Nani hasn’t really made the most of his opportunities this season, with fans seeing glimpses of what he is capable of but those moments are becoming few and far between. Let’s not forget that he hasn’t been given anywhere near the same number of chances he was given in his first season, however he hasn’t been able to hold down a place in the team because he hasn’t shone when he has been given time on the pitch.
Last season he scored a penalty in the European Cup final, as well as banging in goals against Arsenal and Liverpool.
Clearly the lad has bags of potential but when will we get to see this showcased on a regular basis?

I’m a big fan of his, and I agree that he’ll only iron out inconsistency with a run of games, but a lot of the time he just needs to keep it simple.
He needs to learn that beating your man once is usually enough. Blasting the ball into Row Z at 0-0 when we’re trying to create a rhythm/turn the screw isn’t helpful. Releasing the ball earlier is often more helpful than running down a blind alley.
It’s the little things, Scott. IMHO, he’s the best crosser at the club and he’s got pace and a powerful shot on him, he’s just needs to learn where and when to use all three.
think the lad should get more starts in the league he has only played in 10 league games including subs

Has the potential he reminds of ryan babel a bit had a decent season in the first season but BOTH of them arent really kicking on like everyone hoped, But in order for him to progress he needs games but from what he showed us this season he doest really merit a place

We’ll never see the best of the lad until he’s given a role on the “RIGHT HAND SIDE” of midfield and is given more than 45 mins a month. He’s been made the scapegoat for many a poor performance by the team this season, how he doesn’t get a game at the moment is beyond my comprehension. Park runs alot but has no end product but is played as he can “defend”. For me a United wingers duty first and formost is to attack on the outside and deliver crosses to his strike-force ala Kanchelskis, Sharpe, Giggs- in his Heyday. Nani i believe could do these things as he has the ability, no doubting that, he just needs a little time on the pitch and an arm round his shoulder- telling him to enjoy himself and not worry about getting dumped if he miss-places a pass.
Also why dont we play Fabio in ‘O Shakey’s place? he’d do a hell of alot better than him. I dont buy the argument that “he plays on the left” he’s right footed for Gods sake. Or even as a winger for Park and he in-turn defend as thats all he can bloody do?.

Everyone compared him to Ronaldo when he first came in that he’s got all the ability in the world but he needs consistency, maturity, and a better footballing brain to improve his decision making. The main difference between the two is that when Ronaldo came we we’re in transition, thus allowing him time to grow into the player he is now. We’re not in transition now, so Nani cant really be afforded the time to improve. Also, i think he’s predominantly a right winger brought in to play left wing.
My feeling is that next year will be his year. Giggs is playing less and less games on the wing, Park convinces no one, so i feel next year will be the one where either Nani or Tosic really makes the left side there own.
Either way, great player who blatantly needs game time to help him improve. Lets hope he get it because he could just be a complete gem.

I honestly think he would be a back up to ronaldo when we got him.We cant play both at the same time. And i think Nani will play when ronaldo moves on. There is no way a player can be playig once every 4 games and be o the top of his game, i think you should lay off. Nani is not good at defending Ronaldo dont defend, how can we possibly play them both? I think he would be good in the attacking midfield role, sort of like Hleb done for arsenal.
I personally don’t think he will ever make it at United. A poor mans Ronnie. Not in the same league as Kanchelskis and Sharpey. My patience have wore very thin. Sorry its just the way I feel, don’t like the man.
i like nani but its hard to see him ever holding down a startin XI place at united. Most i can see is good back up for a quality winger brought in (like Ribéry)

At this present moment…present moment of our midfield looking as toothless as 90 yera old pensioner. Maybe its time to play him. Anythings better than the hardworking good effort lads we have.
He may frustrate us…he may drive us fuckin crazy…BUT he can make something happen.
SAF has to make his mind up….get rid off him…or give the lads some gametime. Who knows…wth 10 /12 games under his belt…..he could turn out to be the player we all want him to be. Bit harsh to judge him when he plays 1 in 10.
Every player needs time….needs familiarity…needs beleif and game time…hennce get confidence. A player will never get better or never feel at home…or never show his worth or improve…..if given the odd monthly 10 min run out.
Give him some games…a run in the team….if after that he doesnt show his worth…then bye bye.
Nani is a diamond in the rough. He needs more playing time. It is also very true that he gets blamed too much for some of our poor performances. This constant rotation is hurting our team( Nani, Tevez, Scholes, Anderson, Giggs, Carrick, Park). One of the reasons Fletcher is one of our more solid performers this term is because he is playing on a consistent basis.

