The Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga has drawn to a close, for the summer at least, following the player’s admission that he wants to stay at United next season.

Of course though, Ronaldo still has aspirations of making a move to Real Madrid at some point in his career, and no doubt, the Spanish club will be more than happy to fork out an insane amount of money for him next summer, or the summer following.

However, if Fergie is still about, there is great potential for United to tell Real Madrid to do one. In an interview, our manager concedes we did receive a bid for Ronaldo, which obviously was rejected, but that he won’t forget the way Real have conducted themselves this summer.

“Real Madrid did make a bid for Cristiano – I think it was by fax – but the decision on what we would do was taken at the end of last season when they first started with their nonsense,” said Ferguson. “We had dialogue with our owners but when Cristiano stated at the end of last season that he would decide his future in the next few days, the club decided he would not be sold. There has never been any change. We haven’t had any other dialogue with Real Madrid. Will there be a chance for things to heal? No chance.”

Ferguson is a great one for forgiving and forgetting, if his feud with the BBC is anything to go by, so chances of Fergie getting over this situation with Real Madrid any time soon are pretty slim.

Do you think Fergie will be able to fight off Real Madrid, following the disgraceful behaviour of Ramon Calderon, and instead, sell Ronaldo to another club?
