This threads really popular? I think I speak for the vast majority Scott, when I say, we’d all prefer a look ahead to our next game thread!
@WRN
Gotta put food on the table, hasn’t he?
I guess it’s selfishness in us, we are not considerate! We are the same people who said Europa cup is shit, when we fell out of champs lge and yet we were wining yesterday after being beaten. Human nature!
Keep your money. You never see a poor bookie.
Can’t wait til Sunday my voice has had too much rest. Got to win, simples.
Going to get searched at the turnstiles in preperation for the Olympic games, yeh right more like they want Cedars’ Banner.
Im going to fair as possible in my assessment of our own players yesterday;
De Gea – 11/10, The boy was outstanding and his defence let him down.
Rafa – Was nowhere near Munian all night, lazy and complacent during the goal. Was good attacking.
Evans – Top Boy, 10/10, not one for the future, one for the current, Vidic’s regular partner?
Evra – Great attacking, poor positioning and defending, a liability now at the back, since 2010 .
Jones – Terrible, every Beast has his ugly day & the lad got found for a lack of tactical experience.
Carrick – Great as Usual, he’s a star.
Young – The guy was great and did what was expected and more, great work rate, more crosses please.
Park – Was decent, worked hard to defend and cover a poor Evra but lacked the killer pass + vision.
Anderson – Looked excellent, I like this new Ando, seems slimmer. Haha
Rooney – Poor, a 50% pass rate, two average shots with tons of space, scored 2 but failed to shine. Sounds odd. He looked heavy footed in the 1st half with his mistimed, oddly powered passes.
Chico – Hesitated too often, should shoot more quicker, but can’t blame him, he had Rooney beside him who was in and out of the game.
Yeah, exactly what my main concern is after last night…
I’m all for the tips post myself, always seems on the ball whenever I’ve seen them.
I backed the 3-1 last week, along with a Rooney 1st goal
Love a bet on United, it’s what I know best.
Keep ‘em coming scot
“Where To Put Your Money vs West Brom?”…in to your pocket
That’s the most sense you’ve talked today Mara!
Only kidding!
Man Utd loss and 500+ posts 90% doom and gloom.
Wow give Jones a break, a great young talent had a bad game.
DDG looks good.
When you play so much youth, you have bad days.
SAF went after Sanchez, Snieds and Nasri last year he will go for more long term targets this summer, he got DDG, Young and Jones who was wanted by all big PL clubs and he chose Man Utd.
The double hit of Vida and Fletch to the spine of the team has taken it’s toll.
Still in the PL Man Utd ahead of last years points with an easier run in for 20.
Even the great Barca are 10 points back of Real, and Real can not beat Barca.
All those you have said SAF is past it can fuck off please, the ones who have questioned the great mans tactic’s, well that’s cool.
I see this summer a continuation of SAF plan to reshape the squad while competing for 20 and 21. In two years be back in the CL finals. And compete at that level for another 4 years.
All good things come to an end and we are wittiness’s to SAF last years, we all fear the unknown to a point.
Hello
Phil jones isn’t a midfielder to be honest. He simply hasn’t got the attributes nor the awareness to fulfill such a crucial role in a footballing team plying its trade in the highest echelons of football. People say he is a holding midfielder but you need discipline and efficiency to carry out that role and more often than not, he is found wandering about on the pitch and leaving gaps behind for teams to expose. Perhaps a lack of experience at this level is starting to show in his game.
I’m not confident with him at center half either. Seems to lack the positioning and nous to carry out that role as well as we all want him to, Evidence of him being found wanting was clear when he left Llorente to move freely in the box which in turn resulted into a goal.
The problem with him is, he seems willing to fill every position but that may be detrimental to his all round game. He still lacks experience as it is his first season. The talent/ability is there and without doubt, he also possesses the exuberance to succeed but can it be channeled into the right direction, will he ever make one position his own?.
Yes he will Sam, in 5 years he will be part of Man Utd MF winning trophies. Not in a 4-4-2 set up. a 4-5-1, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 something along those formations. He is young, tired and has played many positions this year because SAF, Capello and Pearce see his greatness.
Still early to make that call. I think he’ll end up there long term. He hasn’t looked assured at CH either. Young players are naive by nature. Agree we should try and find a position for him. That’s up to the boss and the coaching staff to figure out. I’m sure we’ll work it out in the end.
Rooney came to the club at 17? He was to talented to sit. He played LW, 2nd striker, lone striker, in the hole striker, lw of a 4-4-2, lw of a 4-5-1, lw of a 4-3-3, lfb, mf ect. He has turned out OK.
Go Zibbie, you tell em mate.
Phil Jones is getting some very unfair stick, he’s just bloody joined us were the same people slagging Ronaldo when he 1st came to Utd ,some were and look how he rubbed your noses in the dirt. Give Jones a bloody chance its like Judge Jury and executioner sometimes on here, theres gonna be a Lynchin.
We lost a game thats only Half time. Get over it.
UTD UTD UTD
United’s flag is deepest red
It shrouded all our Munich dead
Before their limbs grew stiff and cold
Their heart’s blood dyed it’s ev’ry fold
Then raise United’s banner high
Beneath it’s shade we’ll live and die
So keep the faith and never fear
We’ll keep the Red Flag flying here
We’ll never die, we’ll never die
We’ll never die, we’ll never die
We’ll keep the Red flag flying high
‘Cos Man United will never die.
I have a few things to say about united, and it really has been a 4 year time span that as lead to this road.
For me it starts at the top, we need a change of ownership, money is not been pumped into a very stale squad. But fergie has not bought good enough quality across the board to strengthen the squad enough, the ronaldo money has been the biggest transfer waste of time in years. For me I will never understand how united can sell the second best player in the world and not strengthen the squad. And value for money is not going to cut it, Obvious the glazers have taken the cash and wasted it on interest fees
