account that evra is slowly but surely running out of energy and the prime example for that was the way he let the clujs winger get behind him and cross for the goal. If a few changes are necessary out of the team that played mid week only kagawa in and evra out are more necessary than not.
De gea aswell, I feel like if we play him tomorrow he’s gonna save the day like he always does
Its a worrying scenario with all our injuries woes, on paper we got a great squad probably the best in the league but yet we don’t get to see those guys have a run of games without contracting a niggling…
Jones for some xtent thought he would be available for selection by now but seems like he most often gets injured in training than in the playing field which is more worrying. Has smalling returned yet? http://injuryleague.com/current-injuries/ us again at the top of the injury table
Today we have a must win match vs a very tricky opponent, this newcastle team did us a bad one last season putting 3 past us
And we were coming at the back of a 3-2 defeat to blackburn likely this time we had a game in mid week which might have bolstered our confidence after a loss to spur in the league.
My line – up would be:
What’s yours?
4-4-2
………………..DDG
Rafael.— rio ferdinand. — evans—-buttner
–Valencia/fletcher-cleverley-anderson-kagawa—
—————rooney–van persie——————-
4-3-3
4-2-3-1. Same players!!!! Cheers
The wining here is keeps me off. This are the same guys who will claim they were behind the team after we win! “like if they are given all the stars in the world, you’ll have the same starting 11! support the team or shut up. Yes we have lost two games, but we have drawn none(which to me doesn’t make a big difference ) Your wining makes me sick.
OT attendances so far this season in the EPL and Europe:
Fulham: 75.352
Wigan: 75.142
Galatasaray: 74.653
Tottenham: 75.556
Looks pretty full to me.
They say the city is theirs, 20k empty seats are they fucking sure???
heard they were trying to sign the dortmund supporters after the game, it was hilarious
Ever turn on a city game and see a full house?
Fucking doubt it
Costas
Cheers mate. The issue was about League cup games being overpriced and i agree. it’s total bollox. why not try to keep prices down to encourage people to come watch United at such a legendary stadium and entice them to come see it in all it’s glory at a European game, or an intense EPL match? Seems it would generate more interest, hence increase fanbase and support, also keep the common man happy, not all can afford the high ticket prices. Something for those greedy bastard yanks to think about eh
United to win 2-1.
Kagawa sets up Rooney for the win.
@capitano
Its no whining just stating the obvious.
Was your comment aimed at me??
But you’re right, for along time haven’t seen too much negativity on here. Hopefully we do them a new one today!!!
That would atleast bring some belief in our supporters cause currently its missing
@utd_fc
Oh yeah, I fully agree on that subject. I never got the high prices for games like that anyway. It’s not like we play our strongest team. It was a good opportunity for plenty of reds that don’t get a chance to attend league games to fill the ground. Sadly, it’s not something I expect the owners to fix anytime soon. Ticket prices getting frozen is the most positive scenario I feel.
My comment was also in referrence to whether there are empty seats at OT in major competition fixtures. While I doubt there’s a complete sell out in most games (and that also depends on how the opposition’s fans sell out their allocation), I think we’re doing better than City. This page confirms that:

what gives
Now is probably not the time, but saw this video on Hummels, so just sharing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_3twbnbm54&feature=related
Primarily plays as a centerback, but he has fantastic passing range and is clean with his tackles
Rom has a muppet and troll infestation, never read so much nonsense and negativity
denton davey – I think fergie needs to change systems to get the best out of kagwa, nani has done very little, valencia and young are injured, why not play a diamond of
carrick
anderson clevely
kagwa
with rooney and RVP upfront, we could see someone like kagwa feed the ball to rooney and RVP, and get hold of the ball more with cleverly and anderson hassling opponents
Official team news;
Peter Smiechel
Gary Neville Rio Ferdinand Steve Bruce Denis Iriwn
Roy Keane
Bobby Charlton Paul Scholes
Cristiano Ronaldo George Best
Dennis Law
Substitutes, Alex Stepney, Nemanja Vidic, Bryan Robson, Paddy Crerand, Ryan Giggs, Eric Cantona, Wayne Rooney
Manager: Alex Ferguson
Assistant Manager: Matt Busby
Dammit!!!!!! Just woke up, helluva dream though.
