Four minutes of injury time were added to the end of Manchester United’s game against Swansea this afternoon. The referee played five minutes though, and in the final seconds before the whistle blew, Lukasz Fabianski sprinted up the field for a Swansea corner. He got his head on to the cross but thankfully his attempt went just wide of the post.

Young, who had been substituted minutes earlier, watched the header from the dressing room.

I was watching it on TV by then and there were a few hearts in mouths – you don’t expect the goalkeeper to be up there but it was a good header and thankfully for us it went past the post.

Louis van Gaal wasn’t impressed with how much time wasting Swansea, particularly Fabianski, had been guilty of during the game, so was glad we didn’t pay the price in injury time.

It’s unbelievable when you give four minutes’ stoppage time – it’s a lot, especially when they were wasting time, not us. After our goal, of course they were in a hurry, but then it benefits them – that I don’t understand. We were lucky it was wide of our goal because it was a very good header and he was free.