for me fergie’s big buys have not worked out, berbatov anderson hargreaves have not worked out for all totally different reasons, and fergie has not gone in and solved these problems, he as actually made the wrong decisions in the transfer market, at the time he signed these 3, there was the likes of sanchez aguero modric scneijder all available in 2007 2008 and 09 for under 20 million each, players who fit the system of the 433 and players that can play week in week out.
Now back on the ronaldo cash, what have united bought since CR7 departure? owen valencia bebe hernandez smallen DDG jones and young it is not enough, apart from DDG valencia and possibly jones and smallen, fergie has not bought game changing players that will really see united improve on all fronts. The 3 key summers have seen the squad digress and we are left with a good squad that is a moody squad that can be beaten easily at times, nani and rooney are prime examples of when things do not go their way, they never grab the game by the scruff of the neck and drive the side forward.
For me its been 3 wasted season’s and summers, and I expect another wasted summer, and we will once again have this conversation over and over again. Rant over
who says i’m executing him? read my comments properly. I personally don’t think he has the attributes of a central midfielder. These days, you need more than swashbuckling runs forward to succeed in that role. It requires a fantastic passing range, discipline and tactical awarrness (which to be fair comes with experience), you need great positioning or you’ll be found wanting e.t.c.
Jones was not bought as a midfielder so why some want to turn him into one defies logic. His enthusiasm means he can be moved everywhere but he needs to nail one position down or he’ll be the jack of all trade in the team and that may affect his development. He lacks experience and will learn but there are deficiencies in his game that hopefully will be eradicated with more game time.
Im not slaying the guy based on one poor perfromance but i’m giving out a constructive criticism, basically things he can improve on. I’m not doubting his talents but central midfield won’t be where he fulfills that burgeoning potential. Some may disagree but that’s my view and i’ll leave fergie to decide his best position.
FITB as always respect your views. I as well see what you say and agree to a point, Berba, Hargo and Andro? Rio, Rooney, Nani have worked out?! Last year Lil Pea all the rage. Real would have offered 30 mill.
I do share concerns though. I was a big voice with MG about Barca proticall and voiced my hopes for a Sanchez type a 30 million pound type that would fit in and make Man Utd better.
The Billionaire pimp clubs, Shity, Rent Boyz, PSG, (PSG say they will spend 100 million euros a year for the next 5 years!!!) Real a state owned club, an Barca can afford to off load Ibra for a 50 million euro loss. Then get SAF target’s David V and Sanchez. Would you folks want Quatar ownership VS Glazzers?
BUT! nani and rooney are prime examples of when things do not go their way, they never grab the game by the scruff of the neck and drive the side forward.
Rooney grabbed the Chelsea and Ajax games by the scruff of the neck and lead his team on. And even yesterday an off game for him, when Carrick came on Rooney kicked up the tempo and played hard and turned the game around to a point.
I understand people are desperate for another roy keane but we all have to move on from that box to box midfield era. Even the legendary irish man would be exposed if he flew forward without some cover these days. The 4-4-2 system needs to be scrapped if you want midfielders bombing forward and leaving gaps behind.
Zibbie@17.48
Hehe! Well said.
James
Er…nothing really, hello?
Hardly defies logic. What, players playing in different positions is alien to you? Nothings set in stone yet, where Jones will end up playing. Scholes started as a forward, but became a top CM. Playing him in a two man midfield didn’t help his, or our cause last night.
One thing that doesn’t help Jones, is all these comparisons he’s getting. The lad doesn’t need that type of pressure. Fergie shielded Giggs, when the media was comparing him to Bestie. He’ll do the same with Jones.
Has anyone found out where the Glazzers came up with that 200+ million payment almost 2 years back now. The Glazzer liquidity of there money was hit hard in the recession they have many real estate malls that lost 100′s of millions. And no public offer in the far east as of yet?
Looking forward to when Sir Alex calls it a day surely Athletic Bilbao boss would come in for consideration , any who can get a team of players to work that hard for 90 minutes must have something . They are all young lads highly skilled confident and fit. I think all United fans would love United to play at a high tempo like Athletic Bilbao last night.
Zibbie
Spot on about the 500 posts of doom and gloom.
I’ll put my money on a united 3-1 win. De Gea was great last night and I think people are realising how important Carrick is.
We got it handed it to us last night and quite frankly I’m glad. I read all about this I hope SAF gave them the dryer, it’s the coaches fault, players are not good enough etc etc I tell you what is shit the majority of our fan base. It’s fucking pathetic and full of spoilt Bastards. United in the 80′s were mental and as we have become successful the atmosphere died and expectations risen. How about we go back to supporting our team and get the ground bouncing. We are 2 points away from winning a championship and having 20……..fuck me support the fucking team. Do we need to add? Yes. Do we need to perform better in Europe, well one win from three finals in four years suggests no. It was only five days ago we had a great win in north London.
Was the 1999 Man Utd club the last one to win the CL with a 4-4-2????????
Samuel
It wasn’t aimed at you. I never read your post so calm down. Its aimed at the 500+ post thread. Some posters are flogging him. Friends?
Zibbie – rooney and nani are always in and out of games, they have their moments but its not good enough. And the past 3 years have been a prime example of standards dropping like a stone.
Giggs
Tear into em mate. What a great post and my sentiments exactly. 11/10.
I have to say I am behind SAF and the youth. When both Vida and Rio got hurt early and when Vida came back he does his knee in. Fletch illness wow. JUST 2 POINT’S BACK AND AHEAD OF LAST YEAR!!!!!!!!!
