Ahead Of Our Game Against Spurs...

Manchester United have beaten Tottenham Hotspur in 20 of their last 25 games at Old Trafford.

Records are there to be broken though and Luka Modric fancies this side of being capable to do it.

“We started to beat those teams at home but it’s true, we need to start sometime to beat them away from home,” said Modric. “But it’s not easy, Man United, and al those clubs are great clubs, and it’s not easy to go there and win. We are full of confidence at the moment and so why not beat them on Saturday after a long time?”

Why not? I’m hoping because of Javier Hernandez, Dimitar Berbatov and Nani. The three of them have kept us bobbing us along so far this season so I hope they can continue with their good work today.

As for the rest of the side, Rafael, Vidic, Rio and Evra to start in defence preferably, with Gary Neville no longer up for the job as he proved against Stoke. The boss might opt to play John O’Shea at right back but as so many of us have been saying this season, we need to get Rafael on the pitch. He was at fault in this fixture last season so let’s hope his learning curve keeps heading in the right direction.

Park was poor midweek but got the goal just as the moaning and groaning became very audible. Due to injuries to Ryan Giggs and Antonio Valencia, I don’t see many other options but to play Park. It would be good to see Darren Fletcher and Paul Scholes in the centre of the park, as they have been our most effective partnership so far this season (which doesn’t say an awful lot if we’re honest!) but Michael Carrick might get the nod again today.

Spurs are a great side though and just because they’ve been poor at Old Trafford we shouldn’t underestimate them. They’ve got some top quality players and as every season passes without a result here, they’ll certainly become more and more determined.

Fingers crossed we can delay that occasion for another season because after dropping points to West Brom in our last home game, we really need to start grabbing this campaign by the scruff of the neck and getting on with it.