Give the lad a run in the side if he keeps underperforming then fair enough get shot. Park has had lots of game time and has contributed 1 goal and 1 assist, now thats pants!! How many chances did Fletcheradonna get until he started to show any sign of form?….156 or so.
I believe that if Ronnie goes this summer we’ll no doubt get a Ribery or a Alexis Sanchez to replace him along with a top class midfielder who can actually run a game. Tosic needs to start eating raw steak to get near the first team as he’s a bit slight to say the least…..great technique though. Also his fellow countryman Ljajic will be on his way next year and he looks as though he can play a bit- how a winger at United should well do.

Ljajic is an attacking midfielder/inside forward, not your everyday winger. Plus we could use a quality attacking mid considering our current crisis, if you can see what i mean.
Agree with you about Tosic, saw him against Tottenham in the FA cup match, and he was SMALL!
Nani is a good player who will improve if he is given a long enough run in the first team. I see that happening now, bet he will play against Sunderland

Wow TonyBee, are we not a good judge of talent? He is fantastic but lacks consistency which is an issue for all young players. He has not been given the amount of matches needed to develop but he iss a great option to have. He will get more playing time in this upcoming season and will in some of the upcoming league games. I will judge him on next season and he has to accept the challenge of trying to force Giggs out of the squad.

I read some comments by the team just now on an FoxSoccer.com. They seemed as confused about what is wrong with our defense as of late. They all said they need to get it right or some variation of that phrase. Only Vidic came up with a reason which was injuries. They also said it is not a matter of confidence and can be solved by getting better preparation. We did well with the extra prep. time against Villa and suffered last night. I am a little less worried because as I watch the Liverpool vs. Chelsea game things can change in a heart beat in football. The lads are focused on the problem and with Fergie at the helm I have no doubt it will be fixed.

I agree with most on here, lets give Nani a run out at right wing a few times and see how he does. I think Ronaldo should start on the bench this saturday to give him just a little bit of a breather. We could always bring him on in the second half if needs be.

in all honesty I believe he should be sent out on loan for half a season or even a full season. he needs regular games, confidence and time to grow. at united he just doesn’t have that luxury. personally if all this talk over Valencia is true, which in many ways I hope so, I would sweeten the deal by offering him to Wigan on a loan basis. Bruce would do his best and obviously knows how to handle young talent.
One of the most infuriating players I’ve ever seen at the club,simply because we know he has the ability to make the step up,but to me he doesn’t seem interested in making the most of his abilities. Personally I wouldn’t be sorry to see him fucked out. He’s started to just annoy me when he does get a chance
lets face it, united is paradoxical in that we love to see new players who have potential and pride ourselves in giving them a chance to play without just buying massive players constantly unlike chelsea

On the Nani situation there is 2 sides to the coin… what i have seen of him this season he has been totally Ted Robbins…. but on the other hand yes, he hasnt been played on the right, and hasnt been given enough of a run to prove himself….. do i think he will prove himself… nope.. sorry.
I personally tipped Nani to be the player that improved the most at the beginning of the season….but how is he supposed to do that if he’s not playing??? We all saw what he was capable of last year, when he got the chance. Not every player can take a game by the scruff of the neck when 1 out of 10 chances comes their way! Some players need a good run out in the 1st team to prove their worth. I have no doubt that Nani is one of those…but will he ever get the chance??? I say give Ronny a rest at the weekend and play Nani on the right…

Nani looked promising last season, but has gone backwards this season. He has lots of potential but unfortunately I don’t think he will realize it at United. Maybe he’s the player who has suffered the most from the departure of Queiroz. My prediction for the summer: Nani out, Valencia in.