FITB I think they need help as well. So does SAF he tried to add David V., Nasri, Sanchez, and more top players they chose to go elsewhere. He always says why add players not good enough for Man Utd. I see what you are saying and he is trying. Spain has changed the tax advantage for the players this might help in recruiting players. Manchester is no London or warm weather site. People here don’t want to hear this but in the modern game Manchester without overpaying players is a tough place to sell. Not Man Utd as the worlds greatest sporting club just the NW part of England.
Zibbie – united should have moved away from 442, and changing the squad to a 433, and getting players to fit that system. we had the players in 2007/08 for the 433, but fergie decided to go back to the inflexible 442 and sign players who play the 442 and we look very beatable. We were setting new standards in 2007 with up to date formations and tactical brilliance that made europe united’s bread and butter
442 should be a secondary formation, but we have to many 442 players, when we do not have the engine room for a 442 with wasted summers since 2009..I do think the mentality of the squad is left allot to be desired. Fergie got the very best out a very thin 2006/07 squad that hit new heights in the premiership and europe like never before, and having that ability to get win after win after win, now there does not seem to be that edge,to have the desire to win week in week out
Our problem is we keep playing Phil Jones out of position. When he was at blackburn he flourish the most in defense. And i assume that is the number one reason we bought him. To be the future of our defense not our midfield.
Secondly I am becoming slightly annoyed with Rio ferdinand talking too much in the past few weeks. Last week rio came out and said that United were ready to destroy teams we meet in all competitions from now till the end of the season. Thursday we lose to bilbao. Talking puts added pressure on the young boys as if they don’t have enough to deal with already. How about we just keep quiet, put our heads down and just play football and not say ANYTHING.
Is it safe to come out?
FITB – Not being funny mate, you flip flop every couple of months! Back in the summer, you were offering apologies to people on here, for castigating the Glazers. Now, you’re back to the same old excuse of blaming the Glazers! A few bumps on the road and people lose their minds on this blog. We have no God given right to beat any team. We’re all looking for someone to blame. Just maybe, it’s a combo of reasons and not just solely one reason? Fergie getting his selections wrong. Players not being consistent enough. The debt restricting our transfer plans etc etc….United will always bounce back, because it’s in our nature. I agree with RedNev’s comments in last nights programme. Players will learn alot from this seasons disappointments. As for Fergie himself? We can’t lose faith in him now. He will always try to do his best for United. I share some of your concerns, but it isn’t dooms day yet!
Balaji Yes!!!!
Dr Stangelove and the Dooms Day Machine.
I was on here yesterday but found some people I really, really consider great posters questioning Sir Alex and saying maybe it was time for him to move on. Then I saw the wily old fox StatesideAussie providing a great debate and saying “If Fergie can’t, who the fuck can?”. I decided to stay off at this point and I am sure Cedars is probably doing the same. There are some of who cannot stand idiotic nonsense like those saying Sir Alex is past it. As Zibbie said, questioning his overall tactics in Europe this season, I am all for it. But posts like that just get my blood boiling and I decided to lay off for a while (meaning a day or two at most). Glad to see Zibbie, Giggs12 and James keeping the red flag flying high while Sam is his cynical old self.
WillieRedNut – how? the only thing the glazers have done good is not interfere in fergie’s plans and possibly the debt going down but look at the price we are paying for paying off debts that is still 500 million plus, out of the CL, never have I given apologies. But what have the club done since 2009 in the transfer market? of course we do not, but standards to such a low point. At the end of the day money has not been invested in the right area’s, it will be 5 summers since the engine room was last invested.
FITB – I remember you giving apologies? I’ll check some of old threads. 100% certain you did.
Balaji
Cos Man Utd will NEVER die.
Cedars has been on using his phone but can’t post, his laptop is at his nieghbours and I can assure you my friend that he’s like Mount Etna ready to errupt.
We have been spoilt over the years and some are starting to dwell in the past just like the Scousers do.
Jones won’t be a CM imo. Don’t think he has the composure for it. I like seeing him as a CM from time to time and when he plays with Carrick, but that’s just about it. He’ll become a CB, but he still needs more experience in that position. No one was perfect at it at 19.
I still don’t understand how he ended up at CM last night. Scholes rested. That I get. Where was Tom? Why did we have 2 CMs on the bench? The last 4 European games we played with a sensible pair at CM just once and we won that game. And not surprisingly, we lost the other 3.
Anyway, like I said earlier today, this European campaign has been a farce and it’s time questions were asked. I am not one of those questioning Fergie or his ability, but this isn’t 2006 is it? 1) Back then we had a couple of players that showed promise of becoming world class. And most of all, they were healthy as horses. 2) We also spent money on whatever position needed fixing. 3) Fergie didn’t look like being on his last few years as manager.
In 2012, factors 1 and 2 are extremely doubtful. As for factor 3, well, Fergie is 1-2 years away from retirement the way I look at it.
WillieRedNut – if I did oh well, but I am sure I never said that. All I remember saying, well the glazers ownership while its still bad is not has bad as say chelsea has they let fergie get on with it, and if the debt goes we could spend more money. That is has far as it went, I bashed MUST has talking out of their asses in the end etc
FITB – Well, I wouldn’t make it up mate.
Is it me or are some folk getting over excited about the 1/2 time score in the Europa. Where has all this shit come from we were all buzzing after Spurs now its doom and gloom over a tin pot cup that SAF obviously doesn’t want. 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 is far more important.
