Arsenal To Bring Swine Flu To Manchester?

We’ve already reportedly got a case of swine flu in Sale but maybe it’s set to spread to Old Trafford given the precautions Arsenal have gone to this week in regards to their Mexican striker, Carlos Vela.

“It looks to be a massive problem so we asked him to stay at home on Monday,” said Wenger. “He wasn’t allowed at the training ground. It was down to him having a visit from Mexican friends who came to see him last week and who came to our training ground. It’s a major problem for Mexico.”

Ok ok, he’s been given the all-clear, but seriously, just how obsessed are we with this bloody swine flu at the moment?!

i think the only way you could really get a fatel case of swine flu or that chicken one or mad cow is if you have a few quiclkys behind the barn with the animal its named after so i cant see any arsenal player really having it

I think I may have a case of the ol' swine flu! Been off work for 10 days... 7 days of that on holiday ruined by being ill!!!

Carlos Vela is a great player for his age and I am glad he won't be at OT tonight!

These 'Arsenal' posts are really going to get a lot of response from the 'Arsenal Fans'.

Wazza, most people that have been affected have been to Mexico, but some people in Scotland that have been in close contact to the couple that honeymooned in Mexico are showing mild symptoms.

It's quite a big deal, and any news channel will have it as their main story. 159 dead and over 1000 infected. Confirmed cases in Mexico, US, Canada, Scotland, Spain, Germany, New Zealand. Suspected cases in Australia, Israel. It also seems to be infecting young adults, rather than the older generation, as in most flu viruses.

So far, the only fatalities are in Mexico, and I think with the medical attention most other contries mentioned have, I dont think we have a pandemic on our hands.

Anyway, back to the football... Vela doesnt have the disease, its a flu... if he had it, he would be in hospital, or at least stuck in bed.

Okay, I didn't realised how obsessed I am with this flu thing... Damn pigs

Oh, and by the way. A child has now been confirmed to have died in the US due to swine flu, and there are 3 more confirmed cases in the UK. I believe there are now 10 countries to have confirmed cases.

To add to what I have just said, the 3 more confirmed cases are all people that have recently visited Mexico, so don't get worried about the virus tranferring between people in the UK...

MICHELDU9, i dont know where your from but by the sounds of your bitterness your either scouse / yorkshire so you do realise if it does have a huge outbreak in Manchester it will reach liverpool/yorkshire and any surrounding area's within the next day. ;)

it is a worry actually this swine flu, but bird flu had me worried aswell.

It is like 6 degrees of separation. The swine flu is very contagious between humans. I live in Mexico and now we have to guard ourselves from people with any kind of flu. You see almost everyone wearing [surgical] masks (cubrebocas).

The cases abroad are from people who traveled to Mexico. Mexico City is overpopulated and it is no wonder that some travelers came in contact with someone infected.

The problem is that if a traveler returning to their home country is infected, he might be asymptomatic for some time, infecting others in the mean time. Of course, not every traveler gets infected.

Deaths in Mexico are probably due to people reluctant to go to the doctor or bad diagnosis. So if you feel sick and have high fever (38oC), go to your doctor.
