Philippe Auclair, one of France’s most passionate and talented football journalists, has written a book on The King.

“I’d read a great deal about Eric before, and had always felt frustrated by how willing profile writers and biographers were to take his dark legend at face value. It suited everyone, it seems,” said Auclair. “I was also very lucky be already in touch with a number of people who’d been major characters in his story; and I loved the player, of course: the most collectively-minded of all soloists, a true footballer whose greatness was belittled by the excessive admiration or vilification that had come his way.”

PanMacmillan.com are running a competition, well, a give-away really, judging on how easy the question is, with a United shirt signed by Cantona up for grabs as well as five signed copies of this new book.