FITB I think the dept is down to around 360 mill and dropping every year.
WillieRedNut – I have never fully backed the glazers, I have said they have let fergie spend some money in summers 2007 08 and at times 2011, and they have let fergie get on with the job You must have got things mixed up with words I said that I fully backed the ownership, what I also said was, unless there is an ownership that is better than what we have got, in terms of sacking managers etc. That is what I said, but I still think we do need a change of ownership for the club to really move forward because the gems out there are becoming less and less
With the circumstances of this year SAF said and always have said the PL is the main goal. His team selection told as much.
Zibbie – the worry is, the team he picked last night was not that far from his best team.
There’s asking questions, then there’s over reacting. Depends how you see it.
@Costas
Jones might not have the composure now. That will come with time. I think he’s looked better in midfield, than at CH. Look at the Newcastle game? Real stinker. Agree he’s looked good when partnered with Carrick. The fear is with him, we could have John O’Shea mark 2, if he doesn’t lock down a position.
FITB, that is why we have an Academy and SAF will buy 3-6 players this summer. The youth this year will learn and be better and more psychically mature. I have hopes for Tom C. becoming a world class player.
I have marketed Insurance and have dealt with medical under writing, Flech at his stage of his Illness stress is a trigger to worse symptoms, there is a lot of stress in his job. I hope and pray for the lad, even if he does come back he will be a shell of his heights 2 years back where in big games he was the 4th or 5th name on the sheet.
FITB – I didn’t misread what you said mate. We can’t blame the Glazers every time United don’t win a game. You can blame them for the debt. Fact of the matter is, Fergie was given 50 million last summer to spend. He didn’t buy a midfielder. That’s on the manager. Not the Glazers. Wanting new owners is all well and good, but atm, we’re stuck with them. For anyone to buy United, they’ll have to come up with a serious wad of cash. Then you have to wonder who’ll take over the club? Look at the rentboys? I don’t want that situation at United.
WBA is far more important than Athletic Club.
SAF has a serious balancing act to pull off.
These days, you cannot go into Premiership games 3 days after a European game with the same players.
A very risky strategy, especially at this stage of the season.
None of us know what he knows, e.g., which players although ”fit” are not really sparkling in training etc.
Hence, team selections that may seem strange to some, are not really if you know the bigger picture.
The boss probably picks his teams looking 2-3 games ahead, never mind just the next one.
Also, although the injury list has improved, you cannot throw several players lacking in match practice into the same team at once.
Yet more balancing required.
Moronic talk of SAF having lost it etc, is just that. Moronic talk.
Jitters and nerves from the fans, even in pubs, work and forums, inevitably ends up on the terraces and subsequently unsettles the players.
Accordingly, confidence is also infectious.
GET BEHIND THE TEAM!
BELIEVE!
Zibbie – youth needs the foundations of a very experienced side that can ease the next generation, and it does not help when youth players think they should be on 30k a week, that is why I say the last 3 summers have been a waste its not helping the youth who want to be here sometimes getting rushed. I always flip flop because I think yes there is progress, like the start of this season, and then we are stuck on the same shit we were going nuts about since the 2009/10 season. It has been such a shame seeing us look so feeble at times, us fans are going psycho over individuals and even the manager for GOD SAKES
Wolfie I howl your sentiments and 5 to 7 years the Glazzers dept will be gone and there marketing will have 150 million coming in world wide. OR a Billionaire dick measure method of I got more toys then you?
WillieRedNut – I agree and he must take some of the blame for the decision to go away from the fluent system that worked so well in Europe, of a 4123 433 maybe the 4231 formation he created that won us the european cup, to the basic 442 by signing the more basic players that play the 442.But like I said yes we do not want owners like chelsea, but we got to have a ownership that can afford to run the club and can go to that extra mile to afford maybe players that will set a club record, the glazer ownership ts still better than the PLC by a mile I will defend them on that front, but we have not done enough when united were on top to really get some of those top players, and I do not want fergie turning into wenger with fergie’s own quote value for money
James, Yeah mate, I can imagine what Cedars is feeling right now.
Before I hit the sack, I would like to take us back about 6 months to the beginning of the season.
Remember the Community Shield where we ripped City apart to shreds with a youthful side. Remember the first 2 months were everyone was saying that United had returned to be the Manchester United of old and how the attacking play was great to watch. If you don’t, please do remember all that.
Because “that” was probably Sir Alex’s strategy for this season. To play a high tempo game similar to the Spanish sides that relied a lot on pressing the opposition and forcing them to make mistakes while utilizing quick interchanging passing and allowing our attacking players to run riot. That strategy would’ve surely taken us places had it worked.
Part of the strategy was probably to get a strong youthful spine growing:
David De Gea/Anders Lindegaard at the back.
Smalling, Evans, Jones, Twins in defense led by Vidic, Rio and Evra.
Cleverley, Anderson led by Carrick, Giggs and of course Fletcher.
Nani, Young, Valencia and Park out wide providing for fluid switches to either wing.
And finally Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck and Berbatov up front to make a fearful striking team like the 99 side.
I remember saying that this was a side that could go places this season. And I stand by what I said. Had the plan worked out we would be laughing left and right and calling Sir Alex a genius instead of questioning whether he was over the hill.
