Karim Benzema has today revealed that he has no regrets over snubbing Manchester United to join Real Madrid in the summer.
His decision not to come to United, after Sir Alex Ferguson thought it was a done deal, meant we signed ex-Liverpool hero Michael Owen on a free transfer.
Owen scored 9 goals in all competitions before being ruled out for the season through injury in February. It is interesting to note that Benzema has scored just 8 goals in Spain.
“Do I regret not signing for Manchester United? No. I dreamt about Real, that’s all,” said Benzema. “It was a first season to learn. I didn’t know what a season abroad was. Now I know, and next term, from the very first day, I will be at my very best. I don’t want to leave. I don’t think the club wants to see me leave. I want to make a name for myself.”
