Young: We All Listen To Giggs And Scholes

Ashley Young has reiterated the point about the importance of experience, claiming that the likes of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes command respect in the dressing room.

“The younger players have taken over this season, with their music and general loudness,” he said. “But if someone like Ryan Giggs or Paul Scholes starts talking we all sit down and listen. I asked the boys about Scholesy as soon as I joined and they said he was unbelievable in training. He still pings the ball around like you wouldn’t believe.”

United went five points clear with help from Young’s goal at Blackburn on Monday and our winger claims the pressure has always been on City this season.

“The pressure has always been on City — there aren’t any nerves coming from our side,” he said. “We don’t play with fear and we haven’t got any nervousness going into games. We’ve got the momentum going into the final stretch of the season.”

    We love you too!

Excellent to hear they still get the respect they deserve, both are fucking legends.

I think we would all be creaming ourselves if either of them scored the winner again Shitty at the Emptihad.

I am in awe of Ashley Young myself. He scores fantastic and important goals! Go for it Ashley!

  7. Redbilly says:

United have the spirit and don’t fall into the trap of believing the media hype. Long may it last. Bitters are convinced the media are persecuting them. Now they are not automatically front page news for catching a cold. We are the media flavour of the month now but u never trust the cunts anyway.

  8. MUFCJord says:

Well said Ashley, another excellent piece of business bringing him in. SAF strikes again.

  9. Redbilly says:

Both goals are up there with the best of the PL season

  10. Costas says:

You better listen to them veterans. After all, they were there when Newcastle crumbled like City have this season.

Lets not lose focus though. Now is the most crucial time of the season. Don’t know why, but winning the next 3 (within a week) games sounds a bit out of reach. Especially the Wigan one. We have a perfect record against them, but they always raise their game against the big sides when their survival is on the line. If we do pick up 9 points in the next 3, then City have it all to do.

  11. CedarsDevil says:

Hi pal, my 2 personal favorite moments from that season, the win at Saint James and of course the famous Keegan outburst, classic. Sir Alex totally destroyed him

  12. mikekelly12 says:

I’drather be where we are now than where we were last month, however, I do think the press are going overboard on the whole United love in. The articles are like the ones you get in May. We are only 5 points ahead with 21 points still to play for. TWENTY ONE!! That’s a lot of points! One slip and it’s back in their hands so fully focussed please from now to Sunderland!! Cheers.

  13. Costas says:

    @Cedars

Hi mate. Here’s the funny thing. Sir Alex doesn’t do a lot for most of the season. The so called mind games came into effect on the last week of that season. Newcastle, like City this season, just overestimated their mental toughness for the final run in. They outpsyched themselves basically. City have actually been a funnier embarassment. They’ve imploded in every way possible. Not just with their results. And the best part? It started happening after Tevez returned.

Thing is with the boss is he never starts it, he is so intelligent that he will just throw a snide remark every now and then which gets under their skin…. It was Vieira who got the ball rolling this season and all you need to do is watch how Fergie replied in his press conference, smile on his face and sarcastic as can be. Do these idiots never learn?

If they just focused on themselves they might do better

  16. Doghouse says:

Ashley Young is exactly the sort of player I love at United, hard working, professional, effective and of course brilliant to watch. His shooting is a work of art, his first goal against Arsenal in The Thrashing was a thing of beauty, perfect technique, perfectly flighted, unstoppable. And he’s done it since then too. There is a quiet effectiveness about his play, which contrasts to the effervescent style of Nani, but it can be just as pleasing on the eye when it works. Reminds me of Scholes in that regard, no messing about, just good work with spots of brilliance mixed in.

I can see him doing really well for us because he’s grounded and good natured. He doesn’t get into trouble and he doesn’t run his mouth. Another great buy.

  17. CedarsDevil says:

I am getting annoyed with over references and links from the Blueshite sites….Whether you go their to post to have a dig or read to have laugh it does not matter..

We have a go at them when they come here and call them obsessed with us…. How is being at their place every day any different?

The mere thought of reading any bollocks from those twats sickens me, funny or not

  18. Costas says:

    @Cedars

Well Vieira should know better. He’s seen this before. City in general had no idea what they were in for. After the derby game in October, I started speculating whether they’d take us lightly from now on. It didn’t happen then, but they eventually made that mistake after the cup game in January. Talking about moral wins and probably thinking that unlike us at OT, they didn’t get demolished when they were down to 10 men. That was when they finally overestimated themselves. And then agent Carlos took care of the rest.

  19. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    Cedars –

I agree its quality and not quantity.
    Hey !
I am a teenager in terms of support NOT A BABY. :P

    TRUE STORY; (From last Monday)

Mr Friend asked me “Your too much of a die hard United fan its bad, Would you give your legs for the league?”
I said; ” Yes, With Modern Technology, I’ll have new legs by the end of the year !”

