Following United’s 0-0 draw with Newcastle, who finished three places above the relegation zone last season, Louis van Gaal insisted that we didn’t need any new signings. Having chased Pedro for several weeks, with Ed Woodward flying out to Barcelona on two occasions, only for him to sign for Chelsea, United fans were a tad concerned. Van Gaal insisted that United didn’t want or need Pedro though.

19 minutes in to his debut for Chelsea, Pedro put the champions 1-0 up against West Brom. 10 minutes later, it was his shot that assisted Diego Costa for Chelsea’s second. In less than half an hour, he has proved more effective than any United player over three games.
