Bruno Fernandes has been the Manchester United captain for most of this season, with Harry Maguire being dropped to the bench after the opening two defeats.

With his fiery nature and determined spirit, it’s easy to see why Erik ten Hag wants Fernandes as his named leader on the pitch.

Speaking to the club’s official site, Fernandes has reiterated that playing for United is a dream come true and that he intends to stay here for many years.

Being a kid in Portugal, watching the Premier League and watching the club, it was always a dream to come to the Theatre of Dreams, Old Trafford, and to experience that.

I want to be here for many years. I want to have some stability for my family. We like to be here, we like to be in this country, we want to have the family established here and the kids growing up here, having their friends, being happy. That’s the most important thing for us.

Fernandes has just returned from a successful international break with Portugal, with both him and United teammate Diogo Dalot getting on to the scoresheet.