I think we need to move kagawa out wide to get the best of him. He looks too restricted in the middle to make enough impact. Teams know how good he is so they crowd out the middle and so he can’t do a lot in there. Move him out wide and give him freedom to roam and watch how he rips the shit out of defenses.
Also Fergie really needs to STOP rotating keepers. There is CLEARLY a better goalkeeper. DAVID DE GEA. plus he’s younger. We didn’t put 20 million pounds on the lad to rotate him. make him the starter and bring some more stability to the side.
Utd will never die
Hi pal i agree with you. This site is infiltrated with imbeciles.Too much negativity on here.No wonder the regulars had to wuit.Shame eh?sort it out str
quit oopsy daisy
Pal Ghai – negativity? the way the team has been playing, and the boss’s seem refusal to realize, you cannot play wingplay 442 with players nearly in their 40′s, if we saw negativity but we saw results fall our way, yea I will agree, but to bash some fans who are not happy in the way the side has been playing since 2009, is wearing the redtinted specs. This is manchester united, and I am sorry, the team’s performance levels, and results wise, have been abysmal since 2009, we had a gd 2010/11 season home wise and CL, I will give you that
what possible positives can fans take from the current side? because I cannot see any, and like always these days, I expect another dire performance from united
What is the shortcut to ‘copy’ or ‘paste’
Off topic but a fantastic analysis of the disgraceful racist behaviour by Terry and his obnoxious mate Ashley Cole! Lies told by the players and the Chelsea staff. Lets hope the FA have the guts to act on this. Rio was spot on in his tweet!!
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/oct/06/editorial-john-terry-ashley-cole-chelsea-england
FACT: Paul Scholes has scored more goalsagainst Newcastle thanagainstany other team (9) Proverb
Hi mate what does MOTD mean?cheers in advance no insults pliz
The side is going through transition period
We must be patient with the lads, its worth to note that we’re trying out to play a new system which is the diamond 4-3-3 it can’t just click overnight….
While agreeing that a 4-4-2 system is a no no in europe, even in the league we are now getting found out teams have studied us well and simply by shutting our wings with our ever depressing midfield we do not come up with a plan B.
The diamond system is very welcome we were getting overrun in midfield but it to click we need one established defensive mid
Happy Match Day Reds!
Come on Man United!
ps Remember to will on Manchester United, not just plain old United.
Else the Football Gods might think you’re calling for NUFC, not MUFC.
Pal Ghia.
what are you talking about regulars had to quit.you are talking about a team of guys who considered this was their blog and intimidated en masse any one they wanted to.They have fucked of to start another site where they can talk among themselves about cooking telly girl presenters and the latest knitting patterns, well rid imo
I will be mightily pissed if Buttner doesnt start this game. Not sure what is going on with Evra at the moment, some say he’s shit when I think he’s had a good game. That’s opinions.
He really seams like he’s forgotten how to defend and leaves too many gaps, his judgement is all over the place.
So here is my line up folks
————- De Gea ————
Rafael — Rio —- Evans—Buttner
——- Carrick —- Clevs ——-
Nani—-Rooney—-Kagawa——–
—————Robin————-
Scholes to come on late on, Welbeck too along with Anderson.
I hope Evans is fit so Wootton is on the bench and I pray SAF has lost his patience and rag with Evra and will drop the bobby no brain but I doubt it now, the fella is Vice Fucking Captain and is temporarily in charge.
Pal gay you realize how stupid you are..
MOTD
Match – of – the – day, now tell me what was it for?
Parry
Piss of you are a wum.You attacked Cantona and Kanchelskis. We all agree unanimously that we miss folk like cedarsRvp,james, mike, giggs, rednut, balji, teej, peednas etc
cheers proverb. It was just an idiom you old fart
parry
which other site are you talking about? Can you please send me a link.
@danield7848
whate the hell man!!!
Why David Beckham isn’t included today at least in the subs.
SAF is being crazy today again. We need his pinpoint crossers. This Ferguson Becks grudge has lasted too long
meanwhile in the real world: can’t wait for the game to be played and grab that win today!