He was shocked because we know someone that is disabled which is tad insensitive, but I’m deadly serious 8)

Then my lady friend asked; “What if I got my friends to give you 1 night of crazy sex and you quit supporting United as payment?”
I Said; ” 1 night,? Hmm can I watch United during this sexiful night?”

Its all banter, but if it came down to it I’d choose United, being happy is the most important thing for me (Violins outs :D )

The only way I’d give up United is if something life changing happened and I had to prioritise my obsession into the odd game a month, but it happens eventually doesn’t it? If Natalie Portman asked me then we have a dilemma. ;)

    Anyways……….UNITED TILL I FRICKING DIE

  20. Mark says:

Was reading on the city thread bluemoon and they said something that really hit home to me and all utd fans too, when fergie goes were gone , were finished we will go like Liverpool when shankly and paisley left, so to all utd fans here enjoy it while it lasts , cause when ferguson goes so will utd!!

  21. Brigadier19 says:

    @MikeKelly @12.45
Absolutely spot on with that comment, there is so much more to do with those fixtures I can see dropped points, we ain’t giong to win every game. 21 points is a serious total at this stage.
Things look good so far but things can easily change. The divine right to win games doesnt come just from having the name Manchester United.
I’d like to air on the side of caution for this moment.

    @Clint
Similar conversations happen in my house with one of my mates, he says football rules my life, even down to which products I buy, which just happens to be the way it is. With sacrifice comes strength although without a leg I’m sure we’d find a way :)

  22. Brigadier19 says:

    Mark

Although times may be different for a while, we’ll never die. We will always move on through sheer grit and determination. United will go nowhere. The Family ties which embody the great Manchester United will be firmly in place for a long time to come.

  23. Mark says:

Brigadier19 I take your point mate but think we” ll fall like a stone when he retires, hope Im wrong but he’s holding the club together under the pressure from the glazers, personally I think he will leave this season if we win the league, because we will never win Europe again with this team.

  24. Legend(Giggs) says:

    Oh yeah of little faith!
Fergie is laying a foundation that will sustain UTD for the next 10 yrs atleast.
De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Hernandez, Da Silva twins, Cleverly, Pogba, Petrucci, Valencia, Welbeck, Keane brothers are all under 25 yrs.Even if Fergie retires the winning mentality will not retire with Fergie, he is busy drilling that into UTD youngsters.
Sir Alex will definitely be mindful of this and i am sure he already has a plan in place, who knows Giggs could be our next Guardiola. watch this space ! ! ! ! ! !

  25. theredderdevil says:

    off topic!
The worst thing that happened to football is Barcelona. The way they manipulate match officials is already legendary. add to that the diving and simulation, it seems these players are featherweght, rolling about at the slightest touch then mobbing the ref to have a call go their way.
I stopped watching their game yesterday after the second penalty and i’ve vowed to never bother again.
    Such a disgrace

  26. Brigadier19 says:

    Mark

Taking the pessimistic view which I fully understand. I mean how can you not worry when the great man retires. Who comes in is going to be crucial without doubt and yes he’s performing miracles with the glazer pressure. Hang On one second you mention the pressure from the Glazers. Do you mean that this team is rubbish due to the glazers, funds etc. If none of these apply I apologise for my presumptions but please elaborate!

I for one see a lot of promise in this team especially with the likes of The Da Silva’s, Crissy Smalls, Johnny Evans, Phil Jones, Tony V, De Gea, Pogba (?), Fryers, Petrucci, Keane and so on and so forth. Youth has always been the United way, long before Ferguson back to Busby for instance.

Ferguson has done this season what not many managers could do, he has hauled us up the table having been ravaged by injuries to key personel but his man management skills are second to none this we would miss in these circumstances without doubt I agree to some extent about his importance. He will leave the club in good hands but a little rollercoaster ride may well be on the cards for a while too.

  32. King Eric says:

Their music? No doubt shit R and B!

  33. King Eric says:

Mark – Of course it will be difficult but thats why I think Fergie will pass it on to someone like Giggs or Ole who know what its all about to be at United. Not some fly by night like Mourinho. Liverpool are a different kettle of fish. Still in a shithouse little stadium, shit youth system, this bit sounds awful but true United have been marketed the right way. Liverpool are an irrelebvant club now. We will be fine.

  34. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

We can hop to OT in hope of a free ticket/ appearance from SAF, I hear he is mellowing must be the best time to ask for a free cap.

Check out the documentary link I put on the other thread. A really good video off youtube. Its a long one about 51 minutes and 9 seconds. A real insight to how life was back then. Great hearing Duncans Mam, Wilf McGuiness and Bill Folkes speaking. Heartwarming. Now where’s those tablets.

Just realised how much I hate City just seen Uwe Rossler bag another equaliser to put it to 2 -2 in the 1995/1996 season only to see Giggs bang in a thunderbolt at Maine Road to secure a 3 -2 win.

On other news Reece Brown has stayed on at Oldham on loan till the end of the season.

Lift the trophy (God willing) then back into town. The ankle biter is on it, just need to get Deano, King Eric and anyone else who fancies it onboard.