BUT I know some of you will say the plan wasn’t perfect and the danger signs in defense was there for people to see. And you would be right. This was supposed to be a season of transition. And part of the strategy was the tinker around with formations using the above youthful core before landing on the perfect combination of attack and defense. I remember discussing with Stateside and he said that Sir Alex is mixing and matching to strike the perfect balance between both.
Another part of the strategy was probably to bring in more youth players once that core had settled at around Christmas time. This next wave would probably have included Morrison, Pogba, Fryers, Keane etc. along with Tunnicliffe if he had been recalled.
What went wrong? First and foremost – INJURIES. There is no two ways about it. If you look at the above squad I posted, Sir Alex’s strategy has been ripped apart to shreds thank to injuries to the players he wanted to rely on this season. He expected Vidic to lead this team and provide the primary backbone in the spine. But he was fucked over by a stupid injury. He expected Cleverley to take over the mantle from Scholes and be the maestro (and there’s no denying that Cleverley looked fucking good) but he was fucked by a sick fucker called Kevin Davies. (BTW, who wants to set up a bounty calling for Davies head?) Following Cleverley, Anderson got injured and regressed without having the same youthful exuberance next to him. Is it Anderson’s fault that he can’t play without anyone but Tom? Probably. He needs to show better attitude but there’s no denying that he did look good paired up with Tom. Soon Fletch followed and many more ended up on the treatment table. Up front, we’ve been relatively injury free excepting Young. However, when you lose your fucking spine it doesn’t matter how good your forward line is when they’re denied service. This is the story of United’s season so far.
What has this done to Sir Alex’s plans? It has completely fucked him over. He has probably had to shift Jones around far too often than he would’ve planned at the beginning of the season. He has had to rely a lot more on youngsters than he would’ve liked or expected to.
But why not introduce Pogba, Morrison and Fryers anyways. To this I would ask, was it really a good idea? United were really sub-par in December/January and needed to win games to keep up with City. For youngsters like that, the pressure would’ve been immense and probably a big ask on them. Would they have delivered? Maybe/maybe not. But it is a call Sir Alex had to make and he decided that this wasn’t the best time to introduce them into the team. Just imagine what would happen if Sir Alex had indeed called on them and we had given up ground to City. People would’ve questioned his intentions then and said he was wrong to bring them on without proper leadership to rely on. THIS is what has happened at Arsenal and Sir Alex did not want that to happen to our youngsters. If we are going to bring them on, we have to do it the right way.
Scholes wanted in and what more could Sir Alex ask for. He was a better option than youngsters especially in the race for the PL (I am pretty sure he had prioritized this over the rest of the tournaments. It is pretty obvious from where I stand.) His technical brilliance and know-how has proved invaluable to us over the past two months and he has been a big reason of why we have the best chance of winning this league.
I am pretty sure Sir Alex’s plan was not to rely on Ryan Giggs or Paul Scholes in their twilight years. That we can still rely on them to take us to the 20th (which is all I care about) speaks volumes about what they’re capable of. But IF Sir Alex had had a choice, he wouldn’t have chosen to rely on those two as much as he’s done in the new year.
Now the major point: Will a big fucking buy have helped us this season? Most probably yes. Quality players like that will always add value to the team and a Sanchez, Sneijder, or whomever would’ve been no different. However, what if he had also gotten injured. We would probably be in the same position we are right now. And if everyone had been fit, he would’ve gotten in the way of Clevs, Ando, and others.
But why not buy in January? Why should he? Any Tom, Dick, and Harry is overpriced beyond belief in this period. There’s no point buying a stop-gap replacement without longer plans in mind. He made a decision to bring back Scholes for this very specific reason. He works as a stop-gap till summer and the moves back from the limelight.
You cannot have the cake and eat it also gentleman. Decisions have to be made and unfortunately Sir Alex’s decisions have backfired in the more unforeseen of ways by his squad being fucked over by injuries.
So what happens now? Is a major overhaul needed? HELL FUCKING NO! That entire squad I posted up top is still alive. Pogba (????) and Morrison may have moved on. Maybe that was part of Sir Alex’s decision making as well. When I look at the mid-field, I know it needs reinforcements. Sir Alex’s strategy has been destroyed. Some of our youth have moved on while others are proving to be too injury prone at the moment. Sir Alex will look at it in the “SUMMER”.
WHY? Because he is not a miracle worker. Even if he knows something is wrong with his squad and I am sure he does, he cannot fix it right now. “RIGHT FUCKING NOW” this is all the cards we have. THIS is the hand we’ve been dealt with. And some people think it is not good enough “RIGHT NOW”. Fine, I probably agree with them. But they don’t look at the long term.
I look at this squad and I see hope. I see a team that could’ve been if not for injuries. I see a team that will be world-beaters with a few additions (from inside or out) in the summer. I see Sir Alex’s last great team coming to fruition in the next couple of years and the great man riding into the sunset after having kicked dirt in the faces of all those fuckers who thought he was too short-sighted to work without a plan. I am ready to change my name to whatever if that doesn’t happen by 2015.
Its in my blood or Alcohol
just kidding mate we’re on the same wavelength. King Eric is only 5 ft 4 so we can rest our drinks on him.
I’m fishing for the King.
You gonna meet up on Sunday. I promise I’ll like you.
OH MY FUCKING GOD!
What a huge wall of text. I am so sorry lads and I know none of you will probably read it through.
BUT I needed to fucking rant because the past few weeks reading the flip-flopping thoughts of every Manchester United supporter has made me sick. Then people saying Sir Alex was over the hill was probably the straw that broke the camel’s back.
I needed to vent and that wall of text is the result.