Even with the injuries, I think we have the players to win games like the newcastle game, the problem is when we put out wrong formations and tactics, as happened in the totthenam game. I will wait to see the starting line-up first before I put my money on us winning.
Pal gay the way I see you, I bet you would get knackered if you ever showed up there, it was because of you cockroach kinda attitude that caused them to move to the other forum
Note this: never call me old fart again
@parryheid
i totally agree with you, the cedars and some others just talked nonsense here, and when you said something then they bashed you.
I admit thath there were soem good commentators for the guys, but they aren’t running this site.
And I also hate when people startd slating our team, but that doesn’t change the reality that something is missing at the moment, but I trust 100% that RVP, Rooney Kagawa combination will soon come together and bring that old flow again. Just be patient.
And it might start today, cause we saw that second half against Tottenwho whre we played our game. Shame we didn’t get a result.
Just take it in patience and it will come good.
Pal Ghai – Back off!
parryheid is NOT a wum, and you are NOT the blog police.
There is NO unanimous agreement on who is missed.
If you don’t like it here, fuck off.
Pal Ghia.
You dont need a link you fucker you are probably one of them who has slithered back on here and if you want to fantasize about the duece you mentioned have fun.And dont be daft enough to try to talk for the posters on here with your we unanimously agree.Twat

shush pal,i will unleash tonebee on yah
Parry is a fine RoM dude. Or dudett? Dude! Consistent cutting and some times funny as fuck.
Dr Dread GREAT GAME DAY!!!!!!
RvP and Rooney 90 mins? or so together!!!
For Gods sake we have a pretty tough match and this is the argument we are having? Can we concentrate on our dear club please?
Fergie is the boss @ 12:13: “why not play a diamond of
carrick
anderson clevely
kagwa
with rooney and RVP upfront”
Why not, indeed ?
The answer will be that SAF is “loyal” to TheGingerNinja and MIchael Carrick – despite all the evidence to the contrary notwithstanding that this pairing has real trouble when pressed.
Since footie is such a fluid game, i don’t get too hung up on “formations” – what I’d like to see is combinations of players. In that regard, I’d rather see DarrenFletcherinho in the MichaelCarrickRole and TheWayneBoy/KagawaBunga given “licence to roam” between a midfield trio and RVP.
This is especially the case if you change the strategy from fitting players into a rigid 4-4-2 system into having no “system” but playing the best combination of players.
edhardy
take a bow son.i respect that and i hope same applies to proverb.Peace.Happy match day reds
@edhardy We can’t have a decent conversation unless the troll stop flaming about, he keeps on posting randomly
I aint no oracle but we gonna hammer the geordies 4-1.Waiting for the kickoff now.Wazza is sure to redeem himself today and Rvp will continue his fine streak.
I will like to see this lineup
De Gea
Rafael. Ferdinand. Evans. Buttner
Fletcher
Anderson. Cleverly
Rooney. Kagawa
RVP
Subs: lindergaard, smalling, scholes, welbeck, hernandez, powell, nani
I believe Evra needs a rest, he looks knackered and is causing his poor performance. Carrick also needs a rest. I would have started with smalling and rested ferdinand but I currently don’t know the extent of his recovery so it will be a sort of dangerous risk to start him. Think this midfield will be good enough to stop cabaye, tiote and ben arfa. If we are able to hold them in the midfield, it will keep them busy and giving the ball to cisse and ba. They will also free up rooney, RVP and kagawa and hope to see good interpositional play from them. United Forever!!!
edhardy says:
I will like to see this lineup
De Gea
Rafael. Ferdinand. Evans. Buttner
Fletcher
Anderson. Cleverly
Rooney. Kagawa
RVP
I am happy with that line up with the exception of Fletcher.
Not a massive Carrick Fan but would put him there ahead of Fletcher.
I would however prefer to put in either Powell or Petrucci – Lets REALLY start being a club that gives youth a chance instead of just saying we do.
As Cleverley is 23 and a full International I no longer consider him as “one of the youngsters”
DD spot on mate, double roamers with RvP floating and rotating on occasion as well.
Rooney is ready for this role at this time of his carrier. Kagawa is made to roam.
