Cristiano Ronaldo has had an incredible season so far for United, totally eclipsing the season which saw him collect a clean sweep of all the domestic awards. His goalscoring record currently stands at 30 goals in 31 games in all competitions for United, and he leads the Premiership leaderboard with 21 goals.
Arsenal’s striker, Emmanuel Adebayor is currently joint second with Liverpool’s Torres on 19 league goals. In total, he’s scored 23 goals in 37 games, some way of Ronaldo’s tally for the season. However, he has today claimed he will not allow himself to be dominated by a midfielder.
“I am a striker and cannot let myself be dominated by one midfielder,” he said. “I just want to prove I can score more goals. If I can get to 30 it will be for Thierry (Henry) because he believed I could do it.”
To reach this total, Adebayor would have to score 11 goals in Arsenal’s remaining 9 games, in comparison to the 9 goals Ronaldo would need in our remaining 10 matches.
Will Ronaldo be the winner of the golden boot this season?