Shanks Jeff wow
Wow Balaji thash beautiful you now? Wow
It could be worse……we could be scouse.
Balaji Sivaraman – that is why I flip flopped, I thought yes there is progress this season, we are winning well and players are stepping up to the mark, what happened? we went backwards and once again united’s weakness’s were shown again. No one said overhaul, it needs more meat on the squad and that is the problem, we do not have enough meat on the bones.
If united was a Frankenstein what is it missing? a heart, cover up the bones on one arm leg and maybe a kidney is needed. United are much like the death star from return of the jedi, it works but its very much incomplete.

Balaji Sivaraman YOU ROCK!!!!!!

Ignore most of them. They’re spoilt ,with all our success over the years Utd have created Monsters, ungreatful little monsters. SAF is and always will be a Fucking God in the eyes of James21.

yea I just realised, that is what united currently are, the death star from return of the jedi, We all can see the holes of the ship, and how incomplete it is but it still works
get real people! Every1 has been going on about us not being able to settle on a solid back 4 that can play week in and out. People have been unhappy at the amount of times the team has been changed and its true. We almost have a different back 4 every week! Its not good for the team and the lads can’t get into a rythem! And I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. We have too many defenders! And imagine if Vidic wasn’t injured! There would be even more chopping and changing weekly! The 2 lads smalling and jones r eng internationals(only caus of United imo) and want to start every game! Its all very well having a lot of defenders and players in the squad and I think competition for places is very healthy for the club BUT how do u keep all these players happy and content with the amount of gametime they r getting. Jones has come in and I genuinely believe he has disturbed our setup. I believe that it was greedy of us to go and buy him from balckburn when we already had 2 players in Smalling and Evans who were in line to challenge Rio and Nemanja. + we have the 2 Da Silvas who have been at the club for a while now and have waited a long time to stake their claim. It hasn’t benefitted us 1 bit in my opinion! Yes he had a good first few games when he first arrived but he has been so bloody poor for the past few months. He’s just an average player in my eyes. I couldn’t believe it when I heard we had signed him and the first thing I thought to myself was – how will this lad get in the team when we already have rio, nemanja etc and I believe that when vidic comes back next season its gonna be even more of a mess. Its showed in europe especially. Everytime it came to the Cl, SAF had no other choice than to change the back 4 because players were not getting gametime etc. Way too much chopping and changing! I honestly don’t think this would have happened without jones last season and it never! We had a solid back 4 and 3 of the positions were standard. It was rio and nemanja and paddy and then either smalling or the twins at rb. When rio or nemanja were injured evans stepped in and did a decent job together with smalling! And things were ok! Simples. There were hardly any problems and the lads got on with it week by week. I don’t think we got to another CL final by changing our team everytime in came to Europe and we def never won a record 19th title by doing the same thing. U can shoot me down all u like but I don’t give a fuck! I def feel I have a really valid point here! There was absolutey no reason whatsoever for Fergie to go out and buy another defender! I couldn’t actually believe it when I heard he had signed for us! I was completely shocked! How do u keep 8 defenders happy??? Its impossible! The changing of the team to keep players happy has had a negative impact and our results this season speak for themselves. Barcelona play the same back 4 almost every week and look where they are. Same can be said of madrid. Pepe, ramos and marcelo play all thetime and look at where they r in the league! Its simple!
Bloody Star wars analogies
Shall we just say The Phantom Menace in 3D?
High Tree!
This maxsh he’sh sho angry you now? Wow ish beautiful
Hey Max
Also, my post only addressed the long term ramifications of Sir Alex’s strategy.
To those saying our plan in Europe needs a re-think or Sir Alex has made lots of mistakes in team selection, strategy and substitutions especially in Europe this season. I would agree with you all. However, a lot of those mistakes may also have been forced because of reasons mentioned somewhere in that wall of text.
FITB, But why has it gone backwards? Is it because the same team hasn’t performed over the course of a season? No. It is because half our squad has been fucked for a large part of the season. Sir Alex is the greatest ever but not even he can work miracles when players he considers critical are getting injured left and right.
Right, off to bed.
Evening Zibbie