Fletcher against a dynamic, energetic newcastle mid is pure suicide.Your line up looks good but i aint sure fletcherinho will keep us afloat in this fast-paced game where we need our three points
Ando-Cleverly should start. After a long time I am seeing people aren’t expecting us to get 3 points. I say it is a good sign because we may actually get 3 points. Rooney is coming back to his best. I think he will score today. Rooney-Rvp-Kagawa combo to shine today.
And by the way this blog is better now. No one is missing anyone. So lets concentrate on the game.
4 PL titles
1 CL tittle
180+ goals
plays hard run till he pukes
plays fb, cmf, lw, 10, 9 anywhere his gaffer tells him
SAF makes changes through him
Redeem , redemption from what , having his leg tor open?
Edhardy says:
“I will like to see this lineup
De Gea
Rafael. Ferdinand. Evans. Buttner
Fletcher
Anderson. Cleverly
Rooney. Kagawa
RV”
Great like up mate its all well and good mentioning the tom & jerry combo the fact that the two haven’t lost a game together while operating in the engine room say it all, my only concern is that there are more important people than you and me who seem reluctant to to acknowledge the devastating moral boost the two bring into the team, very rarely we get overrun in the midfield with them interchanging position in the midle of the park.
Less yada yada, here hoping the boss doesn’t drop them today
Wazza and Robin have fun, take what they give you.
Play hard like CHAMPIONS!!!!
BUST EM IN THE MOUTH!!!!I love game days, go MAN UTD!!!!!
That was copy written!
Yeah wazza has to redeem himself after all the flak he got before the injury.People called him fat so he has to redeem himself and shut the fuckers who doubted his proefessionalism.Any probs with that?I dont think so
No probs probve, stupid is as stupid does, punishment enough. Not need to pile on.
Original tough is so tough for most, plagiarizing so simple now.

These friends become should be executed, exorcised from ones being.
I’ve thought about through and agree with shinji and pal ghai that maybe it will be too much for Fletcher to handle. But I pray that Ando and Cleverly get a run. I will be sad if I see Giggs and Scholes running from the tunnel to start the match. Scholes is the best player I’ve ever seen( and I’m not wearing my red tinted glasses!) But how long are we going to depend on Scholes? We should be looking into the future and see life after Scholes. People always bash Ando but when was the last time he had a run of games? How do expect such a player to have the necessary match fitness and confidence? He needs to play regularly with Clevs because I believe they are the future.

Pps, stop causing havoc its a freaking blog nothing personal, we all do better things with our lives mind him apparently not much
I wonder why the wind which took the groupies didn’t take him aswell hehehe, ps it might have ignored the putted
He showed up there in the hole a couple of time and his papi ignoring him like fuck I wonder why
Maybe bcouse he thought he would strive all by himself. But nO fuck nO now crawling back to overlooked
Pal Gay, lol. Only one person is capable of turning the blog into sachu mess.
I wonder how many, or how few, points we have accrued in the last ten games Scholes and Giggs have started together? Anybody have any stats?
If Scholes and Giggs start together today – I think we are going to need five in midfield to try to prevent them running the legs off us – unless we just abandon the idea of having a midfield at all and play five at the back and five up front.
Degea in nets 2day. Rafa Ferdinand evans evra. Carrick. Clevs welbeck Rooney kagawa rvp. Subs lindgerguard tonyv Anderson giggs Hernandez scholes Wootton.
Accusing SAF of losing the plot, saying disgusting comments about Mike Phelan should be washing the coach and cleaning toilets, calling true Utd legends old age pensioners who are past it when Scholes has a passing percentage of around 90 percent, having a go at Carrick when he’s Utd’s hardest working midfielder
None of this is constructive criticism its the work of muppets and trolls Shinji Ninja saying that about Mike Phelan is just vile and a clear indication not a Utd fan
Also the winger formation works when he realize part of their job is to track back and help defensively,if this isn’t happening of course the midfield will get overrun regardless of age
Zibbie @ 14:10: “double roamers with RvP floating and rotating on occasion as well”
As always, SAF surprised with his team selection – TRIPLE roamers with DannyTheLad up-front.