MG LOL!!!!!!!!!!
Shush Maxine.
I hate fans being so fickle – they have become really spoiled as a result of uniteds repeated success over recent years. but they have to remember that the common denominator for all that success was SAF! The team that played last night, however young/inexperienced some are, were good enough to beat Bilbao, and should have.
Night Balaji have a goodnights sleep and wake up in the morning ready to kick ass
And have a dhosa on me – if you like that stuff because I love it

You been doing the old Hand Solo again.
Latest news Utd sign Obi wan on a free transfer. Unfortunately its the Old Alec Guiness version and not the Young Ewan McGregor version. He should have retired years ago like a certain Ryan Giggs but SAF has faith in him.
Crisis what crisis. I’m full of faith and I believe we can beat Bilbao to progress, besides I’ve never been to Romania. My Faith also tells me Shitty are shitting bricks about a little club from Newton Heath who are gonna get em. Walcott Autobiography extract:
When I came we had the best players in the world but now it’s difficult. I don’t sleep at night I wake up screaming and my girlfriend comforts me and it’s so good to be cushioned on a woman’s breasts. Everyone always says that John Lewis have the best Hungarian goose pillows but you know I think they are wrong, I wish everyone could just buy the most beautiful natural breasts and just sleep on them. I stay awake whilst I watch her sleep when I think about what I can do to pick my boys up. It’s important that everyone feels me when I want to be felt because when I come I come and when I get there then I’m there. Everyone knows the way I release myself and everyone knows that I get a relief like no other. When I run and lead then I am in charge, on top of everybody without fear, pushing myself inside the opposition territory trying to get in, to take charge of the game and when I see the opening then I’m in and quickly out ready to do it again.

See I’m a Cub fan all teams Chicago, Bears, Bulls Black-Hawks. I’m use to loosing and long periods of no hope for the highest honors. I became a Man Utd fan the year of the Invincible’s then the Roman invasion for 2 years. People were writing off SAF and Man Utd. They lost in group stages, sold Keano, Becks and Ruud. If you go to the Rep. of Manc. tab at the top of the page is why STR started this BLOG!! Thanks STR. Disbelievers and during and after a loss every fucking where. The same reason he started the BLOG is to shut those kind up. Then what comes out, doubt in the best of us and WURMS and TROLLS EVERY FUCKING PLACE!!!! Ironic? hehe

Take charge of Manchester United in Football Manager 2012
Football Manager must love me boy do I promote that game.
Any chance for some loyalties coming this way?
Balaji Sivaraman – I do think we had these problems last year and year before, so there was a high chance it could happen again. There is a high possibility it was happening again, sometimes they got to really wake up and realise they have got to do better
For One and All,
Republik of Mancunia
Where did we come from?
The Republik of Mancunia – Manchester United blog was created back in 2006, as United closed in on 2nd place in the league. The forum was created shortly after, with hundreds of members signing up within the first couple of months.
The blog was intended to reflect the more optimistic United fan, who didn’t feel as though we were dead and buried…despite going another year without winning the league, selling our most prolific goalscorer ever, and our two brightest prospects having a big bust up during the World Cup.
What started off as a few posts every few weeks developed in to a much more regular red news site, combining opinionated articles, discussions with rival fans, videos, jokes and the latest stories from Old Trafford.
The Republik of Mancunia is written by Scott, a season-ticket holding Mancunian, who loves his team, and isn’t ashamed about the red tinted specs he wears when writing about them. There is intended to be as much realism and statistical evidence in the writing as possible, whilst leaving some room for the passion and excitement supporting the club brings about.
So stick around, browse through past articles, our best articles, and feel free to leave your comments on any of them. But be warned, this place can become an obsession.
What’s in a name?
“Republik of Mancunia” is a term used by Manchester United fans as a way of expressing Mancunian pride. It also is used by some to show their apathy towards the England National Football Team.
The “Republik of Mancunia” attitude developed for several reasons. Firstly, the idea of Mancunian pride, which can be seen in other areas of culture associated with Manchester, not just football. Also, because Manchester United fans feel as though the players and fans of their club are treated unfairly by the English press and English football fans, now, and in the past. To call themselves Mancunian, and claim they are from the “Republik of Mancunia”, and not English, is showing this displeasure with what they regard unfair treatment.
It is well documented that ‘Stand up if you hate Man U’ used to do the rounds at Wembley, when the likes of David Beckham, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt were all on the field.
A “Republik of Mancunia” banner, written in faux Cyrillic, can be seen at Old Trafford, at the Stretford End, the most vocal area in the stadium. This is used because one of Manchester United fans’ nicknames is The “Red Army” and their “firm” is also known by this name, as well as it being the name of the army of the Soviet Union.
Also, “Republik of Mancunia” can refer to a “nation” of Manchester United-focused people. A Republik is also associated with ideas on anti-monarchy. Therefore, the Republik of Mancunia is a separation between these people, and England.
Several chants have arisen from this movement. A popular chant is “We all agree United are better than England.” Another chant is in reference to the treatment David Beckham received after returning from the 1998 World Cup. Effigies of our player were burnt in the capital whilst United fans offered him unwavering support. When Beckham later scored a last minute winner against Greece to give England entry to the next World Cup, the chant “Did you cheer when Beckham scored?” was born and sung to opposition fans during league matches.
Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes is an apparent follower of this thinking. Despite being one of the most naturally gifted midfielders to ever play for England, he retired from the national side aged 30, since which he has been asked repeatedly to rethink his decision. “I decided to call it a day with England because it just wasn’t any fun any more. I don’t know why it became like that, I’d just stopped enjoying it,” explained Scholes. “I like being at home as well there was an awful lot of time away from home and my family and for me there’s nowhere better than Manchester.”
United captain, Gary Neville, has echoed the same sentiments when talking about returning from injury. “Getting back into the England squad is not something that I think about,” he said in November 2007. “Playing for United has always been the most important thing for me and remains so. If England recognition comes, that’s a bonus – but it’s not something that I think about too much. I’ve always considered it an extension to playing for United.”
The Republik of Mancunia – a Manchester United blog – is firmly of the belief UNITED > England.

I agree with you – especially now that Ravel and Pogba have fucked off which has put paid to those plans of waiting for 2 midfielders to emerge through
Will be interesting though I do think we are buying – time will just have to tell…

Saruman
Count Dooku
Great even Scott is towing the Star Wars mantra “Republik”
Sorry I want this site changed to Middle United Earth
Where do I petition?
Dracula > Count Dooku > Sauruman
MG – exactly, youth is no different to signing a big name signing has we have seen with revel and pogba, all I have wanted from united is more freshness in the engine room,. summer 2011 was the perfect summer to go and sign big in that area. WS for me was 2 to 4 years to late because of the price he would cost and his age made it pointless. My worry is the more we sign less, the more we have to buy because of the amount of positions the club has to fill
MG hahahaha
Damn James trumped me
@FITB
Again, too complimentary for Rene.
I’d say both of them are the equivalent of those admirals that Vader was killing for fun at Empire.
@MG
Oh definitely. Saruman all the way.
Is there a Lord of the Ring pequill? Bobo’s Dad meats the Elves?
Count Dooku was a fraud! Seduced by the darkside he was.
MG – if thats the case
fergie is the dark lord sauron
mike phelan is saruman
rene is wormtongue
Costas – so who would you place as the fett
FITB
I do agree with you on that – it was obvious Hargreaves was finished long time ago – United should have done something – there you cannot be denied – even though I agree with Balaji that circumstances may have alluded to SAF playing certain players teams in Europe if we had another midfield dimension it still would have worked out despite injuries etc – up to a point whatever that would have been
Agree about Sneijder.
Alien pussy? If men shag sheep like Kirk, men will fuck alien pussy. Alien STD’S? wow…….
I wonder who gets to be Arwen?

Eric Steele. Just like Fett, he scouts his opponents well.

Zibbie – again sanchez was a good signing to snap up in the summer of 2009 when not many were mad on him.
Costas – yea very true of course LOL, rooney could have been aniken but he has been a bit of a twisted version of luke skywalker, where he almost went over to the dark side.
I look like Jabba the Hut and aspire to be Yoda.
To quite your mind, empty of thought. in that moment of nothingness, everything is possible.

Well, thankfully for Rooney, he wasn’t tempted by the Dark Side. He was just tempted by a bunch of deluded twats from the Wastelands.

He’s looking for the Precious. Smartalex. I think he might have found him.

UNITED!!!
My instinct are telling me we will go top or joint top by monday. ” Come-on United ! we’ve been knocking at the door for too long, now is the time to bring itdown”
Well Swansea is tough at home, I saw Kompany out 2 weeks.
And a WBA win Man Utd could be top on Sunday night.
Rooney for a better passing game, he is at 24 goals this year with 11 PL games left.
@zibbie : WBA wont be easy pickings as scott seems to suggest. they’re on form and unbeaten in three. and we havent exactly given a good record of ourselves in the past couple of weeks.
i say nervy 2-1 win with rooney and young netting.

WBA are playing well, Rio and Evans with Carrick in front of them. I see a 1-0 or a 2-1 win for the Red guys. Rooney plays better.
hope we see anderson cleverly play tomorrow. !!!

hope we see anderson cleverly play tomorrow. !!!
I just hope we see the real Manchester United…….. playing with fire and fervour just like we all know they can …. not the shadow of the team that played during the week….it is so frustrating to see them drop off like we sometimes do

If Wazza is Shrek who is Donkey?
I’m hung like a Donkey….does that count…..
the old ones are the best…….. haw haw
@tonybee watson : yeah we always play with fervor in the league. its just that the players aren’t too arsed about the europa league.!!!
also regarding all those posts saying its a disgrace to lose to bilbao think this way :
they’re 5th in the spanish league. what did you expect? them to come here and be pushovers?
they’re a very good side.
now say united lose to the 5th placed side in the EPL it won’t be such a calamity now would it?
and btw the current 5th placed team in the EPL is chelsea!
perspective matters people . fergie knows what he’s doing, so let him!!

No shame in losing to Athleic, but it was a poor performance. Anyone whose watched international football over the last four years knows Spanish football is the best in the world at the moment and Athletic have 4 players currently in the Spanish squad and a manager who taught Guardiola a thing or two.
Funny thing is, if the Chelsea players had a better attitutde (and were younger and more gifted, to be fair to them) they’d be playing good football under Villas-Boas by now. A few of those Athletic players put Lampard et al to shame.
It’s in my blood – They’re either hungover, or under the thumb! Ha ha
Can’t wait to se Sneijder Hazard Gotze play tomorrow
Afternoon United
Saturday’s are crap without the boys playing. Just booked tickets for Soccer Aid in May, will finally get the chance to take my 2 offspring to the theatre of dreams.
Top interview with Nani on football focus, saying he doesnt get the credit he deserves. Completely agree case in point losing player of the season to Gareth bale when nani had more goals and more assists.
“For fuck sake!” 2billion down the drain? Shitty is headed there too! And should be a lesson to pple wh says here FERGIE buy this buy that. How Chelshit fans feel when they see all those crap that cost soo much?
